A few more “Girls in Green” to be seen…

It’s a good thing I have a few ladies pictures to share because my day was full from sun up to sun down… I was working on a jacket for a friend… he’s a policeman and needed new reflective iron on letters on the back of his jacket… this is what I was working on… I told my girls they better behave… they were very good!

Then I was working on a Maid of Honor dress for a friend… she is a bit on the petite side, so I needed to hem it quite a bit… I need to get this finished because the wedding is in April.

One of the burner elements on our stove seems to have gone haywire, so I was helping my hubby with a little bit of electrical troubleshooting…

Next we had a guy drop by to talk to us about our roof… he was here for a little while and after he left we wanted to check out his work so we spent some time on the computer looking at his “credentials!”

Then we went to dinner with a couple of our friends and celebrated my hubby’s birthday “again!” This time the “Italians” did the cooking! It was so good and the conversation was even better… we hadn’t noticed, but we looked around and realized we were the only ones in the restaurant. We when asked what time they closed, they said, 8:00… yikes… it was 8:15, so we hurried up to get out of there. Time flies when you are having fun… :o)

Barbara sent me an email and said…
“Some of my girls saw the St. Patrick’s Day pictures today and wanted in on the action. I told them that ship may have sailed, but they asked me to try anyway. Betsy and Jacquie’s dresses were created by Jo Flitton of Jo’s Doll Shoppe and Ginny and Shirley are dressed in frocks created by Ginny Creations. Can’t take credit for any of these. Maybe next year.”

Thanks Barbara… It’s NEVER too late to share doll dresses around here… They look so sweet all dressed in their green…

And Marilyn sent me these dress pictures last week.. I was thinking I had already shown them on here, but I think I just answered her and didn’t get them put on here… I surely don’t want her girls to be pouting that they didn’t get their time on the blog, so here they are… all as pretty as can be in their green attire! Thanks Marilyn, and sorry I forgot them till just now…

Well, I’m calling it a day! I hope tomorrow isn’t quite so busy…

See you tomorrow,
Blessings, Jeanne

Wow, you Did have a busy day, Jeanne!! No moss growing on you today!!

Barbara and Marilyn, thanks so much for sharing pictures of your girls. I always enjoy seeing how others dress and display their dolls. I was a bad dolly mama, and didn’t change my kids’ clothes to green outfits. It’s okay, though–I’m not even the teeniest bit Irish!!

    1. HI Charlotte,
Yes, my day was busy and today is proving to be the same… oh dear… maybe I should stop sewing! Nope!
I’m glad you enjoyed the pictures of the girls in green. I did too!
      Thanks Charlotte,
      Blessings, Jeanne

  2. Yes, what a busy day for you, Jeanne! One thing after another, and everything is a bit different! You have no need for those crossword puzzles to keep your mind sharp!

Barbara, your dolls look so cute, I have several dolls that size, and can’t imagine changing their clothes! They just stand there looking pretty, and are now wondering why they don’t have St. Patrick’s Day dresses, a harp and fireplace!

Marilyn’s dolls look just perfect in their green outfits! So much detail and cute hairstyles on all three! Each dress has somethng I love about it. The first is the beautiful floral pattern, the second is the the black and green shamrock pattern with a contrasting, crisp white apron, and the third is the smocking. All three are a winner in my book!

I hope you get to look at your “own” business, today Jeanne!

Thanks for sharing, Barbara and Marilyn!

    1. HI Linda,
      Oh… to sit down a do a crossword puzzle… I love them!
I loved that little harp too… what a neat prop!
I like seeing the dolls in groupings like both Barbara and Marilyn did… sisterhood I think!

Well, so far my own business has been errands… but I’m hoping for some sewing time this evening…
      Blessings, Jeanne

    1. HI Julia,
Yes, a busy bee I am!
I’m glad you enjoyed seeing the dolls in their green dresses. They were cute as can be!
      Blessings, Jeanne

