My Tuesday To Do list…

I had several things I was working on Tuesday and I decided to make a post out of it…

A big thank you to the winner of Addy’s Civil War dress…it was VERY exciting at the end as the watchers kept adding up almost in a frenzy like fashion. Tuesday morning when Cindy and Deb left, the hits (or views) on Addy’s dress were at 410. That’s a really nice number… 410 people had looked at Addy’s dress since I had posted it 4 1/2 days ago. I texted Cindy and Deb about 10 minutes before the auction ended and told them if they weren’t doing anything, they could watch the end of my auction for “entertainment.” They both tuned in to see the last 8 minutes. I was texting them about the number of hits on the dress… and at 8:30, there were 480 hits… then at 8:33 there were 502 hits… so I kept watching the hits… and it went like this… in the last 3 minutes… 516, then 530, then it jumped to 547 and then 567 and at 8:35 it jumped to 583, then in the last minute before it ended, it jumped to 596 and then ended with 668 hits! I WAS FLABBERGASTED! It might not seem like anything to you, but when you are watching it, it’s PRETTY exciting! If you missed the end, the dress went for $103.50!

The winner was from my blog and when I asked her what she might like to go with her dress… pantalettes, a basket with fabrics for Addy to carry, flowers? The lady wanted the basket but with flowers… but I added some folded fabrics in there too… so she’ll get both…

I tried to color coordinate the fabrics to go with the black and gold dress. :o) The flowers are in a kind of bouquet shape but just down beside the fabrics.

I had to get five sets of snaps sewn to the back of Addy’s dress. I hadn’t done that yet…and that took some time…

I had to work on the pictures I plan to put in the journal that’s for Poppy’s travels… I was printing out the pictures I wanted to use and figuring out what I wanted to write. It took some time getting it all together and I’m still not done… I’m hoping to go “somewhere” in Carbondale to take her picture to show her she was in a town and not just in a sewing room… Maybe a picture at the University…
We’ll see…

Poppy wanted to have her picture taken with the American Girl dolls on this shelf… She’s pretty little isn’t she?

Then she spotted the smaller girls up on the top shelf and wanted her picture taken with them…

Wednesday will be her last day here and I truly will miss seeing her in that bright pink outfit she’ll have to travel in… I’ll have to put her pink and white polka dot tights and pink patent leather shoes back on, and put that wig she came in back on… (not looking forward to that!) I’m going to use a bigger box because the one she came in is going to be too small for the rest of the ladies who will have her and add their gift in the box…

Well, that’s it… it doesn’t seem like that should have taken me all day, but it did… Well, there was dinner and some laundry in there too.

I’ll see you tomorrow,
Blessings, Jeanne

Wow, what an exciting auction That was!! Congratulations to the winner! The basket of flowers/fabrics is just lovely. Maybe Addy is going to sewing circle, and bringing flowers to the hostess?

How fun, to get a couple more pictures of Poppy, this time with some of your dolls. She will have a lot to write about in her travel diary!!

I am almost finished with the skirt I started for myself, and then will start on the nightgown for my RRFF doll, from the pattern I modified. I’ll let you know how it turns out and fits.

  2. Oh, that badket full fabrics and flowers is just the thing Addy needed to bring with her to her new home! Lucky you, whoever you are! I’m curious if the dress the buyer bought has an Addy to wear it. I cna’t imagine another doll looking so special in it!

Oh my yes, Poppy is really small! I knew she was, but then seeing her with the AG dolls, boy, that really shows how tiny she is! I can’t imagine sewing for someone that small, but then I know there is Navi and Ten Ping.

Today should be a good one to get outside since it will be going up to almost 50 and will be sunny, at least here! Can’t wait to see what Navi thinks of Carbondale! Is Cool Spoons open? Poppy might like to see THAT!

  3. That must have been an exciting auction, but of course, that was a special dress. I’m not surprised it generated so much interest. The basket of flowers is a cute addition. Poppy has been with you quite a few days, or so it seems. I’m sure you will be sorry to send her on. I wonder what you will find for her to do in town?

  4. Congrats on the exciting dress sale, although, I wasn’t surprised at all of the action. The dress and hat are so special. Might make the cover of your forthcoming book. 🙂 Good job Jeanne.
I was thinking of Poppy’s local photo. Is there anything still around that tells of the history of Carbondale? Must have been mining? Do you have a Carnegie library? Or the oldest home in Carbondale? Those would be interesting to me. 🙂
I need to put in a last shoe order at Monique. Don’t know what I’ll do without them. 🙁

    1. I forgot to add, providing a larger box for Poppy is such a great idea. I suppose that I could have done the same but unfortunately did not. Didn’t even cross my mind. Might be a good reminder on the Chibbi Travel site. 🙂

  5. Yes, congratulations on the exciting bidding! I don’t recall seeing the intriguing piece of lace behind the screen in her pictures. What’s its history? Lovely. Maybe a picture of your own house would be a good addition to Poppy’s treasure box.

  6. Wow! What an exciting auction! A whole lot happened within the last few minutes because I got a notice that the auction was nearly over and the amount hadn’t reached the $90s yet. I knew it would go for more than that but I never thought to check in at the last moment because I wasn’t bidding. When I have been, the last five minutes seem the most stressful of my life if I really want something. Oops! Excuse me, if the girls really want something. Pressure! I have to watch that they don’t cause me to bid against myself.

You did indeed have a busy day. I am going to miss Poppy’s sweet little self. It would be fun if the next person on the list sent a picture to the previous person saying that Poppy arrived at her new destination safe and sound and showing a picture of her new digs. You could post it. Sort of closure… lol

Are we going to see some of the contributions to Poppy’s box before she leaves?

  7. What an exciting auction for you. The dress was so special though, one of the nicest you have made and you have made some lovely ones. Looking forward to your next outfit.
We will all miss Poppy and her antics. Look forward to seeing where you take her next.
Praying that everything goes well for the inauguration today. Just going to watch it on breakfast TV

  8. Addy’s dress is certainly beautiful and the basket of flowers and material is perfect for it. That certainly was a lot of viewers. What a compliment.
I imagine you are packing or have already packed for little Poppy. I have to ask myself, why have pretty much all of gotten so attached to her and I think it’s because you made her so endearing to us. Posing her in cute situations. Hope she rests during her travel to Michigan. Keep us posted if you hear any more about her.
Well, off to the groomers and cleaners.
