Dear Jeanne, You didn’t say anything about George, so I’m assuming he’s still in the hospital? If it’s an infection he has, or something related to the bladder/kidney issues, that is the best place for him. I’m continuing to pray for complete healing for him and for comfort for both of you.

In the picture of the 40s girls, is Molly’s outfit something for her from AG, or from another source? It sure is cute. I remember wearing midriff tops similar to that in the early to mid 1950s, too, although mine had elastic at the bottom as well as around the neck. And I love the shoes that she and Betsy are wearing; my Molly has some in black, and I like her to wear them as her school shoes.
I do remember Kirsten’s fishing set, although I never bought it. As a 3rd generation American-born 100% Swede, I can tell you that we ate a lot of fish when I was growing up! I still like to eat fish, and there are actually several kinds I like. I’ve only ever been fishing once, though, and didn’t catch anything.
I love Felicity’s dress. She looks very festive!
And the traveling girls….I hope they have a great time on their respective vacations!

Charlotte, no, that outfit on Molly isn’t an AG outfit, but one that I found on EBay when I was building Molly’s wardrobe. She really doesn’t have a regular shorts set unless you call her camp outfit one, so this one really stuck out when I was looking for something, since I too, wore sets like this when small. I know what you mean by having elastic at the bottom and top part, since my mother made a bunch of tops like that for me and my sisters. They had a ruffle around the top too.
Actually, that is not Kirsten’s fishing set, it is Nanea’s! I simply cannot afford Kirsten’s set, and it is very hard to find in the first place. Kirsten just wanted to go fishing and since she had the dress, I got Nanea’s set for her, although the fish that came with it cannot not be used for Kirsten. They are tropical fish!
I wish I had the life my dolls have, because the yard work here is never ending! Thank you so much for the compliments!
I chuckled when I read why Kirsten cannot use Nanea’s fish Too funny.
As for your Hawaiian traveler. She need not take much with her in the way of wearing attire but she might need a suitcase for coming home. I remember when I was there I bought several of the lovely Hawaiian dresses and barely could fit them in my suitcase for the return home.

And thanks for telling me about the fishing set. If it works, it works! You might be able to get an appropriate fish in the miniatures department at Hobby Lobby sometime. Or I suppose you could always paint over this one! But I’d be inclined to look for another one so as to keep this one original.
When I went to Michigan one year, I bought so much fabric, I didn’t have room in my suitcase for everything, so my cousin’s wife helped me at the post office, get a flat rate box and stuff the heaviest pieces in there. I mailed it the day before I flew home, so I would be sure to be the one to pick it up at the post office when it got here!! 😂
I was wondering about Molly’s set too. You found a very cute outfit. Molly’s red, white, and blue table is a real winner. It looks like more pink lemonade there too.
I would not have guessed that the fishing set was not Kirsten’s originally.
It’s getting hot here too — 97 yesterday — but since the weekend was supposed to hit triple digits last weekend and didn’t, I’ll just be grateful for what we got. Colorado tends to be dry, not humid. That’s a help — and we have had enough rain that lawns are still green.
As I continue reading about English queens, I’m amazed at how much is known about them and their personalities. Right now there’s a break in Matildas — Henry’s 2nd wife was called Adeliza, and the various people writing about her couldn’t figure out how to spell it. Henry was having the Henry VIII problem — no male heir. He had a legitimate son and daughter, but his 17 year-old son and a shipload of his inebriated friends, including Henry’s illegitimate son and daughter, were drowned when the ship hit a rock. 300 of England’s young nobility died. Adeliza, many years younger than Henry, gave him no children. Next stop — civil war.

