Thursday’s Tidbits!!

We are back home now and trying to figure things out…simple things like who is going to take Reuben out at night and who gets morning duty? Me or Rebecca? My hubby is most comfortable in the living room recliner but I’m back down the hall in the bedroom…so how does he get ahold of me if he needs something? We decided he should call me…hopefully I won’t be so comfy in my own bed that I don’t hear my phone ringing!! Eek!!

We’ll get things figured out and all should be good… he does have pain in his knee since everything they gave him has worn off, but I’m hoping he’ll be good in 2 weeks… (I might be dreaming…) he is on some strong pain pills but wants to get off them ASAP!

I was looking on my phone to see if I had a picture of something I could share. I stayed in a hotel just down the road from the hospital my hubby was in…and look who cleaned my room…
Vincent Price!! :o)

Okay…now about ALL those wonderful recipes you shared!! Thank you very much!! I hope everyone tries at least one new recipe…maybe more!!

Welcome to Sasha…thank you for chiming in…I hope you will again!!

If you missed yesterday’s post, about favorite easy recipes, I hope you’ll go back and check it out.

We got home at 5:00 (Wed) evening and it’s been non-stop busyness…trying to get things sorted out and organized… and I did find about 20 minutes in the bedroom to visit with Rebecca!! It was nice…

I don’t have anything new to share with you just yet, but if you missed sharing an easy and summery recipe yesterday, please feel free to share it today… if you want to share about your latest doll, go right ahead, if you have a fun dolly story, we’d love to hear it…

I’m calling today’s post Thursday’s Tidbits!! Help me make it a success and before you know it, I’ll be back in my sewing room!

Thanks everyone!
See you tomorrow!
Blessings, Jeanne

I’m so glad to hear you and George are home now, and settling in. Maybe you could turn your phone’s ringtone up in volume while you’re sleeping, so you’d be sure to hear it? Or choose one that is a louder sound, rings for a longer time before going to voice mail, or possibly a lower and more easily heard ring tone? Even my little cell phone, which is pretty basic, has quite a variety to choose from, as well as volume settings. It also helps if you put it on a hard surface (which helps make it sound louder) rather than, say, on the bed beside you.

So Vincent Price cleaned your room, huh?! That’s a pretty neat trick since he’s been dead for quite a while! I wonder if he came dressed as one of the characters he played?! (Some of you younger gals are probably wondering what on earth I’m talking about!! Here: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Vincent_Price )

I have gone and read thru the posts from yesterday. I saw at least one recipe that I know I’m going to want to copy and try, possibly more!

No dolly news here, but I did finish making the summer nightie I cut out quite some time ago, and recently started. It’s from an older Primrose Lane pattern (“Victorian Dream”), and, since I made it out of a print fabric, I didn’t do the smocking or embroidery the pattern suggested (the fabric was too thin to pleat/smock well, anyway–I tested it), and I didn’t add any lace. I will try to get a picture or two in the near future, if anyone is interested.

Now if we could only get some warm weather, so I could wear it! Our HIGH temperature was 62 today! Tomorrow (Thurs.–remember, I’m still on Wed. night! LOL) it’s supposed to get close to 70, but then Friday, it’s down to 59 again…for our HIGH!!! Bring on the flannel jammies!!

    1. Debbie in North Carolina

I wish I could shave off 15 degrees to share with you. The nightie sounds perfect for summer nights.

    2. Thank you Charlotte!
I’m glad you found some sewing time…I’ll be glad when I can…
      Blessings, Jeanne

  2. Linda in St. Louis

So glad you both are now home, Jeanne, and hoping things go well. Now in additon to being a dressmaker, cobbler, ha tmaker, and cook, you are playing nursemaid! It’s nice that Rebecca and Karn are there for “backup” help!

Jeanne, I’m not sure where you were staying, but if in St. Louis, why be surprised to have Vincent Price cleaning your room? He is from here, as a matter of fact!! 🙂

I did enjoy reading through all the wonderful recipes and chit chat among us the past few days. As far as what I have been doing, is staying in! It is horribly hot here, and the less you do outside, the better, so I have been getting things ready for my dolls camping scene. I bought the new Molly camp accessories, just put out by AG, since I didn’t have the Capture the Flag set, but now I have it all, and will be trying to get it all togetehr in one scene. Although my available space size stayed the same, I have added quite a bit to the scene, so this is going to be a struggle to get it all together! I’ll be adding Betsy to the scene too, since she doesn’t want to be left out!

