Today’s my birthday…

…and Rebecca knows me very well! She found this recently while she was thrift shopping and thought I might like it! Uh…yes!! 63 years young!! 🤗

It will be added to the other 2 tins I have. I have worked harder and gotten more things done in my sewing room in the last week, than I have in the last year!! I am almost done!!

Tomorrow the 3 of us are going on the 100 mile yard sale!! Oh boy!! 🤪

See you then,
Blessings, Jeanne

  2. Dorothy in PA and the World

Dear Jeanne, Happy Birthday! What a wonderful gift and what a wonderful birthday visit from your sisters.

We, here on the sofa, wish you a day filled with joy and laughter and love. Now, how about a piece of birthday cake?

  3. What???????? Your birthday already? Oh my goodness, I completely forgot! I certainly haven’t forgotten YOU, dear Jeanne, but the date of your birthday! I’m so sorry, but you go ahead and have a good day in spite of me forgetting! I’m sure you will!

What a darling picture that Rebecca gave you! She knows you very well, indeed! It looks like they were advertising Ivory soap in that little vignette.

And the 100 mile yard sale trip! It’s always fun to hear about what you found and maybe a few pictures of what you saw. We will be looking forward to it.

Now just go ahead and celebrate YOU, make a wish, blow out those candles, and have a piece of cake and a glass of lemonade! Wish we could be there with you to share! Happy Birthday!

  4. Happy birthday Jeanne! You have a great time on the 100 mile trip and if you can, take some pictures so we can enjoy your trip too. Have fun and eat something yummy!

  5. Happy Birthday! What a way to celebrate a special day with a 100 miles of yard sales! We will hear from you in a week! Enjoy!

  6. Happy Birthday Dear Jeanne!! May your day be blessed with much happiness!
Hope you’ll share pictures of your sewing room.
    Enjoy your special day!!!🎂

  7. P.S. Do you have a special dessert you like or favorite flavored cake for your birthday?
One of our family traditions is the birthday person gets to choose what restaurant they’d like to eat dinner at ( or carry in dinner) and type of dessert. In my family we have one person who likes the Texas Chocolate Cake, one likes Strawberry cake, another likes ice cream, another likes Black Raspberry pie and the last, white cake, white icing.
Forgot to mention- have a good time in the 100 mile yard sale. How fun!

  8. Dear Jeanne,
Wishing you the happiest of Birthdays! What a thoughtful gift from your lovely daughter and quite fitting for what you have been up to lately. The little girl in the picture is quite the cleaner – oh my her dolly is hung up by her hair!
Can’t wait to hear about your 100-mile adventure (if you make it that far – that’s a lot of looking) and wishing you happy shopping.

  9. Good for Rebecca. Such a cute tin. I wonder if the dolly hanging by it’s hair is reflective of Rebecca’s thoughts? So funny. Love it. What a wonderful gift. And perfectly fitting as a gift for someone so young. 63 seems so far away now. You are aging quite graciously.
Oh, I so wish I could ride along in the back (I was going to say trunk but that might even date me more), on your 100 mile sale. I would so love it. Needless to say, I would need restraining from buying way too much. Are you towing a trailer? How can you ever decide where to stop and where not? Hope you can get some photos to share. And have a fabulous birthday little one. 🙂

  10. A very Happy Birthday to you. I LOVE the tin that Rebecca gave you, so nostalgic and very thoughtful and so appropriate for our sewing room. I am envious that you all going on a
100 mile yard sale; wish I were there to go with you all.

Excited to see what you have done in your sewing room. I am sooooo disappointed that today the work to install hardwood floors in the three upstairs bedrooms has been put on hold. The wood that was delivered a couple of days ago is one inch larger than the wood that we have in the living, dining rooms, stairs and hallway. It has taken so much energy to remove everything from three rooms and before it is put back, a purging will take place to downsize what is no longer needed. This is a huge process. Hopefully, the wood delivery that we have will be picked up and the new correct size wood delivered. Then looking forward to the work being completed. Sadly, the carpet that we had was cleaned and the person who did the job used entirely too much water and ruined the carpet. We have lived with it for several years and now decided that goodbye carpet and hello hardwood. I would love to hear from some of you that have hardwood in the bedroom, how you like it.

Looking forward to hearing all about your yardsale finds. Enjoy your day with your sisters.

  11. HAPPY HAPPY BIRTHDAY JEANNE!!
A 100 mile garage sale on your Birthday? It doesn’t get any better than that!
Hope you find many wonderful little treasurers and hope it is a nice day weather wise.
Can’t wait for pic and a report!

  12. A BIG HAPPY BIRTHDAY to you Jeanne. And many, many more. What a sweet gift from Rebecca. And a 100 mile garage sale! What’s not to look forward to about that. I’m afraid I wouldn’t be able to make it the whole way but I’d sure give it a try. Several of the others have asked questions I’m curious about also. I’ll just wait for your answers to them.

