Hi everyone,
If you’ve been with me any length of time, you know occasionally I get busy with something and don’t have time to write a post. Today is one of those days… actually I write my posts the evening before they are posted, so it was yesterday that kept me from writing a post.
I have a good reason… I might give an update in the comments later on today.
So, I thought a question was in order… Here goes…
“What are your plans for the day?” Sewing, dressing dolls, sleeping in, baking, shopping, lunch with a friend, cleaning your house, organizing your closets, switching your clothes from summer to Fall, reading a good book or looking at magazines?
Let us know what’s going on with you if you want. I’ll check in later and see who is being ambitious and who is just plain having fun!
See you tomorrow,
Blessings, Jeanne
Looks like I’m going first tonight (well, I haven’t been to bed yet–it’s only 1:24 a.m. where I am–so it’s still Tuesday night to me!), unless someone overlaps my post and hers shows up first! We never know!
I am wondering if today was to be George’s surgery…..
Anyway, my plans for the day are like almost every Wednesday–after lunch I go to church for our prayer service/Bible study, and then I stay and work on/practice my music for Sunday, which includes four hymns plus something for prelude and offertory. I am also working on some lovely medleys for pre-Christmas preludes, from a book I found at Half Price Books last summer. Some are secular, so not appropriate for church, but there are several that will work just fine. My favorite is a combination of “Still, Still, Still” with “Silent Night”. Also my son is coming down to stay with me “for good” he says, but we’ll see! In the past, this has only lasted a few days.
Sissy, Ron and I used to use our cell phones to keep track of each other in the shopping malls or at the fair! But we never texted, just called. And no smart phones for either of us. As he got older, and they kept “upgrading” the cell phones, he got more and more frustrated with them (they kept changing how they worked), so those last few months in his adult family home, he rarely even answered the phone.
Charlotte, I love that you are Still, Still, Still playing for your church, (I had to say it that way because that is one of the songs we sing in our choir every year). 2 years ago our wonderful organist past away. Thank goodness our choir leaders best friend came to our rescue on the piano. It is really heard to get choir leaders or pianists these days. Back when we were kids almost every one had at least one child who piano lessons. I did, and both my sons did. They both have ended up in bands in school and still loving playing with guitars and drums.
Sissy you are right about the convenience of cell phones and for us they have been a blessing. I just don’t use it for everything. Mostly because my close-up vision is not too good and I prefer using my computer with the big screen when I want to buy something or send an email. But David and I do what you and your hubby do when we shop at Wal-Mart. We split the list, which is still on paper LOL, and he does the grocery area and I do the rest. Then we usually meet up in the drinks aisle because he only drinks one kind of Propel and I like to switch around. But if I’m looking for him and he’s not there yet, the phone is a handy gadget to have. Usually I can hear his phone ringing nearby and know he is on his way. The years before cell phones were not fun for us when he did out-of-town jobs. Sometimes he had to travel a long distance so we could only catch up when he was staying at a motel overnight. One time he was traveling to Connecticut and I hadn’t heard from him for a couple days. Finally I called his motel in CT and they said he wasn’t registered. I was frantic. Finally he called me and I told him what they said. He was at that motel in spite of what they said. So cell phones have been great when he has had to travel because it’s real time.
Glad to hear about you and your hubs and your phones, Barbara, we are together in that!
The combination of “Stil, Still, Still” with “Silent Night” is one we did in the Chorale. They are both such beautiful songs and together they are amazing. So you might be having a permanent house guest?
For me, itโs a trip to the dentist for a new crown! Fun! I would prefer it be a crown for my head, but no, not quite! Then another crown needs to be done too, in the not too distant future. I canโt really say what the rest of the day will be like, since it depends on how long it takes, but instead of today, I will talk about yesterday! I went out for lunch with my former college group that gets together once a month. We went to a very nice Italian restaurant and talked the afternoon away! Nothing like keeping up with old friends and trying new food!
