Mirror Image Embroidery for Bailey’s wool felt jacket…

I agreed with several of you who thought Bailey’s platinum blonde wig was a bit too “platinum” and switched it up for a softer blonde color… This is actually a Hannah wig by Monique and is a much better color on Bailey. Her skin tone is called Honey and it needed something softer…

I also worked on my lighting… I think it was Linda who mentioned maybe if I “changed her eyes to a blue…” THEY ARE BLUE… but you just couldn’t tell.. I hope you can see them now…

We also had a little session at “Jeanne’s Beauty Salon” and made some cute little pig tails instead of braids…

I decided a couple of clip on bows would be nice…so if the winner wants to put them in their dolls hair a different way, they can…

Of course Bailey needed a slip to hold her dress out, so we had a little “undies” sewing session too…

Bailey’s dress was finished with some vintage lace around the hem and also at the waist… Then 2 tiny wine colored buttons were added in the middle where they show between her jacket…

I’m definitely no expert at mirror image embroidery but I gave it my best shot on her wool felt jacket using some silk ribbon I had… The wool felt is a pretty rosy color and not quite as bright as some of my pictures portray…

Then…as most of my dolls discuss on the Dolly Shelf, “If you get the chance to dig around in the Dolly Toy Box, DO IT!” so Bailey let me know as the dress was almost finished, she wanted to look in there…

She found Susie, a pretty look-alike mohair bear, and wanted her for her accessory…

I took EIGHTY EIGHT pictures (good grief!) of Bailey and narrowed it down to the ones I’m showing you and the ones I’ll add for my Ebay listing… I’m hoping to get that listed on Monday evening…

I think Bailey looks as sweet as she ever has and hope you do too!

See you tomorrow,
Blessings, Jeanne

Your dress and jacket turned out beautifully, Jeanne! Makes me wish I had a Meadow Dumpling doll, so I could bid on it!

I love the embroidery on the jacket–it picks up the flowers nicely, and a pretty good mirror image, I think–that’s not easy to do, as hand stitches are all so individual!!

This wig is very cute on Bailey–but I did love the braids, even though the color wasn’t as soft! I guess there has to be one hold-out, right?!

    1. Thank you Charlotte,
I’m glad you like Bailey’s dress set. It came together pretty quickly and now I hope there is time for dress #3 to be made…
Maybe one of my other dolls can wear the braids in the platinum white… :o)
      Blessings, Jeanne

  2. Just precious, Jeanne! I like her new hairstyle! I think it is “dressier” than what braids would be, but braids are cute too. This outfit needs a fancier hairstyle than braids, I think! Sorry Charlotte!

Is it me, or does it seem that the buttons on the dress are over too far to the left side? Maybe it is the way the picture was taken, but it seems like they are trailing off to the left side of the front of the bodice, which translates to the right side of what we see.

That is the sweetest picture of her sitting there with her little bear! That first photo of her and the bear alone would sell the dress in no itme!

The embroidery on the jacket is just perfect!

    1. HI Linda,
I’m glad I have “hawk eyes” here on my blog to keep me on my toes. YES, those buttons are about 1/8th of an inch to the right… I hadn’t noticed until I saw them in my pictures when I was listing it. I just mentioned in my listing that they would be fixed before the dress is sent out! Thanks for watching out for me and my dresses! :o)
I just now managed to get the dress set listed on Ebay… so now I guess I do have time for another dress… I have no idea what it will be… but Chrissa is supposed to be up… However… there may be a wrench thrown in the mix… :o) :o)
      Thanks Linda,
      Blessings, Jeanne

  3. I see what Linda means about the buttons, but in the pictures with the jacket, they appear centered, so the “too far over” look may because of the way she’s sitting.

On the wig, I’m going with Linda. The color and style are perfect for Bailey — for her coloring, for her personality, and for this dress.

The jacket is charming and the bows are perfect. Is there a My Meadow site where you can show this? I want a big audience for it.

    1. HI Marilyn,
I didn’t notice the buttons being to the right, but they are…and I’ll change them… I guess when I put her jacket on, I just centered the opening in her jacket between the buttons…

I like her in this fun little version of pigtails myself and think she’s just adorable this way… a little charmer but part mischievous imp.

I just posted it on the My Meadow Fan Club forum… with a link to the Ebay listing.. which just happened a few minutes ago…
You can see it by clicking the picture at the right side bar…
      Thanks Marilyn,
      Blessings, Jeanne

  4. Absolutely adorable! This outfit is as sweet as can be. The jacket is the perfect accessory along with the bows in Bailey’s hair. I like the two little matching buttons on her bodice. They are just enough.
The color of this wig, even though it similar, looks better. All your pictures choices show this outfit nicely.

