Hi everyone,
I have a few ladies who have shared things and this will help me out tremendously for a few days. I’m sure you won’t mind seeing dolls dressed up and a few other things… I even received something in the mail and it’s going to be SO much fun to share with you!!!
First up, we have some of Linda’s (in St. Louis’) dolls dressed for Christmas! They are SO adorable… just like Barbara’s were!
Here’s what Linda said about them…
Jeanne, don’t know if you can use these, but here are some pictures of my dolls dressed for Christmas.
First is Molly’s table ready for her cookie party!
Next Cecile with her nutcracker and Kirsten with her Swedish ornament.
Here are the 40’s girls with their dolls and matching dresses by the Christmas tree. Betsy has a crocheted dress and is holding her elf on the shelf.
The modern girls are decking the halls!
Felicity is admiring her tabletop tree!
I hope others send pictures too!
Love to you,
Linda💕🎄
Thank you, Linda! Your girls are probably the best dressed of all of the dolls in St. Louis… maybe in the whole state of Missouri! I’m so glad you share them with us!
Monday you’ll see more from another Sofa Sister! You won’t want to miss this…
Blessings, Jeanne

Linda, I always love seeing your girls dressed up for special occasions. Thank you for sharing.
Is Kristen’s dress an AG dress? I don’t recognize it. I love the lace on her apron. And Betsy’s dress is so beautiful. Is that something you made, or did someone else make it for you?
Well, really, all the pictures are just wonderful. Thanks for sharing!
Thanks to all for their comments. I think this is only the second or third UTI I’ve ever had, and the medication has already started working I’m happy to say Fortunately I love cranberries, and it’s no hardship for me to eat them or to drink the juice.
Dorothy in PA, that Charlotte Noelle has it all figured out, doesn’t she?!!! Her story made me laugh–thank you!
Rosemary, unfortunately the clinic I go to is a pretty busy one, and they can’t always just work someone in, no matter what. I had notified them via MyChart email on Sunday night, they contacted me Monday afternoon asking if I could get there on Wednesday, and that turned out to be because they’d had a cancellation and could work me in. Otherwise I’d have gone to urgent care. We have a very good one that opened not long ago, and it’s not far from my house.
Glad to hear you they got you in to be seen – and that the medication is helping in good time. Take care!
Glad you’re on the road to recovery. Take care!
Glad you finally got meds, Charlotte. Prayers for a quick recovery!
Charlotte, I love cranberries too. I think David and I avoid the UTI thing because our supper beverage is cranberry juice mixed half with filtered water. He likes the Cranberry Black Cherry and I like the Cranberry Pomegranate. So far so good. Aside from a few soft drinks now and then we mostly drink water. So glad you could get in your clinic but have an urgent care clinic close by. A UTI is too uncomfortable to put up with for long. I only ever had one when I was pregnant with Sean and one was enough. That was 43 years ago and I remember it well.
I sometimes mix cranberry juice half and half with ginger ale, and I like that! Otherwise, straight cranberry juice over ice works, too. I’ll have to try the two combos you mentioned, though–they sound delicious!
Well, since these are my pictures, what can I say? Thank you Jeanne, for the lovely compliments, and for showing them! I’m so glad to help you out in this busy time for you. How was the party last night?
Charlotte, that dress that Kirsten is wearing is not AG, it is a Queen’s Treasures dress that also comes with a pinafore, but it is a plain one, so I substituted the apron I made a few years ago. I had a small strip of that lace left over when I made my daughter’s First Communion dress, and I used that. I think it dressed up the green dress, which I wanted for Kirsten. There aren’t enough green dresses out there for Christmas!
No, Charlotte, I don’t crochet, but Betsy’s dress is one that I bought off
eBay from a woman who does crochet. I certainly do wish I could make something like that, since I love crocheted things!
I’m happy for you that your medication is working and hope it continues! Thank you for the compliments!
