” Springtime Sweetness” for Kate, is now listed on Ebay!

Finally… after standing on my cutting table for more than a week, I was able to carve out some time (while my hubby delivered our tax information to the tax guy) and get this set listed on Ebay… You can see it by clicking the picture at the right side bar, or you can click HERE.

I took a few more pictures and even dressed Molly in the dress, so you could see how she looked.

I’m hoping to make more gloves over the weekend… and will decide who gets the last Easter dress… (probably) :o(

I’ve got to give some time to my hubby…it’s his BIRTHDAY Saturday! :o)

See you Monday,
Blessings, Jeanne

I love that you showed the dress on Molly as well; it was nice to see the two bows used on her braids, as well as in her hair when it was taken down.

    Happy birthday to George!

I started watching the video on Edith Flack Ackley, but the guy was moving the camera around so much, it almost made me seasick!! 😂 Still, it’s fun to see the dolls, and I’m quite sure I have at least one of the books that were on display. I noticed he said that her sister Marjorie Flack wrote “Make Way for Ducklings”, but that was by Robert McCloskey. She did, however, write “Angus and the Ducks” (as well as other Angus books) and “The Story about Ping”, both of which were about ducks, so perhaps those were what he was thinking about.

Yes, I was really tired last night, and actually slept two hours longer than I usually do! I had gotten up once after the phone rang, then crawled back into bed and got that extra two hours of sleep. I’m not dozing in front of the computer tonight!!

Thanks for straightening out the books by Edith’s sis Marjorie Flack. I owned the Story about Ping, as a child, and it was not my favorite. I think it made me sad how the ducks were treated, I guess.

    2. HI Charlotte,
I can’t believe I forgot to put Kit’s name in the title of my listing on Ebay… I didn’t even put the word DOLL in there… I was distracted while I was trying to get it listed…and had to fit in those long words… Springtime, Sweetness, American, Girl, and then I forgot to put doll and Kit… I almost ended it, but I had already gotten a bid,… so I said forget it.
I talked to Beth today at the food pantry and she said she read all the comments and watched the video and decided she won’t be giving the dolls to one of her grandkids… :o)
See, we all are making a difference in the dolly world! :o)
      Thanks Charlotte,
I hope you get caught up on your sleep soon… I’ve been so tired before I found myself reeling on my computer chair too. It’s kind of scary.
      Blessings, Jeanne

Jeanne, you caught me off guard there for a minute! After reading the title of today’s blog, I thought it sounded familiar! It certainly fits the outfit!

It looks adorable on both Kate and Molly! I really can’t say who wears it best, they both look wonderful in it and the collars make it so versatile! The hair bows, collars, gloves, petticoat and socks just add to the darling dress! The candy fits right in, too! What’s not to like?

I’m more than ready for some nice, calm weather after yesterday’s bad weather with hail and rain. We did come through it without much damage, compared to farther east of us, and then that huge snowstorm out west.

Happy St. Patrick’s Day to all the real and honorary Irishmen and women!🍀☘️🍀

    1. Linda in St. Louis

Oh, I completely forgot to add, “Happy Birthday” to George! I hope he has a wonderful day!

    2. Hi Linda,
I was so concerned about getting the words Springtime, Sweetness, and American, Girl, that I left out the word Doll and even Kit… Oh well, I’ve got a bid, so I can’t change it… I Hope it doesn’t matter.
WE didn’t get any of the storms you guys got… We got some winds but nothing out of the ordinary. I saw some pictures of St. Louis and it looked awful… hail that had knocked holes in car windows… Yikes!
Today was Reuben’s birthday too… I forgot his was the day before Georges… We are celebrating with Kristoffer Sunday…
      Thanks Linda,
      Blessings, Jeanne

Well, this outfit is going to go over so well. Those gloves make for a picture perfect Easter/spring outfit.
Will Jeanne, be whipping up George’s favorite birthday cake? 🙂 Maybe picking up a pizza is in order as well? A big happy birthday to George. And what a relief that the taxes are in order and off to the preparer. Reminds me that we need to check on the progress of ours as well.
Another spring day lies ahead here. Sorry about Marilyn and Sally’s Colorado, snow. However, I’ll be back out battling the weeds again this afternoon. Yesterday, the wind came up and stirred up my allergies. Yes, with all of the blooms, the pollen is fierce.
    Have a wonderful weekend everyone.

