See what’s new for Lian’s “Bunny in my Pocket” dress set!

Well, I’m deep into being busy for the upcoming 35th Anniversary of our church… I’m decorating and setting the tables Saturday and then when I come home, I’m making several batches of corn casserole (of course!) and baking cookies. I’m hoping to just enjoy my time Sunday… I’m not in charge of the food, or anything else (that I know of), so I’m going to enjoy the day!

I gathered up most of my stuff for Saturday, tonight, and had some time left over (she gasps!) and found myself in my sewing room making a pair of white thigh highs to go with the dress, as well as including the lavender ones. A few ladies mentioned it and you know me… I aim to please! :o)

See….

So I looked at her straight on, and studied her dress, and we decided together a hat would be perfect… I looked in my wool felt stash and had JUST the color I needed… dark purple! YAY!

Then I looked in my die cut felt flowers and had the 3 colors I needed in them too…

Then I looked in my tiny micro buttons and had just what I needed in them too…

Total success tonight… I did draft a new hat for Lian though… I tried 3 different times and I think I have finally, finally, finally, gotten the pattern the way I want!

Here are a few shots of it…

What do you think? She looks pretty good in these jewel toned colors, doesn’t she?

Sorry for the overload on the pictures… I’m working on my lighting still…

I was in town yesterday looking for candles and didn’t find any at this store, but I did find something I had to buy… Iddy Biddy Bunnies for Bunny in my Pocket! :o)

Well, I will see you when I return on Monday. I’m sure I won’t get anything else done in my sewing room over the weekend.
Have a wonderful weekend!
Blessings, Jeanne

The hat is darling, Jeanne, and I love the felt flowers on it too! And thank you for including those white thigh highs! They show off the shoes better I think!

Those darling puffed sleeves with lace and bows, the pretty square neckline, and the sweet lace trimmed hem, not to mention that darling bunny peeking out of her pocket, well, what’s NOT to like? To top it off, the teensy chocolate bunnnies! This one is not going to stay with you long, I’ll tell you that!

Congratulations on your church’s 35th anniversary! We had our 50th last year, and it seems like yesterday when we started our parish! We were one of the first parishioners and have seen it grow through the years. So many wonderful memories are connected with it, like I am sure yours has. Enjoy your day!

    1. Hi Linda, how wonderful to have your church’s 50th anniversary last year. I just have to comment on another young church though. We are having our 185th this year in June. Our church was founded Pentecost Sunday 1838. The building, sanctuary, and pews are all the same. Rich history as we still sit on the same pews where antebellum ladies and gentlemen sat so long ago and it is STILL surrounded by farmland.

That’s amazing, Laura! Our church was also built with farmland surrounding it, but new subdivisions have taken away all that. One saving grace, though, it was built right next to a park, with woods and a lake, plus a golf course, so we still see trees, and have lots of wildlife around here. Our subdivision is right next to our church, and also next to the park, so it still feels a bit rural.

The hat is just perfect for Lian and her dress. It fits beautifully, too. You surely do put a lot of work into your outfits!! The treat is also a perfect match with the theme of the outfit!

  3. Your talent just shines, Jeanne. Everything goes together so beautifully. I know this one will be a favorite. Have a wonderful day on Sunday and just enjoy yourself.

  4. These last two outfits are just over the top. Congratulations on a wonderful auction too. The bunny in the pocket outfit is just darling and the felt hat really completes it. It’s another beautiful set. Lian wears it well.

Hope everyone’s enduring the weather in their area!

Jeanne, busy as always and still turning out a sweet dress. 🙂 I was thinking from the start that it would have some kind of a belt/sash, but with the pocket dots, not sure that would work. Has anyone compared the measurements of a RRFF Siblie to a Little Darling? I’ve been curious as to whether they can share fashions. Maybe.
My latest girl arrived from Spain, Damarella. She is really a lovely doll in her snow white outfit. I was able to get her inside by the door even though the UPS driver Rang the Bell! Ugh. However, after closing the door, I turned around and there was other person standing there shaking his head. Whoops. Caught yet again.
When the clouds lifted yesterday morning, we had a view of snow on the mountain peaks. A very rare occurrence. Turns out that the counties around us had road closures, snow days, and just about everyone there without power. Our power did not flicker. Lucky us.
Have a great weekend everyone. 🙂

Hi, Joy. I didn’t measure an LD in comparison to a Siblie. but I can tell you that I made the same dress for both of them using patterns designed by Kathy Anne Designs and there is a decided difference in the size of the pattern pieces. If I put the dress that is on my Siblie right now on my LD, it would not fasten in the back because the LDs do tend to be broad around and the Siblies seem to have more of a waist. And there is a difference in height. I don’t know if this helps and I’m sure you can reduce an LD pattern for a Siblie but there would definitely be adjustments needed.

      1. Joy in northern CA

Okay, that really helps. They are close in height I know, but haven’t sewn for the LD’s in a long time. Can’t thank you enough as it saves me buying a pattern for an LD and having it not fit. 🙂

    2. Hi Joy, oh, so close. The ringing doorbell is what made you fail the dolly caper. Maybe you need to still a “Please don’t ring bell” sign out there when dolls are expected to give you a fair chance.

