Let the 1900’s American Girl doll dresses shine on Ebay…

I went to bed before midnight, but if any more names came in before midnight, I’ll add them and update my list of ladies who made it in the drawing in time. (sorry, no late comers this time)
This is the updated list as of 10:15 p.m. Thursday night.

It was funny…I listed the beige dress first since I made it first, and I got the first bid on it FOUR MINUTES LATER! So let the FUN begin! :o)

If you hadn’t seen them, the auctions went live last night and you can see them by clicking their pictures at the right side bar or you can click HERE for the beige dress and HERE for the blue dress.

…and now that the listings are on Ebay and all of you have voted…I can tell you Cindy and Deb both picked the beige dress as their favorite… I’m not sure if they think it will go the highest, but it was their favorite. There truly is something really special about it in person… I think it’s the fabric… :o) I never knew a beige dress could inspire me so much to create a new pattern. We’ll see what happens.

I received an email from Marilyn with a fun cape pattern included…it’s actually for a 12.5″ doll, so it would have to be drafted to fit other size dolls… but a cape shouldn’t be that hard to do… It’s very cute!

Cape for doll

I received an email from Dorothy back in September that I somehow missed…She sent me a picture of her 3 girls dressed in their 1900’s dresses. I wanted to share them with you, but they wouldn’t upload…I kept messing with things and finally got them…

This is what Dorothy wrote…
I am attaching a photo of my doll in your beautiful Suffragist dress.

She is a StarPath Doll. She is called Wishing Star. I have abbreviated her name to simply Wish. She has a stuffed body like the American Girl dolls. She is 18 1/2 inches.
Here is a doll review:

The doll on the left is my Stardust Just Pretend doll. Her face sculpt is Laurel. She is 18 inches and has a hard body.
Here is a link to a doll un-boxing:

The doll doll on the right is an Espari doll from Lotus. She was sold by Barnes and Noble years ago but I got her on ebay. I don’t know what her face sculpt is called. I named her Happy. She is stuffed like the American Girl dolls. She is 18 inches. Other doll makers have used this face sculpt.
Here is a link to some information about the Lotus dolls:

Sorry…that’s it for today, I’m heading to bed…

See you tomorrow,
Blessings, Jeanne

    Ooh, the race is on!!

Loved seeing Dorothy’s dolls in their Suffragette dresses!! Such interesting dolls, too!

Thanks Jeanne, for the videos–and the trip down memory lane! I remember those Just Pretend dolls, now that I see them. I never did get any, but I surely did get a lot of the idolls.com outfits! They were contemporary styles, lots of mix and match pieces, and shoes, and they were of a size that the slimmer 18″ Magic Attic dolls could wear nicely. Rose (my one Magic Attic doll) is in one of their outfits now–T-shirt, denim skirt and knee-length lace-up boots!

    1. Hi Charlotte
It’s fun looking at new dolls, isn’t it? Glad you enoyed this shorter than average post..
      Thanks Charlotte
      Blessings, Jeanne

  2. Congratulations on your first bid. Those of us who voted blue may have been wrong. I grant that it’s too early to tell.
Like Charlotte, I enjoyed seeing Dorothy’s dolls. I’m not familiar with them, but I discover things I don’t know about every day. I think Happy is especially beautiful.
I’ve always thought the Gotz Little Sister dolls were cute too — there must be several brands that can wear Jeanne’s AG outfits. If we made a list, would you be able to make the outfits come up under any of the names on Ebay and attract more bidders? I’m not sure I want more competition, but owners of other dolls of similar size might love to know they can get wonderful clothes that fit their dolls.
A year ago I was preparing to go into hospice and being visited by a friend with terminal cancer, both of us regretting we wouldn’t get to vote in this election. Here we both are, waiting for our ballots to be delivered. (Ballots are starting to be mailed today in Colorado. We are behind a lot of other states.) So you never know — sometimes the news is good.

    1. hi Marilyn
You never now what might happen with auctions. But I was surprised and thrilled to see a bid so quickly. It made my night!
I have found myself lokking at the Gotz Little Sister dolls too. I think they have the sweetest faces…
I am SO glad your year ended up differently than you had expected!! There were more dolls that needed you as their new mom!! :o)
      Blessings, Jeanne

  3. Oh boy, I absolutely love that beige dress, but I guess it will get sold and you won’t have it on your hands much longer, Jeanne! I absolutely adore it and also think the fabric is just perfect for the style of the dress. I thought the blue would go for higher,, but maybe not. It’s too early to tell!

Marilyn’s idea of listing other dolls that can wear your dresses is a good one, as long as you know they fit!

So Dorothy won the Suffragist dress! I loved seeing her dolls, dressed so nicely! It was also fun to watch her videos. Thank you for sending those Dorothy!

    1. hi Linda
Yes. I guess with a bid already, you’ll have to pass on this one.. it makes me smile that you liked it so much!
Isn’t it fun to see new dolls? I loved the videos too!!
      Thanks Linda
      Blessings, Jeanne

  4. I’m so glad the beige dress will sell. I just love that fabric. I saw the question mark after my name on your list, and yes, I voted for the beige.

