Ruby Red Fashion Friend, Freida, gets a bonnet to go with her Civil War dress…

My day was busy but I did manage to figure out what I wanted for Freida’s hair… a bonnet, of course, but there are SO MANY different styles… so it took me a little while to decide. I did decide I wanted to leave her hair long and showing; not pulled back, so I just made a simple bonnet with a small ruffle around the edge.

In the middle I added a piece of lace and then on top of that, I did some hand work with some beads picking up the colors of the fabric.

Doesn’t it frame her face sweetly?

I also wanted to make this super easy to put on, so I added one of my pre-tied bows that goes under the dolls chin and just snaps onto the other side. Easy peasy…

One step closer to finishing this up…

We’ll have to see what tomorrow brings…
See you then,
Blessings, Jeanne

That hat is just the right touch, Jeanne! Freida is looking quite pleased with how this outfit it coming together!

How sweet Freida looks now, Jeanne, with that little bonnet! No matter what the hairstyle of the buyer’s doll, this bonnet is sure to please and will look good! The whole ensemble is coming together so nicely!

You asked the other day, if we had any wind. You better believe it! The one good thing about it, is the helicopters on our silver maple are just about all down now, so we can do the clean up, and the yellow pollen is steadily dropping from the oak trees. One thing after another, but the wind is helping in that regard.

Freida looks very happy with her new outfit. Lucky girl.
And on to summer. The dolls around here need capris/shorts and cute tops because we’re supposed to hit 80 the next couple of days. How about a swimsuit as well?
Time to get the raised beds ready for planting. 🙂

A swimming photo shoot has been on my agenda for years now. Maybe this summer. I have the patterns and fabric for the bathing suits and even a pattern for a cute pool and the fabric for that. I just can’t seem to dedicate myself to sewing the bathing suits since there always seems to be something else on the drawing board.

I have the stuff to make a pool as well. Maybe this summer. Ha ha. And swim suits would be so fun. I did make one last year, but that’s as far as I got. 🙂

I really love this sweet little dress and the pretty little bonnet. The fabric is lovely and I’m partial to paisley fabrics myself. The new wig gives Freida a whole new look and now I’m giving my Freida (Naomi Ruth) a second thought to see if maybe I can soften the appearance around her face a little.

  5. A perfect bonnet. I was at first thinking of the kind you make with wool felt, but with self-fabric the ruffled edge is so sweet. The black and blue seed beads add just the right hint of sparkle. Btw, I would love a tutorial on how to make the blanket edged wool felt ones for PC/AG girls sometime.
Freida is looking super pleased with this gown.

  6. Super sweet bonnet! Her coloring and that paisley trimmed in white are spectacular together. She couldn’t look any cuter.
Have a nice weekend…we will stay in and be warm…low in 20’s for two nights🥶

Agreed with Laura on the bonnet ruffle. The bonnet is perfect, but now Freida needs a purse. I love this blue fabric — it’s perfect for Freida. It might be fun to see it on a doll with different coloring too.

We’re supposed to have both rain and snow next week. Clouds today.

On the bad news front, I just saw that there’s a new Covid variation, this one with pinkeye as a symptom. One more thing to watch for.

    Stay well, everyone.
