I discovered Ten Ping LOVES to dance…

Happy Saturday everyone,
I hope you are all doing well, in spite of the restrictions and changes we are facing for this Thanksgiving holiday. We are still planning on having Jean and Bithar (from Haiti) and their family over unless one of their kids or they get sick before then…

Here is a great family picture I took of them… Grace was the baby then…BUT Bithar has had another baby… a little boy named David!

I didn’t get as much done today as I had hoped… I’m trying to clean house a little, and sew a little… besides all my other things I’m involved in…

I did, however, get a half slip made for tiny Ten Ping… she liked it very much and I found out she’s quite the little dancer!

It’s perfect for holding out her dress…which I fixed…(thank you very much!) so now there’s no more skimpiness!

Ten Ping was enjoying our photo shoot this evening… I kind of was too! :o)

Joy mentioned something about the color being an aqua so I googled Aqua Paint colors and it’s definitely in the aqua family. I hope you can see the color better now… last nights pictures were pretty crummy…

I pulled her hair up and twisted it into something like a french roll on each side… and even found some little slivers of silver snowflakes left on a sheet of stickers, so I used them as earrings… Ten Ping feels like a big shot now! :o)

I still have a couple of things I want to put with this dress. I’ll see if I can get this finished over the weekend…

See you Monday,
Blessings, Jeanne

Oh, Ten Ping’s outfit is just lovely! Yes, she is quite the little dancer, isn’t she?!

Gigi is wanting to know where you got that lovely PINK sofa!! She is so hoping Santa might bring her one for Christmas!! (my girl has expensive taste–no dolly, just furniture! LOL)

My PT is done on my knee now. I am still having some pain (probably always will until I decide to do something like a gel shot or knee replacement), but she said it is much stronger and my range of motion is better than when I started.

    1. Thanks Charlotte,
That lovely pink sofa came from a store here called Ross for Less. It’s actually a jewelry box… the seat opens up and there is a place to put your jewelry… Rebecca found it one day and thought I might like it… uh YES! :o)
I bet you’re glad the PT is over… now the recovery actually begins… I hope it gets all better ….and soon!

        Thanks, Jeanne.

I realize I forgot to say something about the wonderful picture of Jean and Bithar, and their lovely family. Nice to see them again, and maybe there’ll be a picture of the new baby next time??? (You know how we grandmas like to see baby pictures…!!)

  2. Oh yes, much better, Jeanne! I think the fullness of the skirt does a lot to make the dress cuter, and that darling slip certainly helps push it out! I’m having a hard time envisioning this dress on such a tiny doll, and I think the simpler you make it, the better it is for that size.

And that sofa! It sure does help to showcase the dress, and is such a pretty pink! Where did you find that?

Charlotte, I had a knee replacement a year and half ago, and am so glad I did. Now I’m having trouble with the other knee, so will get an injection soon for that. I will say, once you get an injection, it really helps, but then, it doesn’t last, and then you have to keep going for more. A knee replacement is really the best way to do it. Right now, the hospitals are at the breaking point for admitting people for elective surgery, so I will wait until things get better.

Oh, that darling picture! What a sweet family group, and my goodness, Bithar certainly does have her hands full now! Thak you for showing that and keeping us up to date!

    1. Hi Linda,
Yep, the dress needed to be fuller and the slip sure helps with that too! :o)
Rebecca found the sofa for me at a store here called Ross’s. You might have them in St. Louis… The sofa is actually a jewelry box… it opens up… :o)
I was walking the other day and wondering how your knee was doing, Linda… sounds like it works well now!
Yes, Bithar really does have a lot on her plate right now… at home learning… I really don’t know how she does it… and all with a new baby. Yikes! She’s a better woman than me!
      Thanks Linda,
      Blessings, Jeanne

Thanks for the encouragement, Linda. I imagine eventually I’ll have to have a knee replacement on that one–I have absolutely NO cartilage behind my kneecap! (Between the leg bones is still okay, however). I’m reluctant to do it just yet, though, because my husband is becoming quite frail and sometimes needs help with things (he’s 13 years older than I am), and I don’t know that he could take care of ME during recuperation! plus I would probably have to have a joint specially made, as I’m very small boned and very petite.

  3. The dress for Ten Ping is darling and the shoes 👞 are perfect now. They are so tiny. I think you could add the pattern for them to you Etsy website. I would buy it for sure so I could make some when mask making comes to an end, hopefully ASAP. I’ve made a dress for Valentines Day for Ten Ping and a little kimono. I think I shared pictures long ago. Maybe I’ll find them and send them again. I somehow missed yesterday’s post so I’m playing catch-up.