Today I have a zillion little chores to do. For starters, water the tiny lawn we have.
Yesterday, Kitty Princess spent the entire day out on the porch. I have sealed the bottom gap of the screen door to the outside with a door sweep, to keep out tiny bugs and lizards and other critters. I do not want them coming into the porch and terrorizing Kitty Princess. Also, I do keep the sliding door of the house open just the size of Prinnie so she can come inside, but I do not want any crawling critters in the house. So far, we have been lucky with this set up. Yesterday, Princess saw a squirrel, fortunately, it did not come to the screens and taunt her. I hope that does not happen!!! We also had an eastern box turtle visitor wander around, and a tiny lizard thing I first thought was a snake!
I wish I had a magic wand. I feel like going to the ocean for a while. I just do not feel like making a three+ hour drive. Ahhhh it is such a feeling of relief knowing that we sold the house. I do not know the complete story of the buyer but they were “offer #6”
“Offer #1” was a great offer and they had an escalation clause. I feel kind of bad for them, their lender did not meet the deadline and call the agents office at all on Sunday, so they lost out and offer #6 was forced to escalate their offer. …. now for the wild part. Oh my goodness, the people of Ashburn Virginia (no hubbs and I are not the present day demographic) Apparently this couple bought a house three streets away two weeks ago? and the land behind it was purchased by some developer and they applied to build on the property, something like 180 town homes, … chop down all of the trees and stuff town homes in. ?? All of the home owners on the street across from us, were sent a letter only 5 days ago, informing them of this idea, and there would be a court hearing?? So, now there will be a lot of panic selling, however these people that bought the house three streets away, their house also backs to this possible development. So, what are they doing? not selling the house they just bought… just buying ANOTHER house!! That is a lot of $$$$$$$$$$$$ but okay.
I am still in disbelief that we sold the house so fast, but we will just move forward to settlement with these people with bucket loads of money. 💰🤞🏽
Anne dear, Sams kiddos sound like a challenge. I am sure they are thriving though with both of you supporting them with care. I hope you enjoyed your coffee morning!
We lived in France when daddy was working at that SHAPE location, (then we moved to the US for a decade) and then in the 70’s my parents moved to Brussels and my dad worked for NATO and also at SHAPE.

We have the same problem here with developers taking large pieces of la d and clearing them out for houses and condos. I’d rather see trees and meadows than a sea of rooftops!
I loved seeing that beautiful summer table this morning. because we are now experiencing a heatwave, and the cool fruit looks so appealing. It is wonderful that Linda, was able to send Jeanne some great pics. So many fun things to see and the details, well, complete perfection. I love the travel pic. Tell Ivy that as long as she has a swimsuit for Hawaii, she’ll be good. 🙂 Is the flag that Felicity is holding AG? I tried to find something similar, but because I was late and it was the 4th of July, I had to make some from paper. But, I would like to find one like Felicity’s. The outdoor girls look like they are enjoying the weather and the pet kitties appear to be hanging around Kirsten, so it looks like she has caught something they will enjoy. 🙂 And everyone likes ice cream. Here, a delay in getting my RR Rosa. Her plane landed in Chicago instead of LA, so it will be awhile until she can be trucked back across the country to CA. But, my Jolli doll order has taken off from HK this morning. I hope that flight is to LA, but we’ll see later.
Here, it is hot. Way too hot for me, so other than watering my poor plants, I was inside trying to stay cool. It is still 61 this morning, but starting to climb and will be in the high 90’s later. Yesterday, I heard other person banging on the printer and found him in a tantrum. He claimed that it wouldn’t print but two pages. I told him it was the operator and not the printer which didn’t go over too well. Then, I told him to change browsers. After a lot of commotion, he finally followed the instructions I gave him and tried again with Google. Of course, everything worked just fine. I do not like his Bing at all. But, that took time away from our next problem. We have a leaking kitchen sink. First, the faucet came loose and then yesterday, water on the floor. So, I pulled out everything from under the sink, a lot, and mopped up. Kind of a ritual around here. Anyway, laying on my back on a towel under the sink, I could see that a shut off valve was dripping, so put a pan under it until I can fix it. Other person still has a sore finger from when he dislocated it during the tree removal. But, the loose faucet is more of a problem. It is so high up from the cabinet floor, that I’m not sure that I can fix it. But, I wasn’t sure until I could see the installation instructions that came with the faucet. Back to other person. I demanded that he find the booklet which should be filed in a folder in the file cabinet. I caught a break to water, while he looked. Over an hour later, he produced the booklet. He had actually filed it. Something I ask every time we buy a new appliance. By then, it was after six, so I sat down and checked it out. After seeing it, I think it may only be a loose nut at the base of the faucet, but I’m not sure exactly how to reach up that high under the sink to try to tighten it because the garbage disposal is in the way. We do not want to take that out to fix the faucet. Major pain because our house is so old and was not designed for even a dishwasher. Over the years, we have added that and the disposal so it is very cramped. We’ll see what today brings. Will I be able to fix the sink or will we have to call a plumber?? To be continued.
I emailed my cousin, the one just back from Africa, to see if she would send me a few pics. We’ll see.
I’m hoping that Jeanne is getting some rest and that George is too. I thinking of them both an looking for an update soon.

