Well… not quite how I wanted this to go…

HI everyone,
My day was pretty busy from start until now… it’s still not over and yet, it’s time for bed… as soon as I get this written.

Reuben had his vet appointment with about 5 new x-rays taken by this new clinic we are taking him to. The vet showed us the x-rays and pointed out 2 different spots in his spine where there was something going on. He said it could be a herniated disc, a slipped disc, a bulging disc, but without an MRI, it’s just a guessing game. He gave us some options and we chose just to continue with the Prednisone and see what happens down the road. Reuben seems perkier, and his legs appear like he is walking in the video I shared, but in real life, he is just as limp as he was 3 weeks ago. He knows he is supposed to move his legs, but it’s mostly just a reflex or instinct to know that one foot goes in front of the other. So, until he gets some strength and muscles back, he spends most of his time in his bed. We know he is bored out of his mind… you can just tell it from his face. And so we wait… :o)

I didn’t make it into my sewing room until almost 9:00 tonight, and I thought I had things under control… but EVERY seamstress has times like this…

My plan was to make a simple white fur capelet for Natasha. Sound simple? I thought so too… well, I couldn’t find my pattern for the Little Darlings, so I had to draft another one.

Here’s where my title comes into play… They always say, if you see capital letters being used, it generally means the person is screaming… well here goes… “I SEWED THE TULLE LINING OF THE FUR COAT TO THE WRONG SIDE!” Waaaaaa!!!!

I can’t imagine picking those tiny white stitches out of that fluffy white fur.. so I’m going to bed, and will deal with it tomorrow!

I thought I could at least show you my mistake and then show it on Natasha even though it’s wrong…

Here is a glimpse of Natasha and how it was (sort of) SUPPOSED to look…

I used a different setting on my phone and am curious to see how it looks when I see it on my blog…

If you can be patient with me, I’ll try to correct this crazy mistake of mine…and I will see you tomorrow,
Blessings, Jeanne

Well, it’s not really Good news for Reuben, but not horrible, either. He’s such an active little guy normally, I’m sure this is hard on him, too.

That white capelet is going to be so cute with Natasha’s dress, but I totally understand what you are talking about, Jeanne!! It can be so frustrating to make a mistake like that, but sometimes that happens when we’re tired. You did the right thing, to set it aside and wait until tomorrow to look at it again.

Out here in the Seattle area (aka “rain city”), we had 1″ of rain just today, with much more on the way. We are in the middle of two atmospheric rivers, which are dumping rain here all week long, and today we had some pretty good wind gusts, too. The Snohomish River (Snohomish is NNE of Seattle) is at or near flood stage, and they are predicting it will end up breaking records for the high-water mark. (If memory serves, I think they said a few years ago it got to 33 feet, and it’s projected it could get a bit higher than that.) Fortunately where I live is very near the highest point in our county, so I have no worries about flooding here, but the Snohomish River runs thru the town of Snohomish, and it could affect them. There are also rivers in a few other counties that will be getting to flood stage in the next few days, too, if the rain keeps up as it has been.

Poor little Reuben, not knowing what is going on and being bored! At least you know somwhat what the problem is, but that really doesn’t solve anything. Can he be propped up by a window so he can look out? Anything to give him something to look at besides the floor and walls!

I love that little cape! I made one for my daughter and myself when we had long Christmas dresses, and right now I have another one hanging on a dress form over an American Girl dress from long ago, and it is also white fur! It goes with the Rosey Red outfit, that both granddaughters wore when they fit in size 3! I never could get rid of it and it brightens the doll room!

Oh, I could easily make a mistake like that Jeanne, and completely understand! I have no doubt that you will fix it, even though it doesn’t look like a “fun” project.

Oh my, Charlotte, all that rain during the holidays! How do people get their outside decorations up? I’m glad you aren’t in the flood plain, but so many others will be, and such a downer during Christmas time!

  3. The cape looks good.
Poor sweet Reuben. does he like tv? you tube has nature videos, bird nests, and other several hour long videos for dogs and cats. Princess enjoys the bird feeder ones.
I am glad you can at least continue the physical therapy, I think that is a good idea. Also just some range of motion exercises for his legs and hips, if he is not in pain.
He needs lots of kisses. I am bummed about this, but praying Reuben makes a recovery.

