OOPS! I missed Friday’s Sweater GIVEAWAY…

Hi everyone…
I was bad on Friday… I missed the sweater Giveaway! SO, we better have it today!!!
I’m sorry, because it was the one I had planned for sure to have before Valentine’s Day… any guesses why?

You guessed right… it’s red!!

It will fit the American Girl Wellie Wishers dolls or the Ruby Red Fashion Friends dolls.

If you would like to try and win this sweet sweater, made by our “Anne, from New Zealand,” just mention in the comments below (or in an email to me) that you’d like to be included in the drawing…
You can enter until midnight tonight. (IL Central Standard time) I’ll post the winner Tuesday morning.

Also, I wanted to let you know I fixed the Mary Janes for Mae the best I could… I wet them again with water on the inside using my fingers to try and smoothe out the wrinkles and stained areas. I put them back in the shoe molds and put them in the sun to dry. I used some saddle soap my hubby had and it kind of conditioned the leater and made it not look so crusty. It may have slightly darkened the color, but it still goes with her dress fabric. The stains didn’t all come out, but I decided they looked okay to use.

Here is a 6 second video showing how easily they snap closed…

I cut off the extra leather on the bottom of the shoes and tried to burnish the sole area well. Then I added my signature magnetic closeure and added a rivet so they close super easily.

See what you think…

I also decorated her hat, re-braided her hair, added some new hair ties and she is ADORABLE!! I am LOVING this new set!!
I will do my best to share it tomorrow…
My “Valentine’s Day” has now turned into an Easter dress! It’s a good thing I didn’t have hearts in my fabric!!

I’m not LATE for Valentine’s Day… I’m EARLY for Easter!

See you tomorrow,
Appreciate your prayers today…
Blessings, Jeanne

Well, I wondered if there was supposed to be a drawing this weekend! I already have one of Anne’s lovely sweaters, so don’t need to be included in this drawing. This sweater is certainly appropriate for Valentine’s Day!

Well, I think the shoes turned out very well, Jeanne. Love the little flower trim, too. I’m sure Mae is delighted with them, and the hat with its pretty flowers, too. I have a feeling she will be quite reluctant to part with this one.

The shoes turned out so cute, Jeanne! I love the little flower on the strap! The hat looks like a winner to me, and I can’t wait to see the whole outfit together on Mae!

What a cute little sweater that is perfect for Valentine’s Day! I do already have several sweaters from Anne, so will skip this one to give others the chance to own one.

Oh, I forgot to mention “ Congratulations” to Charlotte for winning the Super Bowl!! I know you aren’t really a football fan, but you can’t deny that Seattle won!🤩

Love the red sweater, Anne, I know whoever wins will ove it! I need to get busy and make my sweet sweater’s outfit for my Mae.

Jeanne, you are such a teaser today! The shoes are so sweet with the little flowers, but you are only giving us a a tiny piece to see the rest. Looking forward tomorrow for the rest.

We are off to the Y again this am. Will check Y’all’s words later.

  5. I would love to be included in the drawing for the red sweater! My 14″ dolls love it! I enjoy your blog and always get good ideas for my doll sewing!

  6. Good morning dear ones.
    Happy Monday again.
Oooh the outfit is adorable. This is a good time to advertise it though, Jeanne, Red is the happiest color for February! The shoes are a success! I love this fabric so much!
The flowers on the hat are just beautiful!
I did give the sweater give away a thought last Friday but couldn’t remember if that spectacular offer was over. Another adorable sweater. I LOVE Red. This is really cute.
Would it fit an AG doll or too tight?
I have a glitter girl (still completely undressed, she is covered with grand girl Laurens favorite purple fabric though, I thought I would make a skirt and some shorts and a top with matching fabrics.
Lauren also has Emerson!!! (I love that doll) I want to learn how to make underpants.
I hope everyone has a very happy day. I sewed all week-end. Almost finished my “circles” quilt, I call it that, just rounded 16 patch blocks with curved edges (drunkards path template) It is really cute. I am thinking about making a wild border. I will take some photos and ideas and maybe share.

Are you enjoying any of the winter olympics? The US mens figure skater Ilia Malinin lives right down the road from us, in Vienna Virginia. I used to be a figure skater but never competed. OH! but my cousin that I barely know/never met that lives in California, married to her coach who is 15 years older than her (!!??) She skated for the Netherlands in 1972 and won the Silver medal. – never met her. I did meet her two adopted siblings and they were pretty wonderful (30 years ago)
I hope everyone enjoys some sunshine.