Joy, I just googled “miniature flags for sale” and came up with some, one of which was a Betsy Ross flag, for only $1.69! Try that and you can find it. I didn’t know how to get it to show up here. It’s a cloth flag, 4” by 6”, which is what I have.

I am out of energy after scrubbing the kitchen floor. Peyton usually does it by running over it with something he buys for it but after awhile food that sticks to the floor needs harder work and that is my job. So I am beat! I will be 2087 on my birthday Thursday and thankful I can still get around a bit.
It is a nice way to rest and look at Linda’s sweet dolls. The tables with the delicious food makes me hungry! The dolls are so cute all lined up for their fun. You are so great to show us these fun dolls, it brightens my day.
Rosemary, that is a wild story about all the houses. I wonder what will come of it! I too would love to go to the ocean like I did when I was growing up. It was right at our house. It is a 1 hour drive but it is also very popular now and much too crowded.

Thank you, Laura! Well, to tell you the truth, I just MAKE time to dress my dolls and change the scenes. Since I am retired, I can do that easier than some who have jobs or other obligations. I have all these cute things for the dolls, so why not use them? Someday you will have more time.
I have heard that this whistles do work, but I can’t hear that kind of sound, due to my hearing loss. Some sounds just don’t get through to me!
I want to mention that now Cecile has Samantha’s paint set opened on her disk, but when I took the picture, I didn’t have it yet. Still wanting a sketchbook for her.
No, the jello mold is from another seller on AGPT, from several years ago, and she made food for the dolls. Also she made the deviled eggs on that plate.
Since I am retired I have loads of time to play with my dolls. Problem is I can’t stand long enough to do that. I used to take them one at a time and change their clothes and it would take maybe three days but now I barely can get one changed before I feel the need to sit down. It’s getting better but I used to get excited at the thought of spending time in my sewing/doll room and now not so much. Hopefully that will come back. It was just last summer I made all those swimsuits for my L’il Dreamers and did the photo shoot so it really hasn’t been that long. As I feel better I just need to get back in the habit of spending time in there.
Barbara, why are you standing up when yu dress hur dolls? I am always sitting at the kitchen table when I dress them. Maybe try that.

I guess I was standing because I was dressing all of them and there are a lot and it made it easier to get their clothes drawers and bring them to my worktable. But if worse comes to worse I can pull my serger chair over to the table and raise it to its full height. At least it would be getting done.

Thank you, Joy! Yes, all Ivy really needs is a swimsuit! I actually do have a rolling suitcase for her, but it was too big for the scene, and she doesn’t need a ton of clothes. Yes, a swimsuit is all she needs!
About that flag, well, I got that years ago from the American Girl Playthings site. They have a section for buying and selling, and someone had this flag for sale, so I snapped it up since I could use it for Felicity. It really isn’t a doll flag, so there must be a company selling different miniature flags out there somewhere. I also have a small Irish flag, in the same size, but don’t remember where it came from. Lots of my accessories are not AG, but things I find here and there that work out.

Thank you, Paula! Betsy certainly does make my scenes much cuter with her being in them! She has a lot of clothes, and can wear many Wellie Wisher clothes too, plus others from various seamstresses. She has two drawers that were my daughter’s for clothes, and they are completely full! In other words, normal people furniture full of doll clothes!I just lay them on top of each other and put tissue paper between the layers. So far, nothing gets wrinkled, but I am always careful when getting things out and putting them away. I think the smaller clothes are easier to layer tan the o es for the 18 inchers, although, my 18 inchers clothes are hung. Well, most of them, ut not shorts or tees.
I would love to see the picture of you wearing shorts and top similar to Molly’s!

