Oh no… not swimsuits again…

Hi everyone,

I was really depleted of sleep the last 2 days and having to drive home from St. Louis had me a little bit jumpy. I only got 3 hours and 38 minutes of sleep on Saturday night and 1 hour and 35 minutes Sunday night, but last night when I went to bed, I don’t think I ever moved… and my Fitbit said I got 10 hours and 11 minutes of sleep! Let me tell you it was much needed and WONDERFUL! :o)

Yes, it’s swimsuits again today… I started them the other day and showed you, but they weren’t completely finished… so here they are… plus I even managed to get them listed in my Etsy shop… Etsy shop for I Dream of Jeanne Marie

Since these are newly listed swimsuits, they are listed first in my shop, but the rest are listed toward the bottom.

First to show you hers is Lavender. She got to model one of the pink swirl suits… It has a lot of silver speckles on it and 2 silver buttons on front.

This picture of her bum didn’t turn out very clear, but it’s to show you how it fits around the leg.

Next up is Rozen showing how pretty she looks in aqua and purple… I had just one piece that was big enough to make a skirt for her suit. It is a very pretty color on Rozen…

Next up in the water is Stella showing off her pink swirl suit too. Hers was given 2 silver buttons too…

Last is Frieda in her psychedelic purple and black swim suit. Like the one Rozen had on, I had just enough of this fabric to make her a little skirt too…

Thanks for all your comments about reading my blog. It was interesting reading about all your days and how you spend them…

See you tomorrow,
Blessings, Jeanne

I’m sure you were simply exhausted, and I’m glad you are feeling more rested up today!

The swimsuits are just darling. I think my favorite is the blue one with the skirt, although that last purple one is really beautiful, too!

I got Nolan’s little t-shirt almost done now–just have to stitch the hem and apply the snaps.

  2. Sooo glad you are caught up on sleep, Jeanne. Continue “sleep loading” to make up for those lost hours.
I hope You and George are feeling good.

These suits are so pretty. The cut is perfect, I love the optional skirts. I love the fabrics too
Your sewing is neat and tidy. I bet you have plenty of sandals for all of these kiddos! Perhaps you can look into some sun hats or caps, I bet those are tricky.

I have been noticing my sewing is pretty sloppy, making these tiny bags. I even broke a needle yesterday! Well, mainly the needle banged into the tweezers I use to hold the teensy binding as it was going over the folded zipper ends…?

I am going to zip out this morning and return some things to Walmart before the rain comes this afternoon.
Oh yes, Anne is right dementia is when you do not know what the keys are for. Correct. I guess all of us can get rather “scatter brained”. My daughter even complains of this, calling it “too many tabs open” haha
Happy Wednesday already and have a perky day.
I have a lot of things to do, and want to do, so I will pace myself.
I hope all of you making quilts or other sewing, please send it along to Jeanne.
    I would love to see.

I love your daughter’s comment about having too many tabs open. If you stop to realize the plethora of information we have in our heads after living so long, it’s not amazing we go into overload every now and then. One of the things I love about the internet is that if I can’t remember something but remember something about what I’m looking for, I can type what I know and get the answer I’m looking for. Sometimes I have to come at it from different directions but it’s a lot quicker than waiting for it to come to me. But one thing I heard one time when someone was worried about forgetting why they went into a room for “something”. They were told not to panic but relax and it will most likely come to them. I have actually had things come to me in my sleep.

There is a really good book that we read for our bookclub, called “Remember; the Science of Memory and the Art of Forgetting” by Lisa Genova. She says that it isn’t so much that we forget what we went into the room for or where we left our car, it is that we never actually remembered it in the first place. It is an excellent book, I can highly recommend it. One of the things I have heard/read also is that learning something completely new like a language is very good at warding off dementia. I was thinking of learning Maori but not sure I can fit in the assignments!

So glad that Jeanne, caught up on her ZZZ’s. And she even had time to get the latest swimsuit creations posted in her Etsy shop. Good for her.
Here, we managed getting in our usual walk, heading to the other house, but not much else. I guess we were both recovering from the long drive on Sunday.
I dropped my mouse and have spent the last few minutes trying to figure out what was wrong with it. The cursor was only working on the edges of my page, and I couldn’t do anything, until I figured that it was upside down. Ha ha. Way too sleepy this morning.
Anyway, even Callie Cat is sleeping in today. I had better get moving though as I would like to try and get in a walk early as I have my eye appointment at ten fifty. I will be useless later until my eyes are no longer dilated.
    Have a fun day everyone.

    1. Good luck at the eye doc. I am trying to “think” perky.
Funny about your mouse. I have pretty sharp eyes, but hubbs came in the kitchen and reported he needed more Listerine. I was shocked! Went and looked under his cabinet and there was new bottle hiding in the darkness. whew. …we try to keep up!
Enjoy being fuzzy this afternoon. Callie Cat might like that.

Thanks Rosemary. Still fuzzy here, but getting better. But, I pressed on and went out and managed to get the whole yard watered. Or at least I think I hit everything. Did the front too and then gave up, came in, and closed my eyes for awhile with lots of drops. Much better now, and I am planning on heading back out to the shade to pull more weeds in a bit. At the other house, I finally decided to get a pic of a patch of what I thought was poison oak. Used Google lens and yep, it was the menace. So, we need to do some digging there before it gets any bigger.

