The evolving pieces for Ten Ping’s 4th of July set…

I loved reading all your World Doll Day posts… I just had no time to respond.

My last aunt (on my dad’s side), died a few days ago and my sisters are coming home for the funeral. I have a lot on my plate this week, but I’m going to try and keep up with things on here…

I found some time Sunday evening to begin revising Ten Ping’s red, white and blue pieces for her latest set. I was listening to what you all said, and made a few changes. I changed up the little white crop top and took the elastic out… it looked too bulky at the bottom to me. I like the concept of a crop top and I’m going to work on it again for the next time. For now, I decided to take out the elastic, add low profile velcro on the back, and I added lace at the bottom for a smoother look… it covers up the waistbands and I hope you like it better…

I also took the white stretch elastic off the red skirt and added a casing for elastic to run through… I tried 3 times before I got it right… this was try number 2…

Here it is with the dress “look!”

Here is the top with the shorts and the red pants…

Since I changed up the top, I’ll have to take new pictures of everything since that top has changed…

I’ll see what I can do!
See you tomorrow,
Blessings, Jeanne

I am so sorry about your loss, Jeanne. It’s the end of that generation in your family.

My mother had a sister and two brothers; my dad had a sister and three brothers; of those, all but one was married. All of them except for my dad’s youngest brother are gone now–but Uncle Don just turned 100 last Thursday!! They had a party for him Saturday, and I would have loved to have gone, but a trip to Michigan isn’t in the cards just now.

The lace on the crop top is a nice touch, but I rather liked it the other way, too!! Either way it was a winner, I think.

The skirt waistband looks more like a regular garment now, although I have to say that elastic in a casing is definitely a thicker finish than the lingerie elastic that you had used before. However, if it’s going to be worn in a way it will show, this is definitely better.

This is one darling ensemble!! Cute cute cute!!

Oh Jeanne, I’m a complete fan of the new top! I’m not much on showing skin, especially the middle part (!) with a skirt, so this looks so much better to me! I love the lacey effect going on at the bottom of it, and for some reason, never saw that the red skirt had a fringe hemline, until now!! So cute! Not that it wasn’t cute before, but I didn’t care for the white elastic you used in the first place, so this looks more “finished” to me. I’m sure working on doll clothes this tiny is quite an undertaking, since things can get bulky looking pretty fast, but you did a wonderful job with this!

I’m sorry to hear of your aunt’s passing. It certainly is a milestone when the last living person of a certain generation passes away. My sympathy to you and your family.

Dear Jeanne, I am sorry for you loss. I am praying for blessings for you and your family.

Don’t worry about us here on the sofa we will be fine. We can do other things if you need to step away for a little while. We will come back with new stories (and perhaps new capers for Joy).

I will email my tea photos to you in case you want to use them.

    Sending healing hugs your way.

Sorry to hear about your aunt. Just three first cousins left around here, no siblings, or other relatives. Annual family picnic is next month, so we all get together. 🙂
Definitely like the no white elastic showing look. Good save adding the lace on the bottom of the white top. Love the red long pants. Cute. And your expertise shines on the blue shorts. Those big pockets placed so nicely that the gathers from the waist are inside. I always have trouble with pockets on a gathered waist outfit. 🙂
Had to reposition my garden netting on the raised beds yesterday. They look like a couple of teepees now. The crows had been able to walk on the top of the netting and peck in through to make themselves a nice salad. Grrr. Always something.

  5. Your changes are soooo good! I loved the crop top but this one is even cuter. Everything is coming together …. Darling changes.
So sorry about your Aunt’s passing…which probably brings back your Mom’s too with all the emotion . Will be nice to see the sisters again and maybe some cousins? Don’t worry about us. Give us a couple topics you would like hear our opinions on😉🤭

    Hi Jeanne,
So very sorry about your aunt. Condolences to you and your sisters.
Like some of the S.S. mentioned I also like the waist band on the skirt much better without the elastic showing. I understand the thought behind trying to make the waistband less bulky though.
    Hugs
    Ingrid

  7. So sorry for your loss, Jeanne. Prayers for you, Cindy, and Deb. We will be fine and think of things to talk about. The 4th of July set is really cute now. The finished waistband looks so much better and the lace to the crop top is a great touch.

So sorry to hear about your aunt. My mother’s remaining sibling, my favorite aunt, died less than a year after my mother. I can’t imagine what it was like for my Aunt Dawn to be the only one left. She was the one who had the most health issues, but she was the youngest born five years after my mother. Condolences to you and your family. We on the sofa will manage while you are tending to much more pressing concerns.

I actually love the new top better than the first. Sewing for the tiny dolls can present a problem with bulkiness. I have a lot of colored elastic I use for waistbands on my smaller doll clothes. Try as I might a casing and elastic always seems to make the doll look too fat around the middle. I love this outfit – and Mini Sara says me too.

Linda I did not get a chance to tell you how much I loved your World Doll Day displays. I didn’t even have time to think about it this year so I was glad to see yours. i was busy Saturday switching wardrobes from fall/winter to spring/summer. I was actually a little late this year so my closet was beginning to contain all four seasons and the closet is not big enough for that. I loved the outfit on Betsy (as usual) so I looked for the shop on Etsy but couldn’t find it. If you bought it awhile back perhaps she no longer has a shop, or you could point me in the right direction.

I saw where a Happily anniversary Ten Ping is next on the drawing board. I was going to get her, but I’m not that fond of her look. I’ll wait and see what comes next. A Mini Hanna maybe.

Thank you, Barbara! Yes, the shop is called TinyClothesline, note that that it’s the shop nMe,. If you just put tiny clothesline, you will find clotheslines, clothespins, etc., but it’s the SHOP name. I just. bought another top for Betsy, she is still in business. She makes cute separates, like tops, shorts, skirts, etc.

Are you talking about the new Ten Ping with the huge hairdo? If so, I can’t figure out how she holds her head up with all that hair!

      1. Joy in northern CA

I’m not a fan of what they call a 60’s hairstyle either on the latest Ten Ping. That’s why I didn’t order a Gigi. I like the original girls better. I have Ten Ping, Jar Lu, and Yu Ping. They really are cute together. 🙂 Hoping to find a Gigi, at some point. 🙂

      2. Barbara in SE Texas

Yes to the Ten Ping question. She always looks so cute but that hairdo does nothing for her. I’ll check for the shop just as you spelled it. Searching for shops on Etsy Isn’t easy. Sometimes I just type in the name of the doll I’m trying to dress but that didn’t work this time. I was getting all kinds of dolls and you are so right about the clotheslines, clothespins, etc. finds.

Sorry for your loss Jeanne, I only have my Mum’s youngest sister left, she is eighty-nine and living on her own still since she lost her husband.
I have my appointment with the surgeon on Thursday then surgery on Monday.

    1. Dorothy in PA and the World

Dear Anne, we will be holding you in prayer. Do let us know how you get on.

    2. Joy in northern CA

Okay, sounds like a go! Please keep us informed. We’re all pulling for you. 🙂

  10. I am so sorry for your loss. Losing friends and family never gets easier, but I am sending prayers your way.

I have been away from this list for several years while I let the world close in on me, but am now in a better frame of mind so am catching up.

The clothes you make for dolls around the world are simply amazing and I love watching the design process until you come up with the perfect design…at least to my eyes. Your eyes probably work much better and harder than mine do. Thank you so much for your hard work and for sharing so much.