Oh, Charlotte, PLEASE come and take away this HOT weather, so your dolls can wear their summer pj”s! You are more than welcome to it all! Instead of sleeping in flannel jammies, my dolls are thinking more and more of sleeping nude!! 🙂 We “only” went up to the high 90’s yesterday, but the feel like temps were more like 106! Today going up to 98, but with the humidity here, it won’t feel good, I can tell you that!!

    1. Debbie in North Carolina

Please share your pictures of the girls in their camping outfits. I think I am going to order the new Molly because I sold my Pleasant Company Molly before we moved last fall – one less AG box to move.

    2. Hi Linda,
It IS good to be home, but things are hopping around here…Rebecca and Karn are leaving in the morning, so I’ll he totally in charge of letting the chickens out in the mornings and closing them up at night, walking Reuben, driving my hubby to therapy and then taking care of all he needs…
All I can say is this too shall pass…
      Thanks Linda,
      Blessings, Jeanne

    3. Hello Linda,
Your camping ⛺️ scene sounds wonderful! I am hoping to be getting Molly’s Camp and School Accessories as well as her birthday accessories(I am very interested in her birthday 🎂 cake) and Camp Gowonagin outfit! I have a space in our basement for all my dolls and it got sort of messy in the winter so I have been cleaning it up and am almost done, then I can put the rest of my dolls in their summer clothes! I had a short time on Instagram where I would create scenes and take pics of my dolls and put them up there but I deleted it. I really didn’t like being on there! I still do take pics of my dolls though! Can’t wait to see your camping scene! Also, I know what yo mean about the heat. I wish it was flannel jammy time…I LOVE WINTER AND ❄️ SNOW ⛄️ but in Illinois we have had a heat advisory ALL week…some days going into the 100’s! My dad likes the heat but I have to be careful because I can get really bad migraines in the heat. Plus, our dog has to be careful since she is a black Labrador. Her name is Presley( Yes guys that is how much my family ❤️ loves Elvis!) Our first dog I wanted to name Elvis but it was a girl so I said let’s name her Priscilla! That was at age 2! Thanks to my Mummy I knew the Presley family tree before I knew much more of anything at 2!

Jeanne so glad you and your husband George are back home. Nothing beats home after being operated on and staying in a hospital! I had a neck disectomy and fusion at the age of 29 just a few years ago I have a plate, 4 screws, and a cage in my neck! Then after I had to wear and sleep in this hard collar! Well, glad your done! Happy weekend Everyone!

      1. Oh forgot about Vincent Price cleaning your room! Every time you got back to your room where you in for a “Thriller”?

  3. So glad to hear you and George are settled back home. I hope he can tolerate the pain in between weening off of it eventually. For me, once I started taking my pain medicine every other day and walking around, eventually I went off of it and an over the counter pain reducer helped. God speed George!
It’s nice to hear you got a nice visit in with Rebecca.

Doll news: Finally after unpacking from being snow birds, I got down to my doll room. Dusted and unpacked several new boxes of dolly items including 4 new RRFF dolls. Looking through my doll closet, I need to stop collecting and enjoy the dolls, doll furniture and doll clothes (except Jeanne’s doll clothes) that I have. I also think the RRFF girls look better and more natural in some of the AMC furniture.

It’s too hot for-me as I’m sure it is for most of you. Please keep your pets inside and cool with plenty of water. I stay indoors especially with this humidity and go to my air conditioned car to an air conditioned store or I don’t go out at all.
I need to look over those recipes from yesterday.
    Stay cool!!

    1. Debbie in North Carolina

Paula, we have moved twice in the past 11 years. I can’t believe you do this 2 times a year! Do you move your dolls too? Enjoy your new RRFF.

      1. Hi Debbie, we drive to our winter home but there’s no way I can bring my dolls and many other things so there’s a lot of mailing. It gets old. We drive to and from snd it’s exhausting. This year we’re leaving a car out there and flying home! 😳 😊

    2. Hi Paula,
He thinks the pain this time is worse, but I told him he’s never had pins stuck in his bones holding his leg straight. I hope in a weeks time, he’ll see and feel a big difference.
Congratulations on your 4 new RRFF dolls! I hope you’ve had a little time to get acquainted with them.
      Thanks Paula,
      Blessings, Jeanne

  4. With Larry we used a bike horn that he squeezed when he needed help. You’d be surprised how loud those things are. Praying for a quick recovery. Give hugs to all from me.