The cape looks superb. I made a bunch of these for weddings in the past.
Your camera. Do you have an iPhone? can you google the camera operation guide on your computer? There should be some tips, the lens is more and more refined but so many settings.
I do think the photos look clear today. The edges and details appear much finer today
Love to all of you. It is cold here, going only up to 33º and cloudy. I had an echocardiogram scheduled this morning but it was cancelled because the tech was sick. So, now I have to busy myself with priorities.

As to the pics, I don’t see a lot of difference, but maybe slightly. They are well, grainy. So, they are sharp when you view on your phone, but the clarity drops when they are added to the blog? Are they being added from your phone directly or from your computer? I’m having the same problem. There must be a key somewhere.
The cape is adorable. Accidents happen, but I’m sure Jeanne, will find a fix. It is the perfect accessory for little Natasha. I’m not even noticing the black accent today. Sorry to be so critical, but with the cape, all is well. I still think that a little jingle bell demur bracelet on her wrist would be sweet. I’m wondering if Jeanne might want to sell capes in her Etsy shop? One of the Ruby Reds here would love one should they be for sale.
I’m not sure what to think about Reuben. Should it be decided to do an MRI, did the vet say what they could do to fix him up? MRI, surgery, are there any guarantees that this would work? Will continuing with Prednisone correct the problem? I think that you might need a GoFund me account set up for Reuben. I’d do it if I knew how.
Another very cold morning here with fog and no sun so far. We did see a few rays yesterday late. And no rain here at all. Sure wish that Charlotte, could send a little rain down this way. Very sorry to hear about the flooding in her area.
I finally got organized and started the Christmas cards yesterday. One done. That’s it. Hope to get more underway today. Guess we should take the truck to the other house and bring the Christmas tree down. Still have my pumpkin on the dining room table. Not sure how to cut it open to retrieve the seeds. Probably need an ax to do that since it is an heirloom varietal. Then, I’ll take it to Becky next door for her chickens. They love pumpkin.
Layer up everyone. It’s cold outside. 🙂

I love this beautiful little dress. And it looks so perfect on Natasha. Can’t wait to see what you put in her hair. I love those sweet little shoes. Where did you get them? I haven’t seen any like them and I’m always looking at shoes since I have a lot of dolly feet to shod.

So sorry to hear Reuben may have a problem that can’t be easily fixed. The hardest part would be not being able to explain to him what is going on. I wanted so much to be able to ask my Cocker Chelsy how she felt as she got older. Was she in pain? She didn’t seem to be but she began sleeping a lot and she had always been so active.

With everyone mentioning how long it had been since Rebecca and Karn had visited I started thinking back to the last time I saw my daughter in person. It was when my grandson was a little over a year old. He’s eight years old now. How do I manage? I guess I’m good at long-distance relationships, but I am glad for the ability to make video calls these days. Makes it seem like I’m there. Once when we were talking she propped her phone up and went on with her life preparing dinner, etc. It was kind of like I was hanging out with her in her kitchen. Another time she had things to do at their Airbnb cabin so she took me along by phone and we talked while she prepared the cabin for new arrivals. Maybe that’s it. I’ve got a great imagination. With her being in Maine with an Airbnb and a wedding venue to manage, it’s hard for her to get away and traveling for us is difficult with David having to do so many things to get ready to build the houses. But I’ll take what I can get and be glad for that.

Cold weather here right now but spring is due to arrive tomorrow and stay until Saturday. The weather here is definitely a roller coaster ride.

That outfit is lovely, and reworking the cape won’t be half as bad as dozens of repair/remake jobs you’ve done.

Rosemary’s idea of TV for Reuben sounds excellent. And your sling gives him some useful PT.

My Christmas present to me is a PC Kirsten. She must be close to 30 and is in nice shape for that. She was clean and her coloring is good. I had to remember how to braid her hair, which is dry on the ends, but her bangs are perfect. I have all her clothes — Kit’s been standing in for her. Her middle name is Solvig (following the sun, according to a name website), so she’s getting custom seasonal tee shirts — the current one is for the winter solstice. She will need to be restrung, but for now she’s settling for tight jeans.

Oh, congrats on your new Kirsten. I’d love to see a pic of her in her new tee shirt. 🙂

I got here so late I wonder if anyone will see it, so I will do better tomorrow. I went upstairs to work on my Kish things, and got so busy, they time got away from me. I will be glad when I can have them ready to see.
