Check out who’s up next for a dress…

When I finished Ten Ping’s dress set, I wondered who might be up next for a dress… Laura was the only one who mentioned anything… SO I went with her suggestion. She recommended Kirsten as she couldn’t remember the last dress I had made for her. Actually I couldn’t either… bad mommy!!! :o(

Just in case you can’t remember what Kirsten looks like… :o)

Marilyn and Laura both hoped I would find time to make at least one more Fall dress so I was looking for something Fallish for Kirsten and this is what I came up with. A pretty navy and roses print with a nice salmom like colored print to coordinate with it.

I didn’t get much done on it because it was Rebecca’s birthday (yes, my baby turned 28!) and what she wanted was for me to finish her pile of alterations! She works out at a CrossFit gym and goes through tons of active wear, so I’m always shortening the capris or cutting the sleeves out of a tee or taking up the shoulders of a tank top. I had my work cut out for me, hence not very much was done on Kirsten’s dress.

I did get it cut out though and thought you might like the see the start of it.

This is the sleeve and cuff…well, it’s “going to be” the sleeve and cuff.

Can you guess what “this might be?”

Maybe I’ll have some time tomorrow to work on it… In the meantime, you’ll have to use your imagination…

See you tomorrow,
Blessings, Jeanne

  1. First of all, Happy Birthday to Rebecca! It certainly is important to put them in the spotlight on their birthday! Time sure flies, doesn’t it, concerning our kids? It seems they are the age you used to be yesterday!!LOL
Kirsten is one of the dolls I never had, but I absolutely love her and I especially love the outfits you make for her, Jeanne! She is the sweetest little thing, and seems so proper, ladylike and innocent, and your dresses for her always seem to emphasize that.

Well, now that dress sure takes some imagination to figure out what it will be like eventually! I especially like the last picture of her balancing a bolt of material on her head, like she is practicing being a model! I’m sure that will be some sort of a bonnet, but I’ll wait till Jeanne Marie does her magic with it and the dress! This should be a fun transformation to watch!

    1. How true about our children growing up. Our daughter will be out of high school 20 years next year. I met my husband when I was out of high school 15 years and both our children are older now than we were when we got married. Scary.

      1. Barbara,
I know what you mean about the time flying… surely it was 1990 just a few years ago, wasn’t it? I guess not…
        Thanks so much,
        Blessings, Jeanne

    2. HI Linda,
I’ll tell Rebecca you send birthday wishes… She’s a quiet gal so she never even told anyone it was her birthday…not at work or on facebook… she’s different! :o)

I’ll keep you guessing on Kirsten’s dress, but I see it being very pretty for her… you might be right about the bonnet… :o) but my lips are sealed…
      Thanks Linda,
      Blessings Jeanne

  2. Well, hello to Kirsten! and a happy belated birthday to Rebecca.
I really like the salmon and navy floral prints together, but was confused to see the neckband and sleeve cuff in another color. I enlarged both photos and then decided that perhaps that is the back side of the fabric? It may just be the lighting, but the lighter fabric doesn’t seem to go with the salmon color. I guess my eyes are more attracted to the brighter color which looks very nice on Kirsten. But, I’m sure when all is complete, the dress and bonnet will be amazing. I’ve always liked Kirsten, and in fact she may be my favorite AG doll.
Here’s a question. Has anyone ever removed hot glue successfully? I understand that using alcohol is a possibility, but I haven’t tried it yet. I want to rescue some items for dolls that were hot glued. I have never liked that stuff, but know it is widely used.
Wonderful weather ahead out here for the weekend. Such a busy time of year.

    1. HI Joy,
Trust me…the neck band fabric compliments both prints…it’s a tiny woven fabric and I’ve used it as a complimentary color before and it works… maybe I’ll have to take an outside picture to show you…but not today, it’s pouring outside.
So Kirsten just might be your favorite AG doll, but you don’t have her? Why, Joy, Why?
I do like her too… and sometimes I wish I had my original Kirsten back… her face was cuter to me… but she had turned yellowish and I thought I wanted a new one… this one is pretty and nice and has flawless skin but she just looks a bit different than what I’d like her to look.

I’m no help with your hot glue removal question… maybe someone will have an answer for you…. did you google it?
We’ve got rain today and it’s supposed to be our first frost warning on Sunday morning… I’m not ready for cold weather… I want FALL! Waaah!!!