Thank you again, and again, Linda, for your lovely dolls and their beautiful outfits. I love Molly’s table, too, so yummy. Kirstin’s apron does lift up her dress. The little dog reminds me of Rueben, poor little thing. Your fortie’s dolls are always so sweet to let Betsy in. She looks lovely in her little dress. I love the Raggedy Ann on the tree. The modern girls are so spiffed up always, and Felicity is so sweet in red. Thank you and Jeanne for showing us such lovelies!
Thank you, Sissy! I bought a bunch of older Hallmark doll ornaments just for this tree. I thought doll ornaments would be fitting for the dolls. Since Molly’s table is in the room where I sit and watch tv, I am sure those cookies would be gone in a flash if they were real!
Thank you again for the compliments!
Ohhhhh Linda, I love these scenes. Each one is lovely. The cookie party table setting is so cute. I have a punch bowl like that….. Cecile and Kirsten 💞, perfect dresses! The 40’s group around the tree, adorable tree decorations and those girls look so sweet. I love that each has her doll.
The modern girls are lovely, … tiny pigtails blondie looks chilly though 🥰 really really cute.Of course I love Felicities scene with her doll collection too. So happy, adorable girls all of them, well done Linda.
I hope everyone is enjoying these days and not feeling rushed. do not stress☝🏼
I am not feeling stressed.
Charlotte, I am so happy the meds worked so quickly, it means you really caught it in time and that is a huge save bc infections can really bring you down! I am very happy you got that cleared up. Good thing about your clinic that they could work you in. We have several walk in clinics here in Northern Virginia and now everyone of them is associated with “INOVA” and they have all of your information, so handy.
Have a lovely Friday dear ones. Enjoy this day and the week-end!
Oh, thank you, Rosemary! I have fun setting the dolls up in scenes, but I am really running out of room! I do what I can, and try to make a cohesive grouping.
Yes, Susette(Sara), my Ruby Red doll, needs a dress that covers her arms! I should have put a sweater on her! I’m working on a wardrobe for her this coming year. Boy, are shoes for them expensive! Where does everyone get Ruby Red doll shoes at a decent price?
That’s cherry Kool-Aid in the punch bowl! So glad you have one too! I need some tiny slices of oranges to out in there, like my mother used to do!
Again thank you so much for the nice words!
I’m so far behind this year but I’m not letting it stress me. I figure I’ll get done what I need to. I used to decorate my whole house but the past few years I’ve pretty much stuck to the tree and my village. I used to be able to bring the boxes in myself but can’t these days so I have to prevail upon my hubby and sons but they are not always at my beck and call (usually not). When the boxes are empty I can drag them out but full I definitely need help. Still need to do my Christmas letter and cards but there are fewer people to send them to each year so I can get them done quickly. If I don’t send a letter people worry that something has happened so I try to at least get it done by New Years..
I’m the same with my cards/letter, Barbara. I figure if they’re in the mail by New Year’s Eve, I’m good!! This year, what with the foot injury, sinus infection, and then the UTI, I am further behind than usual, too! At least the grandkids are all older (17 and up) so they understand if grandma’s package is late!! 😂
Yes, Susette (Sara) does look a bit chilly but I think children do not feel the cold like we older folks do. Last Sunday it was in the 40s when we left for church. When we got to church a family that has four children was getting out of their car. The two little girls (5 and 8) were dressed in summer dresses with sandals on their feet. No jackets in sight. They looked cold but never seemed to be. I think it goes for some animals too. We had an American Eskimo dog that stayed outside. One very cold night we made a spot for her in the garage with a nice mat and a lamp for heat. That’s not where she slept. We found her the next morning sleeping comfortably on the cold floor next to the garage door. Living in Texas that was probably the most comfortable she had been all year.
It is always a treat to see your girls, Linda. The detail is incredible! The treats on the table are the perfect set up for Christmas – the decorated cookies look yummy.
I like the green dress Kirsten is wearing too and her apron with the lace does dress it up. I love the little house standing on the table in between Cecile and Kirsten. It’s the perfect size for that table.
