My Ruby Red Fashion Friend, Stella, said, “Look at my new shoes….and purse!”

Another busy day for me, Food Pantry and some errands, computer work with/for my hubby, dinner and FINALLY back in my sewing room. I was determined to get those shoes finished…and I managed to… and another surprise!

Stella is quite pleased with her new shoes and wanted to show everyone. The girls on the dolly shelf are a bit miffed at her for being so happy about her shoes… when they are standing there naked and barefoot! EEP!

Well, I better just show you some pictures and try to get myself out of this hot water! :o)

I ordered a hollow hole flower punch and used it to cut out some flowers…and I decided to add them to Stella’s shoes… just for something different. A pretty glass rose seed bead was added in the center of two for each shoe…. Then I decided to add a pearl to the side of the shoe, secured tightly and for the strap I punched a hole and then made a slit off of it, and it’s pretty quick to put the shoes on your dolls feet now. If you just push the hole and slit part of the strap over the pearl and then use your fingertips to make the strap go down over the pearl, it works best.

I added a heel to the bottom of the shoe sole and finished off my edges as best I could and burnished them… this veg tanned leather seems kind of dry and doesn’t pick up much of a shine when I polish it… oh well…

Once I got the shoes finished, I had a small scrap of the leather laying there and decided I might as well make a purse, so here you go! Stella REALLY likes it… and your doll will too! Oh, and I still have to finish something for Stella’s hair… I can’t forget that!

Okay, here are some pictures to share… and Monday I have pictures from Charlotte! You won’t want to miss them!

…and one last picture.

…and I just wanted you to know, Linda… I picked up ALL my shoe and purse stuff and put it ALL away! My room looks wonderful still! :o)

Have a great Saturday!
I’ll see you Monday,
Blessings, Jeanne

Jeanne, I just LOVE those shoes! The little flowers are a perfect embellishment for them, and something any little girl would love, I’m sure, The purse is a cute as can be, too. No wonder Stella looks so proud in her new outfits!

I realized tonight, when looking at the dress on her, that the way the pattern repeats in the print, it almost looks like a border of the palest flowers near the hem. What a happy accident that was!

Glad you got my pictures, Jeanne. I’m wondering which ones you’ll use, since I sent several, and different topics! (a little teaser there, for the sofa sisters…)

Joy, I well remember those salt-water sandals, which we got for our son every summer when he was little. The summer he was 5, he and I, and my dear friend (and his godmother) Joyce, took a trip to Michigan. We visited my best friend June’s parents, and she and her two kids were up, and other family members, too. While June and Joyce and I went to visit former teachers and other friends, June’s mom and sister took the kids to their uncle’s goat farm, where the little boys had a Great time playing with the goats! Daniel was in the bathtub when we got back–I did have extra clothes along!–and June’s sister asked if I had brought any other shoes along for Daniel…. (you can imagine why, I’m sure!! 😂)

The sandals got scrubbed and sanitized twice, and he wore them the rest of the summer! Gotta love salt-water sandals! If he’d been wearing sneakers, I’d have had to pitch them and buy new.

Barbara, I’m glad you’re starting to sew for yourself again! I think there might be a Lutterloh group on Facebook; you might try a search for that. I’ve not used it myself, but have heard from others who have, and loved it. Let me know how it goes.

    1. Thanks so much, Charlotte,
I had to go take a look at Rozen’s dress to see what you were talking about with the flowers kind of making a border… it was purely by accident that that happened. I’m glad you like her shoes and purse. I enjoyed stretching my imagination on them.

I had to look up salt water sandals. I’m not sure if I ever heard them called that. To me, we just always called them sandals… with no particular style for them… just sandals.

      Thanks Charlotte,

Oh, nice, Jeanne, to know that not only did you make a complete outfit for Stella, minus something for her head, you STILL have a nice, clean and organized sewing room! Kudos to you!

I have no idea what you might have in mind for her hair, but I think the bow you have now is perfect, and I hope you include that in your listing along with something else you have in mind.

The shoes are darling! I was hoping for some type of embellishment to dress them up. As they were, they could have been cute little school shoes, but this dress might be too fancy for school! The purse, I’m sure, makes Stella feel more grown up! That is amazing that you had enough leather to make it! You sure didn’t skimp on anything!

Now to wait and see what Charlotte has for us Monday!

    1. HI Linda,
Maybe if I just pretend you can see me at the end of each night, and tell myself, “Linda might be watching… you better put things back where they belong” I will be able to keep it nice and neat. I sure did like walking in there this morning and everything was in its place. Thanks!
Glad you like the shoes and purse. A few more times of tweaking these and I’ll be ready to make my pattern a permanent one… :o)
      Thanks Linda,
      Blessings, Jeanne

Love, love, love those shoes. The whole outfit is adorable. You find some of the nicest fabrics.
Hope you have a quieter weekend!