    1. Linda in St. Louis

Gloria, I’m keeping you in mind to meet up at the Botanical Garden, but not in this heat! It will be awhile before we go again, so just wanted to keep you in the loop and to let you know I haven’t forgotten about you. This heat is no fun!

    2. Hi Gloria,
Thanks for the advice of the horn …although I think I might pass for now…I’m afraid he might use it ALL the time!! :o)
      Thanks so much,
      Love you, Jeanne

  5. Joy in northern CA

Loved seeing that Vincent Price cleaned your room. 🙂 And then from Linda, that he was actually from St. Louis. 🙂
Glad George is home, and I’m sure he is as well. How’s that ice machine working? Hope it is keeping down the swelling. Will the physical therapist be swinging by everyday? And maybe a nurse to check in too? Hope so. Maybe Reuben needs a long tether so that he can go out in the evening by himself? Just a thought. I’m sure he is very glad to have Rebecca and Karn visiting. Will they be heading home soon?
Sorry Charlotte about your cool weather as down here in northern CA, it has been pretty nice. After that extreme heat, a few days of low 90’s is tolerable. Today, I think it is supposed to be 80. Very nice. 🙂 I do feel sorry for the high heat and humidity in other areas. Ugh.
Received an email today from RubyRed that Venus has been shipped. Can’t wait to meet her. Figure some time next week she will show up. I’ll have to check the tracking as last time, my order traveled a very strange route. 🙂 I believe that the box will be a larger one as it will include a summer daybed. That’s all I need to try and smuggle inside. 🙁 I’ll be on high alert. 🙂

    1. Debbie in North Carolina

Joy, good luck getting Venus in the house! If you can wrangle a doll house you can manage her; keep us posted.

    2. Yeah, it’s not everyone who gets their room cleaned by Vincent Price! :o)
The ice machine us working great!! He has been using it regularly!!
The physical therapy doesn’t take place at home…I have to TAKE him there! His first session is 8:00 in the morning…We are getting up at 5:00 in the morning to see Rebecca and Karn off…
It will probably take 2 hours to help George get dressed and get over to PT… I’m already thinking if a nap.
      Congrats on Venus!
      Blessings, Jeanne

    3. I heard of and seen the Ruby Red Fashion Friends. Are they 16 inch dolls? I would love 💕 to see your summer day bed! 🛏

  6. Ingrid B in Western N Y

    Hi Jeanne,
Awesome news! I’m sure everyone is happy you all are home including Reuben! Each passing day is one day closer to complete healing. After my two back surgeries my reclining lift chair was my best friend! Wish I could send George one. I’m sure George is an expert on the “how tos” after so many knee surgeries. Continued prayers.

Karen, I just wanted to say hubby and I were encouraged to move our son into an advanced class, he was the smallest and youngest. I worried but in the end he did well and made twice as many friends. Kids are resilient

Charlotte, Thanks for reminding me about the cottage cheese jello salad. I make it with diet Raspberry jello. I’ve never added fruit but wouldn’t it be yummy with raspberries added!

I had to look up my favorite salad recipe… it is so yummy and super easy to throw together.

    Sweet and Nutty Broccoli Salad

    Salad ingredients:
2 bunches broccoli (tips only) some people blanch the broccoli, I like it raw
    1 red onion, chopped
    1cup Sunflower seeds
1/4 lb Bacon, cooked and crumbled

    Salad dressings
    1 & 1/2cup Mayonnaise
    2TB wine vinegar
    1TB Dijon Mustard
    3TB Honey
    1/2cup Raisins
    Instructions
To make dressing, combine mayonnaise, vinegar, mustard and honey.
Add raisins and let stand for at least 30 minutes refrigerated.
(The flavors blend even better if allowed to stand refrigerated overnight.)
Just before serving, combine salad ingredients and toss with dressing, coating salad well. (there will be lots of dressing you can use as much or as little as you like)
    serves 8

Hope all the sisters are well
    Hugs
    Ingrid

    1. Linda in St. Louis

Ingrid, this reminds me of a salad I make with broccoli, called Broccoli Grape Salad, with red grapes in it. Also very good!

