Dianna Effner’s Emily, in pink and Ruby Red Fashion Friends Sara, in purple…

If you missed it, Emily seemed to be a big hit… I had a record number of hits… it was pretty amazing to see the numbers going higher and higher throughout the last day… and then it was over… Emily has found her forever home…

…and she’ll arrive with a new forever dress from me… I think she likes it.. and she wants to wear it in the box on the way to her new home. I’ll have to see if the winner wants that or not…

Anyway, here is what I came up with… old fashioned but a bit different than her green and cream striped dress with the big square collar.

Her dress has a ruffled lace collar and puffy sleeves with wide cuffs… I added some pearls on the cuffs but didn’t take a close up picture of them… if you look, you can see them…

I used a pinky peach rayon ribbon I had for the ribbon on the front and added a little white flower at the neckline.

My pictures are pretty much all the same… just different angles…

I hope the winner loves her!

I also managed to get Sara’s purple coat set listed on Ebay Saturday night… If you missed it, I took some pictures outside and hope you’ll take a peek at the listing…

Here’s one of those pictures… You can click HERE or click on her picture at the top right side bar to see the listing…

I’ll have to see what’s up next for tomorrow!

See you then,
Blessings, Jeanne

Congratulations on the Very successful auction for Emily!! Record hits And a nice selling price–win-win!!

Her new dress is beautiful, and she looks so pretty in it. I love that lace collar–it’s just the perfect accent for the lovely fabric.

I see Sara’s outfit has four bids already–Yay!! Some little dolly is going to be thrilled. (You might have to distract Sara when you go to pack up and mail the outfit, though….it looks like she really loves it!)

Yesterday I didn’t do any sewing type things at all (unless you count darning a sock!) as I was at church for a couple of hours, practicing my music, and then had other things to do at home. However, today I watched an old video that had been a freebie years ago for renewing a subscription to the now defunct Sew Beautiful magazine. It was fun to watch Martha Pullen introduce some of the techniques, etc. that she used to teach on her sewing program years ago. Then this evening, I started working on the top I cut out on Thursday; I got the neckband constructed and pinned in place, ready to stitch onto the top.

    1. Thanks Charlotte,
I hope the winner likes her dress as much as Emily does!
Sara loves her dress and coat set too… I distracted her by getting out of her dress and trying on boots for me! Smart cookie I am!
      Thanks so much,
      Blessings, Jeanne

  2. Emily is completely adorable in that new dress, Jeanne! She looks brand new! It turned out beautifully and I like the way you used that gorgeous lace to make it one of a kind! I cannot believe the price she sold for, wow! Somebody is going to be very hapy with her!

Sara looks so good in her pictures, and I see you took advantage of the nice weather Saturday, or was it Friday? Then, yesterday happened, what a bummer with all the rain!
That purse is just darling and exactly what she needs to out “bummin” like my grandmother used to say!

    1. HI Linda,
Thanks for your compliments on Emily’s dress. I think she looks pretty sweet in it too…
Yes, wasn’t the weather wonderful Saturday…that’s when I took the pictures… and yes, then yesterday was a total disaster… it poured here…
      Thanks so much,
      Blessings, Jeanne

  3. Linda, my mom would say she was out bummin around! No plans, see what happens and go with the flow. Good memories. 😊♥️

That pink floral fabric made a fabulous dress in your hands, Jeanne! Emily has the beginnings of a wardrobe.

    1. Ha, ha, Julia, I got a kick out of your memories! So fun to hear of the sillier things we remember!

    2. HI Julia,
My mom always said “bumming” around too… she loved doing it!
I’m glad you liked Emily’s dress. Another one for the books in that pink fabric!
      Thanks so much,
      Blessings, Jeanne

  4. Congrats on Emily, and it was so nice of you to include another outfit for her. The new owner can have a change in seasons for her. Fun. 🙂
I love Sara’s photo by the tree. The bark and natural lighting are wonderful. You have gotten a lot done. I wonder how selling undies, like a slip/panties/bralette set for Sara might work? If not on EB, maybe your Etsy shop? Just a thought. With exposure on the FB groups, your Etsy shop would sell out I’m sure. 🙂
Grand loved the Ginny wardrobes as did her mother. Fond memories for us seeing the things made by my mother as well as my grandmother.
Hope everyone had a nice weekend.

    1. Did you find the Ginny Doll Creations site I mentioned? I just bought Ginny and Shirley some St. Patrick’s Day dresses and am now awaiting the Easter frocks. Your granddaughter’s name is Landry. Very pretty.

