Hi everyone,
Just a quick note to you about something regarding my blog. For some reason, I was getting an enormous amount of spam emails (we’re talking 739 in the last 3 days) so I talked to Sarah about it and she advised me and installed a BOT blocker which makes it more secure. SO…for now, at least the first time you check it, you will see something like this… it’s just something to prove you are a human, not a robot. It’s from some place called Recaptha or something like that…
Something will pop up when you try to leave a comment… one of those screens with a bunch of pictures in it, and it will ask you to click all the pictures with a bus or a bicycle or a red car in it… then you’ll hit verify. Sarah wasn’t sure which pictures would be chosen. As far as she knows, you should only have to do this once, then once you are cleared, you should be okay…
Just a quick reminder of my listings on Ebay… if you were interested… the American Girl carrier and travel seat sold, and the Our Generation lot has a bid on it. The auctions end tonight… (Thursday) Yes, I’m up late. You can see them by clicking the links below…
Hallmark Cloth Bicentennial dolls
Now, it’s time for ME to share something… Thank you Linda and Anne and Joy and Charlotte for helping me out… I’ve been a little slow at getting much done because I can’t sit for long periods of time… I am getting better, but it’s slow going!
Working a little at a time, this is what I’ve been up to… and it’s just in time for May Day…actually one day early!
A new dress set for Mae! And look… I changed her eyes back to blue just for this dress set!! :o) You may have remembered me showing you this fabric…and saying I wanted to make a dress for Mae from it. It’s a beautiful Pique fabric and I love the little textured designs in it…
Well, I actually wanted this to have been one of my Easter dresses, but that didn’t happen… so now it will just be a pretty Spring dress. Mae does pretty so well.
Her sleeves have really puffy headers in them to keep them poofy looking!
I’m not finished yet, but planning to have a yellow ribbon bow at the front and stitched down so it’s easier to keep straight…
I was thrilled to have a 12″ square of some blue leather that went perfectly with it in my stash! So… I made her a pair of shoes, especially to go with this dress…
They have my magnetic closure on the side.. which makes them SO easy to put on!
Here are a few pictures of her in it, sitting in the chair…(I STILL haven’t gotten it painted!)
The back has 3 tiny yellow buttons and the yellow checked tie will come to the back…
The dress is about knee length…
I have a yellow tulle slip started, but not completed yet… soon…
Well, that’s it for me… I’ve been busy working, but just slowly over several days! I hope to speed things up as soon as I can!
See you tomorrow,
Blessings, Jeanne

I’m sorry about all the spam you’ve had of late, Jeanne!! I don’t blame you for adding that bot blocker to your blog. How exasperating for you!
I think the Recaptcha (?) thing must pop up when you press the “comment” button after you’ve written out what you have to say. At least, I haven’t seen it YET.
Oh, I love pique! It’s nice to sew, looks so crisp and fresh, and the print you have is just wonderful for Mae! And she gets matching shoes, too! and a yellow petticoat. What little girl wouldn’t love that!! Makes me wish I had a Mae, now!! (again…)
Linda, I remember playing Drop the Clothespin in the Bottle at my birthday parties when I was young, too! We knelt on a chair and leaned over the back of it to play the game. I don’t remember what other games we played offhand, but I do remember that one, and had just been thinking about it when I read thru the comments on that blog post, and there you were, mentioning it in your reply!
Well, at least I wasn’t the only one who couldn’t get the video on the hail storm. I tried it again tonight and the same thing–sound, but a black screen.
Okay, nothing happened–my post went thru as usual. Maybe the Recaptcha thing is just for those who aren’t regulars, or just first time replies?! In case anyone else is wondering.
I’m kind of confused about the Recaptha thing, Jeanne. While I was looking through the comments yesterday, it would come on for a moment, but then went away. I just thought it was a glitch on my computer. My goodness, all that spam! Not that it was a good thing, but at least it wasn’t junk mail in your physical mailbox! I don’t blame you for trying to get rid of it! As I am writing, I don’t see it yet. Maybe when I press “comment” I will see it, but so far this morning I haven’t.
Well, well, well, little Miss Mae looks adorable in her new outfit! I too love how pretty and crisp pique looks and has some body that holds out. A pretty yellow slip will do it too, and she will be so happy twirling! And those shoes! I can see her showing everybody how pretty they are! The whole outfit is perfect for a spring fling!