It’s great your group remains intact. I have managed to catch up with some of my friends from years ago but others don’t seem to be interested in keeping in touch. When I worked in the Legal Dept. at Shell we always did a Christmas luncheon where we would meet at a restaurant and those who had retired could join us. We did this for years, sadly losing some along the way. But we cancelled our meet-up during COVID and it’s never picked up again. Mostly I think because the woman who organized it each year is in assisted living and some others have passed away or don’t feel able to attend. It was fun while it lasted, probably about 30+ years.
Oh, that is so sad, Barbara! Our high school class of 1957 meets every month for lunch. We were having reunions every year, but last year was the last one, there were just the ones that come to lunch that managed to make the reunions so it didn’t seem to keep it up. We have the same class secretary from our high school days. She got all of our info and our parents and addresses when she was still in school and has kept us all together as much as she as been able over the years.
We are with Linda, going to the dentist, but to have our teeth cleaned. Peyton may have to have one pulled, so I don’t know how long it will take. We will miss our usual time with our Wednesday healing and Eucharist service. The rest of the day be the usual, but after dinner, (we eat at 3:00, a yard man will come to go over the yard with me. There is a lot that needed to be cut out and trimmed and other stuff. My regular yard man has been with us since 2000. He is 80 now and can only ride his mower. I need some one who can come a couple of times a month and help me do the things I used to do my self and also my yard man did years ago.
Exciting day…ha. I will enjoy see what the rest of you have going on.
Well, I hope your day is a good one Jeanne, I wish you and George success in
what ever is planned, and smooth comfort for both of you.
Yesterday I sewed all day (the weather was beautiful outside but I was feeling like a focused sewing hermit) I have xm radio and listen to music all day.
I also accomplished several cleaning duties.
Charlotte, I am so happy you play the piano for church, and organ too?
That is a dream job I am sure. I play piano but not very good anymore.
Maybe I will play 30 minutes of piano today like I used to daily.
Many days that time turned into something longer and that is good.
I am starting my 15 maple blocks, for the quilt along. I use dinner size clear plastic plates to put pieces on and stack them and take everything to the machine. I sew in rows, keep the pieces on each plate and tonight I will do the pressing while watching Northern Exposure (very old tv show: nice! no swearing … etc) and a little bit of hst trimming. My sewing space is upstairs now, I like it, stairs are good, upstairs is good for focusing, but down stairs is where the tv is, and kitchen etc.
Hubbs is going to the old house to meet up with a tree guy.
I hope everyone has a very nice joy filled day. I love all of you
Today I got the laundry off the racks and lines in the basement and want to have them all folded before lunch. I am taking a break with Dominic and have a persistent head cold. I got to get a room more organized and picked up today, so that tomorrow before I pick up the girls from their school pilgrimage to 2 big churches, I may have a chance to explore some thrift stores ๐ Wish me luck!
Sounds like a fun time. I remember those days of “have-tos” being my life and I worked full-time too. I longed for the day when I could just stay home and do domestic tasks. I’ve always loved tidying up and used to be able to clean my house from one end to the other in a day, including taking down, washing and rehanging curtains. Now that I have the time I lack the energy and sometimes when my sciatic nerve acts up I lack the will. These days it takes me all day just to clean the bathroom. Sorry about your cold. Hope you get over it soon. Taking care of a family while not feeling well is the pits.
Thanks, Barbara! ๐ Hope you have a great day!
Oh boy, first thing I thought of was where’s the dryer? No way I would be able function without one around here. There must be a reason though. Can’t imagine the amount of clothing that needs washing every week at your place. You are a great parent to take such good care of your family.
Jeanne, hope your day goes well. Blessings to you!
Today, and now that I have a lot on my โorganizing plateโ under control, things Iโve been concentrating on for a month, I can start in on planning my next list of โ to doโ things, although they will be fun.
