Let’s have a Giveaway!!

We were hit with lots and lots of sleet today and it’s pretty treacherous out there on the roads…at least in my neck of the woods! The huge pine trees out by the road are so covered with ice, their branches are almost touching the ground. Our huge Magnolia’s leaves are very heavy too and sagging.

I’m guessing the ice frozen to my satellite dish is causing me to have spotty internet service… we actually lost power several times today and once for almost 3 hours. It came back on and I was in the middle of cooking some fish when it went off again. We got out some candles and were going to have a candlelight dinner and it came back on just as we sat down. Oh well, we blew them out and left the lantern on… :o)

I couldn’t seem to focus on anything today so I decided it was time for a slip Giveaway. I can’t tell you when I had the last one. Sorry, but this will just be for my U.S. readers…

Either in the comments below or in an email to me (hit the Contact Me tab at the top of my header) I’d like you to name 3 dolls you have that you’d like a slip for… and if I draw your name, I’ll make a slip for ONE of them… I’ll surely have at least one of the dolls you mention…

You have until midnight, Illinois, Central time zone to get your name in the drawing. I’ll let you know Saturday who won.

I have a few slip pictures I can pull up just to give you an idea of what kind I make… in case you haven’t seen them…

CIMG2450

Well, my computer is TOO slow… so those examples will have to do…

I hope you are staying warm… We’re trying!
See you tomorrow,
Blessings, Jeanne

First of all, Kathie, I do hope your husband is doing well now. A couple of years ago we spent Christmas in the hospital when Ron needed a pacemaker. Not my favorite way to spend a holiday! His pulse had gone down to 40 and I took him to the ER on Christmas Eve. He was transferred to the Everett hospital (our hospital’s cardiac doc was on vacation!!) on Christmas Day, and had his surgery the next day. Came thru it just fine, with no complications, thankfully. Pacemakers are wonderful things, and we are very thankful they are available, and as small as they are! I remember when my Grandpa had one in the early 70s, it was about the size of a small deck of cards, and you could clearly see it thru his skin!

Jeanne, it looks like your current auction is up to six bids!! I sense a bidding war on the horizon!!

Okay, three dolls I might like a slip for…..probably Ruby Reds, Little Darlings, and American Girl. Those are the ones I have the most clothing changes for, too (although I do have Boneka, Gigi/Ten Ping, etc.) (I can’t remember when you last had a drawing, either!)

In our house, Freida is Finally feeling like she’s part of things. Yup, she picked out her fabric and I got her dress cut out tonight! She wants to wait and surprise you all by not telling you what the fabric is like; I told her it might take a while to get it made and pictures taken, but she insists the element of surprise is part of the fun!

I meant to tell you all, Pixie Faire has a freebie today (Friday), the 1870s bustle dress from Thimbles and Acorns. Looks like they have a bunch of new patterns for RRFF dolls, too, including knitted ones!

      1. Jeanne, I would love to have a slip for one of my dolls. I have several AG’s, Effner Little Darlings, Riley’s, and Bitty Bethany’s. They would be honored to have a slip from you.

  3. Linda in St. Louis

Good morning, Jeanne! I don’t have three different size dolls, so that will probably disqualify me, but I do have 18-inch AG dolls, 10 of them, so someone always needs a slip! Then I have Betsy McCall, and Emmy, a Wellie Wisher, who are almost the same size, but Emmy is a tad bigger. Does that count??

We too, got a lot of sleet yesterday, and most everything was closed here. No power outages though, thank heavens! I believe it was Joy who mentioned having snow tires or chains on cars, but chains are not allowed here because they tear up the road. Snow tires are fine.
And, Kathie, prayers that your husband improves.

I hope Spring gets here fast!!!

  4. Karen from Kentucky

Thank you for the contest! An American Girl size or Wellie Wisher size would be special.

So far it is lightly snowing here.

  5. Jeanne, you are too good to your followers…thank you for always sharing your sewing tidbits with us.
I have lots of different size dolls! How about Ruby Red Fashion Friends, Little Darlings, and Boneka!

    1. Kathie from Omaha

      Oh!….a slip party😉
      I have a 14 “ Bella, a Little Darling, and a Gigi.
Seems like Mike is doing one step forward and two steps back. Thought he was going home today but his BP dropped to 50/30 over night so doing a heart cath to see what’s happening . The second probe seems good though.

  6. I have AG 18″ dolls, Wellie Wisher and 12″ Siblies doll. Any slip would be wonderful! I would also like to know how you do the thigh high stockings!

  7. Jeanne, I am so sorry for your bad weather! We have been through hurricanes here so I empathize! I love your slips and have wanted one for awhile! My sizes would be for Little Darling, Meadow Dumpling, or 10″ Boneka. Thank you even if I don’t win.

