The last few days…

I went out to take a picture of the baby sparrows, but I’m sorry to report, they are gone. They were too little to fly away so I’m guessing something got them… :o(

Before I left for my hubby’s knee surgery, I wanted to take something with me to do in the hospital. I decided if I traced some soles for the Ruby Red Fashion Friends flip flops, onto some leather pieces, I could cut them out!

We went up the night before my hubby’s surgery and as we were driving through the town, my hubby spotted a JoAnn Fabrics store. I told him I didn’t have to go, but he drove up to the door and said I should at least check it out. Well, I was SO glad I did. It was the largest JoAnn’s I had ever been in and was a Super Store to me. They were getting ready to close so I looked quickly. I found some really nice elastic cord to use for my doll sandals. My store doesn’t carry these…

I only bought a few of them that first night, but one morning before I went to the hospital, I ran back and picked up some others. I can’t wait to give them a try…

My day was very busy, and Friday starts my hubby’s Physical Therapy, but I know things will be better in a little while.

So for today’s question…
What’s going to keep you busy today?

See you tomorrow,
Blessings, Jeanne

Woohoo! Looks like more sandals are in the works! How nice that George insisted you go into that JoAnn’s and take a look!! And you got all those soles cut out while you waited for his surgery to be done, too!! Good for you.

Well, tomorrow I will be going for my mammogram. Fun fun fun…. Oh, well, I’ve put it off a few times, so I guess I’m due. (My last experience was not a good one, which I told the lady when she called to make the appt.)

Other than normal meals, I will try to get into my sewing room and maybe pleat the fronts of the blouse I want to smock for myself. And I might even cut out that 7th short overalls, and get that started!

Dear Charlotte, I hope the procedure goes smoothly tomorrow. I hope you plan to do something special afterward.

About an hour ago, we had a huge storm blow thought, although it was more wind than rain, and now that it is getting light, I see we will be cleaning up branches and leaves in the yard, and setting things back up again, like chairs and plants. We can sure use the rain, but not all that lightning and wind!

Oh, what a shame about the birds! We have had that happen here too, just when you get all involved in the nest and babies, whoosh, where did they go?

We have a huge Jo-Ann’s close by, but it is in such a hard to get place, I seldom go there unless I am looking for some specific thing. It’s huge, and you can spend serious time there just looking! That’s great that you found something you can use for the sandals or whatever you have in mind!

I’m hoping George’s pain will subside soon, I know from firsthand experience, it is not fun!

I did get Molly’s campground scene set up and took pictures, so you will get those soon.

Looking forward to your camping scene. I so want that cute little AG camper/trailer that is out recently. Great accessories with it too. I think it would go perfectly with that crazy tent I made awhile back. 🙂

Molly is probably my favorite AG doll. But since I don’t collect 18″ dolls I got me a mini Molly and I also have a mini Julie. I can’t wait to see your campground photos. Like Joy I would love to have the AG camper. It’s too great and would actually fit my smaller dolls with room to spare.

  3. I’m recycling all sorts of things today at several recycle sites. Including at our zoo. Then running a bunch of errands. I have an organized method making my recycling and other errands more fun – and while all this driving, it helps by listening to my various CDs.
Then tomorrow I get to play in the doll room! Yay!

Jeanne, I can only imagine the shoes or flip flops you will be making! I’m sure that cutting out all those soles helped relaxed you during George’s surgery.

It’s good he is starting his physical therapy. He’s on the mend!
    Have a nice weekend everyone!

Just curious, Paula, but what exactly is it you recycle at the zoo? Conjures up a lot of interesting things in my mind.

      1. Hi Barbara, it’s called Terracycle Collection items. The zoo partners with Terra- Cycle to recycle household waste. Not sure how widespread that company is in our country. Some of the things are Solo cups, potato chip bags – the ones that are silver inside. Toothpaste tubes and caps, Scotch tape dispensers, mechanical pencils, pens, markers and highlighters. Caps from drink bottles, the inside bag of cereal boxes and some other things I don’t normally purchase. Perhaps you could find their site online?
This morning when I went to the zoo, never thought about the huge amount of school buses taking summer students to the zoo and a ga- zillion young parents with their sweet children. I was allowed to go pass the buses and put our recycled things in the containers provided at the entrance of the zoo. It’s an amazing feeling to recycle !

  4. I meant to also add, how sad that the baby birds are gone. Especially when it was a joy to check up on their progress.
Well, all I can say in a positive and comforting way, is they’re now flying in Heaven.

Sorry about the birds. Once a nest is exposed, it is open to predators. We had a new cat visitor yesterday wearing a collar and bell. Immediately tells me she/he was looking for lunch. Ugh.
So wish that we had one of the large Joann’s. The one south of here is larger, but we rarely get down that way, and with the price of gas probably not.
Hope the PT goes well. Will the therapist be coming to your home or do you have to travel? Hope it is the former.
My UPS delivery has been delayed until Monday. Crazy people put her on a flight to Ontario, CA, from Anchorage, rather than to Oakland. Now there is a mechanical delay. Hope she didn’t get stuck in a conveyor belt. 🙁

Dear Jeanne, it sounds like your husband is on the mend. Luckily he has a wonderful home nurse, you!