  3. Sorry to hear about the stove. Appliances do not last like they used to. I presume that the warranty is up? Most of them seem to have it timed to fizzle right after that time. Ours had a blow up right after the warranty (crossed wires during construction) but because of the cost, it was worth it to have the repair done. Blew out a lot of stuff. The new appliances with their computers etc. are very complicated, but guess George can work with those. Hope it can be fixed.
Also glad to hear that you’re checking on the roofing person. Definitely want someone with a contractors license and insurance to protect you should their be an accident. Can’t wait for you to have a new roof.
Barbara’s little ones are so sweet. I always wanted one of the Heartstrings, but for some reason didn’t pick one up. Now that they aren’t being made, they are going for way over my price range. The St. Paddy’s Day dresses are adorable. After Barbara mentioned Ginny Creations, I too picked up a dress. Sent it to grand to add to the collection. She loved it and found a cute green felt hat to complete the ensemble. 🙂 Thanks Barbara.
Such cuties that live at Marilyn’s house. Very sweet outfits too. That white pinafore is lovely.
I think Jeanne needs a vacation. Or maybe just more hours added to a day. Hope she finds some “me” time in there soon. 🙂

    1. HI Joy,
Actually we bought an extended warranty on the stove and it’s good till March 2022… so we were saved… the part was $56 and my hubby got it ordered today… An appliance store could come and put it in, but my hubby knows the guy who is ordering it and said he’d just give it to my hubby to put in himself… yay!
The roofing guy from yesterday hasn’t called us back for his quote… I’m ready to hear what he has to say…
I liked seeing all the green dresses today and as the days are quickly passing, Easter is getting closer and closer to coming and going… What has happened to my time schedule? I think I’m going to have to start on Christmas dresses in July and Easter dresses in December… maybe I’d get some listed that way…

A vacation? What’s that? I just would like to pull the blinds for a few days and pretend I’m not at home! :o)
      Thanks Joy,
      blessings, Jeanne

  4. Carole Hopkins

Jeanne Such cute dresses. Love all the different dolls in their green attire. Thanks for sharing, enjoyed it. I had never seen a heartstring doll before , they are cute. Carole

    1. Carole, the Heartstring dolls are a Dianna Effner sculpt. I have three of them and really wish they were still being made. Back when Jo was feeling well there was a “group” dedicated to them where people would post pictures of the dolls in all sorts of places doing all sorts of things. And Jo would have an exhibit at the Florida IDEX each year and then you could order those dolls. It was a lot of fun to be involved. Once Jo could not do this anymore the group just disintegrated. I’ve been in contact with a couple of the people formerly involved but they’ve moved on to other things and seem to have little interest in them now. Awhile back Jo thought she had found someone to buy the business and I had hope of them being made again, but that fell through.

    2. HI Carole,
I’m glad you enjoyed seeing the dolls dressed up for St. Patrick’s day… They all were adorable to me… I am glad a few of the ladies on here celebrated St. Patrick’s Day in style!
I’ve never seen a Heartstring doll in person, so I’m unfamiliar with them too…
      Blessings, Jeanne

  5. Jeanne, you are one busy lady! You are blessed with the energy and know how to get things done. You never cease to amaze me.
Barbara and Marilyn, it’s wonderful to see your girls all dressed up for St. Patrick’s Day. All the green prints are lovely. I especially like Betsy’s dress and the beautiful apron on the doll in the middle of Barbara’s three. Also the harp and grand piano are pretty neat.
    Thanks for sharing.
Glad George had some nice birthday celebrations.

    1. HI Paula,
Well, sometimes my energy level is running low so I don’t get as much done as I’d like, but I try to get as much done as I possibly can…
I loved those little props with Barbara’s girls and that white pinafore was so adorable on Marilyn’s girls… Pretty dresses never go out of style to me!
      Blessings, Jeanne

  6. A busy day for you for sure, Jeanne and lots of different jobs. The word is out that you are the one to ask for repairs and alterations, LOL
I hope you can get you stove and roof fixed soon. I seems when something goes wrong with one thing, there’s soon something wrong with another. This has been a week of car issues around here. One car had a dead battery and the other had the brakes go out without any warning while driving into a parking lot.
Oh, I’m so glad you shared your little girls, Barbara. They are all so cute. I really like the redhead getting ready to play her Irish harp. Now that’s an instrument I’d love to see in AG size.
Marilyn’s little cuties are quite the picture as well dressed in their St. Pat’s and spring finery.
Certainly looks cheerful on this dreary grey skies and rain day here. Thank you Barbara and Marilyn for sharing them.

