Wigs and Tea Parties and Apple pies

Julia (Jillaurellia) sent me some pictures of a Julie doll she is transforming into a boy…she wants him to look like her son…

First a look at Julie before the wig change..

…and 2 different looks for her new guy…

Isn’t he handsome… I’m a bit partial to the darker headed one… but with the right haircut, the other one could be pretty handsome.
She’s pretty brave… she’s also considering an eye change… I told her those were 2 things I have never attempted…

Susette sent me some pictures of a Tea Party Felicity and her friends were having. Perfect timing since I’m working on a dress for Felicity or Caroline… or maybe even Elizabeth… :o) Here’s the Tea Set…

Miss Felicity is having a Tea Party with her friends, Kit and Samantha… Kit is wearing a like new Elizabeth wig Susette found on Ebay for only $15! SCORE!!! Susette just set the wig on top of Kit’s wig since it was short…

Here’s Kit in long curls.. isn’t she cute? She’s wearing Felicity’s Tea Party gown…

Samantha is wearing Elizabeth’s Meet dress…and looks equally sweet. Her pearls were made by (my) Rebecca. :o)

Last up is Miss Felicity in her Summer dress… looking very pretty!

It was 9:58 tonight when I looked at my watch and debated about what to do. I hadn’t been in my sewing room and wondered if it was worth trying to come up with something… I decided to pass. Sorry… I did, however, make an apple pie for a friend from India. He LOVES my apple pies and I LOVE to bless him on his birthday with one. Here is a picture of it before it went into the oven…

…and a picture of it after it was done… My hubby delivered it to him… He was thrilled!!!

If you need a good homemade gift, an apple pie certainly fits the bill. Here is my detailed post with how I make mine.

Jeanne’s Homemade Apple Pie Tutorial

Well, I plan to get to town tomorrow and find those flowers for her hat… yes I do! :o)

See you tomorrow,
Blessings, Jeanne

Wow, I’m impressed! I don’t think I’d attempt a wig change, much less an eye change, on an American Girl doll!! Brave Julia!!

What fun Susette’s girls are having at their tea party, and all so beautifully dressed, too!! Thanks to Julia and Susette for sharing pictures!

Your apple pie looks wonderful, Jeanne! I haven’t made a pie in ages….might be about time again!!

  2. Wow, Julia is one brave lady to attempt a wig change, plus maybe even and eye swap? That’s something I never attempted to do, and probably will never do, since I like all my dolls just the way they are! But kudos to anyone who attempts things like this.

Susette’s dolls are just beautiful and the tea set is just a fantastic piece! Who would know that that is Kit hiding under Caroline’s beautiful wig?

Oh, I love apple pie! It has been ages, just ages, since I have made one from scratch, and I think it will always be ages! I can’t imagine making a crust from scratch, peeling apples, slicing them, and making sure it bakes evenly and just right. I love the result, but not the mess it makes in the kitchen, so I do it the easy way, pre-made pie crusts, and canned apples! Shame on me, but it works for me, and surely I can;t be the only one doing it like that. But it sure wouldn’t cut it if I made it alongside your beautiful pie!

  3. Oh what fun. I love tea parties.
I really can’t wait to have some with my four tiny grand daughters…..
Susette’s tea party looks wonderful. I love the dresses and hair.

Thank you for the apple pie recipe

  4. The wig really is new as it was in a net and had a fold from being packed and hadn’t been glued. I had given an Elizabeth doll to my granddaughter Riya, so I knew it was real. It is the devil to try to keep nice, though, as it will get frizzy fast. I couldn’t believe they were selling for that price, but they are all gone now. People have sources for genuine overruns of AG doll clothes and accessories from China and sell them on eBay. Some come directly from China but this came from a U.S. Seller.

I wouldn’t have the courage to take on the conversion but Julie knows what she’s doing. Speaking of which, Jeanne really knows how to make a perfect pie! Experience reigns, I think.

  5. I love when others share their pictures. Thanks Susette and Jillaurellia. With the exception of replacing a Ginny 1950 something wig that had dry rot, I have not re-wigged any of my dolls. And replacing eyes, never thought of that. I’m already in a panic because I have to put eyes in the Meadow doll I have on order. I worry I’ll have to do it several times to get it right.