Now where is Dorothy who lives for May??
I do not know where Dorothy is. I hope she commented below 🥰
Nope, it wasn’t there today! Hope it is working, Jeanne!
Glad to hear that you back is getting better, although slowing. Mae is so adorable in that dress, the colors are made for her. I love the shoes, too, the flowers on them are perfect. I hope you are sleeping better.
I have that thing coming up, clicking on cars. I am sorry you had such a mess you had to have it there, but at least it works for you.
Yesterday the guy working on the tree was simply amazing! He was out there all by himself cutting that big tree into pieces and then chopping them up with a axe! He is just a little guy I don’t know how he does it all day! He got it all chopped up and left a small amount to finish Saturday. I will recommend him to our neighbors for sure.
That’s great news about your “guy!” Glad he was able to do it.
Joy, he does not look big enough to do what work, and yet he just goes on and on. We gave him ice water and also some small cokes. I sat with him with the coke and found out he has been doing work like this as long as he was old enough, working with his father. He is a really nice guy, name is Ben. He said he had done this to a larger tree and ours is huge!
That’s great, and I’ll bet that he would like cookies too. 🙂
So wonderful. I am so happy you found him. What a great guy!
Jeanne, This fabric is so beautiful for Mae, sweet flowers! I love everything about it! I love the style and the sleeves and the blue shoes are adorable!
I am glad that you are moving around and not in too much agony, except all pain is agony, so I hope you are continuing to cope with it. You have been in my prayers.
Sorry about the blog problems and spam. Hopefully this new feature will help!
Spam is so disgusting! Wow, so much has changed over the past 60 years, so many good wonderful incredible things, but the devil always finds a way to latch on!
I bet Mae is going to have a little hat? or a little purse?
Sissy, I am really so happy you had an excellent experience with this tree guy! This makes my heart happy!
Charlotte, I am exerting intense mental effort to remember what games we played at birthday parties. We had a record player and I do remember playing Hot Potato.
I just can’t remember being invited to many birthday parties!… When we lived in France, no one had birthday parties. My parents took a photo of me, in a red dress, I was maybe two years old? wearing a birthday hat and carrying a toy sized dust pan and brush and a red balloon!!!🎈😂 What a great gift!! hahaha
Today is going to be sunny and 65º I do hope all of you have a pretty day today.
Rosemary, you always send such kind remarks. Thank you for sending one to me. I am sorry about your birthdays, but I bet you were the cutest little thing in that red dress!
So, I would love to know more details on the VB little purse/tote you made. Maybe a pic of the pattern to help me visualize? I’ve been thinking about how it goes together and took another look yesterday while we were at Target. But, not sure how it might work or how the ends might fold. Guess I should take some time and do some paper folding. I might want to make it slightly larger too so one of the dolls could fit in a kitten or puppy.
Sorry about the lack of birthday parties for you. I’ll bet that you gave your girls some fun ones though.
Joy, I will make up a post over the week-end how to make this adorable bag. – and send it to Jeanne to share. It is “simple pimple” 😆 or okay, easy peasy.
I got some YKK zippers at Hobby Lobby. I also started a lone star quilt and making jammies for the grand girls dollies
Yes, it is easy.
If you have ever made a bag with a zip, like a very simple “clutch” bag for human size use, this is the same idea, but the manufacturer did some sloppy stuff, maybe to make the bag more puffy (fat sewn edges with thick bias tape inside on the sides and at the squared off corners)
I will look for that tutorial, but I made a bunch of those bags in 2014 for my daughters wedding. I will certainly share what I have learned.
Oh, that is great. I need somewhere to start, I guess. Too many garden weeds on the brain around here. Tks
i love reading the comments and occasionally chip in too. I love your blog and read it daily
Greetings Carole! I hope you have a happy Thursday!
Thank you Carole,
It’s good to hear from you from time to time… :o)
Blessings, Jeanne
Well, here it is, the end of April, almost May, and we haven’t heard from Dorothy. Has Jeanne been able to contact her? or perhaps, I missed something?
So sorry about the spam and hope that it is now fixed. On the blog today, after the writing on the third pic, there is no pic, but a tiny box. I clicked on it and the picture came up in a new box. No idea why, but it is different than usual.
A breath of spring today, when I saw Mae’s, adorable dress. The tiny yellow checks are just the right touch for an accent too. I love the shoes and it looks like Mae does too. I think I’d like to see little white simple socks with the outfit, but that is probably just my take. I love Mae, and this dress is going to be a big seller.
