Two Boneka dolls playing dress up…

DON’T FORGET:
Elizabeth’s “Regency Romance” dress, spencer and bonnet auction ends tonight on Ebay. Somehow I’ve got to break the news to Elizabeth that just because Nora got to wear her dress 3 months, doesn’t mean she does…she won’t be thrilled, but the winner will!! You can see the auction by clicking the picture at the right side bar or click HERE.

I had a busy weekend but managed to find some time to get Holly’s dress finished. I also decided to make pantalettes instead of bloomers…Cindy had sent me some vintage German lace and I love how it shows up against the bright pink…

Here are a few pictures to start your Monday off with a smile… :o)

If they didn’t give you enough smiles, how about these… Noel said, “Hey, it’s MY turn!”

I’m not sure who wears it best… but maybe YOU do!!!

Wait till you see what tomorrow holds!!!
See you then,
Blessings, Jeanne

That lace is just perfect on the pink print! I find that sometimes lace can get lost on a print ike this, but the lace you chose has enough “oomph” to show up beautifully.

Both girls wear it well, and my two Bonekas (Mona and Nyla) are eyeing it. Of course, Gigi (Ten Ping’s friend) just had to pop up and remind us that pink is Her favorite color! LOL

  2. Oh my goodness, that dress turned out just darling! I think each doll gave it a certain “vibe”, to make the dress her own! The lace is just the perfect thing to show off both the fabric and the lace! Neither one overpowers the other. You would do well to show both dolls in the Ebay auction.

So, from what I get, Boneka dolls and Little Darlings are the same, except for size? Are they made by the same company? Why the different names? It makes it more confusing to me! I have a Betsy McCall, and she comes in different sizes, but still is Betsy McCall!

    1. Linda check out thedollstudio.com and dolloutfits.com. The first one is Dianna Effner’s site and the second is that of Magalie Dawson. If you think you’re confused now, you will be overwhelmed by the choices – and they all have different names. If you order one from Magalie you get to pick the hairstyle, color of eyes and name it yourself. And hers come with adorable outfits too.

      1. Thank you, Barbara! I will check out those sites for sure and hope I understand what they are all about. I just love the sweet little faces on those dolls!

      Dear Linda, hello.
Little Darlings are 13 inch dolls sculpted and sold by Dianna Effner and her artists who paint the dolls for her. They often appear as convention souvenir dolls.

Bonekas are 10 inch dolls that are like little sisters of the Little Darlings. They are sold through the Boneka company and through doll shops. They also appear as convention souvenir dolls.

The Little Darlings have 4 face sculpts. If you purchase one from an artist, she will paint the doll however you like (eye color, lip color, freckles or not, etc.) If you get a convention doll, it will have been painted through the factory. These dolls are still cherished; however, they cannot be referred to as “artist painted.”

The Bonekas have 3 face sculpts (Monday, Tuesday, Thursday). As with the Little Darlings, they can be painted by the artists or factory painted.

I belong to a Little Darling group. If you want more information or you have specific questions, please let Jeanne know and ask her to give you my email address. I will be happy to answer your questions.

      1. Hello Dorothy! Little by little I am getting to understand ! Never thought dolls could be so complicated! And I must say it is very interesting the more I hear about them! Thank you so much for the info, and I just might take you up on some more information!

  3. The pink color of the dress goes so well with both girls. Very cute. Might be nice to have a cute lace top to pair with the cropped pants aka pantalettes. It would make a very cute modern second outfit. šŸ™‚
For Linda, Dianna Effner of Little Darlings, (she’s in Missouri) licenses lots of sculpts to different people. They in turn have the dolls produced by a variety of manufacturers. Including, Boneka, Heartstrings, Maru and Friends, Ruby Red Fashion Friends, and more. Hope someone chimes in with a better explanation. Got up late and have to get going. šŸ™‚

    1. Joy, what a surprise to find that Diana Effner is a Missouri girl, about 2 hours from me, in Jamestown, Missouri! We must have passed close by when we go visit our son in
Colorado, or go to Kansas City. It is just a small little town, that I have never heard of before, but maybe now we can actually go there. Iā€™m sure she isnā€™t open to the public, but it is just nice knowing she is close by.

