Emmie, my Effner Little Darling, LOVES to model dresses…

DON’T FORGET:
The Strawberry and Turtle set, (Turtle in my Pocket) for 6 1/2″ Twinkles (My Meadows dolls), ends Saturday evening… I hope you’ll take a peek at it, either by clicking on the picture at the right side bar or by clicking HERE.

We took SO many pictures tonight it was crazy… I was playing around with my lighting, setting it higher so it shown down above Emmie and made her less dark. My closer pictures turned out the best, but when I stepped back just a foot or so something happened and the dress kind of went dark. Oh well, this is the best I could do. I AM hoping for some sunshine tomorrow, so I can take at least a few outside pictures, but it’s supposed to be cloudy and a 60% chance of rain and 18 mph winds… but Emmie and I are hoping for the best and maybe, just maybe, a few of them will turn out. Now let’s just hope we can find a dry spot in the yard somewhere! :o)

Yippee! I am ALL finished with Emmie’s dress and have pictures to prove it. I looked through my hat braid and wondered if I could possibly make her a bonnet, but my blue was a bit too baby blue and too light, and didn’t go at all. I didn’t have any white white and the navy was too dark… SO we went with the next best thing… a pretty hair bow… I attached it to a band which snaps behind her neck… She likes it and didn’t want me to do anything to her hair, but just comb it.

Let me show you…

I did like the looks of her brunette hair against the white of the dress…

We also found a teddy bear, Bingham is his name. A few years ago I bought a dozen of these reproduction mohair bears and I only have one left, a cream colored one. The one Emmie picked is a blue toned bear. He is brand new but looks vintage…

Well, I hope you enjoy these pictures. I was going to show something really sweet from Anne, but I ran out of time getting her pictures downloaded, so I’m saving that for Monday, probably. I’m hoping I can get Emmie’s dress listed Saturday night, but no promises…

See you Monday,
Have a wonderful weekend,
Blessings, Jeanne

Emmie looks just wonderful in her pretty outfit! I love the bow on a headband, and having it snap at the neck makes it much easier to get on/off than using a stretchy band! Looks like she’s pretty fond of little Bingham Bear, also!!

I see that Navi’s outfit has a bid so you will have to break that news to her! She might have to choose another turtle or frog to play with after you send Timmy to his new owner. 😉

    1. Hi Charlotte,
      Thank you so much…
Emmie likes Bingham so much, I realized I haven’t taken very many pictures of her without him!
Just a few more hours and we’ll see who gets a new little turtle!!
      Thanks Charlotte,
      Blessings, Jeanne

    1. Hi Julia,
Emmie is ready and “I” am ready for Spring!!
      Thanks so much
      Blessings, Jeanne

  2. Perfect! Sorry to hear you’re down to your last 🐻 bear. I’m sure now that the word is out, someone will find some more. Or you’ll find a great deal on line. The bears are just great with the outfits. Thanks for sharing.

    1. Hi Susette,
I have enjoyed all the bears…I’ll have to look for pictures of my other ones…
      Thanks so much,
      Blessings, Jeanne

  3. Emmie’s dress is a lovely promise of blue skies and white clouds on this tiresomely gray day as we continue waiting for this promised/threatened snow. The nephew flying from North Carolina to Colorado may yet make it before snowfall.

I agree with Charlotte that the bow works perfectly with this out, which will show off beautifully in outdoor photos if the weather will just cooperate. Good luck.

    1. I got my Liberty of London fabric from Etsy. I have looked at the Liberty of London website, but when I compared the two, the color of the fabrics looks better on Etsy actually.

    2. Hi Marilyn,
It’s funny you mentioned Promuse of Blue Skies….one of the last dresses I made Emmie was called Under Blue Skies… maybe I’ll use your new name….if I can fit it on the title line on Ebay…
It stopped raining long enough for me to get a few pictures outside, ut there was not a hint of the sun, so they are a bit on the drab side, but still it’s nice to see the natural light outdoors.

Thanks for your links to the Liberty fabrics…
      Blessings. Jeanne

  4. Every girl needs a bear, and Emmie is no exception. She is perfectly demure in her lovely lawn print dress and ready for some springtime activities like tea parties, picnics with her friends, and Easter egg hunts.
Yes, around here we will finally escape the purple tier tomorrow, and things will be opening up once again including small group gatherings with vaccinated friends. Yay.
    Have a wonderful weekend.

    1. Hi Joy
This dress would be perfect for just about anything as it really isn’t seasonsonal.
Yay…the purple is going away…I bet you are so excited…
      Thanks Joy
      Blessings, Jeanne

  5. Emmie is such a beautiful doll and she looks exquisite in her lovely ensemble. Ready for any event this spring. I have been dressing all my girls for Easter. Mostly I’m trying to find out which ones still need Easter frocks. Today I will be dressing my two Bonekas, Charlotte and Mary-Ellen. They will be wearing their Jeanne Marie creations of nearly matching dresses. They are over the moon.