Hi, Y’all, I have been so busy with my son here I only read the blog yesterday. We worked together in the garage and I had to be there so he would not through every thing away in the place, LOL! Peyton has a lot of stuff in there and I don’t know what he wants to get rid of. Today Peyton and I went to our Wednesday service and came back, first for me to make the cookies for church lunch tomorrow and then get ready to work with Ronny in yard. We finally have sun shine today and will get dressed and sprayed for ticks as we go. We still have our last pound of shrimp and I will make shrimp and grits for dinner. I also have made my famous Key Lime Pie for dessert. Yesterday was Shepherds pie for them which takes me 2 hours. Still I love cooking for my son because he loves Mama cooking.
Well,, here we go, off to work in the yard.
    Y’all have a good day!

    1. So happy to hear the latest from you, Sissy.
I would love to have shrimp. I have never had grits.
I like Key Lime Pie. It is a good thing I can’t just drive over to your house. I am happy your son is helpful going through stuff. I have a whole lot of things I would LOVE to give away… that belongs to my hubbs, but they are his and he will decide…. it is so great that your son is helping.
Here we have a bit of rain coming through in about an hour.

    2. Joy in northern CA

I would go for the shrimp in cocktail sauce, but what recipe do you use for grits?? Like Rosemary, what exactly are they? I do like key lime pie though. šŸ™‚ Don’t work too hard in the yard.

Jeanne, I am so glad to hear that you got a good sleep. I hope George is feeling better.
I know your sweet swim suits will be very popular!

I’ve been sleep deprived at times but, Jeanne, I think you’ve got me beat. So glad you had time to catch up. It usually takes me a few days when I lose a lot of sleep. Hope George is doing well.

Love the new bathing suits. I need to take inventory and see if any of my girls still need them. I made some and bought some a couple years ago but haven’t done any wardrobe inventory for a while.

When people were mentioning bunnies yesterday it reminded me of a show I watched lately. It was a trip down the Mississippi from Lake Itaska in Minnesota to the Gulf of Mexico. It had several segments and was a great show. But the one thing they mentioned was about a fish that was devastating to the ecosystem of the river. I could not remember the name of the fish so I typed in what I knew and got this:

“Silver carp were introduced to the U.S. in the 1970s–80s for aquaculture and wastewater treatment, but escaped into the Mississippi River during high-water events in the 1990s. They are plankton-eating filter feeders that consume large amounts of green phytoplankton, the base of the aquatic food chain. By doing so, they outcompete native fish for food and habitat, reducing populations of species important to sport and commercial fisheries.”

That’s probably more than you wanted to know about the Asian Carp but the show is great to watch because they have events where people go out in boats and catch as many of the fish as they can. They do it by revving up their boats which causes the nervous system of the fish to make them jump out of the water and into the boats. It’s hilarious to watch but they are pretty big and can do some damage if they hit someone. Right now the big problem is to keep them out of the Great Lakes using any means they can. But you’ll be glad to know the wolves are back in Yellowstone. I do love my documentaries.

    1. Very interesting. There are a lot of invasive beasts running and swimming in places that are destroying the eco system. Hubbs put a recent video of the management of those huge snakes in Florida. I watched a little of it, but it was a bit too gross for me.
I know that “snake fish” are also a huge problem in some lakes and ponds.
      I love documentaries too

    2. Joy in northern CA

Here, they are frantically trying to keep the golden mussel out of Lake Tahoe and other lakes because it can easily become established and eventually turn the lake from blue to murky green. All boats being launched are inspected and must be disinfected. It is an awful pest. There are similar mussels in the delta area of CA that are also causing damage. Some can actually clog water intake pipes. Pretty awful pests.

Carp are a real problem here too. DOC think most of them were unwanted goldfish that were flushed down the toilet. They can get very big.
New Zealand has a real problem with invasive species. We only have one native mammal, a tiny fruit bat, so no predators before Humans arrived in about the year 800. The moa, which was a very big, ostrich-like bird was extinct before Pakeha (non-Maori) arrived in the late 1700’s. Captain Cook introduced pigs, the settlers introduced deer and possum and rabbits. Fortunately no one decided there would be a good market for snakeskin! NZ is one of the only two countries in the world without snakes. Unfortunately, climate change has made the sea around NZ warmer and we have had a few water snakes wash up. Snakes aren’t even allowed in zoos here, neither are the poisonous spiders. Australia keep trying to send us some in their fruit exports but generally they are dead before they arrive thank goodness.

We have a problem here in Texas with feral hogs. At least you can eat them but they are so prolific in certain areas that they destroy the people’s yards and gardens. There is actually a bounty on them but they must breed like bunnies because we can’t seem to get rid of them.

Jeanne, I don’t think you were asleep, I think you were unconscious. I’m glad that things are going well after your most recent visit.

The swim suits are very cute. I especially like to hear about how you find some of unusual fabrics.

Snow last week, 84 degrees today. Spring is always interesting here. I think I’ll try planting hers today — parsley, cilantro, chervil, and chives. Basil and dill can go with the tomatoes. Last year’srosemary lived. I need to check on the thyme.