    1. The redhead is a Heartstring doll named Jacquie (formerly named Jackie by Jo Flitton now spelled differently to honor a lovely lady friend who has passed on). So sorry to hear about your car issues, especially the surprise of having no brakes. Scary!

    2. HI Laura,
I DO get a lot of calls and emails about various things… craft places, props, sewing questions, comparison of dolls sizes, fabric questions, and more… then there are always alterations that come up from time to time… I’m supposed to be “retired” from alterations, but what do you do for friends and such… just fit them in… :o)

My hubby got the stove part ordered today and when it comes in, things will be back to normal.

Car woes are the worst… and usually the most expensive of all repairs… (unless it’s a roof!)

We’ve had a terribly dreary day here today… gray and WET… all day long! I’m ready for the sun to shine! :o)
      Blessings, Jeanne

  7. Thanks for sharing the pictures. I enjoy seeing everyone’s dolls dressed for the holidays, especially when they have all the cute accessories and furniture in their vignettes. I have been so busy with work that my dolls haven’t been touched in well over a year, so it’s nice to see what everyone else is doing with theirs.

Jeanne, I do not envy you having an alterations project to do. That is one type of sewing I find to be a chore. Especially with that type of fabric. Not fun! I’m glad you had a nice meal out with friends, and I hope George had a nice birthday.

    1. HI Carolyn,
I’m glad you enjoyed the dolls in the post today… I think they were all lovely and so pretty in their green dresses! Sorry you don’t have time to tend to your dolls like you’d want… maybe some day… :o)
Alterations aren’t fun usually, but they are a necessary evil of being a seamstress… everyone knows I sew, so I’m the one they call… sometimes I HAVE to say no, but I usually try to fit someone in if there isn’t anyone else to do it…
My hubby did have a nice day and eating out with our friends was wonderful!
      Blessings, Jeanne

      1. Charlotte Trayer

I no longer sew for others, unless it’s my idea, and a gift! I just didn’t enjoy it. And the only alterations I’ll do are for hubby and me, no others.

When someone asks me if I could consider doing some sewing (or alterations) for me, I usually just smile and say, “You couldn’t afford me!” LOL

  8. What fun to see all the dolls we know are there but rarely see from Barbara and Marilyn. Thanks for sending along the St. Patrick’s Day pictures. I think my favorite might be the little redhead with the shamrocks and the beautiful pinafore. Harp, wow!

You wouldn’t want to slow down, Jeanne. It might scare you, ha, ha. Glad you and George had such good times.

    1. HI Susette,
I think Marilyn’s redhead is Samantha… She was one of Dianna’s first painted dolls, I think…
She is a cutie and looks great in that green!
Some days I’d like to have a slow one… they are few and far between… but somehow I manage to make it through each day… I have just the same amount of hours as you do…
Times of refreshing come like being with our friends… we did enjoy ourselves and caught up on things…
      Thanks Susette,
      Blessings, Jeanne

  9. St Pat’s Day was always celebrated because my mother was so Irish ☘️. My dad was German..and my hubby is the same mix just the other way. He always thinks of himself as German and I always think of the Irish…so I think it depends on what nationality your mother is!🤔🤗 Moms always share their stories 😉
Barbara your little ones look like a kindergarten class. Same size but so different. I just sold my Heartline doll so was fun to see yours. Super cute dresses too!
Marilyn…your Little Darlings look adorable. What beautiful prints in the dresses. Your black print with the shamrocks is awesome…the apron just makes it too. The red curly wig just tops off her total Irish look.
Jeanne your sewing skills get you all kinds of assignments🥴

    1. HI Kathie,
I didn’t do very well on getting my dolls assigned green dresses this year… maybe next year… I think I’ve said that before… but I keep trying…
I knew everyone would enjoy seeing the little girls in their green dresses. What pretty pictures we all got to see today… I’m glad you liked them…
Yes, my sewing skills keep me busy… but not as busy as I’d like to be… (in my sewing room, working on dolly things!) :o)
      Thanks Kathie,
      Blessings, Jeanne

