A few dolly “decorations!”

I have NO IDEA what is going on with my posts… even my sister Cindy, was having trouble receiving them… She got one late in the afternoon… there seems to be no rhyme or reason as to when or who gets them. I don’t know what’s going on, but I hope I can talk to someone and figure it out… In the meantime, I’m sorry if you’ve been missing them…

As you know, I’ve been spending the majority of my time the last few days with my sister and niece over at my mom’s apartment… well, actually we’ve been here at my house quite a bit and even got some “shopping” time in too. You know… looking for more junk … I mean decorating accessories! I have some pictures to show you, but I got in tonight too late to take any decent pictures so I’ll have to wait until tomorrow when I have some light. I’m thrilled with a few changes around here and hope I can manage on my own now without Cindy. She’s helped me a lot and I hope I listened to what she said! She’s leaving 4:00a.m. Monday morning and I already miss her! :o(

Thanks for all your comments…I’ve read them all and enjoyed what you had to say so much!

BUT… since I can’t show any house decorations, I thought…”how long has it been since I showed any dolls in decorated dresses?” It’s been a while… even longer since I sewed anything! I have a list of my dolls and went through it thinking of the one dress for a few of the dolls that showed plenty of decoration! I hope you enjoy this slide show!

First up is little 7 1/2″ Riley…

Next up is lavishly decorated dress set modeled by 14″ Wren Pistashio…

This is 10″ Elin in a pretty blue and pink set with a wonderful vintage hankie used for an apron…

This is 18″ Nyssa, by Kaye Wiggs, in a sweet ruffled dress designed by me…

Here’s a white Regency dress on Elizabeth that I didn’t show the other day… You can tell I liked it a lot… here are FIVE pictures…

I’ve got to include one from the Civil War…okay…who guessed it would be the yellow one? :o)

Lets see something really sweetly decorated on the 13″ Little Darling Effner girls… here’s Lian…

Here’s Isabelle…

…and one for Janie…

I have LOTS more dresses with plenty of pretty decorations, but I’ll end with one for Ten Ping…

Well, I hope these “dolly decorations” are just as fun to look at as my “house decorations” were…

We are still trying to get back to normal around here… there’s still a lot to learn…

I’ll see you when I can,
Blessings, Jeanne

So many pretty ways to embellish a dress! I’m not sure if I can pick a favorite–I love the embroidery on Riley’s dress, as well as on Wren Pistachio’s jacket. The ruffles on Nyssa’s drses really set it apart, I think. But I think one of my all-time favorites is the little pink number that Lian is modeling!

It sounds like you’ve had a wonderful time with Cindy; her visit was pretty timely, coming when you no doubt needed a little break from the worry and the responsibilities of taking care of your husband just now. Prayers continue!

  2. It certainly is nice to hear that you and Cindy got to get things done and suggestions for you to follow, BUT, oh, those darling doll dresses! You are the bomb in making one of a kind dresses, and they are just perfectly done, every little thing! You also capture the personality of the dolls when you dress them, and the details are stunning! I love the way you fixed Elizabeth’s hair, so elegantly done, to go with the beautiful Regency gown!
Addy looks so sweet and perky in the yellow dress and straw hat, Lian looks so sweet and serious at the same time, in her pretty pink ruffled dress. Also, the embellished felt jacket on Wren, and felt hat on Elin and Ten Ping are little masterpieces in themselves! I love the way you can take any fabric and weave your magic with it to make a unique, one of a kind outfit! I really enjoyed seeing all these outfits, and hope to see you make more!

On the other hand, it’s HOT here, don’t you agree? Both you and George are in my prayers, and I hope you both have a good week! By the way, I received 2 blogs today, of the same thing! At least it’s better than none!

  3. Like Linda, I too received two copies. One, “I Dream of Jeanne” and the other just “Jeanne”. And they were both for today not your last blog. Interesting.
Looking forward to seeing your “junk” finds and your decorating photos. I tell you, Cindy would have a great adventure around here putting things together.
I think, if you were to make another dress similar to the Regency and have Elizabeth model, you’d have a top seller. It/she is stunning.
I’ve been doing a lot of sewing trying to keep up with Wren Feather’s Summer Sew Along. This is the last week, so when I’m done, I’ll send along a photo of my dolly outfits. This was the year of the pleats so several have those. I’ve learned a lot.
    Keep cool.

Dear Jeanne, pretty, pretty, pretty! I think I like Isabelle’s dress the most. I also like Nyssa’s dress. Your girls are the best dressed in town!

  5. Very fun to see the girls and all their finery.
So many pretty dresses, it eould be impossible to choose just one.
Regarding the notifications, I don’t get them very often anymore and often on the wrong days. I try to come and do a daily check to see if there is a new posting.
Hope everyone stays cool. It is crazy hot here in Michigan.
    Have a good day!
    Take care —

  6. While Charlotte, Jeanne, and Linda are melting, I’m going to go find one of my cool weather skirts. This is our third day of cold rain, and the lawns are so grateful for it. When it’s hot here, it’s hot and dry, so this long soak is much appreciated by lawns and gardens.
Aren’t the dresses beautiful? Of course I love Elizabeth’s white dress and Lian’s pink one. That’s one of my favorite Wren outfits too. Ten Ping’s moose is one of my favorite accessories, and that’s one of Janie’s prettiest hair styles.
I’m so glad Cindy could make the trip and all of you had this time together. It’s time for a new health report on George. I’ll bet he loved seeing all of you having a nice time together. A good time was overdue, and soon he’ll be having more of them as well.
Try to stay cool — lemonade, maybe, and a nap in the hottest part of the day?

  7. No worries on not receiving the posts. I have your blog bookmarked so I just go and check for updates. I don’t get to read the posts until after work anyway, and there are other blogs I have bookmarked so I just check each one while I am unwinding from work.
The decorations really do make the dresses, don’t they. I enjoyed each one. That Elin doll is really pretty!

  8. What beautiful dresses. Elizabeth looks so lovely in that white Regency one and of course, I absolutely love Addy’s. Sewing on all those tiny buttons must have taken quite a while.

  9. Laura’s right — those buttons must have taken a long time, and the spacing had to be perfect too. Some day you can give us a tutorial about perfect buttons.
We are in for more rain today, but not a lot, and the sun keeps going back and forth, under and between clouds. But yesterday had a really beautiful moment. It warmed up and the clouds covering the mountain rose quickly in a sort of cloud dance, leaving the mountains still misty below them. Later it cooled off, the clouds returned, and it rained hard and suddenly with big marble sized hailstones, but fortunately not many of them.
Are you coming up on another trip to St. Louis? It must be nearly time for another check-up. I’m hoping that George is feeling better as well as being better. Being cancer-free is such a wonderful feeling.