    2. Hi Ingrid,
Yes, every day that goes by is one day closer to being completely well.
Your Broccoli salad looks similar to one I make…I will be trying your version!
Reuben was thrilled to have Rebecca home again…he’s gonna her she leaves…
      Thanks so much,
      Blessings, Jeanne

    3. Charlotte Trayer

Ingrid I do a similar salad to what you do, only my dressing is a little different–mayo with a little cider vinegar and a little sugar. And sometimes I make it with grapes rather than raisins, and sometimes I add drained canned chicken, which then makes it a main dish! I hadn’t thought about sunflower seeds; that would be good. I’ve had it with chopped walnuts, though!

And yes, that jello/cottage cheese salad would be good with fresh raspberries! I’ve also done it using raspberry jello and drained canned peaches, cut up some (you can use fresh peaches, if you have them). That’s a really good combo, too!

  7. Dorothy in PA and the World

Dear Jeanne, I am so happy that the surgery went well and that you and your husband are home. Prayers continue.

Here is my contribution to the Tipbit Topic.

I have been imagining what my perfect doll room would look like. I see a square room with curio cabinets, for doll storage, against one wall and floor to ceiling shelves, for box storage of clothing and accessories on two walls. On the final wall would be a three shelf bookcase for doll related books. On top of the bookcase, at waist level, would be a long shelf that could be used for posing dolls for photographs. Ahh, it is wonderful to dream.

    1. Debbie in North Carolina

Dorothy, and a cabinetmaker who does custom work to build your design! I would love all of those. Instead have the tall dolls on the lonely shelf in the doll room/tiny bedroom. the 15 inch dolls and the Madame Alexanders in the hall closet, and the doll books and magazines in the laundry room cabinet! Because I lost my spacious doll room in the move I purchased a beautiful tall curio cabinet with adjustable shelves so I can have a least one nice display. Yes, it is wonderful to dream. One day I will get rid of the full size bed and just surround myself with my dolls.

      1. Dorothy in PA and the World

Dear Debbie, oh yes, I forgot the cabinetmaker. I don’t want to forget about her.

I do have a dedicated doll room but it has become the junk room and the dolls are not happy about that (laugh).

My dolls are scattered throughout my house also. I have dolls in the china closet in the kitchen. I don’t know how they took over that space. And I have boxes of my little Alexander dolls on and in the dresser in the spare bathroom. I looked up one day and the boxes “poof” appeared.

Let’s just keep dreaming. I like your idea about surrounding yourself with dolls. I can envision that too.

    2. Hi Dorothy,
      I appreciate your continued prayers…
I love your dream doll room and hope your dream comes true some sweet day!!
Everyone should have their DREAM ROOM for their dolls!
      Blessings, Jeanne

  8. Debbie in North Carolina

I know it must be wonderful to be home and sleeping in your own bed. Too bad Vincent Price can’t come along to clean up. I am pretty sure you will hear that phone if George needs you. Many years ago my daughter called me at 4:00 am from her bedroom to let me know she wasn’t going to have that tooth pulled after all. Enjoy those visits with Rebecca. I hope they will stay for Father’s Day.

Hi Sasha, welcome to Jeanne’s blog. Another recovering educator here-middle and high school history, 23 years. I love your rationale for loving and collecting dolls, especially the part about the ball gowns! Like Sally I am an admirer, not a creator of handsewn outfits for dolls. Glad to meet you.

Hi Sally, that recipe is from Cooking Light, July 2004 (can’t believe I moved those 18 year old magazines). The recipe did call for pineapple, I left it out so hubby wouldn’t think I skipped dinner and went straight to dessert, ha ha. The recipe also called for currants instead of raisins. I enjoyed every other bite of that sundae : ) Magalie is painting my LD, I hope. It has been such a long wait. When I ordered last July it was a 6-8 month wait.. When I checked her website in March it said 12 months, so I reached out. She said I was on the schedule for June. Fingers crossed! I have ordered on outfit from Belarus because shoes were included. I am easy to please. LOL

    1. Dorothy in PA and the World

Dear Debbie, how wonderful that you will soon have a Little Darling. Is this your first? Magalie is a wonderful artist. We have a Little Darling club online (not on Facebook). Let me know if you are interested.

