I’ll let you guess which doll is up next for a dress…

But first, how about a few pictures of the wedding dress and the couple. It was a relatively small wedding and I actually was sitting on the 3rd row… best seat I’ve ever had at a wedding…but it was announced not to take any photos during the wedding… rats! I had a perfect view… but Sebastian, (who helped me with some pictures of Isabelle one time when I was having a hard time photographing her in an aqua colored dress) was their photographer, so I’ll try and get some nicer pictures from him if possible and show you later.

Now that the wedding is over, I can show you the pictures I took of Barbara in her dress in the dorm room, and also her mother in law, after her dress was finished being altered.

This is Barbara in her wedding dress… hemmed, taken in, sleeves made closer to her arms and new stretch lace around the armholes on the inside. The lighting wasn’t great and she had just gotten out of the shower so her hair was wet…

This is what a 12 yard skirt looks like… Whew!!!

This is her sister, Karen, who did Barbara’s hair, her makeup, made the cakes, and probably more I don’t know about… She said their mom had to work a lot when they were younger and Karen is 13 years older than Barbara, so she said she always felt like Barbara was almost like a daughter to her. They are VERY close…

Here is Juan’s mom in the rose dress…

When she put on her silver glittery shoes, I commented that she looked like a model, and when Juan interpreted what I said, she tossed her head back and put her hand on her hip and REALLY gave me a nice shot!

I managed to get two pictures at the reception… They are a beautiful couple!

Okay so that’s all I have for the wedding… Now let’s all use our imagination and see who can guess what these clues might mean for the next doll… :o)

This is a pretty close match in color to what it really looks like… it’s a beautiful, lightweight cotton.

This is what started me thinking about this dress…

One more clue… do you have any guesses?

Well, this is a short Monday post, but I hope there’ll be more tomorrow!
Blessings, Jeanne

Ooh, what lovely pictures of the bride, groom, and his mother! I’m so glad to see Barbara in a traditional, modestly styled gown. It really did turn out beautifully with your adjustments. Loving that skirt, too–12 yards?! Wow!! And his mother really does look like a model in her dress. So nice to see the sweet relationship Barbara has with her older sister, too.

Well, at a guess, I’d say that it’s Kirsten who will be the next recipient for her dress. I think it’s the bucket that is the clue here–it just looks so Scandinavian!

How lovely the bride dress turned out, Jeanne! I love the fact that it was such a sweet, modest kind of dress, simple, but elegant, with the placement of the lace. The groom’s mother did look like a model and she certainly wore that dress perfectly! What a beautiful couple they are, and I wish them many happy years together! Thank you for showing the pictures!

Before I read Charlotte’s guess of Kirsten, I was thinking Addy! I know very little about Scandinavian design, but Addy just popped into my mind when I first saw the material and bucket. Either one would be an excellent choice!

What a lovely group of photos, Jeanne. I know you would like some more from the wedding, but these are so beautiful and full of joy and love. When I saw the train I was even more amazed at what you had to do!
As for the blue fabric, I think Charlotte is probably right. I hope Mae is in your mind soon. I love what you make for her. I am not sewing now, getting doll clothes and dolls ready to sell takes up a lot of time.
We are heading out again to complete our new wills. We usually have at least 3 days or more each week when we have to go somewhere. Living in a city would mean less travel to get places but we chose to live in the boonies with quiet and looking out at our river. Fortunately, Peyton likes to drive, and is good at it.

  4. WOW, thank you for sharing the wedding photos. Beautiful bride and groom and just so lovely parents. So sweet.

The fabric is beautiful. Wow and the dress idea is marvelous. I am going to guess…. one of the AG girls? It is difficult to guess the size, but I love what you have cut out!

    1. Toasty, yes, Rosemary, but more like burnt toast! Fall can’t get here soon enough for me!

Thanks Jeanne, for sharing the photos. The dress alterations turned out perfect for both dresses. Good job!
It wasn’t the bucket that made me think of a big girl, but seeing that lace. It seems perfect for a dress for one of the 18″ group. I think the outfit will be lovely on whoever is the chosen model.
Yesterday, we drove down to grands to celebrate a belated Father’s Day and the middle school graduation of oldest grand. Had a wonderful time and included a delicious lunch at our favorite Mexican restaurant there and ice cream cake chosen by the celebrated grand after our return from lunch. Got caught up on the latest with the Giants as daughter’s bro in law works for them. Other person loves to talk baseball. Lots of traffic, but coming home was a breeze with clear views of the bay.
Upon our return, we were greeted by cats at both the front and back doors. I guess they missed us or their treats. πŸ™‚

  6. What beautiful wedding photos. Barbara is a lovely bride. I really love her wedding gown choice with all the gorgeous lace. Her bouquet with sunflowers is super sweet. How wonderful she has a loving sister to make the day even more special.. Juan’s mother could be a model and Juan is a handsome groom.

