No sewing today, but LOTS of painting!

I’m sorry, but I wasn’t able to make it into my sewing room today, so there was nothing new done on Samantha’s dress… but I’ll get back to it as soon as I can.

I think “I” am finished at the International House, at least until after Rebecca and Karn leave… They’re staying a whole week and I can’t wait! :o) :o)

We worked long and hard today, but you’ll be surprised to see the area we were working on… how did it take us all day to do this? Well, it was dirty and had to be scrubbed, then it had lots of painting with a brush because of the windows… but I won’t talk about the icky side of the kitchen… just a few pictures… and then we’ll move on to how pretty it is now!

Here are the windows that were in pretty bad shape. They have screens on the inside and my hubby used turn buttons to make them removeable if wanted… I know it looks like there are areas where he needed to caulk, but that is where the screens fit in so there is a slight gap.

This was the door area that was most of need of some TLC!

Here is the new version of the kitchen wall… We only did one wall… the window wall, and the other walls will just be wiped down…

We used the same paint as we did in the hallway and the bedrooms because we had 1/2 gallon left.

We did the inside section of the window and ledges in Anthem White… a semi-gloss…

The windows just pop now and with the blinds put back up, it looks really nice in there…

…and here’s the door section I showed you earlier… Much better!

While I was cutting my paint in around the top of the wall, my hubby used Old English on the vanity and caulked the bottom edge of the tub.

Then “HE” let me be “Caulk Queen” for a few minutes. His fingers are too big to do a dainty little caulk edge like the top of this peel and stick tile. We used a paintable caulk and he cut an extra small hole in his tube of caulk… he laid the caulk down with his caulk gun and let me use “MY” finger to smooth it out… I did it, and he bragged on me! :o) When the caulk dried, I painted it very carefully with a tiny paintbrush along the top edge, using the same Assessible Beige paint.

It’s almost ready to move into… Our Pastor stopped in to see how things were coming along and he liked the bathroom so much, he said, HE just might move in there! :o)

Well, sorry I didn’t get any sewing done, but things happen, don’t they?

Don’t forget, Friday’s are always the days Pixie Faire has their pattern specials… most of the time they have a free one!

See you tomorrow,
Blessings, Jeanne

Wow, what a difference a coat of paint can make! Whoever next moves in there will be so thrilled with how nice things are–especially if you show them some of those “before” pictures!

Barbara, congrats on your new serger! I did comment on your post yesterday.

We had quite a busy day today. Ron sees his neurologist every 6 months, and today he did some MoCA testing (cognitive); while Ron didn’t quite “soar”, he didn’t do too badly in most areas. I also talked to him about Ron’s driving; he thinks that as long as he isn’t having any major problems with driving, and is able to find his way around well, he should be okay to drive for a while yet. I’m sure Ron was relieved, as was I. It’s not that he does much driving any more, but still, it’s really hard for a man to have to “lose” that privilege, I think. (Ron has what are called right temporal lobe partial seizures, which can cause occasional vagueness and forgetfulness; he is taking medication for them, which has helped quite a bit. He is 89 now, 13 years older than I.)

In addition, Ron got his haircut, we ran a couple of other errands, and met our friends at IHOP for dinner and trivia! It’s the longest he’s been out and about in quite a while!

Oh Jeanne, don’t worry about not getting to your sewing, while you have the painting job to do and finish! You are haivng a birthday soon, and Rebecca and karn are coming for a week, you are way too busy to deal with a doll dress at the moment, and you can be sure we all understand!

That is quite an accomlishment that you got all that painting done, and it looks so nice! The girls will be so appreciative!

Nice to hear that Ron is doing as well as he is, Charlotte! We have been out and about, just maybe a few pictures of that adventure might be coming to you soon, Jeanne!

What a wonderful job you and George have done on the student housing. I’m sure the girls will appreciate moving into something clean, functional, and modernized as well. Thinking back to my college days, this place would have been a dream compared to the two story Victorian we lived in for 8 months. No fire alarms back then and only one set of interior stairs for an escape route. Fortunately, our room had a window that opened out onto the roof. It also came complete with pack rats. But, that’s another story. 🙂
Cupcake, (Linda Macario) arrived yesterday mixed in with another little package from Macy’s, of which I was able to tell other person they had split the order into two packages. A new ruse of which I hope to be able to use again soon. 🙂 Good thing he wasn’t able to read the label as the package sat under the large logo Macy’s labeled box. 🙂
Have a great weekend everyone. 🙂

I always enjoy the remodeling pictures. I’m sure the women that will be living there won’t realize the full extent of what has been done to that building, but they will be grateful to move into a place that is so inviting and fresh. What transformations you have made. Really labors of love, Jeanne, of the skinny fingers! 😉
Charlotte, you and Ron had quite a day. I am sure you were both tired, but he got to do some old “regular” things that always lift us up. Hurrah!
Barbara, what great news that your serger will be in your sewing room before long, and also, that you got some wonderful deals in accessories.
Jeanne, I really like that dress on Samantha, and I like that pearl necklace. Like someone else commented, I also never liked that neckline where the hard head meets the cloth body.
I have a question. I get the Pixie Fair emails and today they had a dark AG doll at the bottom talking about Claudie, but this doll had a black, smooth short wig sort of like Kit’s. On the AG site, she has huge, longish curls. I was surprised. Anyone know anything about this wig situation? (Not that I am ever buying another AG.)
Thanks! Happy weekend. Labor Day will soon be here. Yikes.

Sally, Claudie, the new American Girl doll has long curls, much like
Cecile, which is one reason I am not getting her. I already have Cecile.

Thanks, Linda. I wonder why Cinnamon had that picture of a dark doll with the dark Kit type wig on her Freebie Friday post this morning. I was wondering if AG was giving customers a choice. Ha! Colorado high here! 😆
I have Cecile, too, and she is in one of my most smashing CW costumes. I’m keeping her. I think she is quite lovely, and would certainly prefer her over this Claudie. Thanks for your note and have a super, super day in St. Louis!

Charlotte…I think your description of driving could be duplicated on my hubby, Dreading the day he can’t drive anymore because he needs to go somewhere every day and I’m ok with staying home🥴
Joy.. your latest delivery makes so much sense… an order split in two! You clever doll lover !
Jeanne. The kitchen looks sooo good… clean and spiffy and who knew you could be a caulking queen!🤗
    Have a fun weekend everyone

Dear Jeanne, I love the before and after photos. You and your husband are amazing.

How wonderful that the newlyweds will be with you for a week. Reuben will be over the moon!

The Virtual Doll Convention officially began today, although there were pre-convention events on Wednesday and Thursday. I have a tea tomorrow. This week is all about dolls and tea. I am already in my little bubble of bliss (sigh).