      Thanks Joy,
      Blessings, Jeanne

  3. Good Morning Jeanne,
“Hartelijk Gefeliciteerd” it’s a dutch thing! We wish everyone congratulations and Happy Birthday during a family members Birthday because it’s a special day and it’s tradition. Family drops in all day long and you supply your own birthday cake.. that part I find kind of funny. I hope Rebecca had a wonderful Birthday and tell her best wishes for me please.
It’s my babys Birthday today … she’s 33 and she may hurt me if she knew I told : )
Jeanne I love the little shoes you’ve been working on they are ALL soooo adorable! Any Navi will be overjoyed to receive a pair or two ; )
I don’t want to admit it but I’ve been stalking the My Meadow page. I think I want gigi. Kristen will look stunning in her new Jeanne Marie Original.. love the colors, they will work for Fall but really could be perfect for Spring and Summer too.
    Happy Friday
    Hugs
    Ingrid

    1. Thanks for the “family birthday wishes” Ingrid! We went out for breakfast with Rebecca and then she did some shopping… She found some cute “headband” thingies that have those springy wires on them… you know like Martian antenna? She got one with a little black and orange hat… I mean a little bitty top hat… like 4″ big… and then she got a headband with some black bats and purple fur and googly eyes on them. Work lets them wear something like that but no masks… She works at the hospital… She was excited to find something fun to wear to spice up her uniform…

Kristoffer is turning 31 on Sunday…and he might hurt ME if he knew I was telling on him…
I’ve already put a down payment on a Honey Bailey in the Dumpling size… but I think it will be Spring before they are ready to ship. I’m going to paint her myself… (I ordered her blank)… Oh do let me know if you get one… We can wait together.
Are you on the Meadow Dolls Fan Club page or just their facebook page… Lots of things are always going on at the Fan Club page… I think there might even be a Giggi for sale on there from someone.
You might have to check it out.
Thanks for the compliments on Kirsten’s “barely started” dress. I hope to get back to it this afternoon and evening.
      Thanks Ingrid,
      Blessings, Jeanne

  4. If I was going to have an AG doll it would be Kirsten. She must the sweetest one of all. Those colors will be cute on her. Lovely combination.
I like this stage of having older kids….they are so helpful and independent. Now our g-kids are getting up there…the youngest is 11!
Better get busy..the sun is out!

    1. HI Kathie,
Do you have ANY AG dolls? I guess I thought you did? But the way you say that makes me think you don’t! Kirsten is a very sweet doll… just a perfect young lady! :o)
I’m not minding the kids being older, but sometimes I do miss it when they were younger…especially when it comes to holiday times…
Because neither of my kids are married, I am WAY behind in the grandkids department. But that’s okay for now! :o)
You’ve got sun…we’ve got rain! It’s pretty bleak looking outside! I better sew!! ;o)
      Thanks Kathie,
      Blessings, Jeanne

  5. Dear Jeanne, I like the colors you have chosen with Kirsten’s eyes. She will look adorable in her new outfit.
Seeing her reminds me that I still have not gotten to the new American Girl outlet in town. I will have to get there before the holiday rush.
    Have a great dolly weekend.

    1. HI Dorothy,
Thanks for the compliments on Kirsten’s “bodice and collar!” I hope to add something else to it this evening. We are going to Louisville KY next weekend and I was just looking on my phone to see if there was an AG store in town… I didn’t see one…
I’m determined to make it “some day” to one of their stores! Hope you get to yours!
      Thanks Dorothy,
      Blessings, Jeanne

  6. Happy belated birthday to Rebecca. My birthday is coming and I just found a whole stack of knit tops that are too long. May I send them to you to make them shorter as a birthday present? The alterations project is a wonderful present. She was smart to think of it.

What a good choice you’ve made for your next doll present. Was Kirsten’s last outfit for MidWinter? She’s beautiful and she deserves something good for waiting so long. I think some months ago you had a Kirsten show, proving that the colors we thought she was best in were not the only wonderful colors for her. I think salmon/coral will be new for her and it looks like a successful one. It’s a good change from tiny feet and shoes and will seem relaxing — and huge. Will it be a bonnet or cap this time?

    1. HI Marilyn,
You are so silly…I still have 2 pair of pants to alter for a man who dropped them off last summer. I finished 5 pair of them and have 2 to go. I need to get busy…then I have a few “other” things I need to make…
Believe it or not, I didn’t ever look to see what Kirsten’s last dress was, but you might be right, Mid Winter might be right… Yikes that WAS a long time ago…
I think these colors will be pretty on her… this blue fabric has been a long time favorite of mine for years… it’s very pretty in person.
Yes, tiny feet exchanged for a bigger foot this time… Maybe I should try some new boots for her in a pretty blue… hmmm…
      A bonnet or a cap… you’ll have to wait and see! :o)
      Thanks, Marilyn,
      Blessings, Jeanne

  7. Best wishes for your daughter’s Birthday. Time flies and you look at your children and marvel at what wonderful young adults they have become. They are truly God’s blessings to us. I like the material you picked for Kristen’s outfit and can’t wait to see what you make. Have a wonderful time with your family. God bless!!

    1. Thank you so much Carole!
Yes, my kids are blessings to us! I’ll pass on your birthday wishes to Rebecca.
I hope Kirsten”s dress set turns out like I hope it does.
      Thanks so much,
      Blessings, Jeanne