Today though, I see my cardiologist for a follow up of the cardio version I had last week. She will also go over plans for a heart ablation in early December. It is a new method that is better, safer and far more efficient in keeping me out of Afib. Iโm grateful for that.
Later today, I may even read a book or start a puzzle – I have been that busy for months and havenโt done a whole lot of relaxing things these past few months. Yay!! Iโm looking forward to a bit of those fun things.
Everyone- have a great blessed day.
Had to look up heart ablation. Says minimally invasive, so that is good. Please keep us in the loop when this happens. And I like your relaxing things. ๐
Dear Jeanne, here is my list:
1 Go to health appointment online
2 Go to health appointment in person
3 Go through doll clothes to downsize collections
4 Pick a new Jane Austen spinoff to read
Prayers continue for you and George.
Well, it’s 7:30 AM here, so not sure what the day will bring yet. It is cloudy, so not so sure if paint will dry. But, the latest deck board in now installed and looks like a good fit. We found another place that I want to use some Bondo on, so we’ll see if that happens. I have out regular clothes to wear after I hop in the shower, but if I do deck work, I will have to change into my jeans with holes and old paint shirt from college. Decisions, decisions.
We did go to Target yesterday for more cat food. And while there, I picked up another couple of little trinket plates in the junk section near the door so I will have four dinner plates for some of the dolls to use. These are the winter ones with tiny skiers on them. ๐ Definitely need Linda to set up a table scene. ๐
Oh, and I also picked up a turkey. ๐ Thinking ahead to Thanksgiving. It is a cute little fabric one. Perfect size for the dolls. However, it won’t be eaten, just a guest on a chair, I think. ๐
I believe that I have a package arriving soon. I received an update that wanted to know where to leave it. Well, on the porch, but that wasn’t a choice. So, we’ll see if it gets left at the bottom of the steps in the rain or dry on the porch. And when will it arrive? Not a clue as the update was in Chinese. This box will be difficult to hide because it is actually, two dolls, twins of which we’ve been waiting a long time.
Keep your spirits up Jeanne. Hoping we hear good news from you later on.
Canโt with hear about the twins! ๐
Canโt wait to hear about the twins I mean.
Sorry on the mistakes.
Plenty to keep me busy. both inside and out. Of course the usual kitty care. Then leaves to be raked, and finish putting part of the garden to bed. Also planting the garlic that arrived. Finally got the winter storm curtains hung on the front porch to keep it free from snow for the porch kitties. Still need to fix a couple more kitty houses in the yard.
Chilly day here in the 40’s so hopefully a small break for something fun later (playing with the kitties will certainly be one of them).
What will I be doing today? Well since I’m finally getting to this and it’s after lunch half the day is gone so this should be easy. What did I do so far? Not much. I spent most of the morning trying to figure out if my hubby was around or not. He was supposed to leave earlier to go to a job and be there when his equipment showed up. He was still here at noon because the transport truck was late getting here. He finally left around noon and Sean and I went to lunch. As soon as I finish here we are going out to put up my Halloween yard decorations. They’re blow-ups so won’t take long. I had sent pictures of these to Jeanne a few years ago. Unfortunately my floating ghost bit the dust last year so it is no more. We will put up the two black cats that are on each side of my driveway and the fire breathing dragon with the wings that move but probably will not put out more. Not only is Halloween only a week away but we are expecting our first true cold front through next Wednesday. That means a lot of wind and I found it’s the one real downside to the blow-ups. I wanted to put up my hearse with the skeleton driver but it’s huge and if it’s windy I can’t inflate it so it would just lie on the ground deflated until the wind dies down and by that time Halloween will most likely be over. I have the same trouble at Christmas but I keep them up longer so it’s worth giving it a shot.
After all that I hope to get into my sewing room to cut out an outfit for my RRFF mini Bella (Brianna) but at the moment I’m sharing the room with a wasp I can’t get rid of, so I have to keep on the lookout so we don’t run into each other.