Today I am going to the opening of an exhibit at a local museum. Later, I will be Zooming in to Ed’s gathering with Doug James about the 1470 doll. If any of the Sofa Sisters Zoom in, please wave to me (smile).

  7. I hope the birds actually flew away…at least I’m going to think they did☺️ Having PT already….gosh hope it goes well. I envy your colored elastic..it will be awesome on those flip flops.
Some days are pretty quiet but today a doll friend is coming to see if I have eyes to fit a tiny doll she has…then at 1:00 we go get a bi pap machine for my “ other person” and at 4:00 I have color and cut. My white hair will NOT hold color for very long at all…she adds color so it is kind of a reverse frost. 🥴
Hope you have a good weekend!

Ugh! I remember well taking David to his PT sessions. Since his knee surgeries were back-to-back it seemed like we were doing that for about three months. I was glad when he could go on his own. In the beginning it was difficult getting him out of the car and into the center. They don’t do at-home PT here unless someone is truly unable to go in. One day they had to cut his session short because even on the pain meds he still was feeling pain and wasn’t handling it well. He’s getting around so well these days so it was all definitely worth it.

So many dollies arriving at so many new forever homes. Lucky them and their new mamas. I’m still waiting on the arrival of my Magalie LD, Amelia Dawn. She should be arriving sometime in early fall. And then in late fall they will be coming out with another L’il Dreamer and then another in late winter so I’m saving my money for all those. When Amelia Dawn arrives I will have all four LD sculpts. Not sure where I’ll go from there but I’m sure I’ll find someone irresistible. I need to participate more in the LD website that Dorothy in PA and the World shared. I enjoy my LDs so much I need to do more sharing and I really love seeing what others share. My Greer Adele looks so beautiful in her Spring Fling frock I’m sure she’d love having her picture taken to share with others. I was planning on some pictures for the blog as soon as I finish a couple more things.

I finally got finished reading all the amazing recipes. I hope to try all of them but I seem to share the “I’m not fond of cooking” gene that many seem to have. My mother was an amazing cook. I always said she could get a four-course meal out of an empty refrigerator. My sister, Beth, likes to cook and so she was often found in the kitchen with Mom. Where was I? Up in the sewing room making clothes for myself and my sisters. My happy place!

I’m so sorry about the birds. What a disappointment. I remember the time some renegade dogs managed to open the door to my son’s chicken coop. Anyone who thinks animals only kill out of necessity is wrong. Those dogs killed all the chickens purely for sport. I know. I had to dispose of all the dead carcasses since my husband and son were out of town on a job. It was heartbreaking.

As to what is going to keep me busy today, I’m hoping to get started on a new summer outfit for my RRFF Naomi Ruth (Freida renamed). It is a romper made with patriotic theme fabrics for July 4th so I better get cracking..

    1. Dorothy in PA and the World

Dear Barbara, thanks for the information about the L’il Dreamer dolls. I did not know about the new dolls. I am not on Facebook so I definitely miss things. We will have to let our ning members know about this. Please feel free to post something if you like.

It’s a sunny day here in PA. It is very still. Even the birds are whispering.

  9. Elaine M. Hoffman

Dear Jeanne, Happy Summer to Everyone! So sorry about your baby birds. It breaks your heart when you see them gone. We have baby Robin’s in our Maple tree out back and we look from a distance into their next and see Mama or Papa in the nest feeding the open mouths. So adorable. I talk to the parents and tell them it is okay, I won’t hurt you. The parents are very cautious when I am around even on the other side of the yard. I am so sorry George had to have surgery. Hope he is on the mend soon. How is Rebecca and Reuben doing? I miss your photos of Reuben. I hope to have my new Westie Puppy soon in Autumn. They told my husband and I 9 mos to wait. Can’t wait, she will be such great company for me. My twin grandsons just turned 2 years old and they are learning how to say Papa, Bye, Bye and Miles is blowing kisses Goodbye and waving his hand side ways. So adorable, but with turning 2 they are also having Terrible two’s melt downs. We have Koi fish and goldfish in our enclosed patio out back and they love it, but when it gets too hot I say we need to come inside and Henry got so mad last weekend and smacked his head on the pavement and got a little scratch on his forehead. I was so worried because he was screaming and he did it himself because he got mad. I am so worried about them doing this. I do not remember my son doing this when he was little (their Daddy). I have to watch them tomorrow and hope this doesn’t happen again. Jeanne, you are so lucky your husband suggests you go into JoAnne’s. Mine usually says, you don’t need anything else. That was so smart of you to do something constructive while George was in surgery. You got a lot done. I love all the colors you found in JoAnne’s with the elastic. Why is JoAnne’s closing? I heard some of them were closing. Why do you think that is? We already have Hancock Fabrics gone in Colorado Springs, CO . We don’t need for JoAnne’s to disappear as well. I hope that doesn’t happen here as well. I ordered most of my things online anyway and at Walmart in our fabric section.

When I had baby robins here, just as the got cute, they were gone. I though they’d need a day or two to practice, but they didn’t. Something might have taken them, or maybe they were ready to go — it happens very fast.

    Love your pink toenails.
