Hi again everyone,
You’ll have to visit with everyone again today…

Oh, Jeanne, we were hoping for a little smidgeon of news today–maybe that George is home and doing better. But it seems more likely that he’s in the hospital (although I have no way to know that), and perhaps some new challenges have surfaced. I trust you will let us know, at least off the blog, when you have something to share.
So, chatter….Well, not really dolls or sewing, but I’d been having trouble with swelling in my ankles and feet, so let the cardiology dept. know and they discontinued one of my two new BP meds. And suddenly–I have ankles again! So that is a bit of good news.
In regard to some comments about lessening of energy, etc., as well as changing of interests in some kinds of crafting, from yesterday’s blog, I have to add that I am among the “lessening energy” category, but I am still sewing and knitting. I haven’t done counted cross stitch for a while, but I do have one project I am hoping to Some Day get finished. Originally it was to be for my dad for Christmas, and he died in 2005, so you know how long it’s been a WIP (work in progress)!!
And I have done a little scrapbooking–my biggest project was redoing our wedding album back in 2013. It was falling apart, so I got a new album and now, instead of just pictures in a book, the pictures are highlighted with little paper cutouts here and there, and some are on special decorative paper. When I had originally shown Ron some of the papers and things I’d bought for it, he seemed, well, underwhelmed! But in 2013 he was in the hospital for 2-1/2 weeks with first diverticulitis and then colon surgery, and while he was there, I would come home and work on the album. I got it all done and brought it up to show him on May 17th, the day he had 3′ of his colon removed, which was the day before our anniversary. His surgery was scheduled for later in the morning/early afternoon, so I brought it up to him and told him I had an early anniversary present for him. He said, no, I haven’t had time to shop for you yet….and I said, this isn’t anything I bought, and I gave him the album. He loved it!! 💖💖💖 His surgeon wanted to see it, too, and was impressed. The surgery was successful, and Ron lived another 11 years afterwards.
Mostly, though, I make cards (as some of you have seen in a past blog post) with my scrapbooking supplies. I still need to put my African pictures in an album–those have only been waiting since 1999!! 😂
Yesterday I shared a link to the new Ruby Red doll (fan edition Heidi), and Joy mentioned Catriona, who is also available on pre-order for a limited time. I looked at her, too, but her eyes are too light, I think. Then I noticed Mira, the Russian girl who is still available, and she’s really pretty. But…I have always liked the story of Heidi–I read it as a child, and later saw the movie with Shirley Temple. So even though this doll doesn’t have blond hair like Shirley did, I am kind of leaning towards Heidi. And she is to be shipped the end of January, which would make her my birthday present!! Stay tuned!
Oh, a new RRed. What a great birthday gift. I haven’t been able to decide on one yet. Mira is available right now, I believe. Could be a Halloween present? 🙂
Jeanne, you asked us to chatter, so chatter we will! You and George are in our prayers and thoughts as always!❤️
Speak of Heidi, I always loved that story as a little girl, and I have the Shirley Temple movie, that I bought to watch with my granddaughters when they were small. Since I also have Swiss heritage, it always appealed to me, and adding Shirley Temple to it just makes it better! In fact I have the whole set of Shirley Temple movies, when they came out at Sam’s. We loved them all!
As far as sewing, quilting, etc., I am doing nothing of the sort! We have been busy outside putting the outdoor furniture away, cutting back plants, and keeping up with the leaves, which have suddenly started dropping at an alarming rate! As far as color, they aren’t doing much, but slowly getting started. Yesterday’s high was 92, of all things, but today we have rain and cooler temps, and it will really plunge down in a day or two.
I will start taking down my 40’s girls scene at the pumpkin patch and dressing them up for Halloween. Boy, is that a project, with every little detail, shoes, socks, costumes, masks, headpieces, things to hold, then putting everything they now have on away in the right places! And of course, everything must have a theme, and the colors have to coordinate with each other! Plus, you might have special little things to put around d them, if I have room. It’s a job in itself!
Oh too, I will be painting some parts of the woodwork around the house, like around the doorframes, that have gotten worn. Always something!
How exciting to look forward to Linda’s girls getting ready for Halloween. I’m sure that they are thrilled too. I can’t imagine all the work involved in putting away the current settings/outfits etc. and moving on to the next big day and putting on costumes and finding the perfect accessories. But, just know that I for one, will be thrilled to see the results. 🙂 Thank you in advance.
Good morning Dear ones 🥰🎃
Jeanne and George, you know both of you remain in our prayers. I hope George is comfortable and recovering.