      1. Debbie in North Carolina

Dorothy, LOL our comments crossed paths in cyber space. This will be my first custom Little Darling. I did buy Peggy Sue from UFDC to keep from being impatient. Magalie is worth the wait. I want to order another but they are all so beautiful and I have a hard time deciding on just one. I am interested in your online club because I am not on Facebook so that excludes me from those clubs.

        1. Dorothy in PA and the World

Dear Debbie, I do know the Peggy Sue doll. I don’t have her though.

I have 4 Little Darlings. Three were painted by Geri Uribe and one was painted by Joyce Mathews.

Our Little Darlings club was started by Dianna Effner herself. It’s on the ning platform. You don’t need to have any special software or download anything. We used to be on Yahoo when it was club friendly.

          Here is the link: https://ourlittledarlings.ning.com/

Some of our members have one or two dolls and others have dolls in the double digits. We post photos of our dolls and tell stories about them. Right now we are talking about our dolls commemorating World Doll Day, which we are celebrating all month.

          1. Hello Dorothy,
I was just wondering if you knew of any kind of American Girl doll Club that was not on Facebook either. Please let me know! Thanks, Lauren

    2. Hi Debbie,
Yes, I sure could use Vincent’s help…with lots of things…too bad he just does hotel cleaning!
We had Father’s Day today with them… it was sweet!
Congrats on your new Little Darling coming hopefully soon!!!
      Blessings, Jeanne

  9. I enjoyed reading the “what to do in your state” that everyone contributed. Thank you for the wonderful tour of NZ, Anne. Everything looks breathtakingly gorgeous when I’ve seen it in movies (Narnia).
Welcome to you, Sasha, it’s a pleasure to “meet” you.
Fun to see all the recipes yesterday also. Unfortunately, my day was too busy.

Too bad you don’t have a baby monitor, Jeanne, that would make hearing George very easy.

It’s boiling hot here. I was out just long enough this morning to feed and water porch kitties, feed the birds and put water in the birdbath and in the on the ground bowl under the tree for the squirrels and chipmunks.

    1. Anne Coldron in Christchurch NZ

      Hi Laura
In spite of Kiwis thinking this is the most beautiful country in the world (they call it godzone) there are beautiful places everywhere. I think what makes NZ unique is that the scenery is so very diverse in a relatively small area. and in normal times (pre covid) tourists outnumber residents sometimes lol.

    2. Hi Laura,
Yes, a baby monitor would be wonderful…I hadn’t thought of that. I know it will just be a few days like this…and then things will get better…
It’s very hot here too…I went upstairs today and it was one of the hottest times it’s ever been up there. Kristoffer used to sleep up there…and I don’t know how he did it!!
      Thanks Laura
      Blessings, Jeanne

  10. Sally from Colorado

    Tidbits it is!

SO glad Rebecca and Karn are with you, and I know each day is going to be a little bit easier than the day before. Perseverance and patience and keeping the pain meds on schedule for a bit.

DEBBIE, it will be so fun getting your little Magalie treasure. Can’t wait to see her. I like the way you and Dorothy think about doll rooms. Sigh. I have so many wonderful dolls that moved out from NH that are still boxed up. I guess, in another 2-3 years, they will go back to NH when we move to our final address. My hubby will have a cow, but I think I will be able to unload to sellers more readily in New England than here in Colorado.

Meanwhile, on the dolly front, like Joy, I have Venus showing up this next week, a Russian Ruby Red girl, Anna, has been traveling over 3 weeks, so she should be here before long, and the French RRFF Louise was supposed to be June. The Rory I bought from Ed’s sale on World Doll Day is coming next week, and two custom RR girls from Jana Blazkova and Alex Berg arrive some time next month. Petunia in August. They just keep on a’coming!! How weird is that??

Now, one of my favorite cold main course pie recipes. My suggestion of hot dogs and canned beans probably underwhelmed most of you gals. I don’t understand that….😉

From my mom, Emma Stannard. “Chicken Party Pie”

1 (9”) pie shell baked and cooled (good old Pillsbury crusts to the rescue!)
1/3 cup shredded sharp cheddar cheese
1 1/2 cup diced cooked chicken
9 Oz can drained pineapple tidbits
    1/3 cup sliced black olives
    3/4 cup toasted slivered almonds
    1/2 cup thinly sliced celery

1 cup sour cream (or plain Greek yogurt)
    2/3 cup mayonnaise

    3 Tablespoons shredded cheddar
Chopped black olives or whole ones for garnish

Bake the pie shell as directed. Place on wire rack to cool but IMMEDIATELY sprinkle the 1/3 cup shredded cheddar evenly over the bottom to let it melt into the crust.