I missed taking in the blog yesterday but have to share the fun of my Saturday evening. Well maybe not so much fun at that. I had asked David to cook a prime rib in his smoker. Not long after he fired up the grill we heard a frantic knocking on our door. He went to answer it and then I heard him go out the back door. The next thing I know the fire department is out front. David had okayed Jason and Stephanie smoking a brisket last Sunday. Since he wasn’t going to be around to monitor their use, it seemed like a bad idea to me because both of them are totally obtuse when it comes to doing anything. David told Jason exactly what to do and in Jason’s usual manner he thought he knew better. He’s been doing this since we got custody of him when he was seven (he’s 50 now) and every time he tries to prove David wrong he ends up proving him right. First they wrapped the meat in foil, which doesn’t work well for smoking a brisket. The foil holds in all the grease and then Stephanie evidently dumped all the grease onto the firebox, fortunately for her after she turned off the grill. When Daivd went to use the smoker he forgot they were last to use it so he did his normal things. It was no wonder the woman driving by thought out house was on fire and two other neighbors called the fire department. The smoke was horrendous and when David opened the grill it flamed up. It’s good to know we’re looked after but it never should have happened. David has tried to teach Jason many things over the years with him rejecting most of it and Stephanie’s parents worked diligently to keep their kids in child mode so Stephanie was ignorant of what could happen. They have been banned from using the smoker in the future unless David is there to supervise because nothing is ever a learning experience with those two and we always end up paying for their mistakes in one way or another, usually financially.
PT is going well but I will be glad when it’s over – about the end of August. I’m seeing results but at times they can be painful and definitely painfully slow. I still don’t feel as if I can walk on my own but I did some stretches with my left leg yesterday and I can see some difference today. People warned me that as time went on the exercises would be tougher and I know now what they mean. But each visit is a step toward getting back to normal so I’m all for whatever it takes.
Lots of rain here the past two days but we were starting to need some. And my Crepe Myrtle trees are now blooming fabulously well.
My cousin’s husband had a total shoulder replacement last October. He is pretty much done with his PT and is happy with the results. But, it took nine months and excruciatingly painful PT. It was from all of the tennis he played all of his life. Very glad that you are having good results. And so sorry about the smoker. I would guess that the prime rib was toast?
Actually David rescued the prime rib and it went into the oven for the remainder of the time. Would have been nice though if it could have finished up in the smoker.
Thank you, Barbara! I just haooened to make a pitcher of pink lemonade at the time I set Felicity’s table, so thought it would be”add” to the scene! Felicity’s dress is one of my favorites for her and seems jjst “right” for the Fourth!
My goodness, what a scare with that fire! We used to have a gas grill that blew uo in our faces whenever we started it, and it scared me half to death. We finally got rid of it and are happy with the Weber Kettle grill.

We have had many grills but David loves his pellet grill/smoker and usually everything works 100%. David has always been so generous with sharing things with people like his car one time (that the person ended up wrecking) or his work truck that Jason managed to damage in a traffic accident because he stayed up late at night and fell asleep at the wheel. Luckily it was during traffic congestion so no one was going fast and he wasn’t hurt. Me I tend to be a bit more selfish with my things unless I really, really, really trust the person who wants to borrow them.
Barbara your story about the smoker reminded me of years ago when we had a Pastor who was always trying to come up with something creative for special occasions. This particular Maundy Thursday he had set up a brazier behind the church and we all sat around it, I know we had communion, I can’t remember what else we did. What I do remember is that first we had a member of the public come around the back to check on the fire, then we had the fire dept around, someone had seen the fire and called them, then about half an hour later someone called them again. He didn’t repeat that particular activity!

It has been a sad time here in NZ. Sir Sam Neill was easily the greatest actor from NZ but more than that he was a ‘thoroughly nice bloke’. In Central Otago, where he lived, he was just one of the community, going for coffee at the local cafe and buying bread from the local bakery. He raised a lot of money for the local hospice and was very active in conservation. He will be sadly missed by NZ and the movie industry.
We are having a warmer spell at the moment, it was 19C yesterday, currently 7C at 8am. We needed it so we could get the washing done.

It is actually 72 degrees (Fahrenheit of course) here in southwest Texas at the moment if you can believe it. But it took two days of rain to achieve it. I loved your story about your Maundy Thursday service. Too funny. But it reminded me of shortly after we joined our previous church the priest decided to do an outdoor event using those lanterns that float through the air like you see in commercials. It was a lot of fun until one headed straight for the roof of the education building. Fortunately it moved on fairly quickly but it was pretty dicey for a few moments.