With the girls in your modern group, the AMG doll next to Ivy – the one with the long dark hair, is she new? I don’t remember seeing her before in your doll groups. Maybe I just don’t recall seeing her before.
Thank you Jeanne for showing Linda’s girls. And Linda, you do a great job in setting them up in scenes.
We’re getting closer to Christmas- I think I’m ready, hope everyone’s also ready to enjoy this special day!
Thank you Paula! I’m glad that you enjoyed the pictures! That little building on the table between Cecile and Kirsten is a Dept. 56 building, that I bought especially for that scene. I bring it out each year at Christmas for them.
The doll you must be referring to, is Scarlett, a JLY doll from American Girl. I have had her for several years now, and she is always in my pictures. You just probably didn’t notice, because her hairdo gets changed all the time. I wanted a doll with blue eyes, and medium skin , so she fits that description.
Thank you so much for the compliments, you made my day!
Always love seeing your scenes, Linda!!
I wondered if the dark haired doll was Scarlett, but I didn’t realize Scarlett had long hair. I thought it was more shoulder length. Anyway, thank you for letting me know who she is. I love the characters we come up with in our dolls and I think it’s so much fun naming them.
Happy Friday everyone!
How wonderful to have Linda’s wonderland photos. Everyone is a dream.
Molly’s table is superb. Fun cookies and that special pink punch she makes for her guests. I even spotted a cute gingerbread house on her decorated stovetop. What a girl!
Cecile and Kirsten are adorable with their outfits and ornaments. Love the woven wheat. And that apron is perfect, especially, with that memory lace. What a great idea. I spotted my favorite Snow Village piece. And the kittens are adorable as well.
What a treat seeing the 40’s girls and their dolls with matching dresses. How cute they look standing by that lovely fully decorated tree. I think the pup is excited. Not long until the big day. 🙂 And of course, Betsy looks fantastic in her crochet dress. Loved seeing her.
The modern girls have it all together. So fashionable. Sara’s white dress is lovely. She could be a snow princess. 🙂 And little pup with it’s festive ribbon finishes off the exciting scene.
It was wonderful seeing Felicity and her specially decorated table. All of the decorations are charming.
Thanks so much Linda and Jeanne for sharing. Makes me feel all Christmassy!
Well, some more last minute things to move around today and then, I think that we’ll be ready for the delivery tomorrow. Other person managed to remove the old soap dispense from the sink last night so it will be able to accommodate an air gap. Not going to be pretty around here as it is supposed to rain a lot all today and tomorrow.
I hope Jeanne’s party went well. I wonder what game she had planned?
Hope everyone has time to relax and enjoy their decorations because it’s not long until New Years!
Hoping that every thing will go smoothly tomorrow, Joy!
Since I keep our decorations up until Epiphany on January 6 (also David’s birthday) I do get to enjoy them since over the years I didn’t much before Christmas with so much going on with the kids and being in the choir at church. The choir used to do a soup supper and Carol sing along at the church we went to when we were first married. It was a lot of fun but took planning at a very busy time of year. So after Christmas Day and my birthday the day after, I will relax and enjoy.
So your birthday is the 26th! That will be ojr 59th wedding anniversary, a d usually we are so pooped out to do much on that day, since we always have the family on Christmas Day. I’ll be thinking of you, Barbara, and hope we get to see your village!
I will definitely be thinking of you on my birthday. Happy 59th anniversary. How blessed you and your hubby have been to have so many wonderful years together. David and I will be married 46 years on January 19. But we got a late start. If we’d married each other the first time we would be married going on 58 years. We both were married in June of 1968 just to the wrong people, but then he was in Colorado and I was in Delaware. It took those marriages and both of us moving to Texas and our spouses deciding they wanted someone different for David and I to meet. The Lord works in mysterious ways His wonders to perform.
I have a friend whose birthday is the 26th, too! And one whose birthday is the 23rd. And then there was mom’s brother Roy, born on Christmas Day! Anyway, a happy birthday to you Barbara, and happy anniversary to Linda and her hubby, too!