Well not much is going on here. 😐 I have been sewing and doing weekly chores, and avoiding things I do not feel like doing. It was warm here all day yesterday and in the evening we had to run the air conditioning for about ten minutes a little bit to kind of get some fresh air flowing around this house. (Hmmm. This house is much darker and not so great with air flow as with our old house.)
I am pressing the flags and bows quilt and prepping it for the long arm quilter. They are kind of slow in responding to my email but that is okay. They must be very busy people.
I need to make a vet tech appointment for KittyPrincess, she needs her feline virus vaccine…. not crazy about shots for kitties or vaccines, but oh well. As with my own children, I have always scheduled required vaccines separately, never more than one treatment at a visit. So, I should do that.
I hear the flu is going around. Stay healthy everyone. take some vitamin C and D every day. Hubbs and I have not been sick with a flu or virus of any kind for at least 35 years!!! really!! I eat a lot of cookies… I wonder if that is the reason😱😱😝
Charlotte, good for you getting your meds adjusted. I am taking 25mg of metoprolol and it gives me headaches and makes me get “winded” easily. I take it at night and lately wake up with a headache every morning.
I am an olden RN. I will be 72 this December 8th and I can’t believe it!
I do notice the metoprolol also gives me edema at my lower legs/ankles.
I am impressed with all of you and your scrap booking endeavors. That is really an impressive task! We have a lot of photos and I do not feel like sorting through them.
Charlotte, I am excited about your new doll coming in January.
Linda, I am eager to see your Halloween doll scenes. Take your time. I know you will made something special and fun.
Oh one last thing: my sister, Joyce, age 75 is getting some kind of spinal surgery, laminectomy and fusion? I am not sure. She lives about two hours away in Maryland and she has assured me that she has help and assistance throughout this. I think I still have her next door neighbor, Niani’s phone number. So I might text her.
I am a bit worried but praying all goes well.
I have three siblings, Dorothy, we called her Dolly, she is in Heaven since 2000 (smoking aneurysm/age 48) I used to call her Dippy.
Joyce, lots of struggles but also quite brilliant. I call her Jizz, or sometimes J-Fizz, or Fizz. I have a younger brother, John. He and I used to be very close, but he has turned into an angry person and I just try to be nice to him and not make him angry with me.
Fortunately, he lives all the way up in New Hampshire and has a wife that used to be Air Force, she swears a lot and has threatened me.
I am gonna end here. I hope all of you add some things so I can read what you are all up to. One thing I love about all of you is your courage and steadiness. I am so happy that all of us are together. I know Jeanne and George are receiving a lot of excellent support and kindness from their good friends and neighbors. We are so fortunate.
I hope your sister’s procedure is a success and she gets the relief she needs.
We drove through your fine state from top to bottom, and bottom to top, last week but stayed far away from the D.C. corridor. For the first time ever my driver chose non interstate highways. It was a delight to drive through mountains and towns. We located many historical spots for future visits. This time our destination was Gettysburg where my dad’s family settled in the 1700’s. The battlefield was calling my history bluff husband and he was not disappointed. We visited with my mom’s sister nearby then on to Lititz for a soft pretzel. It has been 7 years but they are just as tasty.
I am sure you are suffering the same hear as we are a few hours south.
Oh this is a nice travel trip. Yes, we are very close to the road that takes you into Maryland: Route 15.
We are in Loudoun County. Prince William, south of us has a lot of historic sites too.
Here along the Potomac River, there are many walking paths and several of them have old remains of the lock system along Goose Creek that feed into the Potomac.
My daughter went to Messiah College for two years and we also visited Gettysburg several times. Beautiful area.
The back roads are beautiful! we enjoy them too. The interstates are madness!!
I’m so sorry that we didn’t get an update from Jeanne, but very understandable. Hoping that George, is getting the treatment he needs and is comfortable and that Jeanne, is hanging in there and catching rest when she can. Take care both of you.
Not sure where the time has been disappearing to around here lately, but regular chores and things at the other house are keeping us occupied. We need a trip to Target for kitty treats and Trader Joe’s too. By the time we get in a walk, morning is gone and it’s into the afternoon. Crazy. And I did take apart that felt flower and am trying yet again to get the petals right. Halloween, will be over by the time that I get it done at this rate. I want to get some pics so I did go looking for some of the pumpkins lounging around in the unorganized doll room. Found a bunch and as I was watching tv, I glanced over at a cabinet and saw that there is another one sitting up there that can join in on the fun. 🙂 Very scattered here.