    1. HI Sylvia,
I’m glad you like this outfit… all the way down to her shoes. I’m liking them very much too… I’ve ALWAYS like Mary Janes..
As far as my weekend being quiet… not so much… I got up this morning and was working on a spaghetti lunch for a meeting tomorrow after church… then tonight we had a birthday for a guy turning 50 and I made a double batch of corn casserole, and tomorrow, I have to get the spaghetti lunch ready… spaghetti, salad, garlic bread, bought brownies, cheesecake and cookies. It won’t be too bad, as I got the majority of the stuff done today… just have to cook my noodles in the morning and mix it with the sauce in my crock pots.
      Thanks, Jeanne

Stella looks like she is off to go shopping for a birthday gift for her bestie. Nice finish on her shoes and bag. Hope she doesn’t run into any goats along the way, like Charlotte’s son when he was little. 🙂
As to the food pantry, around here it is Mail Carrier’s Day where those inclined put out bags of suitable, not expired, food which the mail people pick up and deliver to the local food bank. We have our bag all ready to put out. 🙂
Weather around here has started heating up, so I’ll be sprinkling a little saved water around the yard. Here comes summer. Take care everyone.

What a great idea Mail Carrier day is Joy. It wouldn’t work here our postie’s still ride cycles with a kind of covered one for inclement weather! Not much room for food bags. Our local supermarket chain is running a promo at the moment. If you pay an extra $20 at the checkout they send a food parcel to our local food bank. I guess there is more than $20 worth of food in the bag. I would hope so anyway.

    2. Thanks Joy,
I haven’t thought of a story line just yet, but a birthday party sounds nice! No goats… no!
We had that too, but my morning was booked, well, my whole day, actually, with cooking stuff… see Sylvia’s comment from me… and it’s 8:20pm now, so I missed the mail bag pick up…
It has certainly been hot here! yesterday it was 92 with a heat index of 100! The humidity was 81%, so it was sweating weather! Not my favorite!
      Thanks Joy,

There’s bound to be mutiny on the dolly shelf soon since the RRFFs keep popping up between every other doll. I sense a bit of favoritism here. LOL.
The shoes are super cute and the flowers add the perfect touch and of course the requisite purse.I also noticed the border that Charlotte pointed out. A very happy accident.
Looking forward to what Charlotte has for us Monday.
We’re in the low ’80s…. summer has arrived. Need to hook up the rain barrels.

    1. HI Laura,
There is a bit of mutiny on the dolly shelf, but I just keep telling the girls, their turn will come. I’m a bit partial, as these RRFF dolls are so hot right now… you have to strike while the doll is popular… and they certainly are…
I think it’s getting warm everywhere… unless Marilyn has some freak snow storm in June, I think the hot weather is here for everyone! :o)

I really love Stella’s shoes. They are cuter than cute. I’d love to have these in my size. Great that you had enough leather left for a matching purse. This is another wonderful outfit for the RRFFs. I’m sure there will be a bidding war on this one.

I don’t think the saltwater sandals were popular where I lived – nowhere near the beach. I think we mostly went barefoot in the summer or wore flip-flops. A lot of our friends and neighbors went to the Jersey beaches for vacation in the summer so they may have known what they were but I never heard it mentioned. Maybe it was a West Coast thing. I never saw a beach until I was out of high school when I went with friends. My mother could not tolerate sand in that quantity. She had a hard enough time with a backyard sandbox. She also couldn’t handle bisque or any type of frosted glass.

I can’t wait to see Charlotte’s pictures. She’s been teasing us for awhile now. What a funny story about her son. I remember the one summer Jason went to visit David’s parents for a couple weeks in Kansas farm country. He was about nine years old. He did not know to watch where he stepped when Dad took him to see the animals. My father-in-law had little patience with children and their foibles and he got sick of cleaning Jason’s shoes. Not to mention Jason talked incessantly while he was fishing with his grampa. That was totally unacceptable. He wasn’t invited back.

Home Sew has a wonderful assortment of leather pieces for $8.25. Both reviewers said they were pleased there were some larger pieces, one even mentioning this assortment was much better than the last one for piece sizes.

Pixie Faire has a new pattern for 18″ dolls. It’s a dress called “Pretty Pleats”. Really cute. I can envision it made up in many different fabrics. My MA Gracie and Natalie are back home from visiting Kathie for orthopedic repairs. They said she has a lovely bedside manner and they had a great visit. They saw the dress this morning and told me they would each like to have one for back-to-school. I told them to go ahead and pick their fabric since I’m sure I’ll be getting the pattern.

    1. HI Barbara,
Thanks for your kind compliments on Stella’s shoes… I like them too, and would go for a pair for myself too… I’ve always liked Mary Janes… now to get them perfected! :o)
I’m like you, I never heard them called Salt Water Sandals either… Southern Illinois is the “flip flop” region I think… sandals are just sandals…

I saw the Home Sew leather scraps too… it was tempting, but I’ve got plenty for now… but I’ve never seen them offer it before… I read the reviews too…

I’ll have to take a look at the new pattern, Pretty Pleats… patterns are my downfall… right next to lace, and buttons and chips… yep, chips…any kind! :o(
      Thanks Barbara,
      Blessings, Jeanne