    1. hi Debi
I’m glad you let me know fors sure you wanted to be on Team Beige! :o)
      Blessings, Jeanne

  5. Loved seeing Dorothy’s girls ready to get out the vote. Our ballots here in CA arrived Wednesday. I’m wading through it and then will drive to the county clerk and hand it over in person. The League of Women Voters has some great explanations of confusing issues.
Loved seeing the first bid on the beige dress. 🙂 Guess we’ll all be watching Tuesday to see the final outcome.
So what did you and sisters do during their visit? Any shopping?

    1. hi Joy
I hope I have a record number of watchers (and maybe bidders too) on Tuesday evening…that will be fun.
My sisters and I just spent time together, did some shopping as our JC penny’s is going out of business…I made them some new face masks and we ate! Pretty exciting. Huh?
      Thanks Joy
      Blessings, Jeanne

  6. Your listings look wonderful so hope both of them go well😉
Dorothy’s collection of 18” dolls has Dolls I’ve never seen so there are lots of girls that can wear your dresses😍 The one called Happy certainly has a sweet look about her.
We sure do love our dolls. It will be fun to watch these auctions😊

    1. thank you Kathie,
There are more dolls than we’ll ever know about. I guess. It was fun to see some new faces, wasnt it?
Thanks for your kind compliments, Kathie,
      Blessings, Jeanne

  7. I loved seeing all Dorothy’s dolls. I never knew there were so many different ones around. Most of my dolls came from Woolworths. I was born in 1945 and grew up in UK in the period after the war when there was still rationing. By the time rationing had ended so had my interest in dolls really. I doubt any of the older dolls ever made to our little town. London maybe, at Harrods! Not a store my Mother would have frequented lol. The suffragette outfit looks lovely on Wishing Star. What a lovely name, but yes a mouthful Dorothy.
Our election is next week. My grandson turned 18 in August so was able to vote for the first time this year. He wasn’t enrolled of course so Sam Greg and Jonathan went up yesterday, got Jono enrolled and they then all voted. I did mine on Tuesday. Actual election Day is next Saturday (17th). The polls seem to indicate that Jacinda will get back in again but a week is a long time in politics they say. Since there are only 5 m of us and of course not all can vote, we will know by about 9pm on Saturday night who has won, unless it is a very close result and they have to wait for all the special votes to be counted (especially those citizens living overseas, though not as many as there were most seem to have come back home).
We had someone else ‘escape’ from isolation yesterday. She had only been there for two days and got out both nights! Fortunately she had had a negative test before she got on the plane and another negative test when she got here, also she did her walkabout in the early hours of the morning so no shops to contaminate and very few people on the streets. What is it with these people, they come back home (they are almost all NZ citizens or residents) because they feel it is safe here then ignore the very rules that keep it safe!!!
Haven’t looked at e bay yet but will do that now. Take care everyone.

    1. thanks Anne,
Let me say how sorry I was when you said you didn’t win any prizes for your sewing…you just send us more pictures and we’ll always vote for you!! I really want t see your quilting project.
      Blessings, Jeanne

  8. Cha -ching. Love seeing that first vote on the beige dress. That dress ranks up there with my favorites you have made. there’s something very unique and different about it. So Deb and Cindy both went for the beige as well. The three of you always seem to agree.
So much fun to see Dorothy’s dolls. Always interesting to see different dolls, I’m not familiar with any of them. I see the Just Pretend were out around the time the Magic Attic ones were. Wish looks beautiful in the suffragette dress. Laurel is gorgeous in that gray dress. I love some neutral colors for doll dresses. I see she’s meant to be a wood fairy. The Wood Fairy costume that AG made is the only costume I have. I need to make a kitty cat one!
Thank you for the cape pattern, Marilyn. All my dolls “live” in eras where capes are the norm.

    1. hi Laura,
It’s funny, but that beige dress happens to be one of my new favorites too… :o)
I think we all love to see new dolls…I know I do… it’s probably a good thing I’ve never been to a Doll Convention…
      Thanks Laura
      Blessings, Jeanne

  9. I loved seeing Dorothy’s dolls. I never heard of them and will watch her videos. My Maru Mini Pal, Savannah, came today. I would love to have more of these. It was a toss up between Maru and Savannah, but I picked Savannah because of her name. My friend named her daughter Savannah Brooke and I always loved the name. Maru is next on my list. And the boy and girl twins are beyond cute. Almost wish I’d found these dolls sooner. I’m running out of room.

Sounds like the beige dress is off and running. This will be an interesting competition.

    1. Hi Barbara
      I’m glad you like Savannah..
She’d be the one I picked too if I was going to get one.
Who knows with auctions…the blue dress “lovers”might be waiting for last minute bidding… we’ll see…
      Blessings. Jeanne