Yes, I think Charlotte is right with it being Kirsten. The bucket is very sweet. I love blue and white in the summer. I’m just happy to see it’s hopefully one of the 18 inch girls as they seem to be mostly forgotten now in favor of others or it’s Molly who is chosen.
Some AG news for those who might care. It’s official, AG is getting more and more Barbiefied. First they made original 1950s Barbie and then the Day to Night outfit. Now they have made a collector doll of 1985’s Peaches & Cream Barbie. I was a sophomore in high school at the time so she pulls no nostalgia strings (plus I never played with Barbies, just Skipper and my Sunshine Family), but I do recall us looking at her in Woolworth’s probably while buying candy, Goody hair things, and nail polish. πŸ™‚

Wonderful pictures of the bride and her mother-in-law and then the bride and groom together. Barbara’s sister did an amazing job on Barbara’s hair. What a beautiful relationship the sisters have. All your alterations turned out perfect.

Have no clue and can’t even hazard a guess who the next outfit is for, but I’ll be anxiously awaiting the revelation.

Well today is the big day. We will be going to Sean’s first and then taking one car to the pageant location. We will take our car but Sean will drive since he knows exactly how to get there after getting a call from Dionne yesterday that she forgot one of the dresses and could he please bring it. Not surprised this happened because my DIL can be a bit disorganized. When I think about the years my kids were in dancing and the organization needed to get all the costumes and accessories in the right place at the right time, getting four dresses together seems an easy task to me. But it did give Sean a chance to find out the exact location, which wasn’t where he thought it was so today should be a breeze. The pageant is from 5 to 6:30 p.m., which wasn’t as long as we thought so we will probably go to dinner with them after. I don’t know how Jaiden will do but it is a good experience for her since she tends to be a bit reclusive usually. I’m excited to see her all dressed up. That will be a totally new experience. She is a lovely young lady, pretty, tall and slender and I’m looking forward to seeing her in this venue.

The Pageant sounds fun, Barbara, so nice you can attend. My two older grands, one had ballet and the other sang, but they lived on the other side of the USA so I didn’t get to see them perform very much. I am sure Jaiden will be please that you are there for her. I hope you send photos for us!

I second Sissy’s request for photos. I’d love to see what she chose to wear. πŸ™‚

The bride was lovely and you did a wonderful job on the alterations well done. Her MIL looked lovely too. Good job.
I really must send some photos, trouble is, I don’t take many. We went to Grantham on Saturday where John and I grew up. It was 30 C so we didn’t get out of the car much, and also we only had an hour till we met with my cousins. I think I said before that the house we lived in had been demolished years ago, It is now part of the bus exchange and the alleyways and back streets we used to play in are all part of the 70’s shopping complex. Much of the town is still the same, on the main road there are two hotels almost opposite each other and divided by a VERY narrow road they date back to the 1600’s I think. Before they built the motorway system the road (the A1) from London to Edinburgh (Scotland) ran through the town so you can imagine the bottleneck! Last time John took me to Grantham we went to our old Primary/Junior school which we attended till we were 11. In 2015 it was an antique hall, the kind where people rent spaces (I think your sister does that Jeanne?). Now it has no roof and the windows are all broken. I guess if I ever come again it will have modern houses on it, like grandad’s allotment.
I did eventually take a photo of my cousins and their spouses. After our tiki-tour around Grantham we went for a long lunch at a place called the Farriers (Grantham is very much a farming town), then went back to my cousin Joan’s house in a small village called Knipton. I didn’t take any photos of the village but I did in the past visit so will see if I can look some of them out. All the old houses were built of the local stone (I think it is limestone) which is quite yellow. All the villages around the town are exceptionally beautiful and have now been gentrified. Many are holiday cottages that are unoccupied for large parts of the year. Local people can’t afford them!
On Saturday we are going to my sister’s house in Huddersfield for a (very late) birthday party for me so will see everyone together who can make it. Then the next Saturday we are going to Plymouth, Devon to see Joanna, my niece, and her family. I have never been to Devon so it will be a special treat for me. Then on the way home we will spend a night or maybe two in Wantage so we can see my 91 yr old Aunty Sylvia and maybe some other cousins.
On Friday I will have been here 4 weeks. I can’t believe how fast the time is going! I have to go as we are going to the city this morning, John is potting! That is actual pottery, He is quite good at it. He certainly keeps himself busy. He still plays tennis regularly. I did tell him that Jan thinks he has a portrait in the attic (like Dorian Gray) and he didn’t deny it so there you go! LOL
    have a good day everyone.
