Oh, gosh…still no update? I hope things are going well, and George is home from the hospital by the time you read this, Jeanne. You both are in my prayers.
I had a pretty normal weekend, except that Friday I met Leah at the church, and she got her new top cut out! She is looking forward to another sewing project, and soon she won’t need me to oversee much of what she does.
Saturday I practiced at church for today. Today, of course, was all the usual church activities–two services with lunch in between. Afterwards I went to the Hallmark store and got some cards, including a funny one for my brother, whose birthday is coming up. When I got home, I read for a while, and also worked in my sewing room– a little sewing, a little ironing. Nothing very exciting or unusual for me this weekend!

As far as my weekend, well, not much to say, since it has been so doggone hot to do much of anything outside of the house! I sealed my granite countertops, went to the grocery store, went to church, and changed a few of my dolls. Really exciting, huh?
We had a huge downpour, actually two of them yesterday afternoon about half an hour apart, which caused flooding on the streets, but it did knock down the temperature 10 degrees to 82, but oh my the added humidity was not fun! At least the grass is green!
I watched the very end of the FIFA soccer game, was happy for Spain, but sad for Argentina to come so far and then to lose.
We are leaving for the day to go to the place Peyton’s family gathers twice a year. It is about 25 miles from us. His grandfather started signing up to this hunting, fishing place and the family had kept it up. I am taking my cheese grits
for the breakfast and we will stay until after supper if it isn’t too dark to drive home. Hope Y’all have a great day.

Well, good morning everyone. It’s seven AM and I’m still not fully awake. Looks like everyone survived the weekend and accomplished a lot of different things.
Here, it doesn’t seem like we got much done at all. Still have that drip under the kitchen sink. But, I did a lot of package tracking. My wayward packages that arrived in Chicago instead of LA, finally surfaced once again after a container ride back to CA which ended up in LA. Well, Vernon, which is close. One has made it north to Newark and is, I can’t believe it, Out for Delivery! So, I expect that a package will end up on the door mat today. Yay, because it is Rosa from Ruby Red. Poor thing will be awfully tired from her very long trip. So, I will have to be on alert. It is very hard to sneak anything past other person now. I believe that he is on alert too. And since there is no time frame on these deliveries, it could be on the porch already, or later this afternoon. Can’t wait to see her though. She is part of the RRed new core line.
Caught the game yesterday. Well, the parts that I wanted to watch. Other person was pretty glued to the screen. I’ll tell you that Spain really dominated with shots on the goalie. The goalie from Argentina, is the one responsible for the game being tied and going into overtime. He is the best goalie that I have ever seen. Amazing really to watch him work. But, in the end, Spain with it’s power wrangled through and finally got in their shots. So well played by both teams.
We did manage to make a trip to Kohl’s, after our stop at the other house to play with Coco kitty. Any time there is a forty percent off day, we usually go to Kohl’s to take a look. I’d been watching a green tee which ended up at four dollars, I think. I also found a very nice small frame on clearance, plus forty percent off. It is round and has decorative wood beading. I want to put a pic of the grands in it, I think. And we finally found a new front door mat that I sort of like. With Charlotte, the black tuxedo from next door and Callie Cat hanging around there a lot, it was time for a new one. On sale and then another forty percent off sealed the deal.
Did the usual gardening and this morning I have blackberry thorn sore fingers. I was stabbed in a couple of places. Will this weeding ever end? Very doubtful.
I’ve had George and Jeanne, on my mind and hope that all is well this morning. I’m sure that we will hear something soon and that it will be good news.
Heading out to check for front porch. Got to keep an eye out!
Stay alert Joy. Perhaps you could turn on the tv and “rewatch” the game. That usually brings the guys back in focus on other stuff. I am so happy you have a baby arriving today!!!!! That is super exciting!
The weeding never ends.
I am working on flag blocks, almost done and then I could make a zillion Bow blocks to make a quilt called American Sweetie.
I brought a lot of sewing projects down stairs, along with my Featherweight and the mechanical White machine with the walking foot attached. Down stairs looks kind of junky and messy. I should focus on that.
I am missing my younger daughter with the 4 babies. It is painful. I believe it has been 4 years now. I am so sad. I will try to be happy and perky though.
I am also kind of foggy today. Kitty Princess is on the porch. I have a lot of things I could be doing. when I do not make a list, I just kind of go into my unfocused do 5 things at the same time. I will try to finish the flag blocks.

