The doll slip winner and I ended up a winner too…

I’ll go first…
If you missed it Friday evening, you missed history in the making… It wasn’t anything earth shattering, but it was pretty special to me. I broke a record for having the most hits/views on any auction I’ve ever listed… My “old” record was 870 hits and I was just thrilled to pass that, but then it just kept going up and up until the auction ended and I had 1047 hits! Wow! I was thrilled and a bit humbled thinking back on the times when I was happy just to get 10 or 20 hits in a week… If you’re out there and that’s where you ARE now… don’t give up, just keep going and someday it will happen to YOU too! I know lots of you were watching and some bidding and I thank you for that too! :o)
I hope the winner will be thrilled with their purchase! The set for Stella ended up going for $169.16! I know, I know! :o) Thank you dear Bidder! (bidders) :o)

Okay, now to the slips… I put 28 names in a plastic bag and shuffled them around…

…then I had my hubby draw a name out at midnight… and he drew out the name of Elaine Hoffman! (Sorry, the comments had to be in by midnight Friday night to make it into the drawing… so a few of you missed the deadline.) I’ll have more slip giveaways sometime… :o)

Congrats Elaine! In your comments you mentioned you’d like a slip for your 18″ doll… well, I took some pictures of the slips I ended up making and you can take a look at them. I put a number on each slip so you can pick the exact one you like… OR if you see something on another doll that you’d rather have, you can pick that one… then if you could be so kind as to email your address, I’ll get it in the mail for you…

I have 17 slips for sale after Elaine picks the one she wants…

I took 2 or 3 pictures of each slip…one of the doll IN the slip and one close up of the slip…all the slips have 2 layers so you can separate the 2 layers if you want to make it stand out a little more than it does already…

I also numbered the slips in case you don’t remember the name of the doll…

After Elaine picks the “winning slip” I will open it up to anyone on here who would like a patriotic slip… I had to go back to my Etsy shop and find out the prices I charged the last time I sold slips… it’s been awhile and I had forgotten…

Here are the prices for the slips… they will all come with FREE SHIPPING. Each slip shown is the slip you will receive… some are fuller and some are on the less full side… so pick the one you like… if you want any…

6 1/2″ slips for Navi sized dolls are $10.00

8″ Ten Ping, 10″ Boneka Noel and 10″ Patsy Tonner’s slips will also be $10.00

13″ Effner Little Darlings and 13″ My Meadow Dumplings (like Bailey) will be $11.00

14.5″ Ruby Red Fashion Friends slips will be $12.00

18″ American Girl doll slips are $13.00

Well, I think that’s all I needed to tell you… happy slip shopping, if your dolls need one… Also, if the one you wanted sells out, I do have more of the fabric in the smaller print and a little bit left if the bigger star print…

See you tomorrow,
Blessings, Jeanne

Congratulations to Elaine!! I’m sure your girl will be thrilled with her new petticoat!

Jeanne, I’ve sent you an email about ordering a couple of the slips; Hanna and Bella have decided they are “twins” and thus have to have matching slips…and now I’m going to have to make dresses to go over the slips!! LOL)

Hope everyone has a safe Memorial Day weekend (U.S.). Although I’ve had a number of family members who have served, only one “gave all”–my mom’s older brother Ed, who was on the carrier Bunker Hill when it was hit by two kamikaze planes, May, 1945, the year I was born. He was buried at sea. I currently have one nephew who is career Army; I think he has something like 8 years until retirement from that–makes me feel old!! (and he’s only 38!).

Oops…that should be the year BEFORE I was born! Poor proof-reading on my part!

  2. Linda in St. Louis

I love your slips, Jeanne, and know they really do make a dress stand out, since I have two. Congratulations, Elaine on your win, and have fun selecting the slip your dolly is pining for!

Almost forgot to say a big CONGRATS to you Jeanne, on YOUR big win! You shold be very proud of yourself, and I am sure you are!

So this is Memorial Day! All three of my uncles served, Marines and Army. Of course, they are all gone now, but managed to live good, long lives. One of them was a bomber pilot in WW 11, and gave my grandparents quite a scare with all his experiences!

Then my dear hubby was in the Army, spent a year in Vietnam, and we had the first few years of marriage living at Fort Lee in VA and Fort Knox, KY, so we know a thing or two about Army life!!

I hope everyone has wonderful day, in spite of the weather some of us are getting!

Congratulations! 🎉 It is an amazing outfit!Have a great 😊 day!

    Dear Jeanne,
Wow! That was a really exciting auction and congratulations upon getting so many hits, and for getting a well-deserved price. Both you and the winner are very lucky. I am so pleased for both of you!
Elaine, yahoo! Your doll will be all smiles in her star-spangled slip. Congratulations to you! 🎉🎈
Jeanne, I see Charlotte has ordered two RRFF slips. I would love one, and am wondering how we pay you? After Charlotte’s choices, if one is left a little less full, I would dearly love it. Bottom line, it doesn’t matter how full. My girls love getting your slips on!
A rather dreary day here in Salida. We were supposed to take the cog railroad up Pikes Peak today but it might be snowing up there and not good visibility. Another time.
This is the first time in quite awhile since our anniversary and the holiday have been the same. Giff is making a special meal, and I will be making a berry buckle for dessert. End of next week we had back to NH for almost 3 weeks, starting off with youngest grandson’s HS graduation. Have lots of old friends lined up for visits plus our week of full family vacation on a small lake there. Fingers are crossed that everyone will be on best behavior. A week is always a test of limitations!
Everyone have a great day, and again, huge congrats to Jeanne and Elaine.

