Christmas in APRIL?

Sure… Why not?

I told Reuben his “sister” was coming today and he knew just where to sit and watch for her…

Here is a 13 second video of them seeing each other… he was SO excited!!!

It seemed like any other Christmas day once we got started. :o) I turned the lights on the tree and the only thing missing was some Christmas music playing softly in the background.

The kids arrived from Pennsylvania in the afternoon and after they brought in their stuff and we chatted for just a little bit… it was decided that Christmas WAS going to happen today! I had lots of gifts for them! Having 3 extra months to gather up things was kind of fun… little things like a new seam ripper, chocolate, a coupon holder she mentioned, a hair clip in leather with a long horn on it, and some other things…

I only took one picture of the kids and it’s not very flattering… Karn was eating a banana and Rebecca was pooped from the long drive.

We had fun taking turns opening a package and watching to see what they got… I had forgotten some of the things I had wrapped back in December, when they were “supposed” to have come…

Rebecca brought Reuben a new toy, a squeaky Llama, and he loved it…

I think Reuben’s FAVORITE present was sleeping on her lap!

Rebecca said she had something for me, that wasn’t a Christmas present, but she just wanted to give it to me…

That’s American Girl, Lea… she found her at a thrift store, for FIVE dollars! Her story is she’s from St. Louis, Missouri… that’s 2 hours from where I live… how fun!

She had a shiny spot on her forehead and tip of her nose…

BUT… I have some micro-mesh sandpaper in 1800 and 2400 grit and look at Lea now…

I had to smile… at this…

Rebecca said her hair was a tangled mess when she found her, so she washed it and used her own detangler on it… it looks really nice now… then she scrubbed her down, washing her limbs… when she put her shoes back on, she got them on the wrong feet… :o)

After “Christmas” we had lunch, then the guys went to the garage and we went to my sewing room… she brought LOTS of her beads and pearls and findings, and I showed her my new things… She said she hopes we can have a day of making things together… me too!

This was just Day 1, but it was wonderful!

See you tomorrow,
Blessings, Jeanne

Oh my goodness, what excitement at tyour house yesterday!! Reuben is the cutest thing wsith all the tail-wagging and dancing around his “favorite” sister!! I’m sure everyone was happy and to see each other, and your tree looks just beautiful, even in April! So happy that they got there safe and sound!

For a minute, I thought that Lea was Rebecca, the American Girl Rebecca, that is! She looked so familiar, yet the clothes weren’t right for Rebecca., and her hair was longer. Then it dawined on me that since it was Lea, they could be twins! So nice of you to have a St. Louis girl, and what a bargain she was!

    Let the festivities continue!

What a happy day you all had, and Reuben looks like he hit the Christmas jackpot, seeing her again! And what lovely doll she found for you (and super price!). Glad you were able to get rid of the shiny spots–Lea turned out very pretty!!

Enjoy the rest of your time together–it’ll fly by way too fast, I’m sure.

That was a Christmas worth waiting for. I’m sure all of you were as happy as Reuben, but people don’t get to show it as much. It sounds like you are in for some very nice days — and your own Lea to have as a reminder of Christmas in April.

  4. Merry Christmas!! Love the Reuben reaction and especially him watching for “sister.”

That is so neat Reuben understood that Rebecca was coming and waited for her by the window! That picture of him with his tongue poking out and his llama turned out especially well. Lea looks beautiful. This afternoon is piano lessons with Christmas music. I hope I pass them all. 🙂

  6. It’s sounds like all of you were having a wonderful reunion and celebration of Christmas! Especially little Reuben!! Loved the picture of him on Rebecca’s lap. Enjoy your time with the kids. It was nice to see their picture too. Hope you have fun in the sewing room with Rebecca. Thank you Jeanne for sharing.

Looks like Reuben had a wonderful holiday. Looks like his dreams have come true. 🙂 And how nice for Lea to have a makeover which looks like a great save. Maybe tell Rebecca to be on the look out for Connie Lowe and Ruby Red Fashion Friends dolls as well. 🙂
Glad your belated Xmas was a success. Hope there is time to explore lots of thrift stores and estate sales around your area. Metal dollhouses with their 50’s furniture would be a great find. 🙂
    Happy Merry!

So glad the “kids” finally made it. But it was fun anticipating Christmas in April I’m sure. I’m always amazed at Reuben’s reaction to Rebecca’s return and sitting at the window waiting for her is so sweet. Love the video.

How nice of Rebecca to bring you Lea – all cleaned up with her hair washed too. I know you and Rebecca are going to have a lot of fun creating with each other. I laughed at the shoes on the wrong feet. My daughter-in-law did that a lot with the grandkids when they were small. Can’t wait to see what comes out of the Jeanne & Rebecca craft shop this week.

  10. So glad you got to finally have Christmas in April. So sweet to see Rueben waiting patiently and then such a happy little guy. Lea was a great find and will be fun to sew for. Micromesh really works wonders. Hope Rebecca and you have a fun and creative week.

    Hi all
Jeanne I do read the blog every day even though I don’t often comment. I felt I really had to today after seeing the pictures of Reuben with Rebecca. When we were moving Singapore we left our lovely dog with my parents. When we came back for a visit after two years Sandy went crazy, she hadn’t forgotten us at all. The video was so cute.
I hope you all have a wonderful visit, I am so lucky to have my daughter not only near me but living with me. I would miss her so much if she lived so far away. Have a fabulous time

  12. Love seeing the Christmas celebration… it is fun whenever it happens😉 The newly weds look great.Reuben is so happy… makes you wonder what is going thru their little minds.
Lea is a cutie she will be fun in most any color.
Continue on with Christmas fun. Having Holiday Food too? Hope so🫶😋

  13. HI Jeanne, I’m very curious about your “micro-mesh” I googled, AND looked on Amazon. It was a bit pricey there. I’m wondering where you bought yours, and if you could expound on other uses for it. Thanks so much.

    1. I bought my micromesh from someone on Ebay… and yes, it’s a little high priced for what you get, but I bought the 1800 and the 2400
grit and I think it came in a 4 or 6 pack set… You just can’t find it at any place around here, so I had to order it… just don’t forget,
you have to wet it when you use it… An auto body place might carry some for painting cars…
      Thanks, Jeanne