      1. I did not find the site. I tried, but the name did not come up. Maybe I did something wrong or the spacing? Can you give it to me again? Tks. I would love to get a few newer things to add to the collection. 🙂

      2. I tried again and this time, I found it. Ended up getting a St. Patrick’s dress too. Thanks.

    2. HI Joy,
I HAD been thinking of making some slips for the RRFF dolls… I don’t see very many selling those… and your idea of a bralette and maybe some panties would be a perfect little set… hmmm…
I hope you enjoy seeing tomorrow’s post… sweet pictures!
      Blessings, Jeanne

  5. What a sweet little pink dress for Emily. She looks adorable in it. And what a great price! I notice she has the ballet arms like the Little Darlings do. They look very realistic in dance positions. I’m thinking of doing a “dance recital” photo shoot at some point. I have some bought costumes and some I need to make before I can do that. And then there’s building the stage. The dolly girls are really excited about the prospect and say they will be glad to help all they can. Scary thought…

Bids already on Sara’s outfit. I was pretty sure things would go well selling custom-made clothes for the Fashion Friends dolls. Someone came up with a magical combination on those dolls. A Dianna Effner sculpt for a nice-sized doll at an amazing price – not to mention they come quickly. I’m still waiting to hear from Magalie that she’s ready to paint my Greer Adele. The Fashion Friends dolls allow me to calm my dolly fever while I’m waiting. Hanna finally!!! picked out the fabric for her Easter dress. After several tries and both of us not totally satisfied with our choice and continually revisiting the drawing board, we found something we both agreed on that didn’t look too dainty but looked refreshingly spring. Can’t wait to get started on it.

    1. HI Barbara,
Emily does have those ballet arms but hers are a bit stiff, and you really have to work at getting them to bend even a little bit…
Oooooo… a ballet recital… and a fancy stage. I bet your girls won’t let you off the hook for this idea! :o)
My hubby really likes the RRFF dolls because of their smiles… he says they look happy!
I don’t think I thought that much about it before, but now I have been….
I’m so glad I saw Sara when Donnell brought her to my house when she dropped off Poppy. I probably wouldn’t have gotten her if I hadn’t see her in person…
      Thanks Barbara,
      Blessings, Jeanne

  6. Congratulations on a nice auction. You got a good price and the buyer got a bargain — a lovely, clean doll with a beautiful second dress. I saw another Emily for $250 and, of course, no pink dress.
Your auction pictures are such a nice line-up — one great outfit after another, and you are getting so many finished. If we can just get the pandemic under control, you’ll be ready for a nice vacation.

    1. Thank you Marilyn,
Maybe the idea of a new dress pushed the bidder into higher bidding… I hope she likes the dress…
No vacation just yet… I’ve got more dresses to make… but maybe later… :o)
      Thanks Marilyn,
      Blessings, Jeanne

  7. What a great sale on Emily, Jeanne. The pink print dress for Emily is really pretty with her complexion. The collar is quite unique. I’m sure her new owner will be thrilled with her.
Sara will have to say goodbye to her lovely outfit but maybe if she knows she’ll be modeling more outfits, she’ll be quite content.

    1. Thank you Paula,
I was stunned to see Emily go that high… I wasn’t expecting that at all! Thanks for your nice comments about her pink dress. I’m telling you, that pink fabric is wonderful for just about any doll or any era or any size!
Sara has already gotten undressed so we have managed that hurdle…
      Thanks Paula,
      Blessings, Jeanne

  8. Whoo Hoo for Emily! amazing how things go up and down price wise. Before Dianna’s death you could hardly give them away. S0 many talented artists get more attention after they pass 🙁 the pink floral dress is super cute on her.
Have fun deciding on your next project!

    1. HI Kathie,
I hope no one thought I was trying to cabbage in on Dianna’s death by selling that doll. I only found her a month ago and was just waiting to find time to make her a dress before I listed her… I’m glad you liked her pink dress…
I’m still debating on who to sew for next…
      Thanks Kathie,
      Blessings, Jeanne

  9. You could make a good living as a picker, Jeanne. They show up very early at garage sales here and buy the good stuff. I should think about selling on eBay as I have so much “stuff “ that no one is going to want when I “can’t take care of it anymore.” I have the box and papers with my Emily doll but no eBay account. I don’t have any others dolls of that style.

The orchids are in bloom on the patio ten miles back from the ocean in Southern California and the trees are recovering from being pollarded as they are every year. There’s still snow visible on the mountains 70 miles inland. Strong winds over the weekend but beautifully clear skies.

    1. HI Susette,
“Jeanne, the Picker!” I’m not sure I can live up to that name… I seldom find anything like that doll and have it sell for the price it did…that’s probably a once in a lifetime thing…
I HAVE lots of stuff I want to sell too… bit by bit I guess I’ll let it go… but it sure does take time…
Oh, it sounds so pretty there, Susette… like a dream!
      Blessings, Jeanne

  10. Emily is beautiful in a pink dress. I think the auction winner made a good deal. Greetings.

    1. Thank you Alina,
I hope you are right about the winner of the doll and her new dress…
      Blessings, Jeanne

  11. Carole Hopkins

Hi Jeanne I love the pink dress you made for Emily. She looks so cute and dainty in it. She is such a lucky doll to have a pretty new outfit and a loving new home. Congrats! I also wanted to say “thank you” as your tutorial and help was a big success for Samantha. She looks wonderful standing on her own and I now feel confident about restringing a couple of my other AG dolls. Thank you so much.

    1. HI Carole,
Oh yay… I’m so glad you got Samantha upright on her own now… it’s just hard to get started, isn’t it? It’s not so bad to do, is it?
Thanks for your compliments on Emily’s dress… I think she looks so pretty in the pink…
      Blessings, Jeanne
