Bailey’s faceup…Take Two!!!

I knew even before I went to bed last night I was going to remove Bailey’s faceup today. I thought I could do better and I think I have. Her eyebrows looked a bit too orange to me and the eyelid crease I did was too wide and too dark brown.

Joy, you were right, there was a white spot under her left eye… a shiny spot that had been sealed in and wouldn’t budge so that was the clincher to redo her…Also when you mentioned your Bailey (oops Amanda) had pretty brown eyebrows that went with any wig, I wanted that too! (I tried to copy and paste your picture of Amanda in her sweet bunny romper, but I couldn’t get it to load from the Meadow site…)

I went back to Hobby Lobby this afternoon and bought a tiny little paint brush that helped tremendously with some of the tiny details. I didn’t take very many pictures along the way this time…I was concentrating too much…

I made her colors a little bolder but a little softer…if that makes sense…I think she looks daintier than she did yesterday.

Her lips are a little more rose-like instead of being coral this time and I think the color will go better with more fabrics..

I gave her a mani and a pedi…French…no less!!

Here she is waiting for them to dry…

I’ve been waiting for her eyelashes to dry before I put her blue eyes back in…I’ve just about gotten this post written now…a few more minutes and we’ll see if I mastered it this time…

Let’s see some pictures okay? All of her face paint was removed with Winsor and Newton Remover using Q-tips and a soft cloth.

Once it was removed, all I could do was try again! :o) As I mentioned, I didn’t take many pictures this time… but here she is with her eyelashes being added… she still looks kind of funny if you ask me… I just bought some eyelashes at Walmart and only used about 1/3 of them. If I ever change my mind on them, it’s a pretty easy change… I might see about getting some “doll” eyelashes and change them, but for now, they are okay to me…

But when you add those pretty blue eyes, she comes to life again…

So let me show you how she looked before and then now…Of course the eyelashes make a BIG difference…

I was putting a gloss on her lips, but I’ll go check it now and see if she’s dry enough to try on some wigs… I’m as excited as you are to see how she looks! I hope I like her…

I used the same 3 wigs I used last night so you could see the difference…

I’m still not loving this off black wig… Nyssa wears it pretty well, but not Bailey…

…and little miss blondie!

Well, I think I like her… now to get something made for her.. too bad I missed the whole Easter season…Oh well, what’s next? Summer and the 4th of July! :o)

Thanks for taking a peek at my new girl…

See you tomorrow,
Blessings, Jeanne

What a difference! I agree, that brown line in the crease of the eyelid had been too heavy/dark; the new, thinner line is so much better. I like her lip color better, too, I think.

Although I’m not a fan of big eyelashes, for some reason, that dark wig looks better on her now! Go figure…..

I think my favorite wig is still the blonde one, though….I just think short hair looks so cute on little girls!

  2. I think the new eyebrow color is much better. Now, my favorite wig is the brunette. However, I’m not a fan of lashes this long on little girls. Kind of reminds me of the false lashes we used to stick on years ago. If she were mine, I’d probably trim the lashes in 1/2 at least, unless you want her to appear to be more teen like. The lower lashes are perfect now. Just trying to give input, not critical as you don’t see me even attempting to do this. I’ll send a pic of Amanda, if I can find it. Not very good with the computer either.
We have lovely weather so finally got back to pulling blackberry vines. And of course, just as allergy season rears it’s ugly head. Sneeze, sneeze.
Can’t wait to see Bailey modeling. Maybe a cute sports outfit or summer sleeveless dress. Anything really. Fun is ahead.

  3. I’m just in awe that you would do the faceup at all, so I’m okay with whatever you do. But I do agree that Bailey looks adorable now. I too like the short blonde wig and the eyelashes make her face pop.

I’m trying to be one of the first today because I have some questions about the Meadow dolls that I hope someone can answer. Is there a particular place people buy the wigs for the Meadow dolls? I had a wonderful site, I thought it was on Etsy, where there were several wigs actually on these dolls. I had pretty much picked out what I wanted but I hadn’t saved the site. In the meantime my computer updated and I haven’t been able to find the site again. The other thing is when I ordered my Lolla I got a confirmation from Paypal but I never got anything from the Meadow site. Is that common or did my order get lost in cyberspace? This is my first time with all this and I’m not sure how to ask that question of the Meadow people. I found Jeanne’s blog where she posted Joy’s information on the Meadow dolls, and it was very helpful, but I had these additional questions. Hope someone can help. I really, really can’t wait to get one of these wonderful dolls.

That out of the way, I guess there’s no question that Bailey is next in line for an outfit, lol. I like the idea of a 4th of July outfit. That’s next on my agenda too. I’ve got a ton of fabric and trim for that occasion but I’ve never gotten around to using it in the past. It’s definitely on my agenda this year, as well as bathing suits for everyone. I have the patterns from Pixie Faire for the swimming pool and pool accessories, but no one has a bathing suit, I just have patterns for everyone that haven’t been made yet. So much fabric and so little time.

Hope all is getting better with your family and your mom.

    1. Well, I’ll see if I can be of help. For wigs, Monique has a lot on their site. But, I often find a wig there and then try to view it on another doll on Ebay because their pictures are not always the greatest. There are Etsy sites with wigs as you mentioned. If you go to Etsy and type in Meadow Doll wigs or doll wigs, you might find the site you were on before. Often when people post on the Meadow Doll Face Book site, they are asked for a wig name. Or you can post and ask for the name/style. There are some really nice wigs made in France and some in China. Everyone is pretty helpful.
The Lolla dolls came from Charlene in the US. If you have Informed Delivery for the USPO, when the doll is being shipped, it will come up and you can track that way. It is easy to sign up for, and you can see all of your incoming mail and packages. It’s free. When the dolls are on preorder from Meadow in Sweden, she does not usually send tracking. The PayPal conformation is all you get. When it is about time for your doll to arrive, you will probably see posts on the Meadow FB site like, “Has anyone received their doll yet?” Or you can post and ask yourself when they will arrive. It is a long wait. 🙁 Often Meadow will respond and let everyone know the status. Like they are being painted, or will be shipping soon etc.
I’m no expert for sure, but a search on the Meadow FB often turns up lots of better answers than I can give.

      1. By my calculations, Joy, you are an expert. Thanks for helping me out which you did more than you know. I may have found the wig site I had from somewhere on the Facebook page. I wish I could remember. It was so helpful seeing the wigs on the type of doll I wanted to use it for. I will do Informed Delivery. Thanks for the suggestion. I check in with the Meadow site and Facebook page every now and then and will do it more often as it gets closer to when I expect my doll. They may take a while to arrive, but they are quicker than the Little Darlings and I’ve waited for two of them. I can do this. Thanks so much for your help.
