What’s going on with you today?

Hi everyone,
Hope you all can find something to talk about… this is the best I can do right now.

Blessings, Jeanne

Looks like I’m first again tonight.

I have sewing guild tomorrow, and another gal and I are bringing the things we entered in the fair. And. the. ribbons.!! I also have my new purse to bring along for “sew and tell”. Tonight I got the pictures of my purse loaded into the computer, and I will try to send them off to Jeanne tomorrow. Not dolls, but at least sewing! I’m trying to remember if there was anything else I was going to send Jeanne. Hm. Maybe a picture of my son at age 3? I’ll see if I have one in my computer.

Just a heads up: Marika and I will be having lunch “out” on Halloween again this year, and we will have our dolls (in costume) along with us! I think it’s April Eleanore’s turn to go this time (my AGs have to take turns). She is still thinking about what costume to wear. In the past she’s’ been a clown and a nurse, so we shall see.

It looks like we are going to have a last little gasp of summer tomorrow and Friday, with temps in the 70s. That will feel good, after a couple of weeks with our “highs” down in the 50s!

I love seeing any of the items you make. Do your dolls have their costumes ready? I’ll bet that they are excited. 🙂

Thank you, Joy. My dolls are still discussing what to wear. Since the three MA girls I dress up all have clown outfits now, that Might be the choice this year. Stay tuned!! (I have a long way to go before All my dolls have costumes, though!)

Good morning! Well, today has yet to start, but I have been fixing up the modern girls Halloween scene early this morning so I can send it to you Jeanne, along with my other Halloween pictures. And yes, l still have to put more things away! It is supposed to rain a bit this morning, so nothing can be done outside today. A good excuse to stay in and get some things done that. I have been putting off.

Last night was the first night that Michael could sleep without the eye patch from his cataract surgery, and now we have to get ready for the other one next week. Then I have a new crown put on one of my teeth the 26th! It seems like we all are keeping the doctors busy!

The leaves are quickly dropping, and a few trees have started with color, finally, but we certainly have not reached the peak colors yet.

Speaking of the East yesterday, I remember our time living in Richmond, Virginia. Actually, we lived in Prince George, Virginia, of anyone is familiar with that, and was the home of Fort Lee, where Michael was stationed in the Army. My goodness, all the wonderful historical sites around there, that we had learned about in our history books in school! The battlefields, Mount Vernon, Jamestown, Williamsburg, and the plantations along the James River, all brought to life! I also remember going on the Chesapeake Bay Bridge Tunnel, which was a bit too scary for me! Years later, we took our two children back to where we started out, and found it just as wonderful as the first time. Of course, this time we had to include Busch Gardens in Williamsburg, which I don’t think was there when we first married. It really is a beautiful part of the country, but I am a Midwestern girl tnrough and tnrough, and could never leave!
    ,
Praying for you and George, Jeanne, and much love to both of you!❤️🙏🏻

    1. Yes, the east coast is nice. My husband is a midwestern boy through and through and I love that about him. I am not from anywhere, my parents came to the US in 1960 and dad was an auditor with the State Department and we traveled all over the world, but not all over the US.
I would have loved to grow up in the midwest

I would love to see the eastern part of the U.S. How wonderful that you were able to actually live there for awhile and see the historic sites. We’ve never been there nor have I ever been to Missouri, where my grandmother and mother were born. So many places to explore. But, I’m a California, girl, second generation on my father’s side. Wouldn’t know what to do if I wasn’t near the coast and a few hours from the mountains. But, I don’t see any reason that we couldn’t get in a trip and see the mid and eastern parts of the U.S. Of course, other person wants to go to see his grandparents home in Italy. 🙂

  3. Good morning dear ones.
Jeanne, prayers continue for healing and strength and courage

It looks grey and drab outside here. The weather is so so crazy, or NO, not the weather, the weather guessers. We were told today would be 82, but it will be 63. So there.
Yesterday it was 89. Weather is fun, isn’t it?
I am going to “craft and chat” today. bringing a pile of completed blocks. I will photo them later today and share them with all of you.
I am almost done making all of the “elements”: the blocks for the Gathering Wildflowers quilt. You can google it: Gathering Wildflowers by Robin Pickens. I have expanded it, made many many more blocks and devised a pattern to make it larger, instead of a “wall hanging”
I have to admit, I went into this project thinking the pieces would be bigger.😂
Anyway, I am pleased with the results so far. I have been completely focused on the sewing that I have been doing ➡️ not much else except keep the house clean and afloat (thank you Walmart+ 🔆 and delivery)
So, when I get home from my group, I guess “me and hubbs” should go to the gym or go for a long walk.
I took way too many photos of KittyPrincess yesterday as she lay out on the porch, so so happy, so content, despite her irritation that we would not sit out there with her (🥵)
She looked so cute! I was nearby, inside, sewing on my Featherweight here at the diningroom table.
My Featherweight is a great machine, it sews a bit slower than my two-tone 301A that is upstairs in the open loft area in clear view of KittyPrin’s paradise room but I think I have accomplished more downstairs. KittyPrincess spent most of her summer days down stairs, so these cooler days might bring a re-arrangement in work space for me.
I still love sewing downstairs near the kitchen and huge tv.