Thank you Charlotte. When I was working in the Legal Dept. at Shell there were three of us with birthdays on the 26th and it was a small department. We are all retired now but I still keep in touch with one of the women. She calls us the birthday twins. I found out through Ancestry that my maternal grandfather was born on Christmas Day. He passed away before I was born and so I never heard that. My granddaughter should have been born on my birthday, or so I tell my daughter-in-law. She ended up being born on New Year’s Eve but we at least got to go up for our birthday blessing together when we went to the same church.
Wow, Joy, you notice everything! Thank you so much for the glowing compliments! How I wish we all could get together and celebrate with our dolls! That would be fun, but I certainly would have to make more cookies and punch for that! That little gingerbread house on the stove is an ornament, as you might have guessed.
I will be thinking of you tomorrow, hoping the weather isn’t a lot to deal with, and that you get everything installed to your satisfaction. How nice to have it done for Christmas Day, and you get to start off the new year with an almost new kitchen!
Anne….just read your comment from yesterday about watching the Great British Sewing Bee! I know the evening gown dress you referred too…the transformation dress that the breast surgeon made. The dress was spectacular the way it unfolded and swirled slowly down around the original short dress, transforming into a dark green evening gown!! It was mesmerizing to watch the transformation and one of the most beautifully constructed dresses they had ever had on the series, I thought!
I also absolutely loved the episode of art challenges…the one where art students had donated very large canvas abstract paintings and the sewers had to take one canvas, cutting the painted canvas from the stretcher bars and use that big piece of painted canvas to construct a 3-dimensional garment on their mannequins, mainly using tucks and folded pleats of the stiff canvas. That one dress with the huge “butterfly” shaped and folded wings was awe-inspiring!
I used to watch the earlier episodes of Project Runway, but it doesn’t hold a candle to the Great British Sewing Bee format in my mind. The British sewers from all walks of life are so compassionate with each other, and helpful….didn’t appear to have any of the back-biting, jealousies, or over-the-top drama that Project Runway sewers projected. And the fashion history briefs included in the British series are interesting. The British format is so much more enjoyable and entertaining! I am currently re-watching the British series starting with the first season…since I’ve already forgotten some of the challenges! I’ve learned a lot of sewing tips that I have never tried and I want to look for one of those shaped turning tools used for “poking out” collar points and such!
Thank you for sharing your thoughts yesterday; and how lucky you were to be able to visit England too!
I did not know about the Great British Sewing Bee but it sounds amazing. I have BritBox. Is it on that? I got it for the Jeremy Brett Sherlock Holmes series and a few others but haven’t really delved into all it has.
Linda, I always love seeing your wonderful dolls and the scenes you create. I love the dresses with the matching doll dresses. And Betsy’s crocheted dress is so lovely. I have a wonderful crochet pattern for a dress for Betsy but haven’t made it yet. Felicity’s dining room always looks so elegant and festive for every occasion. And Molly’s kitchen set for the cookie party looks perfect for a fun time. I believe my girls have received their invitations in the mail and have all sent an RSVP saying they’ll be there. Hope you have enough cookies.
This just keeps getting better and better. I actually wrote this comment two days ago and got distracted before I could send it. Imagine my surprise when I went to the blog today and found it still there and that it was two days ago. I know I was busy yesterday but can’t imagine how I missed checking the blog. I’m chalking it up to memory overload at this time of year. Anyway it’s still relevant so with a few changes I’ll go with it.
I have never seen the newer version of “Miracle on 34th Street”. It seems to be the only one on all my streaming channels but I keep hoping the original will show up.
Too funny. So many of my Sofa Sisters are doing the happy dance because it is warming up for them while we here are doing the unhappy dance because we are scheduled for 80 degrees on Christmas Day. I bought this really cute Christmas sweater with the names of my grandkids on it and now I won’t be able to wear it as I planned even with A/C. Today is cool but starting tomorrow we have at least ten days of spring-like weather. Problem is the flies think it is spring.