  10. It was great to see the pictures, love seeing what other people are doing. You really are one very busy lady. Glad you had some time out with your friends anyway. I had my roof done two years ago. It looks great now but made a big hole in the bank account.
Marilyn, I had some of the fabric in the little smocked dress. It always surprises me when I see fabric I have used, somewhere miles away but I don’t know why it should. We import all our fabric, or nearly all and especially cotton, that it isn’t surprising when it shows up somewhere else. All the girls dresses are lovely though.
If there are rules about celebrating St Patrick’s Day only if you have Irish in your genealogy then I don’t qualify, I am English on my mothers side and German on my biological fathers side. Interestingly, although he was born in US he spoke only German at home but still served in the US Army during the war (which is how he got involved with my mother and another woman in the same town). I guess his language skills came in handy sometimes! Anyway, I go to the community lunch at Delta today and they are celebrating St Patrick’s Day with dress up. Unfortunately I have very little green in my wardrobe. I do have an emerald green leather coat but it isn’t cold enough for it so I think my green top hat and boa will have to do!

    1. HI Anne,
I’m a bit concerned about our bank account too.. .our roof has so many different pitches and it has soft spots and a flat section… I am ready to see what this guy has to say about it…

I always notice fabrics I’ve had before too.. I guess us seamstresses just have an eye and can spot it right away… The girls all looked wonderful, didn’t they?

Well, I hope you had fun at your lunch in your green top hat and boa today! :o)
      Thanks Anne,
      Blessings, Jeanne

  11. Wow is Betsy in a snit today. All my girls are supportive of each others talents and there are many among them, and Betsy was okay with watching Jacquie perform on the harp, but when she heard the comments about Jacquie and the harp, she wants it to be known that she is the one who plays the baby grand and very well she might add. Actually she’s the only one who can actually bend her legs to sit on the bench. I told her I would have all the ones who play instruments do a concert for the sofa sisters sometime soon. She’s smiling now.

Marilyn all your young ladies look so sweet in their beautiful St. Patrick’s Day finery. I love them all but the sweet little pinafore on top of the shamrock dress is exquisite.

Jeanne, I have too many days like yours. I wake up in the morning planning one thing and it’s the thing I never get to that day. Oh how I dislike doing anything to a premade clothing item. But I guess that’s some of your expertise so kind of expected. Hope you get your stove fixed. As for your roof, I can totally relate to the frustration there. We are going to see if we can get a home improvement loan to fix ours. The roofline is so that the boys can do the job so that should cut out some of the cost even though we will pay them for doing it. And we’re going to add the new driveway to that. Then there’s the addition we want to add to the back so I can get my washer, dryer and freezer out of the garage and add another bathroom… Always something but we do have the manpower and experience to do the job. Our property is paid for and I hate having to do it that way but the property we are trying to sell in Kansas is not selling quickly and we need to do something soon.

    1. HI Barbara,
It’s not a good day when your girls get in an argument! I hope they settled it amongst themselves… Your picture was very cute… one of those you have to zoom in on and see all the details…
I got online and read some reviews about the guys business that stopped by yesterday. They’ve only had ONE negative comment in 3 years… and it was because ALL of the scraps weren’t picked up to this person’s liking.. .I told my hubby, if it would knock off some of the price of the roof, I’d be HAPPY to pick up ALL the scraps from their job! My hubby smiled!
      Thanks Barbara,
      Blessings, Jeanne

  12. Laura, I have to say that having brakes go out while driving is not one of my favorite experiences. I was on a NJ traffic circle, but fortunately it was not rush hour and there was a service station on the other side. I’m glad you were in a safe place.
Anne, how funny to see the same fabric. I’ll tell Janeane, the sister who is dressing my LD’s.
Jeanne, there must be something neither you nor George can do, but we haven’t found it.

I wrote earlier, but the blog timed out while I was waiting for my mail to post. I think it’s my computer, but has anyone else had that problem?

    1. HI Marilyn,
Oh you are too funny… I’m sure there are things we can’t do… we just seem to be doing ALL the things we CAN do… my hubby does NOT like doing drywall, but he has done it before… he just doesn’t like it… I did get a pretty good hubby though… there really isn’t much he won’t tackle or at least try to fix or do…
      There are lots of things I can’t do… I just haven’t found them yet… I didn’t think I could paint a whole kitchen but turns out, I can… I’m still working at it…
I WILL say, I’m not very good at decorating… not like Cindy and Deb… they are my standard…
Thanks for your pictures Marilyn, your dolls were lovely!
      Blessings, Jeanne