I had a good laugh, too, at Barbara’s story from yesterday about not recognizing a person. I
remember asking my mother who a person was at my father‘s funeral and it turned out it
was my ex-husband! Of course I hadn’t seen him in decades.

I wonder if you’ve thought about sending Thanksgiving dinner 🥘 over to Bithar’s house instead of having a get together? Maybe everyone should do a Search for how to construct a Venn diagram of your contacts as well as potential guests in relation to virus spread at this difficult time. I’ll be doing both Thanksgiving and Christmas by FaceTime this year. You are such a generous person that it might be difficult, so just a thought.

    1. Thank you Susette,
I’m glad you like Ten Ping’s dress and shoes set… and soon there will be more! :o)
Several people said they missed yesterday’s post…hmmm…wonder what happened? I thought all the kinks were out of the system by now… maybe it was just a glitch for a day.
Those stories about ex’s were funny… It’s hard to imagine you’d forget someone you had been married to…but I guess it happens. :o)
We are still thinking about what to do… we have thought about sending it and it might be the safest way to go… I go the rest of my groceries today so I think I’m set for getting it all put together…
      Thanks Susette,
      Blessings, Jeanne

  4. Ten’s sweet dress and shoes are adorable. Lucky girl! And what a life, lounging all day on her little pink couch. 🙂
We bought one of those non touch thermometers yesterday! It’s the kind they use at the dentist now and other places for a quick temperature reading. So handy. We’re taking it along with us when we visit the grands on Thanksgiving although I’m sure daughter will have already checked the crew, but we’re scanning them all as we arrive. Can’t be too careful, but we are taking a risk.

    1. HI Joy,
Yes, the life of luxury for Ten Ping this time… lounging on her pink couch…and probably eating Bon Bon’s that I didn’t know she had! :o)
Pretty smart cookie you are for picking up one of those thermometers… I can’t believe they aren’t sold out… I went to our Walmart this afternoon to get the rest of my groceries and SO much stuff was missing. I think lots of people must be having macaroni and cheese for Thanksgiving, as the entire shelf was empty!
      Thanks Joy,
      Blessings, Jeanne

  5. Ten Ping’s little dress is just darling and with that full slip and twirly skirt, I’m sure she does like to dance. Her little pink couch is adorable, I can’t remember where you found that… the thrift store I’m guessing. 🙂
Can’t wait to see what she gets to finish this off. I’m sure all the girls are clamoring from the dolly shelf to be chosen next.

    1. Thank you Laura,
I just love looking at my tiny dolls when they are dressed up… I always have liked miniature things and I guess I’d call them miniatures! :o)
Rebecca found that little couch for me at a store called Ross’s. The couch is actually a jewelry box… the seat opens up and there is a mirror inside too.
Yes, they all have their hands raised and wanting to be picked for the next “top model!”
      Thanks Laura,
      Blessings, Jeanne

  6. If that isn’t the sweetest little dress. Don’t you have some seed beds in red that would look more like holly berries? Aqua shades are my favorite…just did our bedroom over in a pale dusty aqua. Her shoes in that same shade are so perfect. What will her story be?
You will have quite the group with all of Jean and Bithar’s family! I’m sure they will enjoy your traditional Thanksgiving menu.
    Enjoy your weekend

    1. HI Kathie,
I was trying to get the dress finished so I could take pictures of it, so I just sewed that button on but Rebecca might have some red seed beads… I forgot to ask her today, but I will tomorrow. She’s wanting to make one of those tied fleece blankets tomorrow… well, at least get it laid out and the 2 pieces cut the same size…
I hope I can get everything pulled together for dinner Thursday… I worked on cleaning out my pantry today and will have to do some more work this evening…
      Thanks Kathie,
I hope you have a nice weekend too!
      Blessings, Jeanne

  7. Ten Ping is absolutely adorable in her new dress and matching shoes. I like her posing in the pink sofa!! She looks very proud to be modeling this outfit!

That’s a good idea using those little star stickers for earrings. And her little face looks so much better after her face coloring. She’s so much more photogenic.

What a lovely picture of Jean and Bithar and their children.
All the children are have grown so. Where have the years gone?

    1. Thank you Paula,
I’m so glad you like Ten Ping’s new dress and shoes set. She was quite the little ham on that sofa!
I am crazy about her looks now that she’s been to the spa and gotten all that orange washed off her face. I just adore how pretty she is!
Jean and Bithar really do have a wonderful family…a growing one and the kids are so adorable.
      Thanks Paula,
      Blessings, Jeanne

  8. Lovely photo of your friends I am sure you will have a lovely time with them.
Love the little sofa it is so cute and Ten Ping’s dress and shoes are adorable.

