LOTS of chatter and more dolls to show!

Hi everyone,
I was working on something and helping Suemae with some dolls… so when I got back to my computer… (it just hit midnight!) … I couldn’t believe there were 50 comments. I had to read them all to see what all the chatter was about…
Let’s see, we had LOTS of talk about updating your computer, computer issues and knowing when to do something about it,
You were discussing the TERRIBLE things that have happened to your yards, specifically bushes and trees and shrubs… Oh, some of your stories (Sissy’s, most recently) sounded awful… I truly know you DID cry!
Everyone was wishing “other person” a happy birthday and secretly we were ALL hoping for a piece of that Lemon Cake!
Then there was some discussion about braiding hair and fixing it in pretty ways…

That’s what all those 50 comments were about!

Now I have something to share with you from Suemae. She is getting ready to have an Estate Sale selling lots of Susette’s things. She sent me a Word Document, but I just took a screen shot of it so you didn’t have to click on it to see it. She said Susette had over 20,000 things in the sale… shoes, clothes, dishes, etc… LOTS for Suemae to deal with… and she lives 3 hours away from Susette’s house…

She said if anyone was close enough to come, she’d love for you to stop by. Apparently Susette had some bigger dolls that Suemae wanted to sell in the Estate Sale… but she is still wanting to sell the smaller dolls on here and she’s sold a few on Ebay… but she likes doing it on here, because it’s a little more low key and not quite so tedious.

So, let’s start off with her Ellowyne. There are SO many different names of the various Ellowyne dolls, but Susette had this red curly headed one and she’s very pretty. She comes in her dress with shoes, and also her special Chaise Lounge. Suemae doesn’t have her box or a Certificate of Authenticity but she will pack her well. She is asking $325.00, including FREE shipping. If you are interested, please let me know…

Next, Suemae has a Ruby Red Fashion Friends Jada doll for sale… She said she was in perfect condition and looked like she had only been on display…her clothes were just as she came in them. She is asking $199.00 for Jada, including FREE Shipping. Jada doesn’t come up very often on Ebay… just saying… :o)

The next doll is Ruby Red Fashion Friends Hanna, dressed in her jeans outfit. Suemae found Hanna dressed in the white with navy embroidery dress, which is actually a Girl of the Orient dress set. Suemae said if you wanted Hanna with the extra bonus dress, she would be $249.00… If you just wanted Hanna in her original outfit and box, she would be $50.00 less, or $199.00. She will also be shipped for FREE.

I found this picture of the white and navy dress on this Girl of the Orient… it fits the 14.5″ Ruby Red dolls as they share the same body.

She is wanting to show more on here, but has to split up her time with other things besides dolls, so she’ll be back with more after the sale…

Let me know if you are interested in anything shown today and I’ll get in touch with her.

Thanks everyone… I’ll see you tomorrow,
Blessings, Jeanne

Yeah, I guess we were pretty “chatty” yesterday! But it was fun!

Oh, I wish I lived close enough to go to that estate sale! Looks like there will be lots to see!

These dolls are all lovely. I have that particular Hanna, and I think she’s my favorite, at least of the core dolls I own. (I also have Bella, Maya, and Frieda.)

I forgot to say, Barbara, I replied to your response to my comment on yesterday’s blog.

Off we go again this am, we will do our water aerobics and then have to take the car in for its check up. We usually have to sit in the waiting room for quite awhile, so I will check on y”all from my phone. See you later, Alligators, LOL

PS, I received notice of TWO estates sales today, Suemae’s and a neighbor’s. They are moving to be near their family…that is what more of our friends do as they get old. My older son wants us to move to Long Island with his family but it is just not our wish to live up there. I wish some of the dolls Suemae is selling would have been long ago when I was still collecting.

It’s so nice to see the dolls that Susette enjoyed collecting, loved having, and took care of. She took care of everything she had, and it sounds like she had a great deal. She especially loved setting a pretty table. I’ve seen photos of some of her dishes, all with good memories connected to them.

What beautiful dolls, plus everything else Susette had! I personally know how much she treasured her things, and took very good care of them. I wish I could be at the sale, but it would be too sad to see her things and not her!

I was wondering about her collection of orchids, and other beautiful plants that she took so much pride in, and the little fairy buildings she made. I was not aware of any Star Wars items, or even GI Joe, but then again, she had boys, and these could be from them. I know I had quite a few Star Wars things from my own son, but he took those several years ago for his own boys.

I was so sorry to hear of the problems many of you had with so called landscapers and gardeners. I have a yard just big enough that we can do everything ourselves, and are lucky enough to keep it up, despite our age. The best part is that I love working in the yard, so that helps!

    1. Linda, agree. We have a very small yard in our new house here in Birchwood, 5 miles down the road from our old house – all in Ashburn Virginia. Just now we have the lawn service fertilizing our small patch of grass.
The large property and house,…. we need to sell it. Yesterday I went over there just to clean up some gardens and tree branches
and it was two hours of work! … just a bit over my limit, but I take it as a win in getting some pollen exposure.

      1. Linda in St. Louis

Rosemary, we too have a lawn service fertilize our yard several time a year. We used to do even that, but when we saw how much better the lawn service was in fertilizing and now much trouble it was for us, we just went that route, and have never looked back. However, everything else is ours to do!

    2. Hi Linda, Yes, that one time with help with the yard was quite enough. Never again.

I, too, loved Susette’s little fairy buildings and asked her about them. They are made by Heather Goldminc (Blue Sky Clayworks). They are painted so whimsically.

