Hi everyone,
I received these pictures from Marilyn and wanted to share them with you. They look so beautiful and peaceful! Hope you enjoy them.
This is what Marilyn shared about her pictures…
I thought you’d like to see these. D-Day is Janeane’s birthday, and these were from her birthday trip. The first 2 pictures are from the Grand Lake area. The 2nd one shows a baby moose.
Pictures 3 and 4 are from Trail Ridge road — the highest road for the longest distance in the US. They call these mountains 14ers because they are 14,000′ high. Anne can tell us how high her mountains are, but probably hers start at sea level, and our capital city is 5280 (a mile) high — we’re in the middle of the continent — and our mountains have a big head start.
They are called the Rocky Mountains because, well, look…
Marilyn also sent me something fun… just for my hubby, but I loved the big rooster too! This was from the lady’s blog post… “Civil Discourse” by Joyce Vance
“This woman usually talks politics but sometimes features chickens instead. I thought they’d inspire George.”
This was the lady’s blog post:
I’m turning in early tonight after a full day devoted to fun, friends, and finding the best ice cream—today’s pick was fresh ginger, and it was fabulous. I’ll be back in the morning with the weekly roundup.
We haven’t had chicken pictures for a while. Either I’ve been on the road, or it’s been pouring down rain in Birmingham. But here’s a down payment on pictures I’m hoping to be able to get this week if the rain will ease up.
I did, however, feel seen on the ice cream excursion today, when this handsome gentleman manifested.
Thank you Marilyn,
You live in such a pretty state!
Blessings, Jeanne

First of all, thank you to everyone for your kind comments yesterday about my pictures. I replied to everyone this afternoon, and then tonight I checked back and saw Jane’s comment, so I have replied to that, also. I hope I didn’t skip anyone!
Thanks for sharing Janeane’s pictures, Marilyn. How wonderful, to capture a picture of a baby moose!! That would be a real treat.
The Rocky Mountains are certainly impressive. Although we have mountains out here, too, I don’t do well going up into them–heights are a problem for me–so I either stay in the greater Seattle area, or I fly over them! When Ron was alive, he would drive, and when we got to scary parts, I would put my head down in a book so I didn’t have to look! Thinking back, I’m not sure how my dad managed to drive thru them on our trips to/from Michigan, because he didn’t have much of a head for heights, either!
The chickens are fun to see; I particularly like the one with the orange ruff around his/her throat. So pretty! And yes, that certainly is a handsome gentleman in the last picture!! Thanks for sharing.
Thanks Charlotte, on your comments from yesterday. Just returned from taking a look. 🙂
And there are new 12 1/2″ dolls coming out from Ruby Red. Lots of clothes too. Take a look. They are on the RRed site and are listed for $47.00, I think. Not that I need more dolls. 🙂
I saw that, Joy. Sooo tempting!!
Thank you for the lovely photos, Jeanne and Marylin! I loved being in the Rockies years ago. When I was a teacher I was sent there for a 2 week workshop. It was so fun and on the weekend they took us up to the mountain and I experienced what it was like to walk with less air! They also took us to a rodeo and it was a really hot day. I was more used to that kind of temperature than some of the people and some of them fainted! After the 2 weeks was over I went to my nieces who lived in Denver and we went on a river ride. That was REALLY fun. Thank you for bringing back a wonderful memory.
I have made 6 of the Peach/blueberry pies I gave y’all the recipe for and will make just 2 more. It is nice to reach into the freezer when you need a pie.
Also today it is the day to cut Peyton’s hair. I have been thanking the LORD that I am getting back my energy.
Wait — I’m head of Linda today. She’s probably writing now and when I’m done, I’ll find her comment beats mine.
My sister’s name is Janeane, pronounced Ja-neen. My dad made up the spelling. Creative spelling is always a problem for teachers and the people who read names at graduation. She always knows when her name comes up by the long pause before the speaker mispronounces it.
When I was teaching, I also worked at the college library, where many international students also worked. I’d get my role list and then get students to help me pronounce ethnic names. My favorite international episode was when one of our 3 colleges had a visiting researcher from Egypt and wanted a library tour. “I’m assuming you’d like that in Arabic?” I said, knowing that one of our long-time student workers could handle that nicely.
Charlotte said she didn’t drive in the mountains. Neither do I. Heights bother me and I have depth perception problems, so I have to drive slowly on curves, and mountain roads are narrow, so, out of courtesy to other mountain visitors, I refrain from driving there. However, I m fortunate in having friends who like company on their drives. I can usually convince them to let me buy lunch.
Still no Linda?
I see that I should have proofread more carefully. I’m AHEAD of Linda this morning. But probably not for long.
Ha, ha, Marilyn, yes, you beat me to it! I had forgotten to charge upmy iPad, and it was still not available for me to write earlier, but I’m here now!
What beautiful pictures, Marilyn! Such wonderful ones of the baby and mother moose. I too, have memories of the Rocky Mountains, when we visited our son who lives in Denver. We went up on Trail Ridge Road, and that was a treat, but it got me a bit dizzy seeing such sharp up and downs of the mountains! While it was summer, we did see and get to walk in snow here and there while in the mountains. What a treat for those of js who usually don’t see snow in summer!