I love the beautiful tea set. My dolls have a tea set, but it’s china. Nothing quite as fancy as Susette’s girls. And all in their lovely tea party attire. Beautiful! I was never one for playing with dolls when I was little, with the exception of my Ginny doll. Otherwise I preferred paper dolls. I’m truly surprised at my love for dolls today. My daughter never played with dolls, didn’t even have or want a Barbie and my granddaughter at seven isn’t the least bit interested in them. I bought her a H4H and a WW and last time I looked they were in the toy box. No!!!! So I never had and still don’t have anyone to do dolly tea parties with.

Got busted again the other day. Hubby put something in the recycle bin and noticed one of my new acquisitions. He sought me out to report he had discovered the package for the winter scene backdrop I had ordered. He reminded me of the saying, if you want to learn things about a person, all you have to do is look at their trash.

It was supposed to be raining when I got up this morning. It wasn’t and, while cloudy, the sky was still blue in places. I just looked to the northwest and the sky is very gray and occasionally I’m hearing a distant rumble. Hope rain is on the way. We are seriously beginning to need it.

    1. No worries about setting the Meadow girl eyes. Just put them in and add the wax, ear plugs you must furnish, to the back inside the head to hold them and then move them from the front until you like the placement then press down on the wax to hold. Not hard at all. I was also nervous the first time I tried, but it is really easy. 🙂

  6. Fun transformation of an AG doll. I like the second wig. Reminds me of a surfer dude. 🙂

What lovely tea party scenes Susette. The girls all are adorable. Kit looks so cute with curls. 🙂 I love seeing all of the AG accessories and the wonderful outfits. Is that silver tea set American Girl? It is lovely.

And your gift of pie is fantastic. I love seeing your beautiful pies.

Finally finished my second week robe outfit for the summer sew along. Next up is a Heidi outfit for 16″ dolls. I love the old black and white Heidi movie with Shirley Temple. Never see it on reruns anymore.

    1. I found the tea set decades ago at Fashion Island in Newport Beach where a store was going out of business. Just liked it and it was less than $20. I had no idea I’d get into dolls. There are no hallmarks on any of the pieces, not even Made in China. I would give it to my granddaughter but I know it would never get polished if it tarnishes. She’ll have it someday.

      1. Thanks Susette! It’s lovely. I’ve never seen one before and so perfect in your setting. 🙂

  7. Busted! Haha! Jillaurellia is my online name. In real life it’s Julia. My boy doll is going to be Zeke. Not my son’s name. Zeke’s head will be reunited with his body now that everything is scrubbed, buffed, and polished up. The dolls I have rewigged didn’t have nice hair anymore. Julie’s wig turned out to be cute after I trimmed it up so I was careful removing it. If a doll had nice hair I don’t think I could bear to rip it off her head. The eye swap sounds very challenging in all I’ve read. I may have someone else do it.

Susette, it looks like you have all of Felicity’s tea accessories. So fun!

Barbara, I would send you our rain if I could. We have too much!

Your apple pie looks delicious, Jeanne! Now that it has been suggested, I hope we get to see Elizabeth in the newest dress. Maybe? Please?

    1. I did a Search for Aurellia and it’s an interesting name. Linda D. has me beat for patience with setting up scenes. Mine don’t rotate nearly as often as hers and hers are so detailed and varied.

  8. That pie! You have so many talents. I wanted to bury my face in it and eat my way out. I see an apple pie in my near future. The only thing different I do to apple pie is to use brown sugar instead of white and it adds a bit of a Carmel flavor.

The tea party is just adorable. Suzette..you have unlimited patience to set up all the dolls and accessories for the party. I hope you make yourself a little book of those sweet pictures.

I almost took pictures of our backyard the other day..it had never looked so nice…then boom we had an awful hail storm. It took a toll on the flowers and leaves as if it was fall. I just cut rhubarb and the hostas down to the ground they were shredded. Time will tell if they recover😢
