~ Bunny in My Pocket ~ is now on Ebay… and “about those sandals….”

When I left you yesterday, I in a quandry about what to do with the “sandals” for tiny little Bailey, but I got the upper hand this morning, as I had all night to think about them. I was still awake at 4:30…

Actually, I was thinking more about Kathie’s family and what this day without her would be like. I am still processing it and I hadn’t ever met her. I checked my emails from us chatting back and forth and there were 98, but many of those had 3-5 back and forth comments… so I had lots to look through. What a sweet and gentle woman she was… our emails were about doing dolls hair, recipes for breakfast casseroles, questions about selling AG dolls on Ebay, encouraging one another with hard things going on, family pictures just for me, hubby talk, laces and fabric questions and LOTS more… She knew A LOT about A LOT of things… I am really going to miss her and I know you are too…

If you would like to send the family a card… here is her address:

Mike and Kathie Welsh
319 South 68th Street
Omaha, NE 68132

We will have a Kathie day soon… I can’t get it together for a few days… The wedding, where I altered that dress and put the ribbon lace-up back in it… is Saturday, and they want me to come early to lace up the dress, as nobody seems to be able to do it…

Okay now to the shoes… notice I didn’t say “sandals.” There’s a reason I couldn’t get the sandals made… I checked on Etsy and Ebay and a few other places and found NO NO NO sandals for the 6″ Twinkles… I took that as a sign, that they were MORE THAN difficult to make… It’s because the back of the heel doesn’t stick out enough to hold a strap in place…and then there’s that big toe that sticks up too…

So what did I do? I made a pair of slides and I think they will work fine… I do need to make smaller stitches in this tiny shoe… I use a leather prick that has holes 5mm apart… but that makes just a little bit too long of a stitch in such a small shoe. I did save my sole pattern, but will just increase the number of stitches next time. See how optimistic I am? I’m already talking about making another pair…

I have to admit, when you see the pictures on my Ebay listing, they look huge, because they are probably 10 times bigger than they are in real life. They are actually about 1 1/8″ long I think. The vamp (toe area) is snug on Bailey, so her toes hold them on without any need of a strap at the heel. They are her “slides” I guess, or her “mules.”

I added a little flower I punched out and then added a brown button for the middle. I think they will work… and I’m going to keep working on a sandal for her… somehow, someway… :o)

I also got a few more pictures taken, and ACTUALLY got the set listed on Ebay… my hubby was working on a job at the church and I was at home alone in my sewing room!

I hope you’ll like the set… you can see it by clicking the picture at the right side bar or you can click HERE.

Here are a few new pictures…

I will see you Monday,
Blessings, Jeanne

Thank you for Mike and Kathie’s address, Jeanne; I will try to get a card out to him and the family after I get home from Expo.

Congrats on getting this darling set listed–and first bid already!! Bailey looks quite pleased with her very grown-up-looking slides!

I had a couple of classes at Expo today, and did a “little” shopping. Tomorrow is “twinsie challenge day”!! I will be sure to get some pictures.

Once again, you had the perfect save for the shoes, Jeanne! The slides are so cute and perky looking coupled with the sunflowers on the dress! The added flower on the side is a cute touch! Anyone who has a Twinkie doll is going to love and want this set!

Thank you for giving us Kathie’s address, so her husband and children know that her kindness has touched us far from Nebraska, and how much we all loved and admired her.

  3. Loving the slides for this outfit. Those slides and the hat together will be so versatile for other outfits too. You definitely need to make more, Ten Ping would love to have these in every color imaginable too.
    Have a good weekend all.

So glad you were able to get the sweet outfit for Meadow Bailey listed. Good for you. I did not consider the fact that Bailey has an unusual heel but did know about that quirkie toe. I wonder if that stretchy clear elastic that they put in loops at the top of sweaters so it can be looped over the hanger hook to keep them from falling off might work for shoes? It’s almost sticky and fairly thin. I wonder if it is sold somewhere? I might even try it.
And thanks for the address for Kathie too. Such a terrible loss for all of us.
Here, lots of rain. And more expected. But, we have plenty to do figuring out our new high speed internet connection. We’re officially off cable as of midnight so no more being cut off the computer. Yay.
Can’t believe that it is March 1st. Next will be kite flying weather. 🙂

Jeanne, thanks so much for the address for Kathie. I’m sure I have it since I sent my two 18″ MA dolls to her but you made it easier to send a card quickly. Yes, she definitely will be missed.

Cute slides for Bailey. They actually look like clogs. She looks so cute in this lovely, spring-like outfit.