As it cools, toss chicken, pineapple, 1/3 cup olive slices, almonds and celery in a bowl.

Blend sour cream and mayonnaise in another bowl.

Mix 2/3 of the mayo mix with the chicken mix. Spread evenly over the cheese in the pie crust.
Spread remaining mayo mix on top of the filling. Sprinkle the 3 Tablespoons of shredded cheddar over that topping. Garnish with more black olives.

Refrigerate overnight, or at least several hours.

    Enjoy! 🙌🥰

    1. Dorothy in PA and the World

Dear Sally, I am a big dreamer. I feel if you are going to dream, make it a big one (smile). You are welcome to join Debbie and me as we create our ideal doll room.

I ordered the doll carrying case from Ed. I am waiting for it to be delivered.

    2. Debbie in North Carolina

Another great chicken recipe! I tend to agree that some parts of the country are more doll friendly. Maybe a doll only auction house would be a one and done solution. I have been enjoying viewing your collection on Pinterest.

    3. Hi Sally,
Yes, I just have to keep telling myself and reminding him that today is better than yesteday!

I have to ask…who were your very first 2 RRFF dolls? I’m guessing Bella was one of them…

      Wow…another fabulous looking recipe….Chicken Party Pie…
      sounds delicious…thanks so much,
      Blessings, Jeanne

  11. Barbara in SE Texas

For various and sundry reasons I have not contributed to the comments lately but have been reading the posts and comments for the past few days so I’m going to see if I can remember what I’ve wanted to say First something funny I thought of when I as typing “sundry”. When I was working as secretary for the head of maintenance in a plant, he gave me a punch list to type up of the things he noticed when he was doing a safety check. One of the things he noticed was that there were various “incendiary” items strewn about. Since I was working for a paint manufacturer and not an explosives manufacturer I knew what he really meant, but I was laughing so hard I couldn’t type for a good while.

I missed the wonderful conversation the other day welcoming Lauren to the sofa. As was said by many, there is definitely always room for lots more. It’s an expandable sofa. But we still need to know where Lauren calls home if she has no problem sharing. Also I need to go back and read Sasha’s post as soon as I finish here but welcome to Sasha also.

As for what one might like to visit if they were to visit me here in Sealy, TX, well there is the original Sealy mattress factory museum. The history of the company is fun to know and can be found online if you can’t make the trip. Often when I tell people I’m from Sealy they jokingly ask if it has anything to do with the mattress. When I say yes, they say “really”. We are such a small town and I guess people don’t think someone from here can invent anything like that. One of my friends from Bellville, another small town nearby, is always saying how the people in Houston don’t think the people out our way know how to use a knife and fork. And she doesn’t say it jokingly. There is that attitude toward us, but living in a small, safe town makes it easy to ignore all that.

Now for the recipe question. Well one of my favorite recipes and one I make and take to pot lucks often is Jeanne’s Strawberry salad. I can’t remember the exact name but she has it here on her blog so it can be searched. It’s so delicious.

I didn’t get finished reading all the comments yesterday because I was dying of heat exhaustion. Okay maybe that is a little drama queenish but I woke up yesterday morning to find my A/C had croaked overnight. We hoped it was something simple like a run capacitor but it turned out to be the compressor. Things would have been a whole lot worse if it weren’t for son Sean being an A/C contractor. So we got the whole package at his cost. We had to upgrade to the new system that is being required and would have had to replace it when we go to sell, but it did mean we had to replace both the A/C and heater. Since the A/C had been replaced once but the heater was from our first replacement in something like 1998, we weren’t too unhappy with the situation. But the temp in the house by the time the unit was up and running was 89 degrees so not much got done yesterday. My son has a contract with RUUD (pronounced rude) and they’re units are not only very efficient with low maintenance but they are actually very pretty. Sean felt he needed to inform me that I was getting a really good deal since for anyone else it would have cost twice as much because of the labor. I reminded him that I had already paid for the labor. It’s called childbirth.

I just completed a cute dress for my Mini Maru Chloe. The pattern is by Kathy Anne Designs. It’s a summer dress with a strap over one shoulder and the other is regular with a bow on the shoulder. David usually likes everything I make but he rarely mentions an outfit on his own. He saw Chloe sitting on my coffee table wearing her new frock and actually told me the dress was cute and he liked the style. I’ll be telling Kathy.