That is a great idea. Old eagle eye is on the look out so he’d probably go out and see the note. He just saw an Amazon truck stop and complained that I was getting another doll. I told him no, well not from Amazon so it isn’t quite a lie. But, I do have one coming UPS. However, I’m not sure it will be today or Monday, because it still hasn’t said anything about being out for delivery. May have missed the truck this morning even though it says delivery today. If it doesn’t say out for delivery, I probably won’t get it today. We’ll see. 🙂

I love the hat. So perfect with the dress. What a precious little outfit. Lian is one of my favorites. She always looks so cute in whatever you make for her. I like both sets of thigh highs and I like choices so this outfit works for me.

  7. Lian’s hat is darling. The whole outfit is very sweet. She will enjoy wearing it for a little while. Have a great time tomorrow, Jeanne.

    Good morning all.
Jeanne, Lian looks lovely in her new outfit. I quite like purple myself, though it isn’t a colour I wear much but it really looks wonderful on Lian.
When I went to UK in 2019 for my sister’s golden wedding anniversary their church was having their Bicentenary, 200 years. It was a whole week of free activities I don’t remember all of them but there was a wine tasting night, a chocolate tasting night and an ethical fashion night though that was a talk on ethical fashion not a fashion show but they had all sorts of stalls around the sides selling trade aid and other fair trade products, plus some stalls showing how they re-use and repurpose items. I believe it took 2 years planning! My brother-in-law remarked that it was sobering to think they had been members there for 25% of that time lol!

Seriously Jeanne I hope you had a good time at your dinner and for once was able to enjoy yourself. You deserve a rest. In fact I don’t know how you do it all.

Still waiting for my hip operation. The downside of free health care, though before Covid I would have a date by now. Unfortunately we are desperately short of doctors and nurses, not everyone wants to live on the other side of the world!

On another subject entirely, We had a talk at our Patchwork meeting recently from a member who was also the daughter of a member who had passed away nearly 4 years ago. While it was (in her case) craft related, I think it applies to those who are doll collectors too, in fact all collectors. She was urging us to make a will. Not a legal will regarding your general assets like money, houses or land. Most people who have any of those things make a will anyway. This is more specific regarding who gets the contents of your sewing/craft room, or your dolls or whatever it is you collect. She was telling us how hard it is to decide what to do with the thousands of dollars’ worth of stuff her mum had and where it should go and also how really stressful it is too for the family, they are still working on it after 4 years. Anyway I thought it was worthwhile to share it. Especially if you have someone you would love to give your dolls to but haven’t actually shared that with your family! You could save them a lot of worry and stress.

You are all looking forward to spring and we are almost into autumn. In the South Island we have had virtually no rain since Christmas until last week. Unfortunately that is not the case in the North Island! They have had rain, rain and more rain culminating in a Cyclone (Gabrielle) which has caused massive flooding from the far north down the East Coast to Hawkes Bay. I used to live in Napier and two of my Grand children and my two great granddaughters live there. Fortunately they are fine. Same can’t be said of the roads! They have had huge slips and many slips have taken the road with them, lots of communities cut off with no access to food or water except what can be helicoptered in. That was last week, now the very heavy rain has returned and because the ground is so sodden it is all flooding again. A big problem has been what is called ‘slash’ This is the branches and other detritus from forestry, left behind when the companies have taken all they want. The slips and flooding have taken all this stuff with them and this has caused the most damage, particularly to bridges. In one area it is so bad it has dammed the river. If it goes it will cause yet another flood. 11 have died so far and 13 are still ‘uncontactable’ as of last night. The figure was 3000 (uncontactable) three days ago so at least it is better than it was but my heart goes out to the families both of those who have been lost and those who are still missing.

On that depressing note I will have to get ready for church. Not sure if it is still raining but it was a while ago. Enjoy your spring ladies. I love Spring, it is a pity we have to endure winter to enjoy it lol. Have a great day.

    1. Joy in northern CA

So nice to hear from you, Anne. I read about the cyclone and wondered if your area was okay. Glad to hear you are fine, but sad to hear about others who are having a tough time.
We’ve been having snow in the hills here. Very rare. Fortunately, our power hasn’t gone out. 🙂 Can’t wait for warmer weather, but the rain has certainly helped our reservoirs.
Have you been doing any quilting? Your things are such works of art.
Hope you can get an appointment for your hip operation soon. I suppose there is a waiting list? or how do they know who is next?
      Take care.

  9. Every one of these purple fantasies are brilliant. The hat is always my favorite style and so glad you got to use the felt flowers…they are such a great match.
Have fun at the church Anniversary!
We were on hand for the start of our parish in the early 70’s in a tiny town of 1500.
We lived in the country…used the grade school cafeteria on Saturday night for a long time and the Methodist Church, that had been there since late 1800’s let us us their basement for CCD Classes. Mike stained and varnished the first altar and I made the little white bibs for the baptisms and put the baby’s names on them.👼
