Merry Christmas 2020

I tried (pretty much unsuccessfully) to find a picture of a big sofa with lots of ladies on it…

..and just wanted to thank each one of you today… for all the happiness and joy and fun you share with me and everyone else each day! May the Lord, who already knows each of us by name, be a blessing to you today and throughout this next new and upcoming year. I thank Him for all the “Sofa Sisters” who join me each morning and pray you each know the love He has for you.

Merry Christmas to ALL the Sofa Sisters, near and far, young and old, and silver or brunette! :o)

Blessings to each one of you!
~ Jeanne

Oh, my, LOOK at the hair on some of those ladies!!! (laugh) That had to have been taken in the mid 60s, I think. I graduated high school in 1964, and some of the girls in my class wore their hair all teased up like that. I always felt badly that my hair was too fine to hold onto the teasing for very long, so my hair was pretty “flat”, relatively speaking! Not for lack of trying, though!!

A blessed Christmas to all my sofa sisters. May God comfort those who are grieving, heal those who are ill, and bless each one of you!

  2. Oh, the days of the “Big Hair”! We all tried, I guess, although my hair was too fine to stay up as much as I would have liked! We all were so slim and trim too! I guess we are all shapes and sizes now, and what does it matter anymore? We are all “soft sisters, and I wish all my friends on this blog a safe and Merry Christmas! May God bless each and every one of you with health and happiness in the coming year!

  3. Oh my gosh, that picture! The drinks, the ciggies, the HAIR! Thanks for the early Christmas morning chuckle Jeanne!
Merry Christmas and Happy, Happy New Year to all!

  4. Hysterical photo. Especially, the one in the middle. There were those who wore their hair like those pictured in our class, but they mostly hung out at the rail road tracks where smoking was allowed on break. Might be fun to have everyone send in a photo from an old yearbook. If you don’t have one, most are now available online. No one can escape. 🙂
    Merry Christmas everyone!

  5. Love the picture. Bouffant…fortunately, I missed that hairstyle! I was more into wanting the long straight hair.

Jeanne, your Christmas message means a lot, thank you.
I wish you and all our sofa sisters a wonderful and blessed Christmas. I’m loving the sound of Christmas music.

  6. Hilarious photo, especially the middle lady. Luckily, I was too young to have worn that hairstyle. We did have the “big hair” of the 1980’s, but I much preferred the feathered style, although you could make it pretty big with a curling iron. LOL
Wishing a Merry and blessed Christmas to all the dear friends of the club “The Sofa Sisters”.
May the Lord bless each one of you. Health and happiness in 2021 !!

    1. Forgot to mention, we did get a lovely white Christmas. It started snowing late yesterday afternoon. This morning we have 3 inches on the ground. Beautiful winter wonderland with the sun shining outside and Christmas hymns playing inside while snuggling pets. If you can’t go to church on Christmas morning, this is the next best.

  7. OMG that is a Christmas laugh! Yes, the one in the middle should be awarded “the best ratted hair of the decade”. Poor thing…it probably really hurt to brush all that out!
Hope everyone has a nice day. Our celebration is tomorrow. Have 4 tables set..one for each family and we will sit with our daughter Michelle and her family as they are here very often.
Then we have gloves to wear to dish up food. We have the good silver out but I think each person will take their own plate and silver to the kitchen. I’ll have a big sudsy bowl for silver and they can put their own dish in the dishwasher. It may just be a new way to have everyone help!
Love your little prayer Charlotte (Hugs)
Merry Christmas ladies and enjoy your family Jeanne!

  8. The higher the hair, the closer to God! 😆😆

🎄Merry Christmas! To you and yours, from me and mine! 🛋

  9. Good morning Jeanne, that photo is hilarious. I remember that hair so well. Like some others I had very fine hair (but Lots of it) that was quite hard to tease. We called it backcombing and I had no idea what that was until someone at work showed me.
Unlike for you in this difficult time we were able to go to my son’s for our family Christmas breakfast at 9.30 then at 10am had a zoom call from my sister, BIL and niece, joined by (on zoom) my nephew, his wife and daughter, then my brother joined us, they are all in UK, and then my oldest son in Melbourne. Lockdown gave us all some great skills! We would never have thought of zoom without it!
We got back home at about 12.30 and I started on dinner. My foster daughter, her partner and her mum came and Sam picked up the children and we ate at about 2.30pm. No turkey, unbelievable I know but Sam and I don’t really like turkey! Rawinia had to be back at the rest home by 3pm so they left just before that and Sam and the two oldest washed the dishes for me. By 5pm everyone had gone home and I had the house to myself again.
It is now Boxing Day for me (my sister’s birthday), I watched the news last night then read for a while and went to bed. I had the best night’s sleep for a long time. Today Sam wants to go to the Boxing Day sales as we both got gift cards for Spotlight which is probably similar to your Joanne’s. I don’t normally go out on Boxing day especially to the sales as I don’t really do crowds!
I bought a gift for Sam and myself that you might be interested in. It is a cordless glue gun with a precision nozzle called Rapid, design and quality by Isaberg Rapid in Sweden (made in China of course). I think it cost about $33NZ, not sure what that is in USD but I thought it was a pretty good price. Obviously we haven’t used it yet so I will let you know how it works. I had already bought Sam several gifts when I found it but if they have one at Spotlight on sale I might get another one as it is much easier if you have one each when you are working together.
It isn’t raining at the moment so I might try and take the dog for a walk before it starts again (heavy rain all day according to Dan the weather man last night) have a lovely day everyone

    Dear Jeanne, Merry Christmas!

Thank you for creating this wonderful family. I truly feel at home on the sofa with the sisters. This is a safe and inviting place to come to share ideas and memories.

I wish you and the sisters a creative and awe-filled 2021.

  11. Love the photo! Can relate to the styles…. and I could never get my hair to cooperate with the teased look either. Thanks Jeanne, for this warm place to “hang out on the sofa” each day. May the Lord bless each of you richly with his love this coming year.

  12. Merry Belated Christmas. My day was insanely busy and by the time family left I crawled into bed. The image is priceless especially the red head in the middle. My friends and all I wore our haired teased and now I can’t even comprehend getting up every morning before school and doing that. Now I’m lucky if I managed to get it into a pony. The only girls that didn’t wear their hair like that were the rich cheerleaders and they were our schools true snobs.
It was surely a different Christmas for all of us and am hoping by this time next year we will be back to our normal celebrations with family and friends. I only had my daughter and 4 grandchildren but I see them all the time.

Jeanne it is such a wonderful place to come to each day, read and chat and even though I am not a AG doll collector I’ve learned so much and often feel like you ladies are sitting in my living room, without teased hair of course. Blessings to each of you.