So glad to hear George’s surgery went well. Hopefully there will be no more. So good you have someone there to help you with the logistics. I was very glad the boys were here during the day after David’s two knee surgeries.

Speaking of Vincent Price, I watched Svengoolie a couple weeks ago to see “House on Haunted Hill”. I remember seeing it as a child and thought it was totally scary. I was a bit disappointed to see it was not so scary these days but was more of a mystery movie.

    1. Hi Barbara, our babysitter got me out of bed to watch House on a Haunted Hill because she was scared. I had nightmares for days! I haven’t had the nerve to watch it again.

    2. Hi Barbara,
I’m glad you found time to stop by and leave a few comments today.
I’m also glad you like that strawberry salad. Me too…I think I could live on it during the summer…I’ve never tried this before, but it might be good with some grilled chicken. I might try that next time I make it.

I loved your AC story….not necessarily the part about it going out or the cost, but the ladt part…about paying for it with the labor of giving birth to him. :o)

Isn’t it fun when your hubby sees a pretty doll dress you’ve made and tells you?

      Svengoolie? You watch him too?
      Made me smile and laugh…
      Blessings, Jeanne

Jeanne it is so good that you have Rebecca with you to help. I know I would be struggling now if Sam wasn’t here. I had a letter from the hospital to say I am on the waiting list for an assessment! Should hear within 4 months! If I then get my hip replacement I will really need Sam. Hope George makes a full recovery soon

    1. Hi Anne,
We just got homevyesterday and Rebecca and Karn are leaving in the morning… I’m sad it was such a short visit, but glad I got to see her at all… you’d probably be thrilled to have a day and a half with your sister!
      Blessings, Jeanne

  13. Glad you and George are home and he is settled in…hopefully without too much pain. Ice is the key.
Has been fun to read everyone’s ides and recipes this week. That Lemon dessert is going to be great and the Chicken salad and the Broccoli salad and Strawberry Pie…and all the ones I have forgotten.☺️ The Hot Fudge talk made me hungry for my Hot Fudge . We lived hin the country and were having acraving for a Buster Sundae.but it was too late to start out to town. It is a regular hot fudge Sundae with peanuts and whipped cream on it…we had the ice cream and peanuts but no hot fudge..so made one up and it has been a favorite…in fact jars of it have been Christmas gifts

    1/2 cup cocoa
    1/2 t salt
    1 1/2 cups sugar
    2 Tablespoons corn starch
Mix these ingredients in a 2 qt saucepan
    Add
    1 1/2 cups milk..2% or whole
Pour milk slowly into the pan…stirring well. Heat on medium while stirring until everything has dissolved and it comes to a boil. Boil 1 minute
Take off the heat and add 2 Tablespoons butter and 2 teaspoons vanilla

Debbie..hope your Little Darling will be coming soon. They are worth waiting for❤️
Dorothy gave you the link to the Ning site…that is a fun place for LD lovers.
Love your Dream Doll Room Dorothy…especially the waist high shelf for pictures . Have fun at the UFDC Convention.. I wanted to go but maybe next year.
Welcome Sasha..now we know you are a Sofa Sister too! So do you have a Sasha Doll?
Joy..the box that is coming this time may be a whole new adventure since it will be so BIG?
Thank goodness for your son the AC guy Barbara. We have become used to A C and can’t be without it 🥴☺️
Trying to think of something fun for Fathers Day for my “ other person”🥴 I shared my one idea with the kids..and they ran with it…now now I’m stumped🤔

    1. Dorothy in PA and the World

Dear Kathie, I am not going to UFDC this year. I just couldn’t make it happen. Maybe next year if it’s on the East Coast.

Thanks for your kind words about the Little Darling site on ning. We do try to have fun with our dolls.

Let us know what you finally get for a Fathers Day gift.

    2. Hi Kathie
It IS good to be home…and we ARE using plenty of ice…
Oh Kathie, if I had to pick one thing at the Dairy Queen, it would be a Peanut Buster Parfait! I haven’t had one for a while, but your recipe sure made my mouth water…
I bet we have all gained 5 pounds just drooling over these recipes!!
      Thanks Kathie,
      Blessings, Jeanne