      1. Linda in St. Louis

Laura, I actually had a couple of Heather Goldminc figurines, and Whe I found that she loved them, I sent them to her. Yes, they are so whimsical! Thanks for reminding me about that!

Oh, Linda, I LOVED working in the yard for many years, but my back is not happy when I do. I still get out there just to do a little, no more than an hour. Right now the Dog Woods, still some camellias, and azaleas, are blooming. I love the spring flowers in the South!

  6. Tuesday again.
Yes, yesterday was a lot of interesting discussion. It is good to share the frustrations too.
Sissy, I agree, I would not want to move to Long Island.
Today I should try to get some stuff done around here: some house hold chores and of course a fair amount of piecing and sewing.
Susette’s estate sale will be a lot of work for Suemae. I am sure she is
having quite an experience of emotions going through this process.
    These dolls are precious.
Yesterday, here in North western Virginia, all the way at the top of the state on the west side, we hit 78ΒΊ it was sunny and warm. Today they are forecasting 82ΒΊ
so I guess we are officially in that seasonal “see saw” of weather, warm during the day and chilly at night. I need to change my bed quilt. I had the hot colds last night tossing my much too warm fuzzy blanket around.
I hope everyone has a smooth productive day.
Has everyone seen the movie with the guy that plays Mr Bean, Rowan Atkinson playing Johnny English a parody of James Bond? At one point, the Archbishop of Canterbury exposes his under pants and on them is written “Jesus is coming, Look Busy” … …. I think upon that often 🧐

    1. Debbie in North Carolina

Great quote! I wish you were a few hours closer, we could get into some busyness….

I also read every comment before I went to sleep last night. So many topics worthy of discussion. Couple all that information with the time change and off to another fitful night. Because I can’t fix anything that is going on, I come to the conclusion that I must sell my dolls while I am able. The town where we live is sixty five percent retirees, one of my neighbors calls it God’s waiting room, so there are plentiful estate sales every week. It is very sobering to see an entire life on tables for sale. We have downsized 3 times during these late in life moves but have so many beautiful treasures we just keep hauling them along. I know Suzettes collections will find good homes. And I am not selling my dolls!

    1. Sissy Lingle on the GA coast

Debbie, I am with you on that. I have been selling my Helen Kish dolls, and even some of my Meadow dolls. For a while I was sending some of my things around the house to a local Antique Shop, but they finally got so full they told me they had no room. I did sell a lot there. Now, I am making a list my family has said of stuff they will take. I have told my sons that when I am gone, anything that has left of mine or Peyton’s that no one wants they must have an Estate Sale. Then anything else will go to our Church Thrift shop. This is in our Will. They have agreed with this.

Susette’s, Ellowyne, is lovely. Hope someone is interested. And her Hanna, Ruby Red, I believe, is one of the early ones because she is in the original curved box that can be made into a doll bed. Cute. And, Jada. is sweet too. I wish that I could attend the estate sale, but it in southern CA. Way too far away for us. Like Linda, I remember Susette’s orchids and fabulous displays with the ceramic houses and tiny greenery. Her things were lovely.
Other person had a nice birthday yesterday. Lunch out and lots of phone calls from friends. Grands sent a cute video of them singing Happy Birthday too.
My Ruby Red Sugar, is still in the LA area, but made it through customs and is now with the carrier. So, she definitely will be arriving up here in the next few days. Love this new Effner sculpt, that they say they will be using again for another doll soon. Always room for one more around here. πŸ™‚
After pulling out all of the driveway weeds between the spacers at the other house on Sunday, as well as weed wacking and cleaning up, the place looks so much nicer. Next is the backyard there. And then here of course, with those pesky weeds. It’s unending, but I am so glad that we don’t have to worry about yard people ruining vintage plants since we are those yard people. πŸ™‚
The lemon cake that I made yesterday turned out great, but I didn’t get any sewing started. Really need to get on that and the yardwork here, too. I’m sure that Callie Cat will be very helpful with the yard. πŸ™‚

    1. I am so glad, Joy, that you got some yard things done.. and cake too. Other person’s birthday sounds like it was a great day all around!
Weeds are annoying. Here the builder put down sod but much of it has bermuda grass and that stuff is horrible.
These weeks ahead are supposed to be cooler and I might go out and pull up those plants I hate. haha the liriope ones.
I can think of many others that would be much cuter.
Safe travels for your RR Sugar girl!

      1. Joy in northern CA

Bermuda grass is awful, but crabgrass is worse. We have tried about everything to get rid of it and still, is flourishes! Darn.

  9. Susette had so many lovely things! I wish I could attend as well, but way way too far for me. I’m sure it’s a daunting task for Suemae.
So many pretty RRFF and other beautiful items.

  10. Dorothy in PA and the World

Dear Jeanne, there is always chatter here on the sofa. We have so much to say to each other.

I hope Suemae is able to sell all of the dolls.

  11. Barbara in SE Texas

Right now it is pouring outside and there is a tornado warning for most of the day. Thankfully not a watch so far. It’s going to be in the low 70s tomorrow and Friday. It will be in the mid-80s this weekend and then it will be in the low 60s Monday and Tuesday. Still lots of cold in Canada and we’ll be getting a glance of that, most is going east. Guess I can’t put my jacket away just yet.

Susette had some really lovely things and wonderful dolls. I’m on a dolly hold right now so can’t consider a new purchase. I’ve been trying to get a 20″ Maru doll but can’t find one anywhere. Missed one on ebay but it’s probably better I didn’t see her sooner.

I hope the rain stops soon. It is lunchtime and today is Popeye’s and I was looking forward to that.