Hope all you girls (in US) enjoy your Thanksgiving even under such trying circumstances. and I hope you all stay well.

    1. HI Anne,
Well, that’s the plan around here… to stay well as long as we can. It’s going to be different, but I hope we can pull it off… as long as no one gets sick, it should be a go here for dinner.

Thanks for your kind words about Ten Ping and her new outfit!
      Blessings, Jeanne

  9. Bithar’s family needed another boy — I’m glad to hear about David, and Grace is so cute in that picture — natural cuteness plus that hair bow is a world class winner. If these kids are half as smart as they are beautiful, they’ll make their marks on the world.

These are great pictures for showing off Ten Ping’s pretty shoes. It’s hard to believe that you could just get better and better, but you do. Too bad tomorrow is Sunday — it will be fun to see how you finish this outfit. I liked Ten Ping’s chair, but the couch is perfect for her.

    1. Hi Marilyn,
Oh my goodness, yes these kids are smart… they are sweet AND smart! I’m trying to put together a game where they can win some prizes I’ve bought… just as a little extra something to do…
I stepped into my sewing room today and saw my glue gun laying on the table and thought, “Oh my goodness, I really should have tried it out more than just a few tries to see if I really did like it before I went all crazy telling everyone how wonderful it was… ” I really like it but I should have made about a half dozen pairs of shoes before I committed to saying it was that good… but I’ve already said it, so I hope if anyone buys it, they like it too.
That little couch is actually a jewelry box that Rebecca found for me. A store here in town had them and she thought I could probably use it for a prop… boy do I have her trained or what?
      Thanks Marilyn,
      Blessings, Jeanne

  10. It’s hard to believe we’re coming up on Thanksgiving this week. It’s really crept up on me. Guess I had better check with the family to see what I’ll be bringing to Thanksgiving dinner. I usually do the fruit salad and Sean and Dionne do the rest. They both like to cook, especially Sean, and they are good cooks. It will just be the four of them and David and myself, which is usually the case. Sometimes our oldest son comes, but often he gets an offer from a girlfriend and he goes there.

Ten Ping is quite the little dancer and her beautiful petticoat shows off her grace and form perfectly. The dress is lovely and the shoes are perfect. The ensemble will make some small dolly very happy this holiday (Chanukah, Christmas, Kwanzaa, Winter Solstice, New Year’s Eve) season. I’m for celebrating them all. And then there’s my birthday the day after Christmas. A true season of holidays.

I’m hoping to get my Christmas decorations up next week. I usually do it after Thanksgiving, but this year I’m really needing the feeling of joy they bring. Some of the people in my town have already started putting things up. It’s been a tough year and seeing all the colored lights and things helps lift the spirits. Hopefully we will have some semblance of normalcy at our church on Christmas Eve. We usually have two services with the choir singing at both. In between we’ve had a dinner and choir Christmas Party. I’m not sure what will happen this year, but the choir members are together each Sunday and there is plenty of room in the parish hall to space out for eating, so maybe we will still do it. Time will tell.

Looking forward to seeing the finished Ten Ping outfit. Think I’ll go do some sewing myself. I’ve been told by tiny voices that there are a few who need Christmas dresses that didn’t get them last year. I think they’ve been drawing straws to see who goes first. I don’t seem to get a say-so.

    1. HI Barbara,
I hope even though your Thanksgiving will be small, it will be nice.. I hope we are still on for ours by the time Thursday rolls around.
When I was cutting this dress out, I thought it wasn’t TOO TERRIBLY Christmasy and could be worn a little longer than just at Christmas… If you don’t look too closely, you can almost miss the holly leaves and berries… and just think of it as a geometric design! :o)

I’m not sure what decorating we will be doing this year… I’d love to get my kitchen cabinets painted and the holidays might be the perfect time to do it… then I could start my year off right with new white cabinets.
We’ve had to cancel our married couple’s Christmas party (this would have been year 26 for me to host it) :o(
They keep us busy don’t they? I haven’t done any sewing today, but I did get my pantry cleaned out! yippee!!
      Thanks Barbara,
      Blessings, Jeanne

  11. I love that little pink sofa. I bet it’s a jewelry box. I made a little sofa that is Barbie sized. It works for all my small dolls.

Ten ping is so cute in her new outfit!

    1. You’re so smart, Julia! It IS a jewelry box… Rebecca found it for me at a store here in town… wondered if I might need it for a prop. Yes please!
      Thanks Julia,
      Blessings, Jeanne
