My day was filled with the blues…

Don’t be worried… I’m okay! It’s just a catchy title…

But… you’ll see in a minute why I used it…

I wanted to paint my “island” today, so I gathered the paint brush, taped off the “top” area so no paint would get on it, put a tarp down on the floor, got a paint stirrer, a paint can opener, but something was missing. I couldn’t find the paint!! It was probably back in November when we bought it and my hubby remembered he bought a little sample jar of the color we wanted and a bottle of some wood finisher for butcher block type surfaces.

We looked everywhere… upstairs in the attic, in the basement, in the garage, in every closet and drawer that could hold it. After at least 45 minutes of searching, he found it up on a shelf in the guest room. Finally, I could start…

My hubby likes the color of our buffet in the dining room… its called Smokestack Gray but it’s really a very nice blue if you ask me. That’s why he likes it too.

I wanted it to dry overnight so that was all I got done on the island… don’t you think that color qualifies as a “blue?” I think it will be a pretty color in my kitchen.

Okay… my next “blue” to discuss. I wanted to make Emmie a pretty blue slip to wear under her dress, but it just wouldn’t cooperate. This blue ruffled fabric is a mesh fabric and somewhat stretchy, so the yoke area, when topstitched, drew up and just kind of hugged her hips and belly… I redid it 3 times and finally gave up…

…and went with this white slip, using my non-stretch tulle… first time and this slip was complete.

It looks sweet on Emmie and holds her dress out wonderfully.

Well, that was my blue day, but it wasn’t that bad!!

Hope to see you tomorrow,
Blessings, Jeanne

That does look like a nice soft blue for your island,Jeanne, and will tie in with the other touches of blue in your house.

I generally don’t do “blue” rooms (or blue In rooms), though–for some reason, a blue room makes me feel claustrophobic! It has to be REALLY light (like the blue in our bathroom) to avoid that. I can admire it in other people’s homes, but I just can’t live with it in my own. Go figure….

Oh, my, that blue petticoat is just gorgeous! I would have LOVED to have had one like that when I was a young girl!! Maybe if you got some non-stretch tulle for the yoke, you could still carry it off? Maybe make a few for your etsy shop, and thus salvage most of that ruffly tulle, anyway.

Emmie’s dress is so pretty with the (white) petticoat underneath! I think she may want to “twirl”!!

This color looks remarkably like what I call Martha Stewart Green. Nice repurposing job.

    1. The paint color is so pretty…the finish has a nice sheen to it too. The design shows up so well when it is painted. That will look great and what a fun addition to the kitchen☺️
Another “Darling” dress. Love the blue and the white slip will be great with any dress. Not a big fan of the bow but I have no suggestions for anything else🤔 will be fun to see what you come up with for accessories.

Love that blue slip. I like how it flairs. Looks fine to me. 🙂 Sorry it didn’t work out.
Can’t wait to see a pic of the little stand in your kitchen. Perfect color I think. Glad you were able to find the paint. 🙂
We received our sprinkles last evening, so no watering required around here for a few days at least. Hopefully, it also settled the pollen as my sneezing has been unending.

I second what Susette said about the color being “Martha Stewart Green”! What a pretty color! I’m sure it will add “something” to your kitchen and give it a one of a kind look!

I liked the blue slip, but prefer the white one with that dress. So pretty and crisp looking!

Will this wind ever go away? I can’t think you have been able to take any doll pictures outside in this, Jeanne!

I love the blue slip. So sorry it didn’t work out but I liked Charlotte’s idea of replacing the yoke part and maybe using it down the road or putting it in your Etsy shop. I’d even buy it as is, but I understand your reluctance to include it in the auction for the dress if you’re not 100% satisfied.

Emmie’s dress is lovely and I really like the lace cuffs on the sleeves. I received my order for the laceup applique. Two of them are black and I’m planning on using one of them on a dress for Halloween (witch). I’ve been putting off doing the dress because I didn’t want to mess with doing the eyelets but this applique is a great solution. The other two appliques are pale pink and a lighter pink with darker pink on the sides. I did some more searching but could not find white.

The paint on your island looks blue to me and I tend to like blues. The aluminum trim on our house is blue. When Sean took a piece of the aluminum trim to the paint store for matching to paint the hardy plank on the outside of our new addition, he was surprised at the name. It’s called Azure blue, which is the name of our grandson. The Azure part anyway. And our dining room is painted a pale blue.