I join everyone else in hoping everything is going smoothly for Jeanne and George. The weather is not helping. I hope they have AC or a lot of fans or both. Linda’s weather sounds miserable. Ours is too hot, but it’s at least dry — well, too dry — lawns are turning brown.
I bought the Western Flowers outfit from AG and gave it a 3 star review, headed “Cute but Tight,” because it suffers from AG’s notorious skimpiness with fabric, making it difficult for a child to put it on a doll. The headband is so tight that I felt I was being mean to try and, in fact, I substituted another headband.
Surprise. AG has offered me a refund if I send the outfit back. Of course, they want to remove the review. I think it’s a fair warning. The outfit is cute if you have a thin doll and are or have an adult to dress the doll. Western Flowers is the one with overalls with ruffled shoulders.
So, are you going to send the outfit back? I wonder if it would fit another doll better? Aren’t AG’s each stuffed a bit differently? I wonder if an exchange would bring a slightly larger outfit? Just curious. But it is great that they have offered a return. Hope they pay the shipping though.
Good morning, everyone. Still in the 90’s here in our neck of the Texas woods! News is predicting a week of high 90’s and a couple of days over 100. Daughter wanted to apply the lawn fertilizer WITH the fire ant killer in it, but with Saturday so hot, she waited until just after 7 pm, when we wouldn’t be baking under the sun! We have a really small lawn and It didn’t take long, so then she used her new rechargeable bush trimmer and trimmed the overgrown bushes in front of the house and next to the AC unit.. We were losing sunlight soon and I decided to trim back the two rose bushes, also in front of the house….but I forgot to grab garden gloves and since the sun was setting, decided to just keep going until they were done. Ouch! Never again without gloves! I then started trimming the dead leaves clustered at the large Gerbera plant and discovered a NEW large fire ant mound right in the middle of the Gerbera plant….had two painful bites on my fore finger before brushing others off quickly….and then we applied fire ant killer to the mound. They are really bad this summer. Hoping the lawn application helps.
I had finished reading the book “Hail Mary” this weekend and daughter had a dart evening with her friends, and she didn’t really care to watch the movie….so I did watch it while she was gone! My other two daughters had seen it and said it was good….but I prefer the book so much more! The book does get into a lot of scientific, problem solving details using oxygen, nitrogen, elements, etc, and as I did not excel at science classes, some of the descriptions were like reading a foreign language to me….but the book has so many details, and conversations, and humor that the movie glossed over. The book built you up for the experimental results by explaining in detail what the thought process was behind them, whereas the movie seemed to rush you into the final results of processes. When you read a book, your mind conjures up the settings, people and circumstances by descriptive words. And I found the background music in the movie to be disturbing to me…..because outer space travel is quiet and reading a book is a quiet experience. But then I guess today’s movies use music, spectacular lights at times, and rushed scripts because people expect this? They really compressed and edited the book though to cover a movie script. I still liked the book better!
Back to the sewing machine today for me….I have a baby quilt to work on for the new Great-grandson baby!
We’ve used the fertilizer with the ant killer for several years and it worked great. They are bad this year. We’ve had a lot of rain and that seems to make them worse. I also think it makes them meaner. I always wore gloves when I weeded because of them. Then I would check my gloves regularly so I did not end up with a handful of them. They’re sneaky little things.
I join my fellow Sofa Sisters in sending prayers and wishing well for George and Jeanne. Not hearing anything is worrisome.
I’m trying to do more around the house to keep moving so nothing exciting here just routine laundry and tidying up. At present I do not lead a terribly exciting life. But I am trying to get back to sewing because I think that in itself would be good therapy for me since I find it relaxing and always enjoy it so much. I sorted and filed some patterns that I had downloaded. The process got away from me but now I can stand better to get to things easier and so finally got the project finished. Now I’m about to embark upon a difficult journey. Well maybe not that difficult. I decided my dolls are too scrunched up on the top of my entertainment center (which is also an electric fireplace) that used to hold a TV but I gave the TV to Skyy when I decided I don’t watch TV while sewing so it was in the way. I decided it would make a good display table for my dolls and it did for awhile. Until so many joined the family that now I can’t see where they are on the table or I knock others over trying to get to one doll. Sooooo, I ordered some open front stacking boxes to use for my fat quarters and will put those on top of the entertainment center and move the small and moderate sized dolls to the shelf now holding the fat quarters. Then I will put all my RRFF dolls on top of my treadle machine where I can get to them more easily and my 18″ AG Truly Me and my 19.5″ Gotz Hannah will stay on top of the entertainment center to “hide” the fat quarters. They are my only two large dolls. Hopefully it won’t take me too long to get this done so I can get to sewing. I have a jumpsuit ready to go as soon as I’m finished.
I’m seeing some light at the end of the PT tunnel. I think we finally have loosened up some of the muscles that went dormant from my stress last year. I wouldn’t believe stress could do that but that’s apparently what happened since I wasn’t in any kind of accident that would cause that to happen. I had a great day Saturday but slept on my left side too long Saturday night so did not have such a good day yesterday but seem to be much better today. Just a little stiff on the left side but it’s manageable.
Sounds like most of my Sofa Sisters are very productive and have a lot of fun things to do so I’ll live vicariously for a while yet.
How nice that you can rearrange your dolls. I don’t have a dedicated space for all of mine. Just a few shelves that are not nearly enough. I’d love to see some pics when you have everyone rearranged. 🙂

It’s always nice to have the overcast skies to help lower the temps but when rain comes with it the humidity definitely fills the gap. Yuck!