My big accomplishment yesterday was putting in new heater air filters. The new ones have been sitting around awaiting the day. I finally broke out the ladder and got to it. This morning, it was cold yet again, 45, outside so I turned on the heat! Won’t be happy when the bill arrives though. But, we’re in for some higher temperatures this week before another Alaskan front heads down this way.
Great hearing about what everyone is doing.
We have been away from home but thoughts of you and George have been close. I hope you are near to helpful loved ones to strengthen you as you care for George.
We took a break from all news and social media while we were away, staying in the present and enjoying that wonderful taste of autumn last week. Where did it go! We will be back in the 90’s today. Hopefully all chores can be indoors.
I also took a break from the offerings by RRFF. I have not bought one in years, there is only one in my collection. That will change soon because I really like the folk costumes of the last three dolls. Mira is on her way, I think her red dress will fit many occasions this winter. I deliberated over Heidi because I don’t collect storybook dolls but those dark curls and Sara’s impish smile finally won me over.
Catriona is stunning but the light eyes kept me from buying her.
Congrats on Mira and Heidi. I’m holding off until the last minute before ordering Cat, as I call her. Maybe the others too. If I don’t, when they arrive, I’ll wish I had ordered. Bad me.
Was hoping for an update on George. Hopefully he is getting the treatment he needs and is doing okay.
We’re very busy here preparing outdoor kitty houses and the front porch for winter.
I’m looking forward to Linda’s Halloween scenes. I’ve only dressed one doll and set up one small scene this year, but they kitties always have the appropriate seasonal toys, tent, and tunnel out. 😹
Some pretty RRFFs lately – Caitriona is lovely and I’m glad to see the DE #3 Sara mold back.
Jeanne, take care and I hope George is getting the medical attention he needs. I’m sure he is. Thinking of you both!
I’ve had a few interesting days – I’ve been treated over bring an Afib patient.
I’ve several ablations of my heart over the years. It’s more common than not. I take a blood thinner that makes me bleed easily and bruise a lot. Hopefully no more. Yesterday I had an ablation and also a Watchman placed next to my heart. That will prevent blood blots going into my heart. After the procedure, the pain was horrible because of the pressure it took to hold on the site from bleeding in my groin. Eventually that eased up and I could walk ok. So I got to go home. I have the best cardiologist and was well taken care of about by her staff and hospital staff.
Just taking it easy and I’m sure by tomorrow I can get back to my schedule of house and projects. I was so blessed.
I want to get back to several things especially my dolls. How exciting a few girls have some new folks coming their way! And Linda, we appreciate your hard work making the scenes for us to enjoy.
Paula, it is so great what doctors can do these days, I hope the treatments and the device work smoothly. You are smart to rest today.
I am really so glad you had good care!!
Hey, y’all,
My niece and her husband came about dinner time and really loved the pot roast I cooked. Peyton and I ate early as usual and they ate ALL the rest, her husband eats a lot!! I love being with my niece so much, I will really miss her.
Peyton made breakfast, I made lunch and we are going out to eat to a place they can get some good sea food.
We have had a great time to day looking at photos of families.
Jeanne, as you know we are all praying and hoping to hear more about George.
Charlotte, I am so glad your ankles are better.
Linda I can’t wait to see your Halloween dolls!
Rosemary, Praying for your Sister!
Paula, praying that you are feeling better soon.
Sorry I am short but having company makes me busy!
Thank you sweet Sissy for this update. I am glad you had a great visit with your niece. I bet she loves both of you to bits!
I texted her around 2:00 just bc I thought maybe a sweet nurse would see it at her bed side. I told her we loved her very much. She is staying the night at the hospital as planned. So… she kind of texted me back and seemed still pretty sleepy. She said her back feels weird and she has a drain! 😱 Oh my, just hoping tomorrow she is okay and can come home. I do not know what arrangements she has with her friends and home help. She should get some professional post op care giving, I hope that happens. She is not strapped for $$$ (she has piles of it) and she will just think it is unnecessary, but I hope she does get some helpers.
I could go out and help her but it is a terrible drive in the Washington Beltway, and I do not know if I could help her very much. I will think aobut it but I do not like leaving my hubby home on his own he is healthy and good but he has glaucoma and well….
I just really hope Joyce gets some good home care. Maybe i should call her doctor 🥰
Thank you girls for your kind comments about my procedures. Life should get better. The only uncomfortableness is my throat from the tube down my throat. Throat lozenges help.
Jeanne, I know you and George have so much going on. I’m so sorry that George is dealing with so many health issues. Keep your faith up! We’re praying for you both.