Janeane is certainly the traveler! But it is wise for her to do it while she can. I keep thinking her name is pronounced Jane Ann, ut see that is wrong. I guess she gets that a lot? Yes, those fancy spellings really do trip teachers up when trying to pronounce them! I made sure my two had names that were instantly recognized and able to pronounce,……and spell!
Thank you for sending the pictures to Jeanne, and to Jeanne for showing them! Jeanne, I hope things are getting better for both of you, Prayers!🙏🏻
Most mispronouncers call Janeane “janey ann.” Jane Ann at least makes sense.
I’m glad you are safe and well. If we hadn’t heard from you by noon, I would have been asking Jeanne if we should call the St. Louis police. The problem with being reliable is that when you don’t appear, people panic. The first and most likely current reason for a disappearance is a computer problem. I need to remember that.
Good morning dear ones.
Jeanne, I hope you and George are managing, I hope he is feeling better and stronger.
Marilyn, thank you for sharing these gorgeous pictures. I love the baby moose. Baby animals are so cute. These pictures are really lovely. Please thank Janeane for sharing these with you.
I love the chickens too.
Today is going to be 95º here, yesterday was so humid.
Kitty Princess (indoor only) is completely in love with her new screened in porch. I spent about 10 minutes out there yesterday and it was just too hot and humid. I have the sliding door open about 4 inches so she can slip in and out. And yes, I found some thick plastic and created a strip to block all of the warm air coming inside. It is not fancy but does the job.
I am not going anywhere! Too hot.
I hope all of you have a comfortable happy day. — “hugs all around” 🤗
Thanks so much Jeanne, and Marilyn. Sister Janeane’s photos are fabulous. My favorite was the meese. They look adorable, but don’t think they are very friendly. 🙂 Other person’s father was born in Salida, CO. There are relatives all around the Denver, area as they moved there when the narrow gage railroad shut down many years ago. I’ve only visited Colorado, once, and loved it. The 14ers are amazing. Such a picturesque state.
Here, it was hot yesterday, and today should hit triple digits. But, the AC is in and functioning very well if yesterday was any indication. It cooled down overnight nicely with the windows open, and this morning is clear and calm. Getting ready to close up the house and want to get in a walk before the heat advances. I think I watered my little seedlings at least four times yesterday to keep them damp. So hot out there. Callie Cat loved the cold wet cat food I gave her. Kind of a kitty popsicle.
And we have a date next week to have the two trees removed at the other house. I am so going to miss the shade, but both trees are in poor shape, near the house, and need to go. The one in the side/back is going to be tricky. Huge and hanging over the house now. We have a lot of stuff to move out of the way before then. But, that will have to wait until it cools down.
Coco the cat was waiting at the other house as usual yesterday and no evidence of any fight with Frederick, the tux up the street, so that was good. I have no idea how we will be able to keep Coco, out of the way of the tree cutters. Should be interesting.
Hope that Jeanne and George are getting some rest here and there. Take care you two.
I’m sorry I did get to comment yesterday to you, Charlotte. Busy morning and then the day got away for me. Your snapdragons are lovely. It was very nice to see the dolls you and your friend have. I remember getting Magic Attic catalogs along with many other doll ones when my daughter was young, but we went with Pleasant Company because of the historical aspect of books, clothing, and tiny replicas.
Your quilt is so pretty as well.
Beautiful photos, Marilyn. I love the baby moose by the meandering stream. The Rocky Mountains are breathtaking.
Janeane visits so many wonderful places. My friend’s daughter’s name is pronounced Ja-neen as well, but spelled Jeannine.
Feels like a sauna outside. Of course my kitties, 100% indoor are lounging in the AC. The porch kitties have shade, soft towels, and a block of ice in their water.
That’s okay, Laura; I definitely understand about busy-ness, and time getting away from one!! Thank you for your nice comments. I was happy to have a few photos to share!
Well, I am sitting outside now on the porch with Princess Kitty. Did I mention she comes into the house through the small hole where the door is open, (and I made a thick plastic panel for the top part) She comes in about every 20 minutes to beg us to come outside with her.
I am outside NOW and it is very very warm, but our porch is in the shade and we have some kind of a breeze, so it is tolerable, but not pleasant. I feel like taking a NAP!
I just read all of the comments from yesterday. I love all of the back and forth.
I am a weirdo mad person too.
I wonder what some people do all day around here in my new neighborhood?
We are putting our old house on the market in two weeks. We have a peppy real estate agent and she is gonna help us. We gave her the key!!!
This afternoon I made a Betty Crocker blue berry muffins package to make an 8×8 cake and even added half of a bananas. It is so good I could eat the whole thing.
Sitting out here made me feel really sleepy. I think I will go inside now and have a cuppa coffee and put that cake away!!!!
Joy, good luck with the trees getting removed. It will be a huge change, but I hope you discover some positives.
Stay cool and comfy all of you.
Beautiful pictures of the mountains. The Rockies are spectacular! Years ago we spent time there – somewhere I have a picture in the summer of us standing in the snow!
I’m sure Marilyn’s daughter loved it. What a great trip for her.
Oh the chickens were so funny!! I hear chickens understand friendship, faces and that they teach their chicks things. I’d love to have a chicken as a pet actually. Just we’re not in neighborhoods where people would accept it.
Jeanne, enjoy the ice cream day!!
Paula, Janeane is Marilyn’s sister!