Rosemary, I’m no expert, but I do have sweaters from Anne in both 18 and 14 inch sizes, and no, this sweater would not fit an 18 inch doll, sadly. It would fit Lauren’s Emerson. I have her too, and yes, she is adorable. If your Glitter Girl is the same size as a Wellie Wisher, this sweater would fit her.

    2. Hi Rosemary,
I think the Glitter girls and Wellie Wishers are almost the same size, so do you want a chance at the lovely red sweater?
      Blessings, Jeanne

I can’t wait to see Mae’s complete outfit! My Mae is the cinnamon resin, and she looks really pretty in pink. 🙂

Please include me in the drawing for Anne’s sweater. My RRFFs are feeling neglected these days.

Dear Jeanne, I think that since we love our dolls, we can celebrate Valentine’s Day with them on any day we like (smile). So see, you are not really late at all.

I don’t want to be in the contest, as I don’t have any dolls that size.

February is a busy month for me. I am planning to attend a dolly Zoom tomorrow on Seaside Fashions from the Edwardian Era. (It’s on the UFDC calendar so anyone can attend. You just have to click on the Zoom link.) Then my tea club will attend a Valentine’s Day. Finally, I am participating in three programs for Black History Month.

Wow, what a game yesterday. The weather was perfect too! And of course, the halftime extravaganza with Bad Bunny, was unbelievable. I’ve never seen such choreographing and sets displayed and then taken down in record time. And so many famous people that were snuck in and popped up as well as the excitement of crashing through the ceiling, climbing power poles, witnessing an amazing wedding, and a surprise song by Lady Gaga. Good thing that I had the hot artichoke dip and Tostados ready to go as I was glued to the screen. And the game was exciting as well. Amazing plays from both sides. What a great event.

I was so sad hear that Lindsey Vonn had such a horrible injury at the Olympics. I loved seeing the guy do the flip ice skating. So amazing. Lots of events to watch there continuing. If anyone is on Facebook, the Official Ruby Red group had a great photo by one of the members who had her dolls all dressed in Olympic skiing attire with their gear and scenic background posted. It was done with ai, but so fun to see, if you missed it.

Around here, more trouble with my sewing machine. Made several huge tangles and it was late one day, so I gave up trying to make anything. I did Google it and found that I probably have it threaded incorrectly. What? I think the thread may not have gotten through reels or something inside, but I had tried rethreading it twice which didn’t work at all. But, I’ll try again today when I have lots of light. I think that the needle may not have been up enough too. Seems odd as it worked okay last time I used it. Maybe some evil sewing dust bunnies have gotten inside.

Love the sweater that Anne made for today’s give away. It would be adorable for the fourth of July or any fun occasion like a summer sailing adventure. Lots of fun settings popping into my mind. I have one of Anne’s lovely creations already, but good luck to those trying to win today.

And Jeanne and George, I’ll be sending positive thoughts your way today. Take care and drive safe.

I am so sorry for you sewing machine problems, Joy. I have a few lately too. I had stopped sewing for quite a while and when I went back to it I found I had forgotten things that I have been easily doing for years. Old age is interesting! I hope you will have a better day.

    2. So far all the pieces of Mae’s outfit are wonderful, can’t wait to see it all together. I’m sure I’ll be wishing I had a doll it would fit. The shoes look like they are fine. And please include me for the sweater drawing. I’d love to have one of Anne’s creations.

    Good morning everyone
Thank you for the nice comments about the sweaters. I enjoyed making them.
Joy, sorry you are having sewing machine problems. Occasionally, if I sew too fast the thread ‘jumps’ from the correct threading and that causes tangles. I did have a lot of issues with my machine for a while and it seemed to be related to the automatic thread cutter. I took it in to have it repaired several times but eventually I have covered the cutter button with tape so I am not tempted to use it. So far this time it seems to be working ok. I do have two machines but prefer this one, especially for quilting as it is designed for that purpose.
Rosemary, I am looking forward to seeing your quilt, I am finishing one that I started for my brother in 2011! As if I don’t have enough UFO’s Sam and I are starting a 6 month class for a 100 block sampler quilt. (They are all 6 1/2 inches).
I hope it is a bit warmer where you are. Stay warm

Thanks for the cutter tip. I was able to use it, but who knows what’s up. Haven’t had a moment yet to try yet again to get it going.

Beautiful spring weather here for nearly the middle of February. It was 60 degrees and sunny with a light breeze. I finished some chores and then went out and sat on the porch of my new storage building. I never had a porch on my house so I’m really enjoying the opportunity. How nice that you and your daughter can engage is such wonderful events together.

I think the little pink shoes are absolutely adorable. I love the little flowers on the sides. Can’t wait to see the whole ensemble together.