I finally got all the buildings up for my Christmas village. Part of the problem was I was waiting for one of my purchases to show up. It is a Doll Shop with two little girls in front holding their dolls. I had to rearrange some of the buildings because the doll shop could not be next to the pub or the Blacksmith Shop. Totally inappropriate. Probably no one would have even noticed LOL. But I did get things sorted out and moved the school to next to the park since the school didn’t have a playground before but needed one. Details, details. Now I have to get my accessories all in the right places and then I can take some pictures.
I have really been slow at getting things done this year. I still have the wrapping to go. Since I probably will only be able to do some each day I might get it all done by Christmas. But then there is using gift bags if I get desperate. Wrapping is something I used to do in less than a day. When the kids were little David used to take them to their gymnastics class and lunch and I would stay home and wrap presents and get them up in the attic, so I did it all in less than three hours. Those were the days.
Thak you, Barbara! What, you are coming to the cookie party? As you can see there are only three napkins, but plenty of cookies, and I’ll make more punch! I guess plain white paper napkins will have to do, but you and your group are welcome any time!❤️
Can’t wait to see hur village!
Of course, I pressed reply too soon, and didn’t proofread! THANK you and YOUR village!
No problem and plain white napkins are just fine. It will remind me of the white Christmas we won’t be having.
Well, I got the last mailed cookies off this morning on our way to the YMCA. Picked up a few more things at the store, and now home with a long list of things to do.
Y’all have a great weekend, and hope to “see” you on Monday.
Such a treat to see your dolls dressed up for Christmas, Linda.
How pretty everyone looks. Ruthie is fantastic in Addy’s Tartan Christmas dress and Susan (#21) in Kit’s Christmas dress. I love both of them and Kit’s is neat that the Scottie pin is a magnet that comes off so the dress can be for Valentine’s also. I see they all have a new Christmas doll.
The Queen’s Treasures dress on Kirsten is perfect. You are right that there is not enough green. I like her wheat ornament as well.
Coconut is adorable with her red bow and of course the kitties are as well. I know the orange is a Queen’s Treasures because I have her also.
Hopefully, I can find time to get Evangeline (Samantha) in Addy’s Christmas dress, but that will be the extent of dressing dolls for Christmas.
Yes, the Ruby Red shoes are crazy expensive. I’m glad two of mine came with boots/ shoes that are versatile, but then again they have never changed clothing.
Thank you, Laura! I know you would recognize all of the dresses I have used this year for my dolls. I try to change things every year, but Molly is the only one to wear her pretty green velvet dress, and it happens every year. Can’t imagine her not wearing it! My Kit’s Christmas dress has the Scottie dog button, not the magnet. That’s the way it came, but then I got it off EBay. So yours has the magnet? Mine has an American Girl tag, so probably newer than yours. Whatever, I love that dress!
I hope you get Evangeline ready for Christmas! That is a beautiful dress, a bit too long for the 40’s, but then the one I have is a Pleasant Company dress, and I don’t want to mess it up by shortening it. Sometimes Cecile wears it too.
Again, thank you for your kind words!
Yes, my Kit’s Scottie dress has a magnet. My daughter’s does as well. It was the first version. The black t-straps also have snaps like Samantha’s shoes. It does have an AG tag, both versions due. I got mine off of eBay as well. I was willing to pay a bit more to have the magnet. I also chose her first version of school supplies because the crayons are real wax and the pencils are eraser are real as well.
Yes, Addy’s dress is a bit long for the 40, but I will use it this year for Edwardian and it’s obviously intended to be Civil War which is one of my eras as well. To be honest, it is truly timeless. I feel it is fair game from 1840’s to present day.
Linda it was wonderful seeing all your lovely girls dressed up for the holidays. They are all so pretty.
