How about some dolly camo…

I have been searching for some miniature sized camouflage fabric and was just about to give up. I wanted some in a small scale to possibly use for my dolls. I happened upon this “sort of medium” sized piece and thought it might work…

I’ve been wanting to make another one of my rompers for the Ruby Red Fashion Friends and decided to give this camo fabric a try…

I didn’t realize it when I bought it, but it has a little bit of stretch to it, not that it matters to my dolls, but I’ll let you know what my girls think…

So this is what I have gotten done so far…

It will look better when I get the snaps sewn on to hold it up…

Stay tuned to see what it turns into tomorrow!!!

See you then!
Blessings, Jeanne

That is really a nice scale of camo print, Jeanne. I think it’s going to work well, and if you decide to do Siblies’ clothes, it will work for the boys as well as the girls!

I just checked your auction–you now have EIGHT bids on “Summer Fun”!! Woohoo!!

So cute and “now”, Jeanne! I bet this would work on the Wellies too. This pattern could work for a lot of different fabrics, denim, floral, etc. I do like the camp look though and it looks great with red hair, or blonde…..oor brown or black! Every color!

I bet this will have a cute tee to go with it. Maybe a cute cameo bucket hat too? Another fun outfit for the Rubies!

I should probably not comment today, but the minute I saw camouflage on a doll, I cringed. No matter how “current” it might be, what it is used for isn’t for my girls. Undoubtedly many will be thrilled which is dandy. But that’s all I have to say about this outfit. 😢 We’re all different which is good.
Charlotte, hope the plumbing is done and awesome.
Have a good day, dear Jeanne and sisters. 🥰

Sally, camo really isn’t my thing either, but my son certainly loved it and wore it a lot when he was little! And our granddaughter liked the pink camo when she was about 4 or 5, I think.

Nope, plumbing’s not fixed. We’re looking at re-piping the whole house, as both water and sewer lines are over 50 years old and wearing out. Better to do it now, than wait until something starts leaking in the basement, I guess!!

  4. I can see the camo on the RRFF and the Silbies. It works for the more modern dolls and is a favorite for lots of folks. I’m sure you have a plan for the accessories to make it fun.
You certainly are flexible😉 going from the mid 1800’s to todays girls.

16,791 acres burned this morning in the Oak Fire by Yosemite. Our air is still good at the moment, but others around Lake Tahoe are getting the smoke and have very unhealthy air. I believe that the weather is supposed to change and it will be heading our way soon. The only good thing is that the fire is 10% contained. Better than out of control.
I think I would like to have seen the romper in a pretty floral print unless someone is planning on being a chameleon in the garden. Not into hunting around here.
It will be interesting to see the outcome of the current auction with that lovely dress. Lots of bidders. 🙂

Stay safe, Joy, and maybe spend some time in the dolly room for some R & R. I plan to watch something enjoyable later surrounded by kitties.. a mood booster for sure.
I was glad to hear there is a small dent in the control of the fire.

Love it, Jeanne! Really appreciate that you can produce such a wonderful Historical outfit and then jump right back into 2022 and make an outfit that’s trendy and fun. It’s truly delightful to see a camo creation that’s absolutely feminine. Kudos and please keep surprising us! :~)

Dear Jeanne, I wanted to let you and the Sofa Sisters know that Ed at Happily Ever After is having a Christmas in July sale today.

Also, safe travels to anyone going to the UFDC convention in St. Louis next week. I hope, if someone goes, she will share a story about her adventures.

    1. Barbara in SE Texas

I got an e-mail about Ed’s sale and I’m going to check it out as soon as I’m finished here.

Dear Barbara, I hope you find something (or someone, I should say) that you like! Let us know if you do.

This will be a hit with some of the Ruby Red collectors. The fabric and style look great on Stella. Good luck with “Summer Fun”. I can’t wait to see the fireworks at the finish!

Joy, that fire is very disturbing. Praying for a higher percentage of containment today. Stay safe.

  9. I have to agree with Sally, Jeanne. Camo isn’t my thing either. Of course, soldiers have to wear it to be as safe as possible, but on civilians it makes me think of war/killing/violence and that makes me sad. I have three people I now know that the war in Ukraine is affecting. Two are from Etsy purchases and one is from another blog I’ve followed since back in homeschool days. Two ladies live on the border of Romania and one lives in Ukraine. Sorry for the soapbox rant. Definitely agree with Joy about the completely against hunting.
Naturally, we all have our own tastes in dolls and what to have them wear so someone is going to be very pleased with this. I do agree that you are a very versatile seamstress though.

Glad I am not the lone voice in the wilderness, Laura. You and Joy lifted my spirits because I generally don’t like writing negative sentiments. ❤️😉

Really cute romper. I love the pattern whatever you make it out of. Can’t believe you found such a small camouflage print. I love the pink and blue camouflage fabric but It’s doubtful you can find that in a small print. Can’t wait to see the shirt.

I will be getting a new refrigerator today. I’ve been wanting a French Door refrigerator since Dionne got hers several years ago, and I found exactly what I want at the right price, so I’m going for it. My current fridge is close to 25 years old now and I never really liked it. I wanted a side-by-side until I got one and I found out I didn’t like it much. But a fridge is not something you buy on a regular basis, so I endured. We designed the new laundry room to include both room for a second fridge and a small chest freezer. We are downsizing from a large chest freezer and will put the fridge in the kitchen now out there until it gives up the ghost. David is going to take the small fridge in the garage down to his shop. My serger has now risen to the top of my shopping list.

    1. Sally from Colorado

Barbara, congrats on the new refrigerator YOU wanted, and that’s great news the serger has now risen to the top! 🙌

    2. Joy in northern CA

Very curious as to what refrigerator brand was chosen? We have a French door and love it, however, the icemaker hasn’t worked in a number of years and we do need to get a new one. Replacing the ice maker isn’t worth it because of the age. Anyway, we’ve looked in the past and gave up because of so many negative reviews including those from repair people. I’m sure yours will be just fine though as it has been awhile since we last looked. Congrats on your refrigerator. 🙂 Oh, and hope you find a great serger. 🙂

I bid on Summer Fun and was immediately outbid. I’m not going to win this one but I did want to bid as a tribute vote.

And now to the new one. I’m in the “on trend,” cute, “chameleon in the garden” group on this one. No one would mistake this cute design for a weekend warrior — it’s clearly a weekend gardener/farmers’ market special, and very cute on this tiny doll. I’m wondering about a cream knit shirt with a ruffle on the sleeves or a bit of lace at the neckline. Or boots with lacy knee-socks. Linda’s bucket hat is a great idea — maybe with a daisy on it to continue the garden theme. Or embroider a daisy on each sock. Just as you did for summer fun, you’ll figure out exactly what this outfit needs. You may have a coordinating fabric for the blouse already. Already I’m looking forward to seeing tomorrow’s additions.