I did get a quick update from Joyce, my sister, I added that comment in yesterdays post. I have not heard anything this morning. I hope she had a good night. I have been
praying for her. She has always been single, She adopted a baby boy from Russia 25 years ago. He is a sweet guy now but moved out to Washington State. So Joyce is on her own but she has a lot of great friends in Silver Spring Maryland.
I will end here. I hope all of you enjoy a good day.
Keep moving forward and have courage. Joshua 1: 9 “Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged, for the Lord your God will be with you wherever you go.”

Well, wouldn’t you know that as soon as I change the furnace filters and turn on the heat that we are now expecting 90 today. The heat came on this morning and took the chill off the house, but I then turned it back off. Crazy weather the next couple of days with very high fire danger. PGE has turned off power in some areas in the bay area, like the Oakland hills because of the high winds expected the next couple of days. Here, no shut offs except way up in the hills near the county line to the east. But, when those winds hit, believe me all will be wary. We just had the anniversary of the big Tubbs fire here on October 8th. That happened back in 2017 when we had over 5,000 homes burn in one night. Certainly don’t want to ever see that again.
It sounds like everyone is busy being creative. Here, I appear to only be creative in the dirt, pulling weeds and brush. That felt flower I was trying to make is well, close to the trash pile. I do need to get a pic of a couple of my girls in their Halloween, finery that I did not make. Won’t be anything like Linda’s fab work though.
My thoughts and prayer are with Jeanne and George in their journey of life.

Stay strong, Jeanne. It always comforts me to know that we are never alone…God is with us always and he brings comfort and peace within our hearts when we need it the most.

I tend to make a to-do-list for each day of things I hope to accomplish and as I get older, the list often starts with “Mon” and turns into “Mon/Tues” and even “Mon/Tues/Wed”. Even if there are only 4-5 items on my list, which I used to be able to do in one day, now the items flow over to the next day….it just takes longer to move at a faster pace. But then, I have a habit now of enjoying breakfast or brunch at a leisurely pace with one of my good historical romance novels, then checking emails and such, and later on, I take a nap at some point. I’m finding that chores like laundry, washing the bed linens, cleaning cat boxes/emptying wastebaskets, cleaning my bathroom, or Swiffering the floors use up some of the time I would use towards art and sewing…but it is my exercise and I want to be able to help out for as long as I can. So anytime that I can work on a project straight thru for 3-4 hours at a time is pure pleasure! And “Hallmark’s Countdown to Christmas” is starting this weekend I think!

I will be glad when next week is past….my daughter has been wanting to have laminate tile flooring done in her bedroom and had already taken up the carpeting and padding. (Our Mama kitty had been on a downhill course for a while and was frequently sick…usually on the carpet instead of a tile floor. She passed away a month ago….a very sweet old girl of 14+ years old). So, we had talked often about having the three bedrooms tiled to match the rest of the floors in the main part of the house, as we did not have the option of having tile instead of carpet in the bedrooms…the homes here in this community were a “package” deal….and you had 20 various combinations of tile, bedroom carpeting, wall color, kitchen cupboard color, exterior paint, brick and trim colors, to choose from. So we thought we would replace carpeting down the road and that time has arrived.

I guess I had hoped we would have daughter’s room done first and maybe do the other two bedrooms, one of which is my art/sewing room, done later. As usual though, you get a better deal on cost if you do all three at the same time. Soooo….we will be spending this weekend removing EVERYTHING from the bedrooms and closets except for the beds, which the floor installers will do. We can leave pictures on the walls and curtains can stay up…..but I am not looking forward to the total mess/chaos of the way the living and dining areas are going to look like. If any of you have a sewing room, you can imagine how many items are in my craft room…wall-to-wall and the closet is packed as well. I tell myself, it is only for one day and then it is done….but at my older age now, perhaps I’m just not as resilient as I used to be!

On a good note….the weather prediction is for cooler temps this weekend. We have had temps still in the 90’s for weeks and weeks and today it is 74!! And my youngest daughter and her husband are coming over to help us empty out the bedrooms this weekend!

    1. Joy in northern CA

I do not envy the big move you are going to do. We would need to do the same here to have new flooring installed. In our case, I have no idea where we would put everything from the two bedrooms which are now doll room and office. We’d probably have to rent a storage pod, a big one, and have them drop it on the front lawn. And that might not be enough space for everything. If we were to do the living room too, another pod for sure. I’m really not up for that right now with the rainy weather fast approaching. However, maybe next summer I might consider it. I’m glad that you’re getting some help from daughter and son in law. I’ll bet the floors look amazing when all done. 🙂

Elizabeth, fortunately for me my craft/sewing room is separate from the house but Sam is supposed to be decorating her bedroom so she emptied that and that has been bad enough! She started sanding the door but that is as far as she has got!!!!!
