The Top Doll Outfit of 2022 goes to…

You didn’t think I’d tell you in the title, did you? In fact, I’m going to show you a few pictures Linda sent me first… otherwise, it will be “after” Christmas, and there’s time to do it today… so why not?

This is what Linda said about this picture…
“Here are the 40’s girls at a Christmas party with cookies and hot chocolate! Looks like Betsy can’t wait to pick out a cookie!”

“The modern girls got dressed up to go see The Nutcracker at Powell Hall. Emmy sure looks like she needs a sweater or jacket in this weather! Brrr!”

Thanks Linda… that was wonderful to see your girls dressed up, but I agree… Emmy CERTAINLY needed a sweater or maybe a parka! :o)
2 nights ago, the temperature was -5 and the wind chill was -25. I don’t think it has ever been that cold here that I can remember!
Tonight it’s 5 degrees and the wind chill is -10. Woohoo…heat wave! :o)

Okay, I’ve made you wait long enough!

2nd Place goes to Violette for modeling School Girl Charm… here are a few of my favorite pictures of her…

The MOST VOTED FOR DRESS OF of 2022 was “Civil War Christmas” modeled by Addy AND Rebecca! I had SO much fun making this one and putting new things with it! My first time making a decent capelet that actually fit over the shoulders perfectly and making a pair of mittens that actually held the sheet music. I truly enjoyed this set and hope the winner is enjoying it! Here are some pictures of this wonderful set!

Well, I guess it’s time to start thinking about next year… but first, maybe a few coats? I did that last year and it seemed to be a good idea! ALL the dolls could certainly use a coat right now, couldn’t they? (The furrier, the better!) :o)

Tomorrow will be Christmas and I’m hoping you all have a very Merry one… We are very blessed and I pray you are too! May the Lord keep you safe and at peace this next year!

See you Monday,
Blessings, Jeanne

Thank you for sharing your pictures, Linda. Your girls all look just darling, dressed up for Christmas festivities! But, yes, do get poor Emmy something to cover her arms…unless she’s moved to Hawaii or something!!

I’m not at all surprised by the winning outfits–they were both spectacular, and it was so exciting to watch them come together, with various pieces added!

Barbara, I added a reply to your comment about making Jaiden her new dress in yesterday’s blog post. You are fortunate to have your granddaughter living so close; ours is 2000 miles away!

It is warming up here, and the ice is starting to melt. I’m so glad, as I really NEED to go to the grocery store tomorrow, and the post office, too!! (Yes, folks, she got her cards finished before Christmas!! 🎺)

    A blessed Christmas to all!!

I just read your reply from yesterday and must confess I was a little envious. I have those labels too but have not been able to use them much. I’ve never had much encouragement to make clothes for my grandchildren (there are six total). Never could get a straight answer to that except for my daughter-in-law thinking homemade means you’re too cheap to buy something yet her gift to me each year is a lovely Thomas Kinkade puzzle she puts together, Sean does the gluing and they frame it. She is very pleased she can do this for me. It takes her a lot of time to do this but she does not equate that to how pleased I am to be able to make things for others. David always said in time maybe Jaiden will be pleased on her own.

      1. Charlotte Trayer

I’m thinking David is right about that. You’ll have to listen to Jaiden in the next few days/weeks; she may tip you off on how much fun it was to watch you make something just for you! (And once the other grands see that, you may have many requests from the other grands forthcoming! 😉)

I have no objections at all with the winning two!! Loved, loved, loved them both! It was so nice that one was for RRFF and one was for AG! This was really a very hard contest to just pick out two! Congratulations to YOU Jeanne, for making a winner everytime you make something!

I know about poor Emmy having those bare arms, but who knew this crazy weather would come when I ordered her dress? What she was wearing at Thanksgiving would have been better! (red and white sweater and skirt, plus boots)! But you know little girls, they want to wear what they want to wear! LOL Be assured she did have a coat when they arrived!

Thank you Charlotte for the compliments! So happy to hear that your ice is melting, but ours is still there. Today will be wonderful, like going to the tropics, up to the teens or so, and Christmas Day will be a balmy 20 degrees! Now if the wind would go away!

Merry Christmas to all of youfrom me and my “girls”!

    1. “I wish you beautiful and sweet holidays from France!
      Friendships, Georgina

Thank you, Georgina! So glad you are a part of the Sofa Sisters all the in France!! My, my, this sofa is bigger than I imagined!! :o)
      Merry Christmas to you,
      Blessings, Jeanne

Warmer weather is coming. It’s 34 here already (8:00 o’clock).

We had so many wonderful outfits to choose from this year — we could hardly go wrong, whatever we chose. Was this your most productive year (for doll clothes) ever? I agree with Linda that it’s nice that one winner was AG and one RRFF. Next up — a midwinter dress.

Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays to aa!

