Who wears it best…Felicity or Caroline?

I have the snaps sewn on the back of the new Colonial dress and the hem is finished… so…the dress part is all complete. I took some new pictures of Felicity and she does look very pretty in it. When I finished with her, I took Shara’s comment to heart and decided to see how Caroline might look in the dress…
I think they both look equally pretty in this…how about you?

I’ll show several pictures of each girl and see what you think… :o)

Here is how the back looks on Felicity…

Okay, now it’s Caroline’s turn…

Here is the back on Caroline…

They both look pretty enough in the dress, I might just do a “double feature” on this Ebay listing… but I would like to know which one you think looks the prettiest… just for fun. :o)

See you tomorrow,
Blessings, Jeanne

  1. Hi Jeanne,
I love the look on the blonde doll the best. Especially in the closeups.

    1. Thank you Lynn,
Caroline certainly is very photogenic, isn’t she?
      Blessings, Jeanne

My favorite is, of course, Felicity (since I have one, and I love red hair!!). I think it just looks so good next to her red hair, and really accents the color of her eyes, as well as her skin tones. Beautiful!!

Although the dress is pretty on Caroline, too, her coloring seems a bit paler than Felicity’s, and doesn’t work as well with the color of the dress.

Well, so far you have two different opinions! It will be interesting to see if there’s a strong favorite, or if there will be a fairly even division!

    1. Hi Charlotte,
I guess if you have a Felicity, you might like her the best and if you own Caroline, she might be your favorite.:o)
It looks like the opinions are split down the middle…I might have to use both girls as models.
      Thanks, Charlotte
      Blessings, Jeanne

  3. Jeanne, I think you are going to get nowhere with this, since I can’t decide who wears it better! I want to say Felicity, but then when I see Caroline, she looks equally as good! I think it would be a good idea to include both dolls in the listing, so you can get both the Caroline and Felicity owners excited about the dress . They both do it justice, although I know you had Felicity in mind when picking out the fabric and pattern. So, now you have 3 different opinions, and yet you are back to square one!!

Are you hot enough there in Carbondale?? Good heavens, I think summer is here, and it
is too hot to do much outside for long!

    1. Hi Linda,
I wondered if this might happen…half liking Felicity in it and the other half liking Caroline…oh well, it’s a pretty easy fix… use both girls. :o)
Yes, we are hot too! Sweltering out there, isn’t it?
      Blessings, Jeanne

  4. Hi Jeanne,

I agree with Linda…both dolls do the dress justice…there’s enough color in both dolls to pick up various colors in the dress…yes, it might expand your buying crowd to advertise it for both dolls….exquisite as it is.

You’re hot, we’re wet…it seems like extremes are the word of the day.

    Blessings.

    1. Hi Becky,
Thanks for your thoughts on my girls too…looks like both will be in the limelight on this dress… :o)
Wet, dry, hot, snow, wind, hail…you are right, ..something for everyone!!
      Blessings, Jeanne

  5. Don’t faint…here I am reading your blog at 5:30am! We just had a horrid storm go thru and what was the prettiest backyard we have had in years just got hailed on. 😢😢 The hail piled up against the garage door thick enough that my hubby shoveled it aside.
When the sun comes up I’ll probably see what has to be replanted😩😩

I couldn’t imagine that dress looking better than it did on Felicity…..but OMGosh it is stunning on Caroline too! I don’t think I can decide. That is a good thing because it will appeal to even more of your followers.
Have fun doing your magic on her accessories.

    1. Hi Kathie,
I think your hail might take the top spot in the weather report…
      I’m glad you like it on both girls…I couldn’t decide either… :o)
      Thanks Kathie,
      Blessings, Jeanne

  6. The dress is so pretty, so of course, it looks great on both dolls. I am leaning toward Caroline though, because 1. I have a Caroline doll so I am biased, and 2. Gosh, you could have picked the fabric to match the color of her eyes! Perfect match!

    1. Hi Linda,
Thanks for your comments about the girls. The dress does look very pretty on both girls and any owners of either doll should enjoy seeing it on their doll.
      Thanks so much
      Blessings, Jeanne

  7. Gee gosh, looking at these two, I love dolls.
I have Felicity. She does look beautiful in this dress, and yes indeed Caroline as well.
I think it is the lace collar and the sleeves. This dress looks so well made, it would surely look adorable on my cornish rex 6 pounds Princess. She is black and grey and the lace would just make her huge satellite ears shine. haha
I love the dress and the fabric.
Yes, I am a caregiver to my daddy, so there are not enough hours in each day, but I would love to bring out my dolls and play along

    1. Thank you Rosemary,
Well, you could buy it for your dear Felicity, and if she got tired of it, you could let Princess wear it. :o)
Maybe someday you’ll be able to come out and play!!!
      Thanks so much,
      Blessings, Jeanne

  8. Wow! They both look wonderful in this beautiful dress! I must say, I favor Caroline for the contrast between her golden curls and the muted shades of green of the dress. Both girls have green eyes that are flattered by the fabric. I think your idea of a joint modeling listing is perfect !
    Well deserved praise, Jeannie❤️

    1. Thank you Shara
It was too windy to get any pictures outside today…maybe tomorrow.
The fabric is a good choice for either girl
..I just wonder which doll to use for my gallery picture.
      Thanks Shara,
      Blessings, Jeanne

  9. Dorothy in PA

Dear Jeanne, I vote for Felicity. I agree with Charlotte. Felicity’s coloring seems more suited to the dress.
Here is a different idea for a model. Do you have any other 18 inch stuffed waisted dolls (Our Generation or Journey Girl)? You might try one of them, as the posting might appeal to a wider circle of buyers.
My Gotz girls (hard bodies) can wear some American Girl clothing. They cannot wear American Girl shoes those. Gotz girls have big feet (laugh).
I am sure that whichever model you select, she will look charming. The dress is very pretty.

