Ruby Red Fashion Friends, Stella, gets a slip and her dress finished….

OOPS…
I thought today was the 13th!!! So I had my blog scheduled for tomorrow!! Sorry!

Stella is pretty happy about the way she’s looking in her new dress. She told me green is her favorite color and she’s hoping Luca likes it too! (Cross country crushes can be “so” much fun!!)

Today was one if those days where the time consuming parts of making a dress took place. There’s nothing particularly exciting about sewing the snaps down the back of the dress, or hemming it by hand or sewing teeny tiny buttons on the trim for her sash, but it “always looks better” when you get those things done!

Here are a few pictures…

Isn’t Stella pretty? I just love her looks!!

I tied the cluny lace in a bow in the back, but the winner may think it’s better tied in a square knot. If so, just trim off the length a little bit.

I also managed to make her a pretty slip…it’s soft but has just enough body to hold her dress out.

Hopefully tomorrow I can make something “fun!”

See you then,
Blessings, Jeanne

I am glad you are ok. Was worried when didn’t see a post. Out thrift shopping! So excited because t/omorrow there is a garage sale with 200 American Girl clothes/outfits(?). Hope they are cheap! =D

Glad to hear that nothing is wrong at Jeanne’s place. Not having the blog show disrupts my mental acuity. Ha ha
Everyone will be happy to know that Alex arrived via UPS yesterday afternoon escaping discovery by other person. I saw the truck out in front and started talking to other person who was playing on the phone just a matter of steps from the front door. I suggested several things that he should look up for us. Like a friend’s house on zillow who was very excited at the current pricing and anything random that might entice him to leave the couch and head to the office and larger screen computer. Nope, wasn’t moving. Then, I heard the thump of the package on the mat. Horrors! He looked up, but by making myself large, I think the noise was diffused and thoughts were I had just bumped the back of the couch. And then the wait. Oh, I hope other person doesn’t decide to open the door and go outside. I sat down as well and blabbed. Grabbed some sewing to steady my nerves. And finally, other person rallied, got up, and headed to the kitchen. Will he pass the door and open it? No, headed to the office! Sigh of relief. Ever so quietly, I slowly turned the often squeaky lock and even more so, the door handle. There was the box sitting perfectly poised right smack in front of the door. What a good UPS driver. 🙂 Nabbed that well known and sized doll box and after carefully latching the door again, escaped to the family room and hid the box. Big smile! 🙂 I was ever so bold as to actually open the shipper box and pull out the doll box inside. Usually, I have to end up waiting until much later before opening, but not this time. Alex was very happy to be released from his trappings and meet the others. He is a great doll and will, I’m sure, become fast friends with the rest of the boys. Maybe the girls as well. 🙂
Not so sure I can take the delivery stress, but this afternoon, a little Meadow twinkle is due to arrive from Kentucky. 🙂

Dear Joy, wow, another “close escape” story! Do you wonder if Other Person follows a blog himself where he makes posts about your doll subterfuge adventures? That would be fun to read also (laugh).

Just keep buying dolls and sharing your escapades. I always think of Lucy and Ethel when I read your stories (smile). You are such a good writer.

Now, that would be pretty interesting if other person was a writer or poster. But, he fortunately, is not. You are too kind to mention my writing. I never got above a C in HS. 🙁

Dear Joy, you found your writer’s voice and that’s the main thing. You are a natural storyteller with a wonderful sense of humor.

I think that in high school it is all about pleasing the teacher and passing the class. As well it should be (laugh).

I found my writer’s voice in my early 30s through writing poetry and sharing it with another writer I trusted. He gave me great feedback.

I’m glad to see the blog up this morning. I was hoping you just had pressed the wrong key and were not stuck in an ER and am very happy that there were no problems. You deserve some peaceful days in your clean, organized sewing room.

The tiny buttons are cute on Stella’s sash and I love that bow. The colors in this fabric are so rich. They really suit Stella. The slip looks soft — the Stella or friend that wins it will be very happy.

I’m finally getting my garden planted. We are weeks behind Linda in St. Louis. But no pollen and no mosquitoes yet — perfect planting weather.

Dear Jeanne, the dress looks lovely. Did we guess correctly about what you are going to do with the leather swatch? We said shoes or a bag or both.

  5. Linda in St. Louis

I am again late to the party, and think Charlotte must now be sleeping! I usually open the blog around 3:30 in the morning, but it was not there. I tried finding it the way I usually do, but nope, not there! Actually, it still didn’t “officially” come to me in my mail, and neither did yesterday’s blog. I have it now, obviously, but it hasn’t come in my email…….yet!

I LOVE Stella’s outfit, Jeanne! Those tiny buttons are just perfect, and the colors are so rich! The buttons tone down the white of the lace so it isn’t too white. Of course, having Stella model it doesn’t hurt!😊. I love the lacy bow in the back too!

I decided to go outside and get some things done before it gets too hot, but boy, is it muggy! Yesterday I had a little adventure with a black snake, and today I happened upon an ant’s nest, getting ants all over! Ahhhh, nature! I’m back in now, none the worse for the adventures!

I just saw that the blog is now here, so here I am! Joy, where in heavens name do you put all those dolls? I have enough trouble keeping up with just ten AG dolls and all their “stuff”!

So Marilyn is just getting started with planting her garden! The Farmers Markets here are already open and ready for business. That’s what you get when you have rain, rain, rain!

So, what happened with the black snake? Poisonous? Hope not. Ants, biting type? Fortunately, none of those in our yard. An occasional lizard. Lots of birds. Neighbor’s cat. That’s about it. 🙂

  6. Laura in Ohio

Just came in from being in the garden trying to get a handle on planting my Mother’s Day perennials.
Stella’s dress looks so sweet and the buttons on the sash are cute. Green is certainly her color.
Glad you got Alex in without issue, Joy, even if it took some clever distraction on your part.

  7. I didn’t get todays blog either…but found it by going to yesterdays😉
The details are making it even better. Love the little buttons on the lace and the slip…and the leather? Wondering what it will be🤔
Good grief…supposed to be 94 today and storms tonight…hope rain comes with it.
Some of the plants I got for Mothers Day are not happy with the wind and heat🥴
