Some Early Spring Doll Dresses From The Archives…

HI everyone,
Thank you for your kind words about the wedding dress… hopefully Friday morning, when she tries it on, it will work as I’m hoping it should. I’ll try to remember to take some pictures this time…

I spent my day cleaning house and getting ready for Rebecca and Karn to get here… and doing a little last-minute Christmas wrapping! Yep, we’ll be having Christmas, April 3rd, if everything goes according to plan. Then the tree is coming down… hopefully, Tuesday!

The guest room is cleaned, but that is just for me… they like our bedroom since it has the master bathroom, so they’ll be in there. I got the sitting room done, the computer area and my sewing room almost finished. Bit by bit I’m getting there.

I didn’t have time to do any sewing today, or even think about it for that matter, so I’ll have to show you some pictures of some of my doll dresses from the archives… Maybe I’ll show some dresses that might have been early Spring dresses. I’ll show some Easter dresses next week…

Here is 7 1/2″ Riley, by Helen Kish…

11″ Bitty Bethany, by Helen Kish…

14″ Wren Pistachio, by Helen Kish…(the Chrysalis collection)

14″ Debut Song, but Helen Kish… (the Chrysalis Collection)

10″ Elin, by Iplehouse dolls… ( I painted her face)

17″ Nyssa, by Kaye Woods…

Well, that will have to do… I have to get to bed because I have to go see if this wedding dress fits now! Pray that it does!

See you tomorrow,
Blessings, Jeanne

First, congrats on the successful auction! Nice going!

Then I have to comment on the beautiful dresses in your post. My favorites, of course, are the lavender ones, but my Very favorite is the second lavender one (on Riley), That combination of fabrics/trims, etc., just “sings” to me!!

Yesterday Barbara commented, “Oh the stories those who sew could tell!” Maybe that could be a post on one of your busy days! Or maybe some of us could send you pictures of our weddings (maybe by a certain date, so you could use them as one post). Just a thought.

  2. I remembered after I closed my I pad I didn’t even mention what a clever fix you did for the bride dress. Weren’t you glad there was that extra fabric folded in the back!🤗 She will love it!
Ah… all the Kish dolls in their Spring finery. I see some of your favorite floral print and some eyelet with a curved edge( so unusual) They gave the sweetest faces.
Enjoy your time with Rebecca and Karn. Hope Spring temps happen too even if it is Christmas🫶🎄

Well, that was fun. Loved seeing the variety of styles and fun fabrics for spring and summer. Sweet girls too. Especially Wren. One of my favorites. 🙂
All of that cleaning makes my head spin! Such a nice mom. 🙂
Sure hope that dress fits. Pics would be so appreciated.
And on to the weekend. 🙂

  4. Absolutely love this post about the Kish dolls. I have them also, but not as well dressed as your dolls. Brittany Bethany is exquisitely dressed! Love the hats, would like to know where to buy hat patterns.

I just found your blog recently.

Welcome, Marda! We’re glad you’re here! We call this group the Sofa Sisters, and there’s always room on this sofa for one more!

I always love when you post fashions from your archive. They are all so lovely. I’m glad you posted a couple of Wren. I have a Wren and right now the poor dear girl has the dress she came in and a pants set for casual wear. that I made. She has a wardrobe of shoes since I love that her feet are made so she can wear pretty heels. Now she just needs the dresses to go with them. I love the two you have pictured.

I need to get to some cleaning myself today. Some places I just gave up on until they finished the construction project. They’re done and I’ve lost my excuse. Our tree is still up because the tree box it came in was falling apart so David has been making a box for it, among the myriad of other things he has been doing. He says it is finished now so I guess taking Christmas down before Easter will be one of my upcoming projects.

What a night I had last night. I dozed off for a little while I was waiting for David to come in for supper so I had trouble getting to sleep anyway, but around 1:30 a.m. I was hearing strange sounds and it finally dawned on me the wind was picking up. That usually means we’re in for a storm. I checked my weather app and saw where there was rain headed our way but nothing major on the radar, but the wind was blowing hard and the gusts were downright scary. Then I heard a couple crashes outside. The two ladders they used for painting were against the wall of the house and I think that’s what I heard but we have one tree that is going to have to be trimmed because it’s starting to worry me. David slept through the whole thing but I talked to Jason this morning and he said it woke him up and his dogs were frantic. It finally settled down about 3:30 and I think I fell asleep around 4:00. We did not end up getting any rain at all. I got up at the usual time but am definitely feeling the effects of not getting a full night’s sleep. I really don’t like when stormy weather comes during the night.