Wow! Sounds like a lot of us are in the same boat when it comes to doctor and dentist appts. to deal with, cleaning house, outside yard work, taking care of pets, etc.! I told my daughter the other day that I would really enjoy at least TWO months where I didn’t have any doctor appts. scheduled or any health issues to deal with! I think Nov. and Dec. are going to be my crafting months to get ready for Christmas!
Saw the ear Doctor the other day regarding my gradual loss of hearing in the one ear and asked if there are any other options of hearing again without going to hearing aids. Evidently they can do an outpatient procedure in the hospital while under anesthesia (takes about 10 minutes), and put a t-grommet in the eardrum, which is longer than the usual grommet (mine came out on its own after a few months and then my hearing became muffled again). And since I have a dysfunctional eustachian tube, they can do a “balloon” inflation in the tube to open it back up. And usually all of this allows a person to hear normally again. The Doctor said no pressure to do this ….it is my option or I can try a hearing aid or just leave things as they are. I see an Audiologist in January and then see my ear Doctor right afterwards. I am leery of anesthesia since I have a hard time waking up afterwards, although, this procedure only takes about 10 minutes. I asked the Doctor about the prognosis of other people who have had this done…and also about the balloon procedure…does the ear tube stay open afterwards. Also came home and googled the procedures and watched videos, and read more information. It is definitely something to think about.
Today I managed to clean the two cat litter boxes, vacuum carpeting and all area rugs, washed the tile floors, and did a load of laundry to wash all of the towels, blankets and such that the cats sleep on. I too, cannot clean the whole place in one day like I used to! So I break it up during the weekdays so the weekends are free. We do our cat boxes every other day and then I might either catch up on laundry or do just the floors, or maybe just all of my bedding or clean my bathroom. And of course there is still the watering of front porch plants that are still thriving in our 80-90 degree heat here in Texas! I have already brought a couple of plants inside for the winter and will bring in another one that I think will last, before a “freeze” sets in. Daughter already applied fertilizer/weed killer to the grass and she went around the entire perimeter of the foundation with the bug killer spray, like we do every year…this is Texas and the ants like to invite themselves inside in the fall!
I have a piece of artwork I am doing for my daughter whose Birthday is at the end of November, so I hope to work on that today and the rest of this week, while she is at work! Made a list today of the Christmas type projects to accomplish ….my Santa figures, the schoolroom for Great Granddaughter’s gift to go with her Siblie doll, school accessories and two desks and chairs, and possibly some outfits to go with a 12 inch Temu doll that can be a friend and classmate of the Siblie doll! Little Delilah is ten years old now and I feel like my time of creating doll items and sewing for her dolls is limited….she may not want to play dolls in a couple of years. But I know her mother will save them for new baby sister, Abby, someday, as she is only 5 months old now!
Our day is mostly over now….Hubby & I (mostly ME!) spent the afternoon researching new (to us) Medicare Advantage Plans, as our current plan will no longer be offered in NJ, beginning in 2026….This morning, I scrolled thru several sites on the ‘Net for 7.5″ to 8″ tall, Madame Alexander “Smilin’ Maggie” (preferred) and “Wendy” dolls ~ pre-2000, and which have been restrung (as the bands on these dolls have mostly rotted-out by now, and I’m not really “good” at restringing) ~ to wear a variety of doll couturier-made outfits I’ve collected over the years. After dinner (which I must begin to make now; Hubby is HUNGRY!) and some TV, I will begin my “hunt” again! Wish me LUCK!!! ~ Cheryl in NJ (A “lurker” most of the time, but my “Ten Ping” DOES have several of Jeanne’s LOVELY outfits!)
Oh, I’d love to see a pic of your Tens in outfits by Jeanne Marie. And also some of your MA kids too. ๐
Glad to hear George is doing ‘okay’, and praying the future will show even more improvement ๐
