Ruby Red Fashion Friend, James, is ALMOST ready for the Ebay runway…

I have a special need to get James’ set finished and listed on Ebay! Rebecca and Karn are coming home this next weekend!!! YAY and YIKES!
I have SO much to do and SEW little time! But I’ll do the best I can…

She called tonight to tell us and as excited as I was, I was in a bit of a panic! Okay, breathe, Jeanne, breathe!

Okay, now onto James’ outfit… what a dilemma I’ve been in, trying to figure out what to do… (Rebecca said she’d help me with some “boy” things when she gets here!) GOOD, I could sure use help. Little girls dresses come SO easy to me, but boy things certainly DO NOT! (She said she’d get some girlie things lined up too!) :o)

This is what I came up with for James’ set…

First of all I switched to a different pair of Jeans… there is no sense of having jeans with a belt and belt loops if he’s going to have his shirts untucked… it just makes it bulky around the waist.

And… you can see I switched his shoes too. I didn’t have time to make him a new pair, but these were some I made back when I made the other ones and they are a bit more “sporty”, I think…

Next I made him a red and white striped shirt. It’s a stretchy knit and looks pretty “boyish” to me…

Then I decided he needed a navy blue corduroy newsboy cap to make everything go together…

I am using the same blue plaid dress shirt for this set too… you’ll have to wait for my story line on Ebay…

I used this blue “almost cashmere” scarf and made James a scarf to fit his size.

He can wear the blue scarf with his blue shirt or his red and white striped one…

… Don’t forget his red corduroy vest…

Now I’ll show you some fun pictures with all different ways to wear his pieces…

Won’t this be a fun set for some young boy?
I hope you like it. I’m just so happy to have gotten it all pulled together…

See you tomorrow,
Blessings, Jeanne

I am loving all the pieces so far, Jeanne! And so is Nolan–I think he sneaks onto the computer when I’m not looking, and is dropping heavy hints that red and blue are his favorite colors!!

Oh, I meant to add, I was in SnapDoodle Toys in Kenmore, WA, the other day and they have quite a lot of miniature toys and games, some of which work for some of our dolls. I got a Slinky (!!!) and the cutest little yellow and black dump truck! It can be Nolan’s “matchbox” vehicle for Christmas!

This is really a very nice set for a boy, Jeanne, and even the pieces would work for a girl too! That corduroy newsboy hat is the cutest thing, and looks perfect! Oh yes, little (or big) boys much prefer their shirts to be outside their jeans for comforts sake! I love all the pieces and this will be a great addition for those who have boy dolls, since there aren’t too many options out there.

I’m so happy to hear that you will be having Rebecca and Karn soon, and we don’t expect that you can or will get much sewing done when they are here. First things first!!

That’s great that Rebecca/Karn can come for a visit. Are they staying until Christmas? Hope there is good traveling weather.
I like the photo of James, without the scarf, holding the tangle of Christmas lights. Looks like he will have to untangle them all before they can be strung on the house. I think he’s saying, “Help!” The new shirt is festive, so if there were pj bottoms, he’s have the perfect set for Christmas morning to wear while opening his stocking. Bottoms take what 20 minutes to make? I’d love to see those with the set.
Know you have a lot to do, but I think it will be nice to celebrate this month instead of the late date last year. Please take it easy though so you can enjoy the season as well. Don’t want you to catch any of the stuff going around.
My holiday RRFF girl is due in today. She traveled from HK to Anchorage. Then flew across the country to Memphis, catching another flight back to Oakland on the west coast. Should be out for delivery here today. Interesting how FedEx does their shipping and fun to track.

How nice that Rebecca and Karn are able to make it during the holiday season this year. Can’t wait to see what you and Rebecca get up to while she is here. More doll jewelry? My girls loved wearing their necklaces with their Easter dresses this year.

I do not have any boy dolls – mostly because I would share the dilemma of what to make for them to wear – but I do love James’ outfit. All of it. I sewed for my son when he was small but as soon as it was mostly jeans and tee shirts in his wardrobe I stopped. Don’t do blue jeans. But I did make his costume shirts when he was dancing. He was the only boy in the dancing school and for a few years there were boy costumes to coordinate with the girls’ but as he got older I guess the costume houses just figured boys don’t dance once they can play sports in school (he did that too). We found him a nice pair of black dance pants and I made his shirts to match the girls’ costumes. Sewing sequined fabric can be a bit troublesome but I got it done when I needed to.

Spring has returned to the SE Texas area. I understand it will just be for this week and then late fall/winter returns. Not sure which yet. Thankfully haven’t seen much in the way of colds around here. They usually crop up when the temps go up and down like they have been.

I know what you mean about temps going up and down Barbara. I have a bad cold and that is probably the problem here. Lots of colds going around. Sunday here it was 29C, yesterday (Monday) 12C. Can’t get much more extreme than that!

Hope you feel better soon. Sounds a lot like here when the seasons change, especially at this time of year. The weather can’t seem to make up its mind. High 60s-low 70s with nights in the 50s this week and then Sunday the high is 60 and the low will be 36 and all next week will be pretty much like that. At this time of year I have three seasons of clothes in my closet. I just move out the very summery clothes to make room for the very wintery ones.

  5. He is looking very boyish. The hat is just the right size and the jeans and shoes look nice together. The fit on the red and white stripe is right on and pants would make super cute Jammie’s… good idea Joy😉
The pictures with the Christmas lights look almost too real🫣
Have fun with Rebecca and Karn…they will be full of all kinds of fun ideas
My mid sized dolls…12 to 14”” are all dressed for the Doll Club Party tomorrow.
Didn’t realize how many Christmas outfits I had…some are from joining the Little Darling Christmas Exchange and some are actually wine bottle covers. Santa hats from Beth, bath&Beyond. They look pretty festive .

Oh, I hope you can take a pic of the kids dressed for Xmas, and send to Jeanne. Would be so fun to see. )

  6. All of James’ clothing and accessories are perfect! I like the idea Joy had about pj bottoms for the stripe top and I love that James is going to help stringing the lights!

I’m happy for you that Karn and Rebecca are coming to visit. Won’t Reuben be happy too! Hope they can stay awhile with you!

James is looking great. I think he needs a Christmas tree to carry too.
Have a wonderful time with Rebecca and Khan. My youngest, Russell, is going to Australia (Gold Coast) for Christmas so we are having an early Christmas on the 17th at Darren’s. We are still going to Darren’s for Christmas Day Breakfast though. I suspect Russell will check out work while he is there, I think he would love to go back, he lived there for 14 years.
Have a wonderful time with Rebecca, Jeanne, I’m sure you will find lots to do together.

  8. The whole set is beautiful! As a mother of two boys, I have to say I think you’ve got the look down perfectly.