  5. Congrats to Jeanne on a great auction and hurray for Elaine on winning a slip. I’m sure one of your girls will be thrilled.
We’re starting a heatwave of which I am not a fan. But, we will be using the fans as it may reach 100 today and warmer again tomorrow. All of this and we are on fire watch too.
It was great for the grands as they were able to drive up to the cabin over the long weekend and enjoy weather nice enough to even get into the water for a swim. At the end of a usual May, the river would be running way high, swift, and extremely too cold in which to attempt swimming. But, this year the water is running as low as September, and I’m not even sure there will be even a trickle by then. So sad to see the sierra in drought conditions.
There won’t be a program for Memorial Day at the cemetery, but it was wonderful to see all of the flowers and flags on veteran’s gravesites when we were there on Saturday. Hope everyone has a nice Memorial Day.

Congratulations Jeanne on a record setting auction! And to Elaine for the slip drawing. Thank you to all who have served and continue to serve our country.

  7. Barbara in SE Texas

Congratulations on your huge auction success. I couldn’t watch the end of the action but I checked in later and saw the final price. I was as happy as if I were the one selling it. Hopefully it went to a sofa sister. If so, maybe we’ll see it in pictures down the road.

Congratulations to Elaine for her slip win! I know one of her lucky dollies will be thrilled.

I rarely think of my family in military terms because we never had any who made a career of it. But the comments on it being Memorial Day reminded me that three of my uncles served in WWll and my mother was an Army nurse in WWll. She was in Japan and the Philippines. As the oldest child I was given the flag from her funeral. My grandparents had three children, two sons and a daughter, in the war at the same time. It must have been a very trying time for them. I also had two cousins who served in Vietnam. Of all these only one cousin remains and I always remember to thank him for his service.

I have one of the patriotic slips for my LD Claire from last year. I thought the slip was so pretty I made a dress to go with it that allowed the slip to show.

    1. Barbara in SE Texas

I can’t believe I left out my father-in-law in my list of family who have served. He was in the Army Air Corps before it became the Air Force.

  8. Kathie from Nebraska

The slips are just the right colors for Memorial Day. I’ll take one for the Meadow doll. I think the one I ordered will be here in a few days🤗🤗 it is a Giggi.
CONGRATULATIONS on the ensemble for Stella. It will be hard to top that one but several dolls could be dressed from all those pieces! I do think adding shoes is a major plus. The flip flops were sure a perfect accessory.
Is your brain spinning with ideas for more Fashion Friends? They really do wear all the different items very well.

  9. Dorothy in PA and the World

Dear Jeanne, congratulations on a wonderful bidding session! Elaine’s little cutie will surely be happy that she has a Jeanne made outfit going her way.

I sent you an email about purchasing a slip.

Well, today we say good-bye to May. I am grateful that we made it to May 2021 and that we can sit on your sofa and drink tea and coffee and have a nice chat.

Wishing you and the Sofa Sisters a nice Memorial Day.

  10. SUSETTE from Southern California

Congratulations on the terrific auction results. Someone is going to have great fun with everything that’s included. Also to Elaine on winning the slip.

For Joy, our weather here a few miles back from the beach will be 75 high and 62 at night with May Gray for the foreseeable future. Too cool for the beach. Then it’ll be June Gloom until July, then hot. Of course no rain this past year. We’re in trouble but no restrictions yet on water use.

  11. Laura in Ohio

Congratulations, Jeanne, on a very successful auction and getting a record breaking number of hits.
Happy Memorial Day, everyone!! We have quite a few family member’s who have served. My mom’s cousin is a General and served in Vietnam (Air Force). When he was five years old he told his mom, “I’m going to be a General”, and so he is.
Congratulations, Elaine, on winning a dolly slip. I’m sure someone will be so pleased.
My dolls know today as Decoration Day because they all “live”prior to 1950 when the name was changed.
Sadly, there will be no parade, no memorial service down at the old cemetery where Civil War vets and other military are buried, and no fly-over for the second year.
Btw, what happened to May? Did someone steal it?

  12. Congrats to the winner! 🙂 I can’t feel too bad, I won a t-shirt for my big Stella yesterday. 🙂 Happy Memorial Day to all the brave men and women and their families! Thank you!

  13. Anne Coldron in New Zealand

I hope you all had a good day for Memorial Day. Congratulations Jeanne on you wonderful auction. Stella is really earning her place on your dolly shelf.
Congratulations on winning the draw Elaine I am sure your doll will be very happy to have such a gorgeous slip.
After 6 months of virtually no rain for 6 months it all came at once this weekend. Because the ground was so dry it was hard for the rain to drain and there was heavy rain in the high country so the rivers were overloaded and there has been massive flooding. My older son lives by one of the two rivers in Christchurch City and their road was flooded, it wasn’t going to reach his house as it is at the top of a very long, very steep driveway but they needed the 4 wheel drive to get out yesterday morning to go to work. I am fine here everything is very soggy but that’s all, the worst of the flooding is outside of the city. We have several braided rivers in Canterbury and they are all fed directly from the high country. (One of them had no water in it at all on Friday!) They have burst their banks and flooded farms and towns nearby. Fortunately it was well forecasted so people were prepared. There were a few near misses, mostly farmers trying to take care of their stock, but I haven’t heard that anyone died which is great news. It hasn’t completely stopped raining yet but supposed to be showers today then moving north. It sort of settled over Canterbury for the three days!
Take care everyone, enjoy summer. First day of winter here!

Dear Sofa Sisters, Thank you all so much for your congrats. I feel all your love so much through my computer. It has uplifted me so much this morning. Jeanne, I think I would like to have Slip #15 for my American Girl doll. I love the lacey waist elastic and the dots and a few stars. Thank you so much Jeanne, I am so thrilled to have one of your creations.
