Did you ever LOSE something in your sewing room?

I did… and it took me a while to find where I had stashed it away! I’m talking about a pattern I had drafted for a cape. It was the one Rebecca and Addy shared when they modeled last year’s Christmas Caroler’s set.

I finally found it!

When I was putting away the “brick red” cut up wool jacket scraps, I noticed how well it looked next to Felicity’s fabric!

Hmmmmm… maybe I could use it for a cape…

I used my cape pattern and made this…
I decided to use the holes in the jacket design to give it a little interest…

See what you think…

Doesn’t it go wonderfully with her dress? Well, her “almost” dress…

I wanted you to see how it’s going to look…

I still have to finish the cape, but this is a great start…

When I was in town today mailing the dress that sold last night, I found these at a store and they couldn’t be a more perfect match to her dress.

I love it when I find the perfect “accessory” for the winner! :o)

I’ll keep working on things… and pretty soon we’ll have a new auction to bid on!!!

See you tomorrow,
Blessings, Jeanne

Oh, yes, Jeanne, I have definitely lost things in my sewing room (and if you ever saw it, you would understand Why!! 🥴) I think I’m still missing one pleater needle, but that could have landed in the trash, I suppose….I know I did buy a new bodkin (the clamp style) because I’d lost my old one–and then found my old one again! I prefer my old one, as it’s smaller.

I think that wool fabric is perfect with Felicity’s dress fabric, and should make a lovely cape for her! Wonderful how things just “happen” to go together sometimes, isn’t it?!

That candy looks delicious–I love toffee! I’m going to see if I can find some!

Jeanne, I can’t really say that I have lost things in my sewing room, because I don’t really have a room dedicated to sewing, but I do have a place for my sewing supplies are kept, and yes, many times things have been put where they don’t believe g, and are missing, until I come across them eventually.

Oh yes, that fabric works perfectly with Felicity’s “almost” dress! What a lucky find that top was for you! I love the blend of warm colors that show off Felicity’s auburn hair and green eyes, plus the fact it goes with the colors we see outside now in the fall. The perfect Thanksgiving dress!

You even found the perfect candy wrapper!😊

Hm. This cape may change my thinking about button and bow colors, but you are right — the color of the cape is perfect. How strange that when you match the flowers exactly at the waist, the stripes don’t match. You’ll work that out. I do like that fabric and those colors a lot.. Felicity is a very pretty doll, and those colors suit her and the season so well.

Dear Jeanne, I lose things ALL of the time, not in my sewing room though (laugh). When I moved earlier this year and did not pack things in an orderly fashion, I “lost” a ton of things, important things, but luckily everything eventually showed up. I really think that I need a personal assistant (smile).

The cape and the candy will definitely make some dolly and her Mama very happy.

Not so sure about this color on Felicity. It seems to wash out her fair coloring. Just my take, however, I’d like to see the outfit on another doll as well. I wonder how the cape would look with some of the fringe around the edges? I know you’re not done yet with the embellishments, but maybe some tiny beads at the center of the sleeve bows? I do like the lace neck trim without the buttons. Just seems more appropriate for a young girl. 🙂
I wonder if anyone is starting to work on holiday decorating? I know many will have their trees up by Thanksgiving. Not around here though. We’ll be lucky if we can even locate the tree in a box. 🙂

  6. Ok…I’m starting my post in the share your thoughts box… have not done anything else except read the others.
The cape matches amazingly well. Whoever said Thanksgiving dress is right..all the right colors. There probably are not any turkeys in your stash though 🙂 Hat
or bonnet? We will soon see.

I wondered why, when the flowers match up perfectly, the stripes on the faked skirt don’t. A clever friend pointed out that the flowers are growing up on the bodice but down on the “skirt.” The fabric has an up and down that I didn’t see. Did anyone else?

You are right, Marilyn! It’s very subtle, but there is definitely an “up” and “down” in this print! Sharp eyes!!