Thank you so much for the information! I feel so blessed to be getting all this information from my blog friends!

      1. I think I remember that Dianna has tours of her workshop. I think that would be very interesting. šŸ™‚

  4. Really sweet little dress. Both girls look lovely in it. The lace is very pretty against the bright pink fabric.

I think Joy’s explanation is perfect. I knew about the LDs and Heartstrings for ages but did not know about the Boneka dolls until I saw you making clothes for them. Then I just had to have one. Charlotte is a perfect little sister for my Claire and cousin to Fallon.

Slow going today. I’ve got a pinched nerve in my lower back. I had to sleep in my recliner last night but at least I did get some sleep.

  5. Iā€™m not sure who wore it better…..the dress actually looks equally nice on both girls. Of course, Noelā€™s hairbow adds to the look. The lace is perfect on the pink print too.

Dear Jeanne, the dress is adorable. I love that color of pink. I think Noel wins for Who Wears It Best and Holly wins for Who Wears It With Spunk. Now both girls can be happy.

  7. I love the outfit, it looks so lovely on both dolls. I wouldn’t like to choose. Love the explanations from Dorothy and Joy about the different dolls. I am learning a great deal.

  8. I got my sewing machine back yesterday (Monday). I only took it in on Saturday so that was great service, I thought. I haven’t used it yet, I was so tired after the last couple of weeks I just blobbed out yesterday. Had great plans to clean the house too!! It will have to wait till Wednesday now. As for the workroom!
My son-in-law (Greg) is home now, he will be off work for weeks and maybe months but they had a meeting at his work yesterday and he has been told his job is safe and they want him back when he is ready. Considering they are laying people off that is amazing news. Sam (and the children) still want to move out but she feels she has to wait until he is a lot better. The doctor told him if he had waited another 24 hours it would have been too late. Very scary, especially as Sam felt he was making a mountain out of a molehill and didn’t think he needed to go to the doctor! Apparently it will have been coming on for a long time but the early symptoms are pretty innocuous like headaches and back ache and also high triglycerides which is easily mistaken for high cholesterol. That is why most adults who get it usually end up in ICU or worse, because it isn’t picked up until the severe symptoms show up and it can be too late then. They have no idea how people get it, they don’t think it is cancer but haven’t ruled it out yet (leukaemia can bring it on) but the treatment is chemo so he is starting to realise how Sam has felt all this time.

  9. Anneā€™s term for tired….ā€ blobbed outā€ is one I need you rememberā˜ŗļø Very explanatory!
Hope things improve for him AnnešŸ™šŸ»
The Boneka dolls look just sweet as can be in that dress. What an unusual color of red….or is it pink? Either way a great look for those little girls! I have a Heartline doll that for the longest time I thought was Boneka….so hard to tell them apart. They both have those darling Effner expressions. Now that I have found her box she may have to find a new home.
    Have a good week!

Dear Kathie, the Heartstrings Dolls were designed by Dianna Effner, so they are in the Little Darling “family.” They are 8 inches tall and look a bit like the Little Darling doll Sculpt 3, the smiling face.

As previous folks mentioned, they are not being made any longer and they are quite difficult to find. If you decide to sell your doll, you should have no difficulty finding her a new Mama.

      1. I’m feeling more blessed each day to have thee of them. Jo thought she was selling her business but at the moment it looks like they become more valuable every day.

  10. Right now i am watching your auction. I think this is going to be a last minute flurry. Either that or everyone thinks it will go so high they don’t think they could win and are staying away. It’s a cliffhanger.

    1. Hi Marilyn,
I was certainly on the edge of my seat… and that last minute and a half was incredible! Hadn’t had an auction end like that in a really long time!!!
      Thanks, Jeanne
