American Girl, Felicity, visits “Jeanne Marie’s Hat Shoppe!”

Another busy day again today… and did it rain where you live? I know some of you got snow… but we got rain… ALL DAY LONG and by the buckets! It stopped a little while ago and YAY… no leaks in my sewing room! It’s a good thing because Felicity wanted to visit my Hat Shoppe!

She told me she wanted a straw hat with blue and white flowers with just a touch of green… but first she said she wanted a mob cap in a pretty lacy fabric, but not too frilly…

I found this piece of fabric in my stash and she liked it, so we gave it a go…

This is what it looks like before I make a hat… I never know what it’s going to look like until I’m finished! :o)

I kept this one pretty simple… as I didn’t have very many different blue flowers… I used a white rayon ribbon for the ties.

So here are a few pictures I took…

I started out with my wooden window backdrop but it seemed a bit busy, so for today’s post, I just took them against my wall…

I like to have the hat pulled down on the sides just a little bit to give it a curve…

I added the pelerine to see how dolled up she looked…

I think I can do better pictures for Ebay…

Felicity left Jeanne Marie’s Hat Shoppe with a smile on her face, so I guess she liked the look! I’m guessing this might be her new Easter dress!

See you tomorrow,
Blessings, Jeanne

Jeanne, you think Felicity LIKED her new outfit? I think she LOVED it! Jeanne Marie’s hat shoppe did a wonderful rendition of the perfect Easter bonnet, plus she can wear it all spring too! The whole look is just gorgeous, and what Colonial girl would’t want this? How are you going to top this one, it is only January!!!

Jeanne, I forgot to mention, yes, it rained and rained and RAINED all day yesterday! A good day to stay in, and stay in I did!

Felicity’s new headwear is lovely, Jeanne!! All the pieces of this ensemble work so well together.

And I think you may already have a name for this outfit, although you may not realize it yet: “Dolled up for Easter”!

Update: Mother and baby went home from the hospital today–yay! Thanks for all the congratulatory comments, everyone!

We had some fairly heavy rain for a short time last evening, but it moved on quickly, and it is clear this morning. Now, looks like no rain for some time according to the weather people.
Felicity is ready for the spring season. Around here, I’m still trying to finish something from Halloween. Ha ha

Felicity’s outfit is gorgeous, and all the pieces complement each other so well. I really can’t wait to see what’s next on the sewing agenda because Easter isn’t until April so there is plenty of time for many more. Maybe an Easter ensemble for a Little Darling with one of those precious straw hats you make from a mold.

Today is our 43rd wedding anniversary. Seems just yesterday it was January 19, 1980. Many years and much stuff along the way. Some fun to look back on, some not so much. Such is life. David and I were joking the other day about how long it has taken us to make the driveway, indoor laundry room and second bath happen. That would be 32 of our 43 years. It took 25 years to finally get rid of my 1945 kitchen. We still have the roof to go. David told me to stick around and he’ll eventually get things done. All I can think of is the saying about patience being a virtue. If such is the case I am very virtuous.

Happy anniversary, Barbara. I laughed at your patience being such a virtue. Indeed, in your case, certainly yes. Hope something special is going to happen today.

Happy 43rd, Barbara! Won’t be long now before you will be celebrating your 50th! It goes by in a flash!

The past 43 sure have. If we had married each other in the beginning (me 6/9/68 and him 6/30/68) we would be married over 50 years. Problem is I was in Delaware and he was in Colorado. But eventually the twain did meet. Obviously it was in the plan since I ended up in Texas through my first husband’s transfer and David ended up in Texas through a transfer for him. We met at church in the choir. Life is nothing if not interesting.

    3. HI Barbara,
FORTY THREE Happy Anniversaries to you! I hope your day was wonderful! I’m right behind you… coming up on 42 for us this September!
      Blessings, Jeanne

Congratulations all the way around! To Jeanne for such a beautiful creation! Felicity will be sad to see this spring ensemble go to another. To Charlotte for your first great grandbaby! Happy to hear that mother and child are getting to know one another at home. To Barbara for celebrating your 43rd wedding anniversary! We are 43 this year too; so much patience. To all the sofa sisters who were able to get Rose in the house without too much fuss!

Oh no!!! I just got an e-mail from American Girl saying the Houston store is closing on February 13. I think that makes the nearest one now in Dallas. I really can’t believe this. Are they trying to go online only?

    1. Charlotte Trayer

We lost our “Seattle” (it was actually in Lynnwood) AG store shortly after covid restrictions lifted, if memory serves. I was so spoiled–it was the only one in the whole area, and only 10 minutes from our house!!

Barbara, there are also closing the San Francisco store at the same time. The stores are too expensive to maintain, so they are closing them as the leases run out. They will still have three flagship stores.

I’ve often ordered online but it was a lot of fun to go to the store and wallow in things American Girl. I’m going to try to get there while they are having their closing sale.