We’ll see if that annoying captcha shows up. Unfortunately, whenever I have to do those, I always get something wrong and then have to do another. You know, it asks for means of transportation and you pick cars/trucks and they wanted an elephant picked too. I’m terrible at doing them. It may be because I have difficulty seeing the actual pics. Hope I get an easy one if they appear. 🙂
I’m with you on the captcha things. I think it’s that the pictures are so small. I remember one the other day that wanted me to click on all the steps. Every picture looked like it had steps. They show up on a lot of things I do so I’ve gotten used to doing them and usually get it right but I’m never sure until it lets me go on.
Glad to have a compadre on the captchas. The steps one would have done me in. 🙂
I have not had to “do” a capcha” here on Jeanne’s blog, so maybe we are already verified…. even though I do comment too many times
After already being on here several times this morning, I got the Captcha or whatever it is. They asked for me to find buses. The pictures are so grainy and some distant, I have no idea what they are, but here I am, so I guess I am a human after all!
That’s interesting about the captcha. Maybe they decide that there were too many views or something? Not a clue.
So sorry about all the spam, Jeanne. At least the little spam I get goes straight to my spam folder where with one click, it is gone.
Oh dear, I do hope Dorothy in PA is well.
How sweet Mae looks and she is also definitely one of your spoiled ones. I love everything about this outfit so far. I love blue, white, and yellow together and the shoes with their matching flowers are just darling. The gingham checked accents are perfect.
No human check for me either.
I checked Deb’s hailstorm video just now again and I can see it perfectly, just like yesterday. I wonder why it doesn’t work for some.
Back one more time.
I just sent Dorothy in PA an email. Hopefully all is well and I will hear back from her soon. I’ll keep everyone posted.
Oh, great, Laura, I do hope you hear from Dorothy. We all are so concerned!
Oh thank you Laura. Thanks so much. I hope you hear from her soon.
Unfortunately a lot of my bills go to my junk mail folder. I keep saying it’s not junk but the next month there they are again so I have to actually go through all my junk mail to make sure it’s really all junk.
I’ve had that happen with a friend’s email. Unusual address. Which reminds me that I should check right now. 🙂
I love the dress and shoes on Mae..
I too am wondering what has become of my PA buddy. Hopefully she will show up to celebrate May. It won’t be the same without her joyous comments.
I just love this little dress for Mae. I love pique and the beautiful floral pattern is wonderful. And the shoes! A girl needs a matching pair of shoes for all her dresses and these are perfect. Can’t wait to see the pretty yellow slip. I have enough trouble getting the eyes in a Madow doll the first time. Not sure I want to switch them out according to what she is wearing. But I guess the more you do it the easier it becomes.
Speaking of birthday parties, they don’t bring back great memories for me. Having a birthday the day after Christmas meant I never had a birthday party. My parents made sure I had a special day but the day after Christmas was when all my friends seemed to go to grandma’s house to see what Santa left them there. I had Halloween parties and one year a Sadie Hawkin’s Day party but always was a bit envious of my sisters being able to have birthday parties. Two were born in March and one in July. I did go to my best friend’s birthday parties, and we used to play the game “Go to the Head of the Class” as well as Pin the Tail on the Donkey. And yes we always used straight pins not tape.
Strangely enough, Barbara, I had a similar problem with birthdays and my birthday is in July. All my friends and I went to camp and it was always the same time as my birthday. From age 9 to age 15 I had no parties. Camp was fun at least.
haha When is the lucky time to have a birthday? Mine was December 8, and just about everyone was sick with their first winter virus or something. My son in law’s birthday is the day after Christmas and I always make a big deal out of it for him.
I am off to the oven to make cookies for tomorrow’s event. Our wonderful church Youth Director is having a dinner tomorrow evening to help with money for the ladies who cook for the after school program. Laura has been the director for many years and is so good with the kids. I am sure the church has given the food but desserts were asked. I helped with the fifth grade after school kids with Laura for 10 years but my back finally make me quit. I am making the cookies today because I am having my every 3 month back shot from my pain doc tomorrow and am not sure how I will feel like cooking when we get home! I will let you know how it goes tomorrow.
I am sure the cookies turned out great. I hope your shot is also perfect tomorrow 🥰