    1. Hi Barbara,
I think Emmie is a very pretty doll. I’m so glad I have her…
Oh, send pics when you get them dressed…
      Thank you Barbara,
      Blessings, Jeanne

  6. Emmie’s outfit is ready to go. The outfit is lovely. Her headband with the bow is a perfect compliment. And the little bear accessory matches so well. He’s so cute.
I like Marilyn’s description of Emmie’s ensemble, “promise of blue skies and white clouds.”

    1. Thank you Paula,
I think I might just have to call this Promise of Blue Skies…if only I had some blue skies to show in my pictures…
      Thanks for your compliments, Paula.
      Blessings, Jeanne

  7. I love Emmie’s little hairbow. That was always the style I choose for my daughter’s Easter dresses if she didn’t have a hat. A bow in the same fabric of the dress really pulls it together. There were a few years that I made her hair wreaths of silk flowers and ribbons to match the dresses my mom made. She made the dresses and I did the extra embellishing to them or the accessories. At least a doll can wear it forever.
The little blue tinged bear is perfect with her gorgeous dress. Maybe you’ll find some more.
Love Marilyn’s description of “promise of blue skies and white clouds”also.
That is actually what the sky is here, although a tad colder than the 60s we were spoiled with the past few days.
Congratulations, if you get it listed you will have a new one all ready to go as the last one sells. Navi will need one of the other turtles to keep her company.

    1. Hi Laura,
I like hairbows on bands too! Glad you like it!!!
Bingham was good choice for this dress…kind of old fashioned for this print.
I’m not going to get it listed tonight…we left on a road trip to Kentucky to look at a car for Rebecca. We are on our way home but it won’t get listed tonight…
Navi’s set ends soon and I might be watching it on my phone…
      Thanks so much
      Blessings, Jeanne

Dear Jeanne, Emmie’s outfit came out just perfectly. I am sure she will feel sad to have to give it up.

    Only 48 days until May!

    1. Dorothy you are too funny. Sadly all May means to me living here is that I have to mow the lawn more often. But I have a new zero-turn mower with a wider deck to do it so at least I’ll get finished in half the time with less breakdowns. Got to look for the positives where we can find them.

    2. Hi Dorothy,
      Thanks so much!!
48 days till May and fewer than that till Spring!! Yippee!!
      Blessings, Jeanne

  9. I really love this little dress!
The color and print are very pretty!
I like darling in the dark hair.

    1. Thank you Marla,
I’m glad you like Emmie’s dress set. She does look pretty in that brunette wig, doesn’t she?
      Thank you do much
      Blessings, Jeanne

I meant to comment last night about Linda D.’s comment from the night before, about girls in their underwear/petticoats and thinking about a Degas painting.

I can think of one other scene: In “Seven Brides for Seven Brothers”, when the six girls (who have been kidnapped and brought up to the Pontipee brothers’ cabin in the mountains, in the middle of avalanche season, and are stuck there until the pass opens), there is a scene where the girls are wearing pantaloons and camisoles in a bedroom they share (the brothers having been relegated to the barn “like the rest of the animals”) and dreaming about being married in June. You can see it here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8TycmYnJBqU No petticoats (those Do remind me of a Degas painting!), but a cute number anyway!

    1. HI Charlotte,
Oh, I just love that movie… and had to take a peek at your video… did you see those cinched in waists on those girls??? Oh my goodness…
A bedroom scene would be fun, but probably on my dreams! :o)
      Thanks for the link…

  11. Sandra M Lyons

Friday it got into the 60’s so I opened a few windows a tad and didn’t shut them before I went to bed. Woke up to a freezing house and high wind in the house. What a change. Short sleeves one day and winter coat the next. It’s is sunny today but not warm which is fine with me because I do not like summer at all.

Her dress turned out adorable and that pattern you use is so versatile. You can change it up so many different ways. I love the hair band just what a girly needs and her bear is perfect. I love that he is blue. I am sure it will sell quickly.

    Have a great weekend.

    1. HI Sandra,
We seem to have returned to cooler weather around here too! It was chilly today and I wore a sweater to church this morning… Someone came over tonight and when they left, we walked them out to their car and it was pretty nippy out there.

Thanks for the compliments on Emmie’s dress.. .yes, one pattern and one million ways to make it! :o) I just listed it this evening and hope you are right… maybe someone can use it for an Easter dress for starters!
      Thanks Sandra,
      Blessings, Jeanne