Linda’s girls look so excited at the Christmas party and ready to dive into those lovely cookies, pup included. 🙂 Such a fun idea to have the girls attending the Nutcracker. Love Emmy’s dress, and the other girls too. Thank you for showing us your wonderful scenes. 🙂
So, I was thinking about Jeanne’s coats. I would like to see a jacket for the RRFF girls that could be worn other than the heart of winter. Those accessory pieces are hard to find and definitely help round out the wardrobe. 🙂
Hard to believe that it is actually Christmas Eve. Hope everyone is keeping warm and having an enjoyable time whether with friends and family or having a peaceful day watching the snowflakes drift about. Happy Holidays everyone. 🙂

Jeanne, every ensemble is truly a winner. What a fantastic year of your creations. Always getting better, which is hard to imagine.
So fun to see Linda’s gals with their scenes. So much serious playing going on at your house, Linda. Just LOVE it!
Karen, you daughter’s diorama was so very well done, and I do hope her grade was high. Wonderful picture of her and the baby.
Alina,so nice to hear from you a couple days ago.
Dorothy of PA, I hope you are well and still doing the tea party circuit.
Anne and Ingrid….sending out hugs that you and older parents are doing well. Missing you and Dorothy.
Merry Christmas to all, What a swell group on this sofa! 🎄🥰’

Thank you Sally! Serious playing, now that might be what it really is! I think I must be really about 8! (In my dreams)

Good morning and a very happy and blessed Christmas to you all. It is 6.30am Christmas morning here. I promise I didn’t get up early to see what Santa brought lol.
It is 16 degrees here, expecting 20. That’s celcius not farenheit lol. I have been watching the news and seeing the storm sweeping your country and of course reading what you all have said about how cold it is. We haven’t had snow here for about 8 years. It can get cold but not really that cold! Brr. Certainly not at Christmas lol. For a good laugh and an indication of how Kiwi’s celebrate Christmas check out YouTube ‘How to Dad Kiwi Christmas’, it is very funny and whilst ‘slightly’ exaggerated is pretty spot on lol. Particularly for Kiwi’s born here as opposed to those of us who remember Christmas in the mid winter.
We are off to my second son’s for breakfast this morning, then back here for lunch. We’ll just have the youngest son here. He doesn’t have a partner so no other family to visit (he’ll be with us for breakfast as well).
Although I have been MIA I have been reading the blog and all your comments. I have loved seeing all the photos of the ‘girls’ dressed up for Christmas I wish we had the space to do something like that but we really don’t, not now there are 5 people living here! Karen it was lovely to see your photos of Marion’s Diorama and of course the one of her with her baby sister.
I didn’t vote for my favourite outfits but if I had I might well have chosen the two that won. Jeanne, all your creations are wonderful you are so clever. Looking forward to seeing what you produce next year.
Meri Kirihimete everyone Have a great day.

    1. Linda in St. Louis

Thank you, Anne! I was wondering how you have been, since we haven’t heard from you lately. Just busy, like the rest of us, I guess! Glad you were able to comment today!

  6. Merry Christmas, everyone!! With German heritage, Christmas Eve is/was always Christmas at our house. presents were opened after Christmas Eve service. Christmas Day after church was dinner and relatives visiting. No services this year as we have eight inches of snow here and won’t be plowed out for a couple of days since we live on the edge of town right before country and church is in the next town in the country, too.
Lovely pictures as always, Linda. What a sweet party your girls are having and seeing The Nutcracker will be fun. I saw that ballet years ago.
We have warmed up to 4 degrees, but it feels like -16. The coldest temperature Ohio has ever had was in 1977 Cincinnati had -25. My grandparents lived there. We were in Columbus and slightly warmer, but still in the negative 20’s. We also survived the Blizzard of 1978.

    1. Linda in St. Louis

Thank you, Laura! I remember seeing the Nutcracker ballet too, with my two children, who fell asleep while watching! They must have been 3 and 4 at the time.
So sorry you had to skip your Christmas Eve services, due to the snow. At least you are having a white Christmas! Things are looking up and it will get warmer soon. We can’t possibly get colder!

  7. Barbara in SE Texas

I was more than pleased with the final choices. I always loved the outfit on Violette but you said we could only pick two.

Well we’re having a heat wave here today. We made it to 38 at lunchtime. It is a beautiful day today with the sky so blue and not a cloud in sight. We never got the precipitation we were told to expect. No complaints there because usually that means ice around here.

David and I will be leaving soon for choir duty. We have to be at church by 3 p.m. So I gotta go. Merry Christmas to all my sofa sisters.

  8. Charlotte Trayer

Chiming in again, with the news that it has warmed up big time here–49 last I checked! Most ice is gone from the roads, and I was able to get to the PO and grocery store–yay!! Best of all, our grandson Isaac (our son’s oldest) stopped by and kept grandpa company while I shopped, and then helped me with some toting. It’s been a good day, but I may have overdone a tad, as my shoulder is a little bit achier than usual.

Merry and blessed Christmas to all the sofa sisters!

  9. Linda….you did it again. I want to be at the Tea Party! Those tiny cookies are amazing. The dresses are sweet and I love the sleeveless white one. Guess it needs a sweater😉 Thank you for sharing them again.
Good choices for the dress winners. I did love School Girl Charm and your Rebecca can take a bow for her ideas…and your sewing talent make a great combo. The Christmas dress was indeed beautiful! There is one proud doll owner that owns that one😉
Our families just left..we gather on Christmas Eve for a formal dinner and partial gift opening….then everyone does their own thing on Christmas Day and we get together again ..usually on the 26th just the 20 of us to have a more informal meal and presents. I love a pretty package so probably spend way too much time on wrapping but what is funny is that Everyone always loves the last present of the day which is something from either an Estate Sale or Garage Sale…wrapped in a grocery bag or shipping box. My daughter wanted an electric knife and suggested each family needed one so we did find 4…over the summer. That and games make for a fun day. Hope you all had time with your families….and dolls🤗