    1. Thank you Paula,
Well, the buttons may be perfect and just enough, BUT they are off center… Glad Linda spotted it… I was just concentrating on the jacket and positioning them between the sides of the jacket and didn’t notice it…
Thanks for your sweet compliments… It’s listed on Ebay now…
      Blessings, Jeanne

  5. Congrats on finishing up the dress and getting photos. That’s a lot to complete. I’m sure Bailey will be fussing about having to release this one. Maybe you can placate her with a model’s robe until her next turn. 🙂
Heading south to get our shots today. So glad the appointment wasn’t for tomorrow as we are expecting rivers of rain, if you can believe that after all of my complaining about lack of rain. I heard that they would be getting up to 10ft of snow in the sierra. 🙂

    1. HI Joy,
YES…it IS a lot to get finished up… with all the rest of the things I have going on… *wink*

We are being flooded with rain, but we don’t need it like you guys do..
Hope your trip to get shots today was successful….
      Blessings, Jeanne

  6. Rosy pink, flowers, and embroidery. All the really good stuff! Your 2 ribbon embroidery motifs do mirror each other. They also mimic the flower on the right side of her dress bodice. That is positioned like a corsage!

    1. HI Julia,
I had to go back and look at the pictures of my dress bodice and see what you were talking about… it sure does look like a corsage…that cream flower just kind of pops out, doesn’t it?
Thanks for your kind compliments… I appreciate them!
      Blessings, Jeanne

  7. Adorable! I love that she has two fabric hairbows, two is definitely better than one!
I love the jacket embroidery and it picks up all the fabric colors perfectly.
I, like Julia, noticed her little corsage. Hope Bailey is still wearing her smile when she has to take it off.

    1. Thank you Laura,
I like to see 2 hair bows in little girls hair too… I do have to get another clip for the back of one… one is kind of gimpy and not snapping very well…
and then fix those wandering buttons…
Bailey will still be smiling when I take it off of her… it’s the “non-smilers” I have to worry about… :o)
      Thanks Laura,
      Blessings, Jeanne

  8. I like the new wig color and hairdo better too. The other was cute, but this is cuter. What a sweet little jacket and the embroidery looks perfect to me. I noticed the buttons too but seeing them with the jacket made me thing they were just right. I really love the fabric and the colors in this ensemble. I do have a Dumpling, Lolla, and she’s letting me know she could use a new fancy dress since I keep making her romper outfits. Hmm…..

    1. Thank you Barbara,
I think I just tried to center the buttons when the jacket was on and didn’t notice they were off… but they are, and they’ll be fixed…
Well, I won’t tell you to keep Lolla away from the computer… that’s YOUR job… but they do sometimes sneak and buy things don’t they? :o)
      Thanks Barbara,
      Blessings, Jeanne

  9. The outfit is lovely Jeanne. I noticed the buttons too but thought it was deliberate but they are centred between the fronts in other photos so it must have been an optical illusion. I love the colour too, I rather like pink, particularly that shade, I didn’t realise how much till I sorted my pink fabric and found I have far more of that colour than any other, it hardly fits in the shelf. I think Bailey’s wig looks much nicer I wasn’t a fan of the other one.
Joy, that seems to be a pattern these days, seems to happen here too. Long periods of drought, then the rain comes all at once causing all sorts of other problems like floods. It is supposed to be 36C here today. I’ll be out this morning but won’t go far from the air conditioning when I get home!

    1. I had to turn my A/C on here today and we’re still in January. I don’t see any “cold” weather anytime soon. I know there has to be some out there.

    2. HI Anne,
No, the buttons are definitely off center… when I get them repositioned, I’ll just have to make sure my jacket edges are between them… :o)
I like Bailey in this new wig too… it’s a synthetic mohair wig and in my opinion, the nicest kind you can buy…
It’s 36 degrees right now with a wind chill factor of 32…it’s quite cold out and tomorrow is supposed to be the same… I guess we ARE in January!
      Thanks Anne,
      Blessings, Jeanne

  10. Bailey’s dress and jacket are so sweet.l too, love that fabric…I found a few sites that handle fabric no longer being made but didn’t find anything even close. What was the manufacturer do you know?
I’m really fond of the pigtails…probably because my little girls wore them for a long time. Kept hair out of their eyes and off their neck when it was hot. Since long straight boring hair is all that seems in style anymore you see so many little girls with hair in their face and it is always so messy.
Bailey looks ready for any occasion. Your poses make her seem like she could jump off the screen😉 Best of luck with this auction! Are you going for outfit #3?

    1. HI Kathie,
I can’t believe it… you asked what the manufacturer name was and I went to my sewing room to look at the scrap I had and see if the name was on there… I happened to glance up at my sewing fabrics and there it was… ANOTHER piece of the pink floral… I had NO idea I still had another piece….YAY…
I do like Bailey with her hair this way too! She’s such a precious little girl… I can’t wait for you to get your Giggi!
Yes, I AM going for outfit #3!!!
      Blessings, Jeanne

  11. Every time you make a dress, I think, “This one is the prettiest”, but I do love this pink flowered one! So beautiful!

    1. Thank you Conni,
I’m glad you like Bailey’s dress so much… ME TOO! Now I’ve made 2 dresses in 2021 and I love BOTH of them… will she love #3 just the same??? We’ll have to wait and see! :o)
      Blessings, Jeanne

  12. Dorothy in PA and the World

Dear Jeanne, Bailey is a cutie no matter which wig she is wearing. The dress is adorable.

Now I am wondering who will get the next dress. I can’t remember if you told us. Are you drawing names from a hat or are the dolls raising their hands (laugh)?