  8. Joy in northern CA

Looks like Noel’s outfit is at 6 bids Great!
Sorry about the sleet. Here still very cold this morning. 27. Too cold for us and the plants. However, I think it should be about it and hopefully, the temp won’t drop so low at night again.
As to slips, a tiny one would be perfect for the BBFlockling set. I could measure her waist as off hand I have no idea. Also the Ruby Reds would love one too, and my latest Meadow girl, Masha who might make it by Easter, will arrive and have nothing to wear, at all. 🙁 So kind of you to do a drawing! Thank you!
Hope you have a much warmer weekend everyone, and if you’re bored, RRFF and Happily has a Nashville girl out with a guitar. Pretty cute. 🙂

    1. Jeanne, you are so generous.
I don’t have 3 different types of dolls to choose from, only two. MyToners are displayed on a shelf in the same outfits always, so my only dolls who would love a slip are the American Girls and the Red Ruby girls – the RR’s don’t have any of your slips.
Thank you for doing this regardless of who wins!

Hope the weather in the Midwest and East settles down to retiring for the year!

  9. A giveaway.. how nice! I’ll pick RRFF, AG 18”, and Meadowdoll Dumpling:)
    Thank you💕

With all the nasty weather up there in the Northeast quad of our country , I’m embarrassed to say I’m enjoying 72 and blue skies here in Georgia..please keep safe and don’t go out if it’s not necessary.. stay safe!❄️

  10. How kind to have a giveaway, Jeanne. Two doll choices here now to wear a slip. One of my PC/AG girls or my Ruby Red would love one. Thank you.
Everything was glazed in ice this morning. Each branch is covered.
Prayers for you husband, Kathie. I hope things get better soon.

  11. Barbara in SE Texas

Oh! I just love your giveaways. I never win but it’s fun to see who does. I did not mention this in the dolly room this morning. There would be too much clamoring so I’ll pick. I would love one for my RRFFs, my Bonekas or my Meadow Dumpling. I just bought an adorable dress pattern for my Madow Dumpling Lolla and a slip would look so cute under it. I like the ones with the yoke.

Kathie, I am so sorry to hear about Mike. Many prayers that this all settles down quickly.
Complications are always nerve wracking because you worry about the outcome. After David had his heart surgery a year ago January he woke me one night to say he couldn’t sleep and his blood pressure was through the roof. He needed to go to emergency and insisted I take him to the hospital where he had surgery because they had all his records. It would have taken 20 min. to get to the ER in Bellville and just a little over that to get him to Katy so that’s where we went. On the way we actually discussed what I should do if he didn’t come home again. Thankfully he responded quickly to the medication they gave him to bring it down and he was released the next morning. Then when he had his second knee surgery the wound started bleeding. A 20 minute trip to the doctor’s office took over two hours due to an accident on the interstate. Once you pass a certain point there is no way to get off so we were committed. He was so miserable and cramped and there was nothing I could do. He passed out in the examining room. It was a hard day for him and actually set the healing process back several days. This getting old thing wouldn’t be so bad if our bodies would just cooperate.

Your current auction is coming along very nicely. But what’s not to like.

Still cold here. After 1 p.m. and still in the 30s. No precipitation though. I haven’t seen the sun in days. Gloomy! I’m going to spend the afternoon in my sewing room among all my bright fabric stash.

    1. Susette from Southern California.

Oh, dear! Should anyone have that problem again with the traffic, remember that the shoulders of the road are kept clear for just such an occurrence so an ambulance can get to a patient. Two hours is a very long time to survive such a condition. Very lucky 🍀 he made it!

  12. Susette from Southern California

I’m still feeling so fortunate to have won a fabric stash giveaway several years ago. It was a package with bits and pieces of fabric and trims out of which I made two dresses. It was so much fun to see what I could do with it. Thanks again, Jeanne.

Joy asked to see the orchids. I’ll wait until they are all in bloom and send a picture that Jeanne can use sometime if she’d like to.

  13. Sally from Colorado

Jeanne, you are so sweet and generous with your thoughtful giveaways. I am not going to participate because my kids are taken care of. There are plenty of sisters eager to have a new slip for one of their kids. Thanks so much.
Charlotte, thanks for your added note yesterday about 4-H. I bet you just love that judging and meeting new kiddos and seeing their projects.
Barbara, some harrowing medical stories, good advice from Susette, and best wishes to Kathie and Mike. Hi, Ingrid, Anne and Alina. Hope you ladies are all right.
Hope the floor project gets tackled soon, Jeanne, and that George made his appointment yesterday safely. I think that covers it.

  14. Alina from Krakow, Poland

    Hello, sisters from the couch.
The situation in our region of Europe is very dangerous. People, civilians and small children are dying in Ukraine. I am asking you to pray for peace.

    1. Joy in northern CA

Alina, please know that we are with you and are watching the news carefully. Please stay safe. Hoping the aggressor comes to his senses so peace can come again.

    2. Charlotte Trayer

Alina, please know that we are praying for the situation over there. We pray in our churches, and we pray in our homes. 💗

  15. Debbie in North Carolina

Nicely said Charlotte. Agree with call for prayer.
I am in the remodeling dumps. Stops and starts due to wrong parts and helpers in the hospital. I have been managing to read most posts and comments and admire everyone’s photos. Good luck with the auctions Jeanne.
I am not submitting my name for a slip. I can’t imagine it will be anytime soon that I will be dressing or displaying a doll.
    Blessings to all,
    Debbie