Just received my 1952 Sears catalog this morning. It’s hard to imagine the prices. A pack of three cute school dresses for $.99. I thought it was that apiece, but it’s for all three. Lovely little blouses for $1.69 each. Hard to wrap my head around all that. And what’s more is that they were made well and handed down. I saw pictures of slip/blouses. Anyone remember those? My sister and I had a couple. Wonderful memories.

Betsy, Lissy and Dell are all ready for back-to-school. Will work on Taylor Jane’s outfit today. Hers is wild. Can’t wait to see how it turns out.

Have a great day! Eat some cake for me.

  13. Dear Jeanne

Have a wonderful Birthday full of all the things you enjoy, friends ,family and of course cake. I love the tin Rebecca found it’s just so perfect for you, I wonder was it a recent find or has she had it stashed away for ages?

I’ve spent the day with my sister at a quilt show which was great fun. When I told my husband I was going he said he was going to wait till I was asleep last night and write ‘please do not sell this woman any fabric’ across my forehead!!! To be fair I probably have more fabric than I can sew in several lifetimes and at 66 I am running out of time.

So I’m going to a quilt show determined NOT to buy fabric how did I do? Well, apart from two fat quarters that jumped into my bag just as I was leaving, not bad although I had to do a bit of ‘creative explaining ‘ to my husband when I got back

    So this was my haul:

A beautiful piece of pink leather that is as soft as butter I’m thinking doll shoes or maybe a pink leather jacket, it’s not woven so it’s not fabric right?

Some hand dyed embroidery floss so I can learn to smock and then I can make lots of smocked dresses for my dolls and that will use up some of my fabric stash.

Some wadding (batting) made from a soya mix which is really thin and soft, winter is coming and my dolls will need quilts to keep warm and that will use more up more fabric (can you see where I am going with this?)

Some laminated fabric with dogs on (if it’s laminated it’s plastic not fabric right?) to make raincoats for my dolls as it will soon be autumn (fall) and it always rains in the UK

A pincushion and a tissue holder from a charity lucky dip (if it’s for a charity it’s a donation not a purchase)

Also from a charity stall a wall hanging panel ‘Why are teddy’s sew lovable’ that says things like ‘because they don’t tell you on Monday that they need a dress for Tuesday and They don’t complain when they step on a pin’

When my husband stopped laughing he had to admit it was probably the most creative reasoning I had come up with yet for a shopping spree.

Enjoy spending time with your family today and enjoy the hundred mile yard sale tomorrow I will look forward to seeing all your new treasures.

    Lorna in the UK

    1. Oh, Lorna! You had me laughing so hard at your creative ‘non fabric’ choices, and I really needed that! Love the sound of the Teddy panel and my, everything you bought was really needed here, too, LOL. Thanks for adding a lot of joy to my day!! Love and hugs, Ali

    2. Lorna, I don’t know if you’ll see this or not but I loved your rationalization for more “fabric”. My husband laughed at the idea of your husband writing on your forehead. I think he went away thinking to himself that it wasn’t a bad idea. I received a package one day from fabric.com. My husband saw it and said more fabric? I said no, just a bunch of fat quarters. I took it for granted that fabric to him meant yard goods. I also have that teddy bear wall hanging panel. I finally, after many years, got it made up with a cute red/white polka dot ruffle around the edges. I decided I wanted to “quilt” the bears, but haven’t got around to that yet.

  14. Happy Birthday to YOU
I love the picture You can frame it. Oh! You can get a cheapo frame from the dollar store (or get a bunch) and some paints and paint them, then make them look olden. I made a bunch of framed pictures for my daughters wedding reception table years ago, Oh they were so cool
Anyway, i hope you have a superb week-end birthday with waaay too much cake

  15. A happy, Happy Birthday to you dear lady!! May you be blessed with a day full of love!! Say “Hi” to Gloria for us! We need a birthday and 100 mile update real soon, LOL!!
    Love and Hugs, Ali

  16. HAPPY BIRTHDAY to you, dear Jeanne! I hope you have a wonderful day and God’s blessings in the year ahead. That little tin is adorable. Rebecca knew it would be perfect to corral some sewing supplies. I have seen and love that sweet picture
Have fun on the 100 mile yard sale. Hope you find some fun goodies to share.

  17. Happy birthday Jeanne! I hope you have a truly wonderful day. I have that same tin! It is hanging in my laundry room.

  18. So much for thinking we’re about the same age. Molly is my favorite doll because she’s of the 40’s as am I. Early 40’s, that is. Might as well admit that I have you by 15 years! Enjoy them because they just keep going by faster! Have a great time tomorrow. Wish I could go along. Maybe I’d find a cute little tin like that. Rebeca is sooo thoughtful.