    1. Hi Dorothy,
I don’t have any other soft bodied 18″ dolls so it will have to be between Felicity and Caroline.
I’m glad you like the dress so far… thank you!
      Blessings, Jeanne

  10. Another beautiful creation Jeanne. Absolutely love the fabric and the lace and I just don’t know who wears it best. Not to muddy the waters but what about Elizabeth? She is the only AG I have but her eyes are blue so not sure.

    1. Hi Leigh,
I forgot about Elizabeth, but she’s a Colonial girl too!! I might have to try it on Elizabeth just to see! :o)
      Thanks Leigh,
      Blessings, Jeanne

  11. Well, good morning. Felicity is charming in the dress. Should you remove the orange sleeve bows, then Caroline would step up on my list to model too. The bows just sort of jump out and don’t seem to go with Caroline’s coloring. Are you planning some outdoor photos? I think some outdoor shots would eliminate the muddy look, as my photo instructor used to say. Will there be a hair bow or hat added to the ensemble? Looking forward to seeing the whole picture. 🙂
Finally, we have sun. Yesterday, the clouds parted just in time to view and hear the fly over at the flags ceremony at the cemetery. They had a WWII plane from our Pacific Air Museum make a couple of low passes and then surprise, it did a triple loop before flying off into the clouds once again. It was amazing.

    1. Hi Joy,
I AM planning to take some outside shots but didn’t get anything done on the rest of this set before it got too late. It was too windy anyway…the dress would have been whipping in the wind!!
Glad the sun showed up today!! And talk about exciting to see that plane go overhead. I bet it took your breath away…
      Thanks Joy,
      Blessings, Jeanne

  12. I am casting a vote for Caroline. Her eyes are a fairly unique American Girl color and this dress brings that color out.
We have more rain and cool temps today. Water standing everywhere. Farmers are “most seriously displeased.”
I bought a bunch of carded vintage buttons at a flea market on Sunday. Some will be used on doll clothes. Some may find their way into button flowers I make and display in vintage salt and pepper shakers.
Still working on removing Julie’s wig. My 2nd replacement wig arrives today. Pictures soon.

    1. Hi Jillaurellia,
Thanks for liking it on Caroline. She’s glad you picked her as your favorite!!
I love to find vintage buttons!! Hope they work well for your projects.
Hope Julies wig is on by now.
      Blessings, Jeanne

  13. I really can’t choose on this one. I have neither a Felicity nor a Caroline and my MA Gracie is definitely a modern girl, so all I can say is let both model the dress and increase the appeal. My Gracie is hard-bodied. I do not have an AG and never really thought about them being soft-bodied and “stuffed”, but now I understand why the measurements vary with the AG 18″ dolls.

The dress is really beautiful and the back looks great. Can’t wait to see the ensemble totally finished. The weather here is hot and humid. Some rain expected later in the week. Last time they promised that it never happened, sure hope it does this time, but I’m going to have to water before then anyway just in case.

    1. Hi Barbara,
Well, since you don’t have either doll, you’ll just have to enjoy my pictures!
I liked the bscknpictures too…I thought it looked remarkably flattering on such s body body! :o)
      Thanks Barbara,
      Blessings, Jeanne

  14. A triple loop in a WWII plane — wow, Joy, that must have been something to see.

Let’s see, we are also having a survey about is it hot where you are, or rainy. Here the sun came out but it’s supposed to be mostly rain, so I’ll go with rainy.

Then there’s the dress and the doll. Emmie looks so beautiful in her outdoor picture that what I’d love to see is outdoor pictures for Felicity and Caroline. Currently I’d have to agree with Linda and the others who say the dress is lovely on both dolls and I think it would be just as pretty on a doll with brown hair. The ribbons go so well with Felicity’s hair and the color of the dress is especially nice with Caroline’s eyes. The accessories are going to be great fun to see and probably to make. If summer is coming, one of the lovely broad brimmed Williamsburg hats would be beautiful. I like this skirt width for summer. It looks as if Felicity could just skim along without worrying about something too heavy. We have a lot to look forward to tomorrow.

    1. Hi Marilyn,
There will be outside pictures, but it was too windy today…the natural lighting from outdoors will help everyone decide which doll they like it on the best. But I already think I’m going to use both girls in my listing.

I do have one of my straw hats sitting on her head right now…figuring out what to do.
      Thanks Marilyn,
      Blessings, Jeanne

  15. This reminds me of the feature I used to see in People magazine “Who wore it best?” I think it’s a beautiful dress with the pretty lace around the neck, but my choice is Felicity. Did you notice how the bows pick up her hair color? I have both Felicity and Caroline, and I think my Caroline looks especially good in more saturated colors. That’s just my opinion, though, and I’m sure the dress would appeal to anyone who owns either doll.

    1. Hi Carolyn,
Thanks for your thoughts…I am planning to take some outside pictures so maybe they will appeal to both doll owners.
I remember that feature in the magazine and think I did this once before with a couple of my dolls but can’t remember which ones!
      Thanks so much,
      Blessings, Jeanne

  16. I’m with Carolyn, the bows pick up the color of Felicity’s hair and the accent color in the fabric of the dress. I think you put the right fabric on the right doll. Now we’re waiting to see the accessories. That’s a lovely way Caroline’s hair is arranged.

    1. Hi Susette,
I did start this dress with Felicity in mind…but if I showed it on Caroline, I could skip her when her name comes up on my list.
Thanks so much for being eager to see what I come up with…
      Blessings, Jeanne