    1. Hi Joy,
It got a bid so quickly, I didn’t notice I hadn’t put the word Doll or Kit in my listing… rats!
I brought home a cake from the Food Pantry today… It was just a small one, but I’m not sure what kind of cake it was… it was chocolate, one layer, but it had what looked like spaghetti noodles for the icing, then a iced “easy over egg”, some carrots, and something like turnips… all done in that royal or buttercream frosting… What kind of a cake was this… something I don’t know about? I thought George would like a birthday cake with an egg on the top done in icing… I’ll try to take a picture of it before we cut into it. Kristoffer is coming Sunday to make stroganoff… yummy!
We are going out with some friends Saturday night to celebrate his birthday.
      Thanks Joy,
      Blessings, Jeanne

Happy Birthday to George! Hope he has a wonderful day.

I love this outfit on both Kate and Molly. I really like the picture with Molly’s hair in braids. Those gloves really add to the outfit. I remember each year for Easter we got hats, purses and gloves. That was back when we had to wear hats to church. When that changed the gloves seemed to go with them. The purses too until we got older.

Yesterday was not a fun day but definitely one I had hoped to accomplish for a long while now. We had built a nice, raised flower garden along our front walk. For awhile it looked great but between a few freezes and our mole problem, it became more trouble than it was worth. I really thought about “planting” some of those artificial flowers that are made for outdoors but that would not have solved the continual weed problem. But the biggest problem has been that people coming to our front door kept stepping on the stones surrounding the garden rather than coming up the driveway and using the front walk. I could not believe it. It’s definitely a dangerous thing to do because the stones are just sitting on each other and if someone were to lose their footing they would have come face down on either our front steps or the stones around the flower garden on the house side of the walk. I even saw people do this when things were icy. So I kept saying we needed to take it down but David and the boys had many other things to do and to them this was not a priority. To me it was a high priority. I might add they weren’t responsible for keeping it weeded. Finally I decided it was up to me to do something about it but it would be difficult for me to do it. The stones are heavy and the bottom layer was solid in the ground. My grandson, Skyy, was on spring break this week and offered to come out and help me. He came yesterday. Then while we were working Maryann, my college-age neighbor came over and said she was on spring break and would help too. Those two young people were amazing. Maryann used the shovel and popped the stones out of the ground one after the other. Skyy loaded up the stones and moved them to a staging area in the back, hopefully to use for something else. Then they both set to cleaning out the grass and weeds that had gotten into the flower bed so we could smooth it out and it can now be mowed when the yard is. I definitely paid them for their help but what they did was far and above any physical remuneration. They made an old lady’s day with their selflessness. Considering my sciatic nerve was giving me fits yesterday, these two were definitely answered prayer.

    1. Joy in northern CA

How great to have some help with “the project.” Wish I could hire your crew to help with the weeds happening here. 🙂 Glad you have things back in shape now. And hope that sciatic problem gets better soon. Hated when I had it.

    2. HI Barbara,
We used to always get the new dresses (usually made) sometimes a coat over the dress, gloves, a purse and a hat too… I had some doozies for pictures… I think I’ll pass sharing them…

It’s so nice when someone comes to your aid just when you need them most, isn’t it? Glad those kids helped you. All of you were winners… you got the job done, they got some spending money!
Nice to hear about some kids who have some initiative!
      Thanks Barbara,
      Blessings, Jeanne

  5. Well, last night was NOT fun! Bad storm with ping pong and slightly smaller hail and the tornado siren blaring. Almost lost power a few times. Spent some time in the basement, but luckily the tornado passed over us. We do have a lot of debris on the roads and yards to clean up. Scary night for sure.
Kate/ Molly both look very sweet. I hope George has a very Happy Birthday.
Happy St. Patrick’s Day to everyone! ☘️☘️☘️ We’ll be celebrating our Irish heritage here. It’s time to make Irish soda bread and colcannon.

    1. Joy in northern CA

Oh, so sorry about the storm. Sounds awful. At least you have a basement to retreat to in emergencies. So glad the tornado whizzed on by. Hope the damage isn’t too bad. Thinking of you.
We’ll be celebrating the Irish in my family on Sunday. Picked up some rye bread today. I don’t think I’ve ever had Irish soda bread. Guess we should try some. 🙂

    2. HI Laura,
The storm went above us and we didn’t get a thing… I’m sorry you had the bad weather. Hopefully, nothing was too damaged.
We are going to celebrate my hubby’s birthday on Sunday, with Kristoffer making Stroganoff… yay!
      Thanks Laura,
      Blessings, Jeanne