Laura, I had to laugh. My Sarah is still in the outfit she came in except now she has an Aran sweater instead of the denim jacket. She probably needs it today because our temps have plummeted, only 15C that feels really cold after the weather we have had lately.
I think I have all my gifts sorted, I should send some letters out too, Barbara, I certainly need to wrap everything, only one thing wrapped so far and that is because it was wrapped at the mall right after I bought it.
Have a great day everyone
Thank you, Anne! It’s always nice to hear from you and to let us know how things are there in NZ. So you are having a chilly spell! Would you believe our weather forecast has us at 70 degrees for Christmas Day? Too balmy for me!
Since these days I mostly shop via wish lists on Amazon, nothing is gift wrapped by anyone other than me. It would be great if Amazon offered a gift-wrapping service and they could put a removable tag on the package so you would know what’s in it and to whom it goes to. I must admit I’d be willing to pay for that.
So much Christmas joy! Linda, I can just see my grandmother’s table in the 50’s set for a holiday dinner. Your table settings just keep getting better. I don’t recognize Cecille or Kirsten’s outfits. Are they hand crafted or have I missed those at AG? The miniature village display, oh my! The 40’s girls with their mini me dolls are so fun. Is that Ruthie between Molly and Kit? She is a very pretty doll and a bit of a sleeper. The modern girls have festive clothes and trimmings. I don’t know where you find all the accessories but I admit to not looking in the right places. I will always love Felicity. The original blue dress is nice and I love the story that goes with it but I love her in this pink one. I know you must be enjoying these displays. Thank you for sharing with Jeanne and the Sofa Sisters.
Merry Christmas!
Debbie, I wonder what haooened to my reply to yu, since I wrote a nice long one. Well, nere goes again! Thank you for noticing my dolly table settings! I have fun doing that!
Cecile is wearing Rebecca’s original Meet outfit. I thought it would also work for Cecile’s times. And Kirsten is wearing a Queen’s Treasures dress, that also comes with a pinafore, but it is kind of plain, so I dressed the dress up with an apron that I made for her.
Yes, that is Ruthie with the 40’s girls. I agree that she is a very pretty doll!
I do have Felicity’s original blue dress and she will wear that for New Year’s Eve. I just didn’t like the way the blue dress went with the red and green of Cecile and Kirsten’s dresses, since they are in the same room. But I do have and love the blue dress too! She rarely has anything to wear the red dress for, so I have her wear it for Christmas.
Thank you so much for your compliments!
Thank you, Debbie! Along with dressing the dolls, I like to do table settings too, and I have plenty of things to do that with, as I have been collecting for many years.
Cecile is wearing Rebecca’s original Meet dress. I thought it would work for her times, and I wanted it to compliment Kirsten’s green dress that I got from .Queen’s Treasures. That dress also has a white pinafore, but I like the little apron I made for her for dress up occasions. The lace is a leftover piece I had when I made my daughter’s First Communion dress.
Yes, that is Ruthie with the 40’s girls. I agree that she is a very pretty doll! She is kind of a diva here! And I do have Felicity’s lovely blue gown, but since she is in the same room with Cecile and Kirsten, and they are wearing red and green, I didn’t think the blue dress would work that well. However, she will wear the blue dress for New Year’s Eve. I never could figure out a blue dress for Christmas!
Mseey Christmas to you too!
Debbie, I apologize for all the mistakes I made, and didn’t get to correct! For some reason, when I write on my iPad, more mistakes are made than when I am on my desktop, probably because of the difference in the keyboards, smooth versus individual keys. Plus I was rushed yesterday and trying to find places where I did needed to answer. That is really no excuse for all the mistakes, but that’s what happened. Plus I had cookies in the oven to watch!🙃
Dear Jeanne and Sofa Sisters, I am commenting on Saturday. I can hardly believe Christmas is 5 days away!
It has been very windy here in Central PA. The Christmas trees at the Capitol and City Hall both blew down yesterday! I stayed snug and warm at home. Today the weather was calmer and pleasant.
I am wishing you all a holly dolly weekend.
