~Vintage Velvet ~ is ready for bidders…

Oops… that first bid was just topped by a bid of $90.00. Thank you!
YAY! We just got our first bid ~ $50.00. Thank you!

Hi everyone,
I finished the black velvet dress and wanted to let you know a little more about it and how this will work. This is going to be auctioned off here on my blog, and the money that is brought in from it will go to a dear reader. If you missed the post, “A Very Special Auction,” you should read it first… (HERE)

I’ll give some directions and then show you some pictures of the finished dress set.

This dress set will be auctioned off, starting with a bid of $50.00. You may bid on it though the “Contact Me” tab just under the header of my blog, at the top. It will take you to my email and you can just tell me what you’d like to bid privately. It’s going to work like a silent auction, only I’ll be updating the highest bids when they come in. As any bids come in, I will update them at the top of the post. I’m going to let this auction run until Sunday night at midnight. If 2 bids come in for the same amount, I’ll use the time stamp to determine who was first. You can bid more than one time if you see you are outbid.

The winner will receive the dress, and Marilyn will receive the money. Please don’t think of winning this dress and sending it to Marilyn. She wants the funds to be used to thank her caregivers. This dress should be bid on by YOU because YOU want it for YOUR doll. :o)

If you don’t want to bid on the dress, but would like to contribute any funds to Marilyn, you can do so by using my Paypal address… bullman@siu.edu
I have already had money come in. Thank you ladies! It’s one of those things you’ll just have to trust me that I’ll send ALL monies to Marilyn. I promise you I WILL. I will show everyone the winning bid for the dress and also disclose the rest of the money given. I hope we can help Marilyn have the best party for her caregivers or whatever she wants to use it for. We love you Marilyn!

Okay, now I guess we better take a look at what you are bidding on… I’m calling this “Vintage Velvet,” not because the velvet IS vintage, but because when I made it the first time, I showed it on Elizabeth, but it was a dress I copied from a 1974 Pattern book. This is a picture of the dress from 45 years ago. I think that qualifies as vintage to me!

It was originally made for a Julie doll, being from the 70’s, but it’s pretty classic looking and just might be the perfect Christmas dress for your doll now!

It includes the velvet dress, the hairband, her shimmery silver thigh highs, the black shiny shoes, the necklace; made by my daughter, and the silver ornament.

Here are the thigh highs and shoes that you haven’t seen yet…

…and here are the rest of the pictures… all new, done with a white lacy background… I hope you like them!

Do you like it so far?

…and just a few more…

…Okay… let the bidding begin! If you have any questions please email me or ask in the comments below.

I love all you wonderful ladies and thank you in advance for your kindness toward Marilyn!

See you tomorrow,
Blessings, Jeanne

It is just exquisite, Jeanne! Whoever wins it will be fortunate, indeed–as will her doll! Every part of the ensemble is gorgeous, and the silver ornament was just the right accessory!!

    Good luck, everyone!

  2. Just beautiful, Jeanne! I love the pretty ornament too! You are right, this dress could even work for a modern doll, although I must say that the 70’s seem like yesterday to me! If the 70’s are vintage, I must be quite vintage too!

Now to get back to my decorating! Like someone said yesterday, it looks like a bomb exploded at my house!!

  3. Turned out so cute. Love how you added those sweet buttons to the shoes. And Elizabeth is doing an excellent job modeling. 🙂
Somehow, three Wellie sweaters and a little pair of roller skates managed to slip into my cart unbeknownst to me yesterday. I wonder who did that? Guess it must have been one of the dollies around here doing some shopping. 🙂

  4. I just love the mother-of-Pearl on her shoes. This whole ensemble reminds me of what I wore in high school. It’s perfect!

The bomb squad never came so I guess I’m stuck on clean up duty. 🙄

  5. So sweet of you to use the term vintage rather than antique. I was out of high school five years when 1970 rolled around. I did wear dresses like this though. The whole ensemble is absolutely lovely.

My house doesn’t look like a bomb blew up just yet. That will happen this afternoon. I thought I’d check out the blog before I can no longer find my computer. All my reorganizing and moving everything into one location in the garage rather than having some boxes in other buildings will help me a lot this year. Glad I did it.

Loved Joy’s comment about those sneaky little dollies, but she shouldn’t try to find out who did it. They will all look so innocent and cover for each other – with the promise there will be some sharing down the road.

  6. The dress turned out just beautiful, Jeanne!! Makes me almost wish I had an AG doll to wear it. It’s really lovely. Every part of it! Best of luck to the bidders!! I hope Marilyn gets all better very quickly and can join us again. Love and Hugs, Ali

  7. Everything about the whole ensemble is so lovely. All the accessories make a difference even though the dress would be perfect by itself.someone I’s going to have a very happy doll! And doll owner!
    Now what is next?😉
