I made a doll stand today…

It’s not a regular doll stand, but a quadruple stand!!! :o) I’ve wanted to make it for a while, but it wasn’t high enough on my priority list. Well, today I looked at my room and decided I was going to do something fun instead of sort more stuff.

I did a few other things today that I’ll share soon!

I had 4 smaller dolls who didn’t have stands so they always had to lay down on the dolly shelf.

I had an idea to make a stand that held those 4 ten inch dolls…Patsy, Trixie, Elin and Noel.

I took a piece of 1/4″ plywood 4″ x 15″ and my hubby cut 4 holes spaced evenly apart. I had already made sure each doll could easily slide in and out of the holes.

Then I covered it with thin fleece and glued it in place. I made slits in the hole openings and pulled them to the back side and glued them down.

Then I covered it and glued down a blue fleece doing the exact same thing to it, making the slits and gluing them down on the back side too.

I pulled the sides to the back and glued them in place.

I wanted it to be a little prettier than just all blue fleece, so I used some trim and glued it around the top edge.

I took white felt and glued it underneath to hide all the pointed looking pieces.

I didn’t want the dolls feet to slide forward in the stand so I glued a piece of trim around the lower edge of the stand to keep them standing upright.

Yay!! It worked!!!

The wood stand fits nicely up in my doll shelf and the girls LOVE looking around instead of laying on their backs and staring at the top of the bookshelf.

Hope you enjoyed that!!

See you tomorrow,
Blessings, Jeanne

What a clever idea for a doll stand! And the nice soft fleece next to their skin, so they don’t get scratched by the wood, too. This is a wonderful idea, and you can just See how much happier they are to be able to look out into your room instead of up at the underside of the furniture!! Yay!

  2. Sure did enjoy “watching” you make that darling stand! Just another thing from the genius of your mind, Jeanne! Just when I thought you had it all finished, you added something else to make it look so pretty!

Now, who are those two poor dollies still laying down on the shelf? I think they may be a bit jealous!

  3. That is a great idea, and you finished it off so nicely with the trim around the edges and the felt on bottom. These are excellent instructions for anyone needing a stand for multiple dolls. (I don’t blame you for taking a break from sorting; I’m sure it’s getting tiresome, and it will still be there when you get ready.)

  4. I wasn’t quite sure how that stand was going to work as I was concerned about scratching the dolls. But, with all of that fleece/felt the girls look very well padded. It kind of reminds me of a flower pot stand which could be used for a shower/table decoration as well should the occasion arise. It would be great to hold bowls of treats too. Multiple uses. 🙂
So glad you had a chance to do something creative. Bet it was fun finding things in your “new” space. Hope your 4th is fun.

  5. So fun, Jeanne, to see that you had some fun with your creativity, your dolls have such a tidy, well-crafted place to view you from now, and George had (what I assume) an easy task that pleased his wife so much. You make everything so nicely!

    Blessings.

  6. HAPPY 4TH OF JULY EVERYONE!!

Usually on the 4th we meet up with our son and his family at a Wal-Mart parking lot near where they have the fireworks. We go early to get a good place next to each other. We buy the grandkids packages of poppers and that keeps them entertained (and us) until the fireworks start. I checked and, while the events during the day have been cancelled, as of now the fireworks will still happen. Most people normally watch from their cars or right outside their cars and we’ve been asked to wear masks and stay six feet from anyone who is not with our group/family. So many things have been cancelled this year so I figured this would be too. So far it’s not.

I love the doll stand. Very clever. I don’t have enough small dolls to need to do this, but if I ever do, I’ll think of your ingenious stand.

Today I plan to switch my winter wardrobe to summer. I have been living out of two closets for the past month because I couldn’t find time to do the change. I talked myself out of doing it yesterday. Must do better today.

  7. Excellent idea Jeanne. Now your girls can see the whole sewing room too and they look neater and in view.
It’s called “ adjusting to our needs .”

Simon Roxy is so adorable. Glad you shared an update on him yesterday. The little stand for him is another good idea.

  8. What a great idea! I’m sure the foursome are happy to not have to spend all their time lying down. anymore. The fleece to protect their bodies was a smart choice. So nice with the decorative trim.

  9. Your doll stand is a great invention! Who are the 2 that are still staring up at the sky or rather the shelf above them?

Our son was here today. I haven’t seen him since the end of February! He bought his first home and is moving next weekend. He came to borrow a trailer, and pick up his riding lawn mower. The mower is kind of a house warming present from us. Hubby is a John Deere mechanic/service writer. He has a number of JD lawn mowers of various types in various conditions. The rider is probably overkill for the lawn size but it’s more fun than a push! I had Also made some more masks for him too.

  10. That stand is brilliant! Your finishing touches make it even better and so cute with the trim!
Hope you can do some other fun things this weekend😉🇱🇷🇱🇷

  11. The doll stand is greatAnd adds to the neatness of the room. I have been anxious to get those folded fabrics back I place. Now that they are there I feel you can relax for a day or two, especially since tomorrow is a holiday.
I finally had a chance to use my Savory pan. If the roast had been better quality, it would have been better, but right now we get what we get and are grateful.
In spite of my stiff, numb fingers, I managed to change Felicity into one oF your Civil War dresses, and She has never looked prettier or happier.

      1. After a year away from my dolls, it’s lovely to see them. It takes about five minutes apiece for Jeanne’s tiny buttons, but they are worth it.

        1. Thanks for letting me know your girls are dressed up in one of my dresses! That really brought a smile to my face.
We used our Savory for Father’s Day and I made a huge pan of BBQ chicken!
I’m SO SO glad you are home! But I bet not as glad as YOU are!
          Blessings, Jeanne

  12. What an ingenious idea, Jeanne! And so well-padded! I wonder if a sheet of foamcore would work for smaller dolls? Or Skippers? I built risers for my nanoblock buildings from foamcore and contact paper, which worked well since the buildings are lightweight. Oh, I love seeing your creativity!

    1. Charlotte Trayer

I was wondering that, too, Beth. Maybe someone could try it and let us know! Might be best for the smallest dolls, though–I’m not sure how strong foam core is.

  13. Have a great holiday today all of you. Obviously we don’t celebrate Independence Day here, we have our own National Day, Waitangi Day, in Feb, but we are having our first Patchwork and Quilting Guild meeting today, since before lockdown so cause to celebrate there. So looking forward to it.

    1. HI Anne,
I hope you have fun at the Quilt meeting! I’d join you if I could!
      Blessings, Jeanne
